Pretty cool

Please do not take this the wrong way.
Why is it cool a celebrity uses it, in fact I don't get the whole celebrity endorsement thing anyway.
I have never once in my life bought anything based on an endorsement.
My thought is, as all companies do it, instead of paying them millions for a commercial, use that money in other ways that would actually Increase sales.
There is no person alive that if I walked up to them it would make me scream, cry, or act crazy.
Got off on a rant there sorry, it just irritates me people on here are getting screwed with their orders or returns but I bet Samsung has given millions to people to carry and promote the phone

Well we don't know that he was endorsing the phone at all in that picture. Hes a guy whos well know and using Android, I say thats win all around most celebs are Mac heads. Have to keep the zombies in check actor are people too shouldn't really matter what they use. I wonder why he chose it?

They are using money to increase sales, with celebrity endorsements. It works because people want a phone like Taylor Swift has, it might help them shake it off even better.

It looks like he genuininely is using the phone as his personal device (using the spen for instance). He's certainly not posing for photos with it. I think people have him all wrong.

Celebrity endorsements really don't mean anything to me, but, at the same time, it's nice to see a Hollywood star ditch the iPhone and use an Android, much less a Note 4.

Agreed, and don't take this the wrong way, your signature says john 3:16 and there is no one on the planet that would make me fall for any religion, why is it cool to just believe, when we have a thinking brain?
Just saying, there are things that bother us, but we need to learn to live and let live.

I am all for live and let live.
Not sure what my signature has to do with anything whatsoever to do with anything mentioned but by all means, use your thinking brain in any way you please.

If you think for 1 second that these clebs get millions to carry a phone around then you are nuts. They may get a phone for free but thats about it. Unless its a TV deal for a select few then that is about it. If its not on TV its usally just free swag.

Am I the only one who doesn't like "Droid"

Maybe I'm just picky, but I don't like the the way "Droid" is becoming the defacto name for all Android phones thanks to Verizon's add campaigns. It's like calling any old mp3 player an iPod, even though it's a Zune or a Sansa. I just feel the need to correct people when they ask what kind of phone I have, and I tell them it's a Nexus One, they say "Huh", then I explain it's and Android phone, and then they're like "Oh, you mean a Droid", and then I have to correct with "no, AAANNNdroid, not just Droid".
Dont mind.. really.. i also just nod when my aunt calls my Computer a hard drive and an mp3 player a walkman..
Don't have the problem in the UK, so Android it is.
funny thins is,as i was reading this, verizons "Droid" commercial was on the tv lmao
I really dont like the Droid name or add campaign. Some of the (Moto) Droid users are super annoying fanboys like the apple ones. Most of them barely know how to use a smartphone and the Droid might even be their first. And all the "Droid" apps just confuse people because its slightly misleading. Apps might work for the Droid only or all of Android. But the most annoying thing is when I hear "Droid does", its just annoying. I don't correct people calling my N1 a droid to just Android, I add call it the Google Phone.

I would do the same thing with my grandmother as well, correcting some people wouldn't do any good. I guess the one thing that really got me, was when my roommate called my phone a "Droid". He's a geek like me, not as tech savvy, but a huge gamer (PC, console, whatever), and we he called my phone a "Droid", it bothered me really bad and I had to correct him.
It's stupid though when you thing about it (yes, I'm admitting my own annoyance is stupid), cause there are many other thing I call by the excepted name and not their official name as well. Examples would be, Kleenex(facial tissue), Weedeater(weed trimmer), Cresent Wrench(open end adjustable wrench). All these things are actually a specific brand of something, but I came to call them all by that name long before I even knew that was not their technical name. I have to wonder if I would have had the same problem with all of them if I were alive back when those brands had came out and people started calling them by that name?
As a phone I do not like the droid due to the keyboard but as a marketing tool to get Android OS out there its been great!
Holy crap. Here in the states we've got government at every level committed to special interest groups and selling us down the river, and here we are getting upset with silly advertisements and resultant jargon.

while i don't like the Droid label all android phones are getting, whatever helps spread the android kooliad i'm a fan of...VZW did it right with this massive ad campaign...we're finally getting a leg up on the iphone weenies
reminds me of the crappy moto
I find the moto (droid) commercials really awesome. It be kool if all android device would be called droid blank. Droid rachael lol
its kind of like when someone says, "hey can i borrow your PC for a second?" and i respond "no but you can borrow my macbook"
You guys are lucky that people around you know what android or droid is. Here where I live, when I tell people that I'm getting a Nexus One, they're like,"Man!! never heard of it. Get Nokia n97 or iPh*ne". I get so frustrated when I have to tell them the phone's specs... I wish google advertised its N1...
Every time you hear a "Droid" commercial, George Lucas gets paid.
Verizon has to pay a royalty to LucasFilms Ltd. to use the name "Droid". I just find that funny.
I'm hoping the next HTC superphone for Android will be the HTC R2D2 or something ridiculously blatant like that.
I hate it because it is very confusing... Verizon has the Droid, Droid Eris, Droid Incredible, and so forth... so you can't distinguish any of them.
Plus, it is just annoying that Verizon is essentially "taking ownership" of Android, in an odd way... I hate Verizon. Hate them. Have I mentioned my hate for Verizon?
Yeah, when I showed someone my n1 and told them its an android phone, they gasped because they couldn't believe that I switched to verzion. I had to correct them on the diff between droid and android, but in hindsight, it was a waste of time. Either way, the more advertisements out there can only help android's visibility, because Google seems incapable of advertising its products.
I felt like adding this. lol
Don't really mind as it benefits all Android users. look at how much more exposure OS has gotten, how many more apps we get. whatever helps, so long that they do not make Droid only apps, I am good. Android is not nearly as catchy as the Droid, and Verizon really wanted this thing to take off. guess what, it did! as much as I do not like them for their crappy rates and ridiculous fees, I do appreciate what they have done to Android.

i spilled my milky galaxy

This phone is so far from perfect, I actually hate it, Its one of the crappiest Android phones there is when compared to HTC etc...
I spilt the most tiniest bit of milk on it, I mean a splash and dried it within a second, now.... when plugged into USB on my pc it says USB Device Not Reconized and that it has failed... it charges fine but WONT work in usb, turning it off n on worked fine until today... now it sometimes doesnt want to turn on by power button, I have to plug the power cable to get it to boot...
to make such a statement you'd have to spill the same amount of milk over different devices. For scientific results you'd also need a considerable amount of the different devices, at least 100 I9000s and HTC Desires for example.
Considering the finances of a private person you can also just test 20 of the same devices or so.
after that you can make assumptions about milk resistance.
Good luck and happy testing

My galaxy survived rain, drop in mud, juice spill.
You just don't have luck.
no it has to be milk, otherwise you just assume that a) the galaxy has problems with all liquids (to prove this would require additional tests) and b) that other phones are more resistant to milk (which some things additional to water in it) than the galaxy.
i guess we should try beer also... but we should start with some htc devices in beer.
And with some iphones in other liquids, not that i would mention them here...

Phone is blamed because of the carelessness of the user. Phone not meant to get soaked. If your other phones were also got wet then there must be something wrong on how you handle your things...
Besides Galaxy s was never advertised as liquid-proof...
I could call, text, surf the net, download games, play games, play music, watch videos and many more without any problem. Is it really a crappy phone?

Was it a small dribble of "man milk" that you spilt on it ?
I have been trying to work out the purpose of this post, as it seems pretty clear that the OP is not actually asking for help or advice, but merely having a small fit about what is clearly either a coincidence or seriously bad luck. Surely he must have some higher, edifying purpose behind his post.

I have seen the destruction that milk can unleash, thousands dead, millions more scarred for life and I for one can tell you that you should NOT believe the hype, or assume because it is sickeningly white and innocent looking that milk is actually GOOD FOR YOU! Quite the opposite my friends. MILK is sheer, liquefied TERROR! Poor, helpless babies only drink it because we FORCE them to by locking them into elevated chairs and shoving evil MILK DISPENSERS into their horrified mouths when they can't resist. 1st commercial by Samsung for the S2

"Samsung Mobile" (from Facebook) just posted the 1st add for the Galaxy s2 on YouTube:
It can't be too much longer folks!
If only the phne truly was waterproof like the advertisment.
Samsung logo, here it is
Yep, that was posted a few days back in another thread. Looks nice and sexy.
It was leaked a few days ago but now we've got it from Samsung Mobile directly, so that's a good sign indeed!

Do you know those Red Bull commercials that "supposed give you wings"?
What if one of those commercials had a young kid jump off a building thinking he could fly?
Ok, maybe bad analogy but this commercial will have naive people thinking this phone is water-proof.
There are other ways to show the the brilliant display without confusing people and thinking what may or may not damage the phone

Nice commercial; they're realizing that the average consumer doesn't need to be blown away by specs and CG graphics to buy the product. I hope they make more that showcase the qualities of the phone but they are heading in the right direction.
I fail to see how Moto continuously makes the spec oriented adds for the Xoom when Apple is winning the hearts of many with it's emotionally attached and "awe inspiring" commercials of the iPad 2.

well that's kinda simple...
the Tech oriented commercials are trying to attract the geeky / nerdy cloud of consumers (Us here people on forums)
the Awe, Cute, Funny, Nice, etc type commercials are aimed to the regular home user that knows nothing about the phone, they just want something that looks great, and works, and fully packed with features they don't even use.
and Samsung is doing well in the 2nd type of commercials

I know this, but as you can see with the sales numbers, the Xoom isn't selling THAT well. People are quick to forget that "we" make up a small percentage of the market and that isn't where companies need to advertise.
Think about it, how many people who actually know what those specs mean wouldn't already know about the Xoom? The point of a commercial isn't to advertise to your target audience (of course it is, in a way) because we are already "sold".
With new products like these, they should be going for the average Co sumer, one who doesn't know about the tablet and is wondering why they should get that over the iPaD.

Okay, when think about it. I want to rephase "apple" as "big companies"
The thing is there are some inventions that can only be designed one way. If apple sues samsung then palm should sue apple since the apple iphone is very close to the palm life drive.

Apple is suing everyone.. Amazon for the "app store' name, HTC, Motorola, and other companies for the 'swipe to do something' feature.. it's just a never ending story.
it sure took Apple a long time to notice the similarities between their products and Samsung's...or any other phone manufacturer for that matter. A dinner plate is like the moon if you point out enough common properties.
Apple: "Oh my god you copied the iPad and made it smaller, put cameras on it, and an sd card slot too?! shame on you! (...hey that camera idea is not bad..lets put them on the iPad2...)"
i can understand that they would see a imitation of the iPhone 3gs through the galaxy s.
but seriously, they are still selling iPhones like no other company is selling.
and their newest model, the iPhone 4 looks completely different.
and to say that Samsung is imitating the look and feel of the ipad with the galaxy tab is completely ridiculous.
they seem like small children,
this is my ball
no its my mine
give it to me
no
muuuuuuuum
XD
Tab and iPad..... white backs so they must be identical!!!!
Apple are going to sue me because I copied their designs.... my bathroom is exactly the same as an iPad..... white!!!

Reminds me of the Rolf Harris song ~ "Two little Boys had two little Toys".
Someone should go talk to the boys @ Xerox and see what they have to say about Apple and Intellectual Property..
...and on a side note, exactly how many different ways can you make a tablet and not have it be flat and rectangular with smooth edges ???
Fine until Samsung stops supplying parts to apple
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Seems like this will see the end of rectangle devices with curved edged and devices with a black frame around the screen that are the same width.
I don't get why Apple don't just sue every manufacturer. It'll save them time as they're going at them one by one.
Its just such BS. Ill put a turtleneck jumper on my c0#k and sue Steve Jobs for stealing my idea.
Sent via zombie infested Gingerbread.
All good points above. But understand this is the way of corporate America.
I am part owner of a company that imports musical instruments to the US. Specifically guitars.
I cannot tell you how many times I have received letters from Fender, Gibson, Taylor attorneys. NONE of my guitars are marked with these names, some of them do look similar.
But as has been said above, how many different guitar designs can there be? Made of wood, with a neck, 6 strings???
We have always replied stating that we do not use the name or photograph of THEIR product to sell ours. We have only once been sued by a guitar manufacturer for intellectual property rights violations. We fought, we won. But it cost us nearly $50k.
These corporations HAVE to do this. They have to draw a line in the sand and not allow others to infringe. Because at the point they no longer do that, they open themselves to ALOT of lost revenue.
I'll just leave this right here...
Found this article on www.cnn.com and kinda makes sence. I would love though to see samsung counter sue apple though imagine the amount of money they would get from iphone sales LOL.
but here is the article

http://www.zweipunktnull.org/blog/2...-und-wann-schaltet-sich-eigentlich-braun-ein/ <- great article but in German (but there are a lot of comparison pics)
it shows how Apple was inspired by (stole) the Design of the famous German Designer Dieter Rams of the Braun Company.

^ accusing me of anger, whilst simultaneously posting in an overtly obvious passive-aggressive tone? Sheesh, have a cup of tea and let your cares dissolve
It takes a huge amount to anger me - I'm a very calm person, but also very passionate - don't confuse the two - one can be happy and passionately expressive, you know?
If you think replies from strangers online are going to take my contentment and peace, you're confusing me with someone who gets angry... someone else... and I can surely tell you that person isn't me. I hope I didn't make you angry, with my joking around?

Ahh, ya know what? I think people should lighten up and learn to have a laugh. Why are geeks SO serrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrious? Sheesh, smile - life isn't all straight-faced serious business - got to learn to have a giggle
Still unhappy? Have a look at this:

You think a light hearted injection of humour is "trolling"? It never ceases to amaze me how so many people turn into simple-minded robots when they're on forums - if a situation arrives which their minds cannot compute or sense the subtlety of, they feel the need to HAVE to categorise the person who made the comment, by pidgeon-holing that person into an extremely simplistic, black or white "box"... such as calling me a "troll", because I was having a laugh.
You are just too miserable to understand humour, it would seem, like most other internet nerds who just want to talk in binary black and white, like the machines they mess about with all day long. Yeah - I am also a geek, but LIGHTEN UP - haven't you got any sense of humour AT ALL?
Autistic? I am - but I also have a laugh... maybe you guys could try it...
Would I suddenly, in an about-face of attitude, become your "friend", were I to be the first person to capture and upload the OTA for all devices? Yeah - I bet I would - that's how quickly people snap out of their name calling tantrums....
I've been here 5 years, you've been here 5 mins... I don't think you need to make people dislike you, kiddo.
(Sent from my fingers, because I don't need some app to tell everyone what I'm using)
Incredulous...

I don't even know why this thread has created in a device forum to begin with. This clearly has nothing to do whatsoever with this device, neither does it add anything useful to this device's forum. These kind of threads are off-topic forum material, next time, please post it there.
