1st commercial by Samsung for the S2 - Galaxy S II General

"Samsung Mobile" (from Facebook) just posted the 1st add for the Galaxy s2 on YouTube:
It can't be too much longer folks!
If only the phne truly was waterproof like the advertisment.

Samsung logo, here it is

Yep, that was posted a few days back in another thread. Looks nice and sexy.

It was leaked a few days ago but now we've got it from Samsung Mobile directly, so that's a good sign indeed!

Whatever you do,whenever you purchase SGS 2

Do you know those Red Bull commercials that "supposed give you wings"?
What if one of those commercials had a young kid jump off a building thinking he could fly?
Ok, maybe bad analogy but this commercial will have naive people thinking this phone is water-proof.
There are other ways to show the the brilliant display without confusing people and thinking what may or may not damage the phone

I see your point. I hope most people see the text during the commercial that it is not waterproof xD
My first thought about the commercial was that it was original and funny.

I thought so too. Very original and humble, in my opinion.
Don't laugh but my first thought right when she dumped it in the fishbowl was.."so this isn't like the water marks of the iPhone? It doesn't void warranty? It can actually survive minor water accidents?"
Again, don't laugh.

Nice commercial; they're realizing that the average consumer doesn't need to be blown away by specs and CG graphics to buy the product. I hope they make more that showcase the qualities of the phone but they are heading in the right direction.
I fail to see how Moto continuously makes the spec oriented adds for the Xoom when Apple is winning the hearts of many with it's emotionally attached and "awe inspiring" commercials of the iPad 2.

well that's kinda simple...
the Tech oriented commercials are trying to attract the geeky / nerdy cloud of consumers (Us here people on forums)
the Awe, Cute, Funny, Nice, etc type commercials are aimed to the regular home user that knows nothing about the phone, they just want something that looks great, and works, and fully packed with features they don't even use.
and Samsung is doing well in the 2nd type of commercials

This is .. The worst ad ever !! The worst ad ever !!

I know this, but as you can see with the sales numbers, the Xoom isn't selling THAT well. People are quick to forget that "we" make up a small percentage of the market and that isn't where companies need to advertise.
Think about it, how many people who actually know what those specs mean wouldn't already know about the Xoom? The point of a commercial isn't to advertise to your target audience (of course it is, in a way) because we are already "sold".
With new products like these, they should be going for the average Co sumer, one who doesn't know about the tablet and is wondering why they should get that over the iPaD.

Probably not. It is an industry first, but it's also pretty much just a gimmick, like 3D. I would have been much more interested in a dual core phone, or even an Evo with an updated processor.
I can see how it would be good for mulittasking...if it had the power of a dual core processor...but the specs are very underwhelming, and the battery life is going to be horrible.
Its not that bad a phone but sprint did themselves a great disservice by hyping it up so much. People where expecting something huge and instead got a phone.

Yes. Yes you are.
The issue is that it "may" be a good phone once some people get their hands on it and play with it.
But you cannot deny the overwhelming negative response (see their facebook page) as a pretty big sign that it may not be a good phone.
If you look at it from a sales/marketing POV they would much rather have a phone that everyone thinks looks really cool at a press release, but then falls a little short of expectation in the real world. At least they sell some phones, and the high initial praise helps sustain the life of the phone.
Now look at this situation, especially in this economy, 99% of the initial response is bordering "verbal lynch mob", even if it a good phone, how many people will actually give it a chance?
First impressions can kill...........
It's an interesting concept, I'll give them that, but it's made by Kyocera, looks like a brick and not a lot of developers will go out of their way to make use of both screens.

I've seen almost nothing on the phone, but I agree. The hype was the worst of it.
I recall saying something similar would be great. I dropped the thought when tablets came.
EDIT-saw the video. WTF? Now I know why people said brick. I no longer have any interest even in passing.
The biggest issue is that from what i understand, its a basic Android. Phone with a 2nd gen snap dragon running 2 screens. Won't that hurt performance?

you will never get an update past the OS that they ship it with
you get like a whole 5 apps that can utilize both screens, and no developer is going to waste time expanding their code base to accommodate this

Actually its the second gen check out engadget fire more proof...i don't feel like providing it.
. Under the hood there's a 1GHz second-gen Snapdragon running Android 2.2 -- we'll forgive the older software because Kyocera had to do extensive customization to add dual-screen support to seven core apps like the browser, email, and messaging.

I'm not an Apple fanboy, in fact quite the opposite. But the facts of this post are wrong. F700 was announced in Feb 2007 and showcased at 2007 CEBIT NOT 2006 show. And it was accused of being an iphone ripoff even back then.
Feb 8th 2007 date of video upload.
And if we want to be pedantic here.
The first touchscreen phone was the IBM Simon, launched in 1992. During this decade the popular iPaq (not made by Apple by the way) was launched with touchscreens and optional phone attachments. HTC, the leader in touchscreen phones up until the iPhone and makers of phones like the Nexus One launched their first touchscreen phone, the HTC Wallaby aka XDA in 2002.

In my opinion, the problem is that Apple is kind of feared. Android is being developed and, according to Google News, 350,000 Android terminals are activate every day, and this is a commercial strategy to stop Android's development.
Although, if I am not wrong, Samsung and Apple work "together" in a certain sense, because Samsung provides hardware for Apple products... So I can't get the reason of this lawsuit against Samsung. It is probably a commercial thing - Apple will "earn" MUCH money with this.

Didn't you know?? They give the definition of "unique" to a phone which has Samsung and LG components... And they're complaining for something which is not fair to complain for. TouchWiz UI and iOS UI are similar for the drawer and the app bar, and so what? I mean, that's a minor problem: imagine if those companies who are providing components for Apple stop doing it... I think giving them a "license" to use a (let's call it like that) similar interface is a good strategy...

I am not saying this will happen, but is quite possible if the government doesn't block Apple in their tracks from doing so... (I think once Google Appeals, these parents will be made standard for touchscreens...)
The one saving grace is that it's pretty clear the current patent system that dates back to George Washington in 1790 is clearly broken as it applies to technology. Should Apple start abusing their horde of patents to eliminate competition leaving them as the only purveyor of functioning smartphones and tablets governments worldwide will intervene. It's already started with Judge Posner throwing out the Apple v. Motorola case in Chicago with prejudice calling it "ridiculous" based on lack of or concocted damages. If Apple wins the Samsung case in California they'll lose anyway. It'll be the beginning of a massive move toward patent reform because in a democratic society you don't let one manufacturer control an entire industry whether their patents entitle them to or not.
Patent reform needed...
Old news, a repost and a lot of misleading and wrong information. Good job trying to direct traffic to your site thought, you could have just asked.
Do any of Google's newly acquired patents from Moto have any teeth against Apple?

How exactly does Apple have patents for things they didn't invent? Oh, wait, I remember now, theft.
I'm not sure that Apple CAN be granted patents for technology that already existed - smartphones have been around far longer than the iPhone, despite what the Apple folks would have us believe and I had phones that were doing these sorts of things long before Apple came along.
The law may be an ass, but I don't think it's a complete tool.

Really funny how it's only Samsung and Samsung made devices that are on the hit list so far....
Though if they drag google into it then ALL android devices will be affected... Will be funny to see how this will pan out as before it was Apple (America - LA) vs Samsung (Korea) and Apple won, now it will be Apple vs Google (both America based) and that might be a fairer match...
Apples litigation only alienates consumers. I for one will never purchase another product from them no matter how good it is.
They should try competing with products instead of competing in the court room.
I mean after sometime you just lose respect - they are in news for these court cases lately. If they had put this much energy in improving their own product(s), they wouldn't have to fall back on "retina" every time a new (really ?) product was released..

Why is it cool a celebrity uses it, in fact I don't get the whole celebrity endorsement thing anyway.
I have never once in my life bought anything based on an endorsement.
My thought is, as all companies do it, instead of paying them millions for a commercial, use that money in other ways that would actually Increase sales.

They are using money to increase sales, with celebrity endorsements. It works because people want a phone like Taylor Swift has, it might help them shake it off even better.
It looks like he genuininely is using the phone as his personal device (using the spen for instance). He's certainly not posing for photos with it. I think people have him all wrong.
Celebrity endorsements really don't mean anything to me, but, at the same time, it's nice to see a Hollywood star ditch the iPhone and use an Android, much less a Note 4.

There is no person alive that if I walked up to them it would make me scream, cry, or act crazy.
Got off on a rant there sorry, it just irritates me people on here are getting screwed with their orders or returns but I bet Samsung has given millions to people to carry and promote the phone

Agreed, and don't take this the wrong way, your signature says john 3:16 and there is no one on the planet that would make me fall for any religion, why is it cool to just believe, when we have a thinking brain?
Just saying, there are things that bother us, but we need to learn to live and let live.
I am all for live and let live.
Not sure what my signature has to do with anything whatsoever to do with anything mentioned but by all means, use your thinking brain in any way you please.

If you think for 1 second that these clebs get millions to carry a phone around then you are nuts. They may get a phone for free but thats about it. Unless its a TV deal for a select few then that is about it. If its not on TV its usally just free swag.
