[Q] I'm thinking about getting one - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo General

I have the gs4 (mdk) now, but I'm thinking about getting a Droid Turbo. Does anyone know if it has an unlocked bootloader? Thanks

Not at this time. Possibly not ever but seeing that the last 2 generations of Droids eventually got unlocked I'd say there is a chance. It just might take a while

Doing homework, wise! I bought a gs4 and took an OTA that same day, not realizing I needed MDK. Hated that phone ever since! However, I'm loving my turbo. I do miss the slimness of gs4 in a minimal case, but that's probably because there aren't any good slim turbo cases yet.

Does the Maxx have an unlocked bootloader?

It seems that it will have, it will sell through the Motorola web store, but I can't confirm for sure until the release.

I am no dev, but I am very good with Lynx, so I plan to become a dev for the incredible. I want to bring good to this Incredible Device.
Basically if Paul is successful completing the root of the Desire, the Incredible should be a shoe in. The Desire is half rooted so to speak.
I just put in my Pre-order and will be pulling a Kitchen/ROMs together once we get root....
I worked on the Eris Root and that was pretty damn tough...but we got that done as well as rooting the HTC Tatoo in the process
So I will have ROMs/Mods in the future.....as well as another couple Dev friends of mine that are heading over as well!

Looking to jump the T-Mobile ship and get this phone as well. Sweet phone.
And invisiblek, small world.
as this phone had google branding on the back, will this phone have an unlocked bootloader like the N1 and moto droid?

I wasn't aware that the MotoDroid could be unlocked in the same manner as the N1.
To the best of my knowledge, Verizon has no plans of letting any phone they release be rootable out of the box. They have the most stringent controls of any network carrier and given the size of their network in the US, they don't have to compromise.
HTC Incredible
I'll be receiving mine wednesday, hopefully will get into this thing very deep, willing to help, count me in.
Just placed my pre-order yesterday. Can't wait to root it
I might end up doing some dev work on this thing... we'll see
Can't wait to jump from my current 400mhz/128mb ram vogue to this!

The moto droid does not have an unlocked bootloader like the n1. and this will more than likely follow the same suit as the desire and legend, so whatever paul did to root the desire and legend will more than likely work on the incredible. hold tight guys, im hoping to start developing on the incredible as soon as i can afford one

Liked some of the work you did on the vogue/kaiser stuff. Do you also work on bootloader unlocking?

New phones rootable?

Hello,
I have an order through best buy and they said
I should be getting my phone in a week.
Are the Incredibles that are shipping now rootable still?
I got mine at best buy 2 weeks ago and rooted it.

[Im]patiently awaiting for recovery, ROMs, root, and debloat

Damn! I just can't use stock phones anymore!! The XDA Community moves so fast I thought that by now there would already be a ROM dump (it's been less than a day, I know). I suppose we need a recovery first. The hardware looks good. I know it has a slightly larger battery than the II, but if 3's actual battery life is anywhere near the II on custom ROMs, I'd be a very happy camper. Let the devs begin! :good:
I know me to. It bootloader let's locked again, maybe thinking about either getting a unlocked TMobile version or wait for Canadian unlocked.

There's a good chance the bootloader will be locked, in which case it might be a long time before you see any of those things you want

Dang not the warm and fuzzy I was hoping for. So my ATT is due to be delivered this am. Or I can spend $400.00 more and go buy a T-Mobile. Crap I was hoping for a Root already.
I am hoping for something like Loki for this phone. It is great hardware but has too much crapware installed. Root would be good just to be able to remove some of it.

Go in to all apps and "disable" all the AT&T and Samsung BS apps you don't want......

The fact that carriers lock the bootloader is both futile and absurd. If they consider the big picture, keeping it unlocked would actually help sales. I realize that they have a business objective to protect and want to maintain their marketing strategy, but the the bootloader almost always gets broken in the end. If they consider that single fact--then they should come to this conclusion: Why put people through hoops to get the access if they will eventually get it anyway? It just pisses people off.
Locking the bootloader does nothing for those who have no interest in root, etc. It does bring bad will for those who want root and will eventually get it.
It's just silly. Give people what they want!!

Hey CF, can we financially entice you to have a crack [pardon the pun] at it? I'm in for $20.

It'd be a waste. There are people far more talented at bootloader hacking than I am, better throw your money at them instead.

I'll give you that. I suppose I would still rather get a T-Mo N3 to run on ATT... iPhone is so... 2 dimensional.
Does anyone remember how long it took the Note II's bootloader to get cracked?

The note 2 never had a locked bootloader.
Usually before it hits stores.

Is it true that, with the many phones that have arrived with a locked bootloader, they have almost always been cracked at some point?

There is often an exploit at some point, but I don't recall any devices with locked bootloaders being truly cracked.

Motorola Shamu Is Coming!

Rumored to be a nexus phone. I'm more excited for this than the new maxx. It's like a Maxx version of the Maxx

LG G3 Received VoLTE Update - Good News for Droid Turbo?

http://www.droid-life.com/2014/12/05/lg-g3-on-verizon-gets-advanced-calling-1-0-volte-in-update/
The Droid Turbo needs this same update to allow for simultaneous voice/data. I personally feel that Moto/Verizon will include the VoLTE update and Lollipop update in the same release for the Droid Turbo!
What does everyone else think?
Saw this on geekbytes, I don't know about everyone else but I'm starting to think we're not going to see any kind of updates at all. Ha ha

Since the Lg G3 came out about a half a year before the droid turbo, why would you not just think that the Droid Turbo would be next? You not believe in a chronological order?
