Got it. Thanks.

Is it worth getting the Dev. edition. I got the retail version today and just sold my Note 3. I dont want to have to sell this one then wait for the shipping of the new one. I will be happy with root access. right now none of the Verizon editions have root. Am I right?

Unlocked Galaxy S III LTE

Hey all. I currently have an Old ATT Infuse 4G running a custom rom. However, ATT has ticked me off one too many times and I'm looking to jump ship. The only realistic possibility for LTE speeds in my area is Verizon. However, they lock the bootloader on the new Galaxy S III.
I know there is now a way to root it, but I'd prefer to buy an unlocked version to avoid a contract and get away form the bloatware and other disadvantages of buying direct from Verizon.
That brings me to my problem. The only unlocked versions I've seen online so far have been the international version that does not support LTE. Anyone seen an unlocked LTE version for sale out there? Any rumors of one being offered anywhere?
Thanks for your help ahead of time....
No.

According to an article I read yesterday on Engadget Samsung is going to be selling a "developer edition" for Verizon. You'll have to buy it off contract and directly from Samsung but it gets you what you want.

Sweet. Did the article say when they would be offering it? Ok, so I'm being lazy, but do you by chance have the link for the article?
Thanx for the help....

Sorry hadn't been back on till now but yeah I didn't see any release info it all was new when I read it
I finally had enough of AT&T but couldn't wait for the developers edition. Bought Verizon branded. Actually impressed with it. It's not tough to get around the locked boot loader anymore thanx to all the great XDAian's out there. I haven't actually rooted a custom rom because I'm too decide what stock features I like what I don't.
However, I will say this is my favorite phone so far.

Developer Edition Available Soon

Developer edition is now up on Samsung's website: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SCH-I535MBCVZW. Not available for order quite yet but you may want to bookmark this page if you plan on getting one. With the Verizon bootloader unlock bounty set at over $2000 it would cover the cost of three development phones
Who's gonna get one?

[Q] Note 3 - Retail or Dev Edition? (Need info ASAP please)

So, been looking at the Note 3. Been tempted to pick it up. Just now finding out there is a Dev Edition with an unlocked bootloader. Right now Verizon has the retail Note 3 on sale for $599 (goes back up to $699 tomorrow). I'm ready to splurge on it, but should I get the Dev Edition instead? If so, where do you find them? Even though what I've read suggests that Verizon and Samsung have teamed up to offer the Dev Edition, the Verizon store nearest me has never heard of the DevEd and says they'd never sell anything with an unlocked bootloader (no surprise there).
Does the DevEd offer anything that you guys haven't already achieved with the retail version?
Samsung has the Verizon developer edition listed: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SM-N900VMKEVZW but it's still not available. My brother just bought the $599 regular phone from Verizon because he didn't think the developer version was worth waiting for or worth an extra $100.
Ah, gotcha.
I just picked up the retail version for $599. Gonna see what version it's on and all that. I mainly just need free tethering for my iPad. That's a must-have for me and the main reason I was hesitant to leave the DNA.
I've never been much for custom roms, as they always seem to develop issues and I feel like I'm constantly troubleshooting something. I rooted/unlocked my DNA just to get WiFi Tether working and never did anything else to it. Served me well the whole year without any major issues. No real reason for me to wait around for the DevEd Note and pay more for it.

Factory unlocked note 4 question.

I just have a quick question, there's a store that sells factory unlocked Verizon and Att&T Note 4's and my question is (sounds dumb) are the bootloaders locked as well? I'm looking forward to buying one in April, but if the bootloader is still locked even though it's a factory unlocked device I'm not going to buy it since I want a unlocked bootloader for obvious reasons.
Verizon sells a developers edition that has an unlocked bootloader.. i have not heard of Att selling a unlocked bootloader edition.
Their devices(att) are locked up tight like fort knox...

That's the thing that gets me and I don't think the store owner knows of the developer editions. I asked him and he hasn't replied to me, lol.

Thanks I'm going to need it, lol. I've dealt with a bootloader locked device the LGL70 for metro pcs, for about a week or so then someone unlocked the bootloader and boy was I excited, lol. Apparently in the Verizon Note 4 section there's progress. Knowing how I am I'm just going to get the Verizon Note 4 and just wait only because the store who's selling it can give it to me on an monthly payment plan. I can't really afford to dish out the money for the dev edition.

can't unlock bootloader on Verizon HTC 10?

There is no OEM unlocking option in my Developer settings. There is also no fastboot option in either the bootloader or download modes. I'm not sure what options I have to unlocking and rooting my phone. I hope there is something I can do, but I'm not sure how to proceed.
only @beaups and @jcase can unlock the bootloader. go to theroot.ninja
I totally thought this was a troll when I saw the username JustinChase asking about unlocking a phone we just unlocked (my monkier is justincase or jcase) then I saw the join date
Just buy the US unlocked version. There's a $100 code so it's cheaper than the Verizon version, it'll have better ROM support and it has more LTE bands than the Verizon variant.
The only downside is that we'll have to wait for devs to integrate IMS and the other components for Advanced Calling to work properly but it definitely can be done. Xdabbeb used to integrate all the needed components into his G3/G2 hybrid ROM that had an international base.

ha, no, not trolling, just didn't see your news before I posted this. I've been around for a long time, just been away from HTC for several years.
I'm glad to hear you guys got it unlocked, and am looking forward to sending you some money for Sunshine once ready.

Fyi: That code expired May 4.
Is there a new code?
Yeah just use HTC1011. I just ordered the unlocked version using it.
