Android Lollipop! - Desire 816 General

Looks like a new leak says there WILL be Lollipop for our device, however it probably won't come until between March and April. This isn't 100% confirmed but its pretty likely, check out the full article with the details!

Update On Froyo Upate

Just saw a news blip on droid-life.com that said, "Been wondering why you had not seen the Droid Incredible OTA update we were reporting on over the weekend? According to a BGR source, HTC is adding Android 2.2 to the package and plans to release it by the end of July or the beginning of August. Yes, you just read that correctly."
Just passing the rumors along to those concerned
EDIT: Delete this, someone posted same topic over top of me thanks

Looks like the official Froyo has leaked.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783403
International version only.
There is a user whom everyone respects in that thread, who almost certainly has an inside scoop into Samsung's affairs. He claims this is the one.
Not final and not froyo
I guess time will tell, but many are convinced at #project-voodoo.

Pretty sure this is froyo. rhcp posted on his Twitter about this last night.
The T-Mobile leaked ROM we got recently is not Froyo, but according to the many posts this is Froyo for the International version. I'd imagine the US version is not far behind.
Samsung previously announced Sept 23 as the date that Galaxy S Froyo would be released to the carriers. This doesn't mean that we'll get OTA immediately after. TMO needs to brand/bloat it before enabling OTA. Even though Sept has been quoted repeatedly, I don't believe it's accurate for when we the end user will receive it. Considering the uproar around the GPS issue, I can see why they didn't wait for 2.2 to push out a fix before then.
We don't really need an ota version. As long as I can flash it with minimal glitchyness, I'm happy.

Samsung has said nothing about Froyo release for any of the US versions of the Galaxy S. The only thing that was said by Samsung UK was Froyo to be released in September and a rumor from a non-confirmed source about the 23rd. I have no doubt that the "official" update for the international version will be in soon, but i kind of doubt that the one leaked today was the official version, from what i've heard theres still a few bugs.

Possibly?

Not trying to start another WE WANT FROYO thread, but came across this today.
http://www.mobilewhack.com/samsung-fascinate-getting-android-froyo-2-2-before-end-of-2010/
saw that today too, but didn't post it because it looks outdated. It says the droid x will get flash(froyo) by the end of summer 2010, and it got the update in september or so.
saw that to, i would just like to un-cross my fingers finally.
I could see it as a possibility, but not likely, january seems like more likely. Especially after the thread "Update on froyo", since it's suppose to be from a semi-reliable source. Only time will truly tell, soon enough we will have the update.

4.3 next month and 4.4 confirmed

Sony announced which devices get 4.4 today and the timeline for 4.3 rollout. Seems like we should have 4.3 next month!

Which means, it could be the end of the month. So we'll have people whining on Dec. 2nd about "where is it". They also stated again about phased rollouts.
So we'll have people posting on Dec. 31st how they'll "never buy sony again" because their device has not yet updated. That'll be good times again!

This is a GOOD NEWS!!!
At least SONY is confirming that we have an upcoming updates... waiting patiently here,,,
If you believe Sony will update our tablet in a timely manner I have just one word for you, and that word is lol
I am just in the process of looking for a new tab. The Z is on my short list. It would be my first Sony. Strictly Asus until now. However, I noticed that the blog post specifically mentions handsets for the update? For those of you that are long term Sony owners, when you see a quote like the one above does that usually include the tablet version as well?
Update: Sorry, found a much more complete answer on their blog and YES it is absolutely confirmed.

Makes my decision a no brainer. Tab Z it is - ordering today.
Update again: And straight from Sony: http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2013/11/07/on-jelly-bean-4-3-kit-kat-4-4/
for all the haters here and does not know the word patient, you better sell your sony Xperia and buy a Nexus device for faster updates. or better buy an ios for a monthly update.hehehe lol..peace mates...
we should be thankful their confirming those future updates... be cool guys...

Update Signs?

First off let me say I Do Not intend for this to be another whine thread....
Just wanted to reach out and see if anyone has had any signs of an update. I recall from one of the previous now closed threads started one user mentioned the 5th as being a possible date. Though seemingly arbitrary date the 5th is here.
People chime in if you get the notification!
Nothing for me yet.
It probably won't come out until the new Google phones do. I know it's difficult for flashaholics, but be patient.
Now I'm waiting for the September security update for Marshmallow, maybe it will be late too. They seem to be in a huge work.
This thread is the best sign.

That's what intended mine to be, but it went south so fast! Lol no sign for me yet, I'm hoping maybe by tonight. It's REALLY behind said release date. Staying optimistic!
This is the only sign from Google I have seen.
Absolutely notting here. Not even the sept security update.
There will be a September in 2017,too
If I'm remembering the same post, a user speculated that the update would be tied to the September monthly security update. That seemed like pure speculation. I hope the updates are posted soon but I don't think today will be the day, since it is already the afternoon and a business holiday. Hope I'm wrong!
Hope it's soon.

Maybe tomorrow then, I forgot it was a holiday. What gets me is how they got everyone all riled up that it was gonna be in August, and it's gonna be out at the same time haha
Yeah Im ready for the official build too, this NPD90G preview wants me to want more, or at least some minor fixes.
No updates.............there will be speculations.
No speculations.....probably updates.
From what I've heard Qualcomm needs to do some driver upgrades for full Android N Support. If that is the case, it would explain why Google hasn't released the update yet, they simply can't until Qualcomm delivers. I can imagine Qualcomm has their hands full at the moment with all the smartphone companies out their requesting driver updates to support Android N as well.
I don't have any references for this, as I read it in a post somewhere but don't remember where. Don't take my word for it. But of course it would be interesting if someone could confirm or deny this.
I don't expect the update any time soon, but at least the latest beta runs very smoothly on my device. Can't complain at the moment.
Thats what has confused me DP5 runs well so id have thought it was near release quality but I guess not with the update taking so long. As far as qualcomm surely google should be the highest priority for drivers/updates given that they build the entire base that all other android phones base off? So an N driver for a specific SoC should work for all devices using that SoC?
I'm pretty satisfied with the Uber N ROM as is.
What @onemandivision said is correct, driver updates are critical. It's not just the kernel and the android base.
I'm a little confused by the delay though since it is already clear that phones on chips older than snapdragon 800/801 won't get nougat (ie 65-70% of all android phones according to some surveys), so there should be very few drivers to update/fine tune? Am I wrong?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA-Developers mobile app
september update , my s7 edge still has the july update , samsung are dam slow pushing updates , my nexus 6 has the latest dev update but hope oneday soon the real 7.0 comes out.
