Xperia Z1C Lollipop 5.0.2 Update & Discussion here ! - Xperia Z1 Compact General

Hey guys,
I think it would be cool to put a specific thread about lollipop update in here, so we dont have like 4352 threads regarding the update.

http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_plans_...eria_z_line_to_android_lollipop-news-9960.php
Z3 and Z2 variants will commence in early 2015, so there is some time to our Z1c
honestly, i dont mind gettting 5.0 we all know how the first variant of a major update is always buggy. I would rather wait for 5.1 when it comes...

I know Sony added z1 and z2 to their aosp for xperia project and made an unified kernel, is this going to help with lollipop developement on z1c?

Maybe AOSP Lollipop will come out first since it's closest to stock android. I don't expect much from the official update in terms of looks since all sony stock android versions look almost the same. If they manage to implement all 5.0 features (that includes camera apis, new task manager etc.) that would be just great and for the first time I'll be satisfied from Sony's update and will know what I've given my money for.

They did come out with 4.4.4 REALLY fast. Let's hope they do the same with lollipop. I wouldn't mind if they didn't skin it?

What are the chances that we receive 5.0.2 (wich is releasing today) instead of 5.0.0 ??

The same as 5.0 Sony will update our phone in new year so I think that we receive already latest version
Wysłane z mojego D5503 przy użyciu Tapatalka

From the promotion video, the theme in Sony CES 2015 is all about 5.0 and Lollipop. So, it's safe to guess that Sony will tell us the final schedule during at that time.
I believe Z3/Z3c/Z2 will receive update on Jan or Feb then Z1/Z1c follows on March.

According to recent news sony will release update on feb for z3, then when we going to recieve it dec 2015.......

KK is working just fine for me. of course i want Lollipop too, but as recent news said, there still bugs in 5.0.2. so i dont mind waiting a little more for bugfree lolipop on my device.

It's not like the updates are flying to us

+1, KK is working very well. I would just like to see if Sony improves Z1C camera software in Lollipop when it comes out, but of course I prefer to wait a few months (march, april) to have a bugfree version of L.
Regards.

this thread needs a poll, my guess is April

It means Sony has not updated TMO with the info yet. That is understandable considering the international models don't even have a test version according to PTRCB. Once it's in testing (for TMO version: D6616) it will be listed.
Since you have the international version you will probably get it much earlier than us.
The Z1/Z3 are finally mentioned, status shows as "Manufacturer Development".
Now Z1s and Z3 in 2nd stage.

Looks like bad news for the Z3, they are saying update is "Months" away not weeks.

Same here. Sony and T-Mobile are probably sad that this phone is now rooted lol I'm surprised that they tried very hard to block people from rooting it but screw them!
Root alone won't let you update to a generic 5.0.2 ROM though. Still need to unlock the bootloader.

No you do not. You can have root on a Sony lollipop rom with a locked bootloader.
However, if you mean CM or AOSP etc, then you always need an unlocked bootloader for that

CONFIRMED Official Lollipop 5.1 for Moto X 2013 [UPDATED 06-19-2015]

Source: David Schuster - https://plus.google.com/+DavidSchuster/posts/cV4vDyyMmw2
LATEST UPDATE [06-19-2015]
Full deployment has started for US Retail, Brazil Retail and Rogers in Canada.
Source: David Schuster - https://plus.google.com/+DavidSchuster/posts/bEVD4De32Uo
UPDATE [06-09-2015]
"I wanted to give a quick update on where we are with the Lollipop upgrades for the 2013 Moto X (1st Gen) devices.
We have started full soak testing in France and Germany retail this week with the expectation of full deployment next week if all goes well.
In addition, we have addressed an issue we found in a previous soak test and should start full soak testing in the US and Brazil for retail later this week. If all goes well, full deployment can happen the following week.
There were some questions about support for Lollipop upgrades from our carrier channels. We are in a number of the carrier labs now so we don't anticipate issues in getting the upgrades deployed. As you guys know.... the carrier channels typically take longer.
UPDATE: If all goes well with the soak testing this week we expect to start deployment for 2013 Moto X (1st gen) in India next week."

UPDATE [04-22-2015]
Due to the "leaks" about 5.1 "updates rolling out" in Brazil, here's some trusted words in regard to 5.1 current state:
"We're still in testing. We'll post something in the parked comments when it moves to the Soak stage and then again when full deployment happens. Don't always believe what you read online."

Do you mean those who installed 5.0.2 test drive?
I don't think Motorola would leave the official MFN testers on an incomplete test drive version, furthermore it makes sense to use the same testers to test 5.1, so as soon as those users get 5.1 it will leak and those who sideloaded 5.0.2 will have the upgrade.
Otherwise, it would be as easy as return to 4.4.4 temporary (skipping gpt and motoboot) and sideload the 5.1 upgrade, not big deal.
No matter what, the situation is not to feel bad about them, maybe they'll even get the upgrade before you do.
I have an brazilian XT 1058 and take the soak. I will be able to update to 5.1?
Logically yes.

I'm not saying Moto did or did not fix anything, but so many people keep saying "Ohhh its version XXXX which has XXXX bug!"
1.) We don't run AOSP
2.) When google updates android, all of those changes are published. 5.1 is NOT a full re-write, sections of code are fixed. These fixes are published and if moto REALLY felt like it they could apply all the same code changes to a 5.0.1 base... At that point what is "version number" is is kinda semantics....
Moto started work on 5.0.2, so that is what their build is called, there is no reason they cannot include the already published bug fixes from later versions of android so they they can release their tested a developed build rather then throwing everything away and starting with a new base every time google updates.

I have searched everywhere but I have never seen a real answer to this question: is the 5.1.1 update bring the touchwiz update? What does it bring exactly?

When Samsung update the freakin' Note 4 to 5.1.1 we may end up getting the new TouchWix UX or whatever it's called, but in all honesty I don't think that's going to happen (just my opinion)- we'll probably get the new TouchWiz with Android M.

The American variants have 5.1.1 and don't have the new tw and theme engine.
When we do get 5.1.1 it will make it a lot easier to port s6 and n5 features though so you will see lots of custom roms with the new launcher

My last phone was an LG, but was also an ATT phone. Updates took around 1-2 months to receive after other variants of my phone got their updates. But LG released their updates at about the same speed at Samsung IMO. However, I think they at least kept people up to date with ETAs.

Xperia Z4 tablet and Android 7.0 Nougat

Hi,
Good news,it seems that Sony would plan an update of our tablet:
http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2016/08/23/sony-xperia-and-android-7-0-nougat/
thank you to Sony to keep this tablet up to date
Good news. But I guess it'll be after new year(((
Very good news. It's nice to see great support for this tablet.
Great news! This will likely be our last significant update - and I'm guessing the Z4 Tablet is probably Sony's last entry in that segment of the market, too* -- so hopefully Nougat is all it's cracked up to be!
* The Tablet Z, Z2 Tablet and Z4 Tablet were all announced on almost exactly a one-year schedule. That means we should've expected a replacement last late February / early March. The fact we've gone 18 months without a replacement suggests strongly that Sony has given up on tablets.
Seems like other companies are toning it down too

yup maybe
but sadly z5c got only 1.8GB
barely got this device 6 months
and games like CSR 2 left the phone with only 250MB free RAM
and all backward apps had to force close down even home screen reloaded again
i know 64 bit takes more RAM and support more than 3.5GB
i hope it will be fine.. anyway like you all said.. probably it will be out ,at least 6 months from now

I gave this build a try on my device:
Everything seemed to work okay except camera. The camera app wouldn't open. I didn't have the chance to try any other camera because I was unsure how to properly get gapps onto my phone to try third party cameras.
I did get gapps on there, but it involved installing the ROM through TWRP, then flashing back the kernel that could be used with TWRP, flashing Gapps, then flashing back the AOSP kernel. However, once I did this, Google Play Services kept crashing.
Gave up after that XD
thanks for feed back @largehamburgerhat , i want to install this rom but there is .img files in zip file, how can i flash this files ? also did you flashed opengapps ?

So I'm guessing FXP builds these using Sony's AOSP build guide: http://developer.sonymobile.com/ope...uild-aosp-nougat-for-unlocked-xperia-devices/
At the end, they mention this:
fastboot –S 256M flash boot out/target/product/<device>/boot.img
fastboot –S 256M flash system out/target/product/<device>/system.img
fastboot –S 256M flash userdata out/target/product/<device>/userdata.img
Simply boot your device into fastboot mode, extract the .img files and run those commands! (of course, make sure to change and use the correct path where it says "out/target/...")
I cant get the camera working with any app nor the flashlight but i did get google play services working . Flashed boot, system and userdata images and TWRP as recovery then micro gapps before first boot .
Front camera working ,also while charging only led working but no detail in settings, sound wonderful with music
