Update Via ADB Sideload:
LINK T0 MINIMAL ADB & FASTBOOT > Download
LINK T0 OTA FILE > KITKAT 4.4.4 THX Gogeta
If you have a stock recovery , follow the simple steps below for flashing the update through ADB sideload.
1. Switch off your Moto E device and wait until it is completely turned off.
2. Hold the Volume Dowm button while rebooting the device, you’ll see the fastboot menu and the word start.
3. Press Volume Up a few times until you see the Recovery menu and then press the Power button to enter recovery. You will see an Android logo with a red exclamation mark.
4. Now press Volume Up+Power buttons together, and you should see the recovery menu.
5. Select the 2nd option from the menu called apply update from adb.
6. Now connect the device to the computer with proper drivers on your PC and with the latest ADB installed on it.
7. Now place the downloaded file,

Blur_Version.20.11.14.condor_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03.zip
in the same directory where you have the adb files
i.e.

C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
and hold SHIFT key on your keyboard and RIGHT CLICK and select “Open command window here” (as shown in the below image).
8. Open-command-window-inside-any-folder
Now type or copy/paste the following command in the command prompt to install the Update on your device.

adb sideload Blur_Version.174.44.1.falcon_umts.AWSRetail.en.US.zip
Now you should see the Update installing on your device after the progress bar in the command prompt reaches 100%.
Once installed, reboot your device from the menu.
That’s all, wait until the device boots and it usually takes some time build cache as the device booting for the first time after the update. Be extremely excited on your new Android 4.4.4 update on your Moto E.

Any modified zip didn't work for me. So, I downgraded to stock, restored recovery, etc and adb sideloaded OTA. Worked fine.

Here We have the Root And CWM for Nexus 7 On Android 4.2.2!
Step 1 - Download Android SDK from the Android Developers website and install with USB drivers. See: How to Set Up Android SDK (Fastboot / ADB) on Windows.
Step 2 - Enable USB Debugging mode in your Nexus 7 tablet.
Step 3 - Download Fastboot and extract it in android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory. Create directory if not already there.
NOTE: Skip Steps 1, 2, 3 if you already have them.
Step 4 - Download SuperSU v1.04 (UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip) and copy it to your sdcard on your Nexus 7 tablet.
Step 5 - Make sure you have backup your data as it will be removed. Then switch OFF your Nexus 7.
Step 6 - Download recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.2.3-grouper.img and copy/paste it in the android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory.
Step 7 - Now go into Fastboot Mode on Nexus 7. How? Press Volume Down + UP + Power key for a few seconds till you see some text on the screen.
Step 8 - Navigate to android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory and open Command Prompt (Shift + Right-click > Open Command Prompt).
Step 9 - Type in the following command and press Enter.

Step 10 - Once completed, choose RECOVERY MODE from the Fastboot menu and enter Recovery Mode.
Step 11 - Then scroll down to “flash zip from SD card” and press the Power button to select it.
Step 12 - Press the Power button again and select “choose zip from sdcard”.
Step 13 - Now using your volume keys, navigate to the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip file that you copied to your SD card and select it using the Power button. Confirm the installation on the next screen and the installation procedure should start now.
Step 14 - After the installation completes, go to “+++++Go Back” and reboot the phone by selecting “reboot system now” from the recovery menu. Then Choose yes flash recovery back (this will make CWM your permanent recovery mode)
That’s it. Your Nexus 7 is now rooted on Android 4.2.2 JDQ39 software version of Jelly Bean and even has a custom CWM recovery installed. Check for the SuperSU app in your apps list to verify.

Step 4 and step 7
I am a little confused about step 4 as I didn't think any nexus 7's had a SD card slot. I purchased mine right from google. I just put the zip file directly on the device itself and I know from my experience with my old Nexus One that this works too, just wondering who is selling the one with SD card slots. My second question, and really the more important one is step 7. I have tried to make the device go into fastboot several times and when I hold the volume keys down, the device boots to a black screen with no ability to do anything after that. If I mess with the power button (meaning I hold it in for a long time then let it out, and do this several times) I can get the device to preform a normal boot. Any thoughts?

Thanks a million man! I was having all kinds of trouble updating to 4.2.2 and finally figured that out. Then I was having problems rooting again until I found this. Your method worked great but I used TWRP instead and it still did the trick. Thanks again.
I tried this but when I want to flash the recovery, my fastboot.exe will then not respond and will try to close. What gives?

Just a quick note here, to enter Fastboot Mode you just need to turn the Nexus 7 off, then turn on again, soon as you see the Google logo press the Volume Down key and hold (Hold both Power button and Volume Down Key).
No need for holding the power button, the vol down button does the whole trick

re-install the fastboot with all it's extensions in the same folder!
If you want to use fastboot by a easy way, use this guide you don't need adb line command, just fastboot line command and it's an child game by this way
If you have got a problem with your adb or fastboot or recovery....it's very simply and faster
use this:
Download this file "Fastboot.zip"
Install this file somewhere in one folder which is named "fastboot" on your PC
=> disk C: root
Unzipped this file on the folder "fastboot" and you will find 3 files:
- adb.exe
- AdbWinApi.dll
- fastboot.exe
and when you need to push something by the bootloader, you can use it.
Don't forget to push on this folder the file that you need. For exemple: boot.img or a recovery.img, etc...

Ok, so I am running the 4.2.2 update, and after jumping through numerous hoops trying to have my device recognized by adb, I just want to make sure that my very first step should be to boot up in fastboot mode and then issue the following command...
"fastboot oem unlock"
???
Then I can go ahead and proceed to flashing the CWM recovery and flashing the SuperSU file...?

Forget about ADB when your tablet is in FASTBOOT/BOOTLOADER mode...
Here are the salient commands....

- should return a serial number to confirm your FASTBOOT connection -

- will unlock the BOOTLOADER and will WIPE and FACTORY RESET THE DEVICE; unfortunate, but necessary .

With the BOOTLOADER unlocked, begin to set up your Nexus 7 again... as though it was a brand new, just purchased tablet... ie., country, regionalization, WiFi key... etc.
Go online with your Nexus 7 browser (Chrome), and download Chainfire's SU Updater .ZIP package from here...

Upon completion of this download, shut down the tablet.

When the self-congratulatory round of self applause has died down, ... and with the Nexus 7 still in FASTBOOT/ BOOTLOADER MODE, use the VOL buttons to navigate and the POWER button to select... reboot into RECOVERY.
Using the new CUSTOM RECOVERY, flash Chainfires SU updater package that you downloaded earlier... usually found in the /download folder...
Done.
Reboot.
Rooted.

[ROOTING] On a Mac OS via Fastboot

I have a Mac and the Find 5.
Here's how I went about quickly rooting my phone via fastboot.
(1) Download this file and extract it. Root_Find5_Mac_Fastboot.zip
(2) Extract it, there you should find fastboot file and recovery.img
(3) Power off your phone
(4) Get into Fastboot mode on your phone by simultaneously holding down the power and volumn up/+ buttons for about 30 seconds
(5) If you have successfully entered Fastboot mode, you should see "Fastboot" along with some Chinese characters
(6) Connect your phone to your Mac with the USB cable
(7) Launch Terminal, and cd to the Root_Find5_Mac_Fastboot directory
(8) Execute ./fastbook devices to confirm that everything is connected properly
(9) Execute ./fastboot boot recovery.img to temporarily install TWRP recovery, and reboot into it
(10) When you have automatically rebooted into TWRP recovery, click on "Reboot" ===> "System" ====> slide the lower bar to the right to reboot phone.
(11) Once rebooted, find and launch SuperSU installer in the app drawer.
(12) The installer will update itself via Google Play Store
(13) Once updated, you have rooted.
Great thing about this method is that your stock recovery will remained installed and unaltered.

This works wonderfully, however with this phone u don't need a PC or Mac to root. Just look up the Find 5 root zip forum ...just flash that zip in stock recovery... Done.

./fastboot devices doesn't show any connected devices although the phone is in fastboot mode and connected via usb.
It works fine on my windows 8 laptop. Could it be a problem with OS X Mavericks?

Idiots guide to unlocking sony Z1

After hours of trying different methods to root the z1, and struggling with chinese based apps ... and accidentally wiping the phone ..... nothing manage to root the phone. until i came across the following,
anyways to make life easy i have complied all the steps that you need to do to root the phone from 3 seperate guides. I didnt write this article i just compiled it for easy reading

This guide is only for Sony Xperia Z1 C6903/2.
1. Do not try this on any other model, please check your device’s mode in Settings > About Device.
2. The CWM / TWRP recovery is only for Xperia Z1 C6903/C6902 running latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean 14.2.A.0.290 firmware. Check your firmware version in Settings > About Device and make sure that it matches the one mentioned here.
3. You must have installed Android ADB & Fastboot drivers.
TO INSTALL ADB & Fastboot Drivers tool:
a. Download the Minimal ADB & Fastboot Drivers tool: Link 1 | Link 2
b. Run the minimaltool.exe file that you downloaded and install the tool.
c. You can run the tool now by either through the Start menu, through the icon that you created on the desktop or by opening Program files > Minimal ADB & Fastboot > Right click on an empty area while keeping the shift key pressed and click on “Open Command Window Here”. ( NOTE: just double clicking on the desktop icon opens the command prompt window)
d. Use the Command prompt to do whatever you want now!
e. To install any .img file, you will have to place that file in the Minimal Tool folder that is located under Program files. (in win8.1 its : C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot)
f. To access the Fastboot mode, you’ll have to first bring the Fastboot mode on your device and then connect it. E.g on HTC devices you can highlight Fastboot mode by accessing it through HBoot and then connect it, while on Sony you can turn off the device and then while keeping the back or volume up key pressed plug in the USB cable.
That’s All! You’ve successfully installed Android ADB & Fastboot drivers. I hope that it didn’t take more than 2 minutes for you.
4. Your device must have an unlocked bootloader. This is the slightly troublesome part but its straight forward.
How to Unlock Bootloader
Install Android ADB & Fastboot Drivers using the quick setup with Minimal tool. Find the guide here.
Now first of all you need to check if your device’s bootloader unlocking is allowed or not, to do so open the dailer on your device.
Type *#*#7378423#*#*.
As soon as you enter the above code, a menu will open up.
Tap Service info > Configuration > Bootloader Unlock. If it says Yes, that means bootloader unlocking is allowed, else you can also find out if the Bootloader is already unlocked.
Now in the dialer type “*#06#”, you should get the IMEI number of your phone. Note it down somewhere
After verifying the bootloader unlock permission, turn off your device completely.
Now open the Minimal ADB and Fastboot command prompt, that you created using the guide above.
Press the back key or Volume Up key on your Xperia Device and connect it to your PC while keeping the key pressed. The back key works for older Xperia devices, while for newer devices Volume Up key will work.
In case you are trying to unlock the bootloader of your Sony Xperia Z1, please make sure that it’s running on latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware. If you tried to unlock bootloader on Android 4.2.2 firmware, it will cause the camera crash on your device.
In the command prompt type: fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version and press enter, you should get a response now e.g (0.3). This step is to verify that your device is properly connected or not.
Now open this Pageand accept the legal terms and conditions by Sony to unlock the bootloader.
After accepting the legal terms and conditions, enter your name, your phone’s IMEI number (Remove the last digit of IMEI number) and your email and click Submit button
You should receive an email by Sony immediately, the email has the Key to unlock your phone’s bootloader.
Now again in the command prompt type this com: fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY. Repalce KEY with the code that you got in the email by Sony and hit Enter.
As soon as you hit Enter, the bootloader will be unlocked and show you logs in the command prompt.
5 . Please make sure that your phone’s battery is charged at least over 60%. This is highly recommended in order to prevent any power issues during the recovery flashing process.
6. Please make sure that you backup all of your important media content, contacts, call logs and important text messages. This is highly recommended so that in case something goes wrong, you can still restore your data.
7. Use only OEM data cable to establish connection between your PC and Phone.
8. Now that the basics are done.... this is how to root
How to Install TWRP / CWM Recovery on Xperia Z1 C6903 and C6902:
Download your desired recovery.img file:
i recommend philz advance cwm , its easier and you arent required to download supersu
Philz Advance CWM Recovery for Xperia Z1 C6903/2
CWM Recovery for Xperia Z1 C6903/2
TWRP Recovery for Xperia Z1 C6903/2
Place the downloaded Recovery.img file in the Minimal ADB & Fastboot folder that you created using our ADB & Fastboot Quick Setup Guide.
If you are using Android ADB & Fastboot full package, you can place the downloaded Recovery.img file in the Fastboot folder or in the Platform-tools folder.
Open the folder where you placed the Recovery.img file. E.g Minimal ADB & Fastboot or Fastboot or Platform Tools. (in win8.1 its : C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot)
Press and hold the shift key and right click on an empty area within the folder, and click on “Open Command Window Here”.
Turn off your Xperia Z1 completely.
Now press the Volume Up Key and while keeping it pressed plug in the USB cable.
You should see a blue light in the notification light of your phone, that means your device is now connected in Fastboot mode.
Now type the following command: Fastboot Flash boot Recoveryname.img
You may rename the recovery.img file for your ease of access and replace it with Recoveryname in the command to flash it.
Hit Enter and it will quickly flash CWM / TWRP recovery in your Xperia Z1.
How to Root Sony Xperia Z1 C6903 and C6902:
WITH PhilZ Advance CWM without installing SuperSu:
Boot into recovery (when the sony logo appears on boot press volume up volume down until the recovery loads)
Select Reboot System Now
Select Root device
Your phone will restart
Congrats! You’re rooted now.
WITH SuperSu:
Download the latest SuperSu.zip file.
Place the downloaded SuperSu.zip file on your phone’s sd card.
Boot into CWM / TWRP recovery on your phone.
Select Install Zip / Install > Choose Zip from SD / Ext Sd card > SuperSu.zip
Select Yes and let it flash SuperSu.
As soon as flashing is done, reboot your device.
Find SuperSu in App drawer.
Congrats! You’re rooted now.
You could root Z1 by flashing 14.1.G.1.534 and root with rootkitXperia, but it was too late
If you never use music features related to DRM, it's OK though...

Complete Rooting Guide!

I have seen a lot of people using unofficial and third-party methods to root, which can result in a lot of adverse circumstances to say the least.
So I'm presenting a complete noob-friendly guide to rooting.
Prerequisites:
1. A computer ( I'm using Windows 10 but any OS would do)
2. A USB cable
3. Basic computer know-how

Also, I suggest downloading Intel USB drivers for Android from here
Part 2 (Getting Phone Ready)
Unlocking bootloader didn't format my phone but taking a backup is still important.
Now go to Settings<About Phone and click on Build until it says "You have become a developer"
Now back to main settings menu and find "Developer Options". And turn USB debugging on.
Download magisk install.zip, unistall.zip ans apk from here
Now connect your phone to PC via USB cable.
Step 3 (Rooting!!)
Now open platform-tools folder and press Shift+ right click.
Select "open command prompt here".
Now a terminal will open.
Type

adb devices
Now you will get a prompt on your phone. Accept it.
Now type
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Your phone will automatically reboot and fastboot will come up.
Now type

fastboot oem unlock
[Alert! If you get <waiting for device> right click on start menu, select the unrecognized device and install Intel driver in it. Google for detailed instruction]
The process will start and you will get something like

And type prompt. Now type

Now you can just reboot your phone normally.
Now install magisk apk.

Reboot and you have a fully rooted phone!!

Intel driver will not work try downloading drivers from skyneel for our phone

Intel drivers worked for my leeco le 1s. Ideally, Intel drivers should work for all devices.
I'll make a tutorial with screenshots on setting up the drivers whenever I get time.

There was a prompt for TWRP update and Magisk Update.
After it has started showing Orange State instead of Red State.
The phone got rebooted and all installed apps were deleted.
Xposed got uninstalled.
Playstore, Googlemaps got unistalled.
Camera is working.
Calling is working.
Now it shows Orange State.
Is it safe.
Can we bring it to red state?

I too got orange state when I had to reroot my device after it got bricked, but there was no issue, everything worked perfectly.

Here l select the unrecognized device and install the Intel drivers but it stuck at the "Okay,,,,Okay" prompt. Meaning that l didn't get this okay prompts and it keeps me on waiting the whole day.
Secondly, till this command l stop it and power down the phone, so after l power back on and try opening the "Application" folder, then it's not working anymore, it shuts down itself.

Don't power off your phone. Post a screenshot of what exact problem you face with driver installation.

Hi, after completing this step by step guides my Le 1s can't boot to normal anymore, even if I try booting up system from twrp also it doesn't help, I cant even power off now. So, please please help me out again on how to get back to a normal phone. Thanks in advance.

How to take updates after rooting

I just received a system update for build PPR1.180610.091 but I am rooted with a custom kernel.
I think it should be ok to take the system update if I restore my /boot to a stock image but I want to make sure before I take the update.
The rom is stock and has Magisk and ElementalX. Bootloader and Critical are unlocked.
Would it be ok if I restore my boot.img to the stock one and then accept the update via the system updater? or is there something else I need to do?

Just reboot to stock recovery, apply update from adb, in terminal on pc, adb sideload, then drag and drop the ota zip from essential site, hit enter, it will update and u keep data

I just did the sideload but I got an error:

I got the same error, but haven't had any issues.
I have been using this thread as my reference for how to take updates so I wanted to add some instructions and links that I found useful/necessary for completing the process.
Hopefully someone else can find this useful.
IMPORTANT! Remove screen lock pin before continuing!
TWRP will prompt for a password if you do not remove your lockscreen pin/pattern! There is no password!
This is caused due to Android encrypting the /data/ partition.
Settings > Security & Location > Device Security section > Screen Lock. Set it to None.
You can also search in settings for "Screen Lock"

Sideloading using stock recovery(my preferred method):
Ensure USB debugging is enabled on your Essential Phone. To do so, follow step four above.
Plug your Essential Phone into your computer with a USB cable.
Open a command window in the folder where you have ADB and fastboot installed.
In your command window, type adb devices and press enter. Your device’s serial number should appear in the command window.
If you see a notice on your phone asking if you’d like to allow USB debugging on this computer, check the box and select OK.
Reboot your phone into recovery mode. To do so, type adb reboot recovery into your command window. Your phone will reboot into recovery mode. You should see a little green bugdroid with a caution symbol. Despite your gut reaction, this is good.
Open the recovery menu on your Essential Phone. To do so, hold the power button and press the volume-up button once.
Scroll down to Apply update from ADB with your volume-down button, then press the power button to confirm.
Ensure that your phone is still being recognized by your computer. To do so, type adb devices in your command window and press enter. Your device’s serial number should appear in the window.
In your command window, type adb sideload update.zip (or whatever you named your file).

Sideloading using TWRP:
Reboot your Essential Phone into Fastboot mode by restarting the phone and pressing and holding volume down and the power button at the same time. Once you’re in Fastboot mode, flash TWRP with the following ADB command: fastboot flash boot twrp.img
From within the Fastboot menu, select and boot into “recovery mode.” Once TWRP has booted up, type in: adb shell twrp sideload
Then type in: adb sideload magisk.zip
Once Magisk finishes installing completely, reboot back to Fastboot. You can do this via: adb reboot-bootloader
When you’re back in Fastboot mode, grab the modified boot.img (making sure to select the right one) and flash it via fastboot flash boot boot.img
Now reboot! You should now have root via Magisk!
