Samsung Galaxy Note LTE (Korean Version) support T-Mobile USA HSPA+?

Anyone knows it this thing supports TMobile 1700/2100 AWS Band? I am eagerly waiting for this device that will support TMobile USA AWS band/Wind Mobile Canada or Penta Band.

Or at least 3g?

As it was just announced, your going to have to wait a bit for details. As fare as well know its the same Note as ever, just with LTE compatibility on Korea.(which would NOT work on T-Mobile)

This doesn't sound right because their still saying it has a Exynos chipset in it and all the other Korean articles say 1.5 snapdragon so right now we need more solid info on specs and performance

Yeah their saying the only change was the 4g lte. But on samsung.Korea site it says 1.5hz and not 1.4hz

Hey, so there's been a lot of discussion on whether or not the new S.Korean version of the SGN will support the 1700mHz band.
It has been reported that it is CDMA.
If you go to wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellular_frequencies
and go down 3/4 of the page to where it says "Other Regions" you'll see the following:
"CDMA S. Korea 1750–1780 1840–1870"
That would seem to say that it will indeed support T-Mobile...

I don't understand. T-Mobile uses GSM. CDMA is a different technology than GSM. Why would you expect a CDMA phone to be usable on a GSM network?

Hey thanks! Whew, got a bit excited seeing the 1700 band in there, but if their 1700 band is only for CDMA, then you are quite right... no tmobile... but then verizon people could start getting excited...

Sucks that we can't even get the Exynos version of this, at least not for another year until Samsung makes a new phone with a new SoC that sports T-Mobile's bands.

Ditch T-Mobile and get straight talk. T-Mobile sucks anyway.

I just gotta ask.... why do people say T-mobile sucks?
I don't understand as I've only ever had great reception with them and great speeds. Plus my phone bill is smaller than if I went to AT&T, and I get more data and minutes. I have many times over the years been with friends or family who can't get reception on AT&T or Verizon and there I am rockin it on T-Mobile. In fact, some of my friends who use AT&T have started saying "More dropped calls in More places" about their AT&T service.
I mean if someone said AT&T sucks, I'd totally agree. They charge an arm and a let, they limit your data, and give you crap for minutes, and from what I see my friends experience, their coverage sucks in comparison to T-Mobile.
But that's just been my friends and family and my experience.

Oh yeah, and if you're checking out the threads here, you'll see loads of people having issues with AT&T now shutting down their data on their SGN. So... AT&T doesn't really seem like a ride I want to buy a ticket for.

Who said anything about AT&T? I said straight talk. They use AT&T towers but have much better pricing. T-Mobile sucks because their phone selection is lacking and now because of their frequencies, you can't even get the Note.

How does the pricing look like on Straight Talk?
Been out of contract for close to a year now, just rocking an old HD2 that still works. Been so itchy with all these giga-sized screen phones.

Any new information available?

Hey guys I was it a store in Italy today they carry the note for purchase without a contract on this company called TIM.
I checked the specs on the box it has the correct T-Mobile bands.

Rogers google ad states Quad-core Exynos + LTE, and since Rogers and AT&T use the same baseband for HSPA+ and LTE it would work for AT&T customers.

I hope they don't mean "4G (version) & LTE (version)", rather both in the same phone. Very interesting though.
It's easy to find the Rogers ad on Google, just search for "Rogers" and "Samsung Galaxy S iii" etc. keywords in Google and it'll pop up.
The ad might have changed, though, because it's now saying "Samsung Galaxy S III | Rogers.com" not the previous "Samsung Galaxy SIII - 4G LTE & New Exynos Processor".

I'd be okay with two versions..I'm not super partial towards LTE but largely just because it isn't prominent in my area of Canada. I signed up for Bell updates. I wonder though, do these advertisements mean we could see this early June? Or even the end of May?

I came across the below 'system diagram' of the Exynos 4 Quad processor on Samsung's website.
Does the block 'C2C LTE modem' (where C2C, I reckon, stands for chip-to-chip) indicate that Exynos 4 Quad is in fact LTE capable? Wish someone could shed some light on the matter.
Could this, in fact, be what the ad suggests (Quad core CPU + LTE)?

The Exynos 4 Quad was always LTE-capable. The problem that people are speculating was getting it to work in North America.

That's not entirely accurate. You have to read between the lines:
We are also planning a Canada LTE version of Galaxy S III, along with the newly announced global variation, both of which are optimized for the fastest LTE and HSPA+ networks in Canada.

The realist in me interprets that as another Canadian LTE version using a non-Exynos processer, (as Samsung did with the Skyrocket/GS2 LTE), but that the global variation we all know now as the GSIII Quad Exynos will still work on our Canadian networks (HSPA+).
I would hope that the lack of contradiction on Samsung's part so far means that the new Exynos will work on our LTE networks, but I'm a bit anxious that the news won't be good when we find out in June.
Samsung did not specify that the Canadian LTE version would use the Exynos Quad, and if anything suggests that we are getting something without Exynos by specifying ours would be available "along with the newly announced global variation", which is the Exynos.
Also, since the first day that Google ad appeared, I have been unable to trigger it again. The only ads that I see now omit any reference to LTE or Exynos/Quad. Because it ceased almost immediately, I suspect someone was in a rush to prevent the misinformation from continuing.

Let me put it this way: The global (Exynos LTE) version will most likely not be "available here", e.g. available from Rogers or similar LTE carriers. The press release said the global version would work on HSPA+ in Canada, so you could buy it outright somewhere else and use it here. E.g. Overseas. If Exynos LTE doesn't work on our carriers' LTE networks, we won't get that version. If a carrier wants to bring the global version here for non-LTE use, that would be fantastic, but nothing in the quote confirms that.
As I said, that's reading between the lines, because Samsung did not specify that the Exynos/"global version" would be "available here" (ie. from carriers like Rogers.)
Hell, I can pick up any phone from an importer, but that's not the same as Samsung making it available to consumers through official channels.

I'd be ecstatic if this phone came to ATT packing a quad-core. Not getting my hopes up though and I'm expecting the Snapdragon, wonder why they dont put the Exynos Dual-Core processor in it.

This isn't a bad thing, but it is also underwhelming. Every high end phone released in the US markets has the same SoC. Software battles are not very interesting, at least to me. On ATT both of the high end Android phones are very similar in terms of hardware with the HTC One X arguably being better since it is already out and has a better screen. Not sure what samsung was thinking with putting out a phone with the same internals as a rival a couple months later.

From the New Orleans event. Note the use of the word "optimized."

This could play out two ways...
1) Samsung's developed a GSM LTE-capable version of the Exynos chip and it will be used everywhere it can be. In North America that would mean Rogers, AT&T, and Sprint. Since CDMA's so limited, the VZW SGS3 would likely use the S4 chip. T-Mobile would likely get S4 also because S4 supports AWS and when faced with the same choice in the SGS2 they went Qualcomm vs. developing their own AWS radio. If Samsung was going this route, there's no reason they wouldn't have said so at the UnBoxed event.
2) LTE and AWS SGS3's will all be S4. Either because Samsung didn't have time to integrate LTE, couldn't match the S4's fantastic battery life, or that it might actually be cheaper. Samsung builds great SoC's but they have no track record (yet) in radios. There were no repercussions (other than some customer disappointment) when Samsung went this route last time. Also, when they did, they waited until right up to launch to disclose that the U.S. market wasn't getting Exynos (except the non-LTE AT&T version).
I have no idea which way it'll go (and neither do any of you). I wouldn't bet odds in Vegas based on a misplaced banner ad.

If you think AT&T is going to fragment the sales/updates as far as one that is quad-core/hspa/3G and one that is Dual-Core/HSPA/LTE, you are mistaken. Ain't. Gonna. Happen.
There will be one model, one that is usable on the LTE network.

That U.S. introduction of the SGS2 was one of the strangest launches ever. First, it took Samsung and the U.S. carriers six months after the UK launch to bring it to the U.S. Then all but the AT&T version were totally different phones based on the Asian Celox and SGS2's in name only. If you remember the launch event, the T-Mobile version was locked in a Plexiglas box and not allowed to be touched. VZW skipped the SGS2 entirely. On top of that, two weeks after it launched, AT&T announced the SkyRocket which was a Celox variant and closer to the other U.S. carrier versions. Samsung’s in a much more powerful position than they were last go round so hopefully the phones will be less molested and the introduction better synchronized.
When the OG SGS2 launched on AT&T they hadn't even lit up their first LTE city. It would be strange for them to launch another high-end HSPA+ phone with as fast as they are growing (and pushing) their LTE network. But, based on the SGS2 launch, anything's possible.

I think the transition to LTE was difficult for Samsung and satisfying their customers. Then having to design multiple variants on top of that some with the S3 and LTE radio and some without it.
It takes hours and hours of meetings, designing, quality control, etc. I could already predict all the trouble that all parties had to go through, Samsung, Sprint, T-Mobile etc. If it wasn't for our wide population, I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung said "the hell with the US" and just stuck with releasing one type, the international version for everyone else.

I never claimed otherwise.
I think there is sufficient proof out that Verizon will be getting a Qualcomm S4, just like Sprint... just like AT&T..... just like T-Mobile.

Willing to bet, the Korean version won't use a Micro-Sim that GSM carriers use, as they're network SK Telecom if i recall does not require the use of sim cards. Also chances are the Korean version will be locked to region specific carriers there.

Don't go for it. Their will be a lot of issues with it. Also very bad developer support, worse than American version.
There may be other hardware compatibility issues with your network.

Quite a lot of the new smartphones in Korea come with usim cards..
Don't ask me the finer details.

There are 3 major carriers in SK, two of them operate WCDMA networks.

I would not go for this phone. Like somebody else said, bad developer support.

You mean that ugly stock battery percentage that appears next to the battery icon and takes up additional space? If you have noticed, I do not have any app but actually a circles mod that can display battery percentage within the battery icon.

For the dev support I disagree, it seems they will get the same hardware as the int version only more ram and LTE support so int roms shouln'd be hard to port, am I wrong?

Willing to bet, the Korean version won't use a Micro-Sim that GSM carriers use, as they're network SK Telecom if i recall does not require the use of sim cards. Also chances are the Korean version will be locked to region specific carriers there.

Speaking form experience the SIM card issue is no longer a problem, Korean phones now use SIM cards, all carriers here ( SK, KT, LG all use SIM cards)
All Android phones here as of today (SGS3 is still unknown) are sold carrier unlocked, I've used my Korean issue GalaxyS (m110s) in various countries with no issue (India/China/UK)
Problem with the Korean version is that' you'll lose FM functionality and gain a useless DMB (TV) chip instead, also it's dimensions are ever slightly larger, so getting nice cases might be slightly harder, or you'll have to order from Korea, not impossible though.
Phones can be bought off the shelf here, they're just more expensive than in Europe/US

I'm pretty sure the american version dev support will be just as good as the international.

Looks like Tmo News is reporting that the user agent for the Note 2, for T-Mobile, has leaked. They're reporting that the device will be keeping its Exynos processor and will be HSPA+ 42Mbps. I'm guessing this will launch near the end of the year. The model number is SGH-T889.

Im tempted to get the note 2 but i hate that physical button. ..plus i know all the mods from the note 2 will be ported over to the note 1. ..that extra ram and processor is great though

so, does this mean the note 2 will actually work with T-Mobile's 4G network?
I currently have the original note and it only works on 2G. If the Note 2 will work on Tmo's 4G it will be enough for me to upgrade.

It looks like were in for a treat guys. Samsung has gotten their act together and patched up everything in their latest quad-core.
Meaning...
Were gettin Quad-Core (Exynos 4412) with LTE
We had little-to-no-doubt the device would eventually make its way to AT&T (international frequency bands mostly match AT&T’s) but what’s interesting is Samsung’s quad-core Exynos 4412 is seemingly intact. No dual-core Qualcomm to be found. Remember, the last Note (and even the Galaxy S3) had to switch to a Qualcomm chip for compatibility with AT&T’s 4G LTE. Looks like Samsung patched everything up in their latest quad-core.

It looks like Samsung got their act together to were we will see a quad-core phone play nicely along 4G LTE
This is whats is going to get me to wait until AT&T gets its.

Your current Note, and the international Note II, will eventually work on T-Mobile's 3G/HSPA+ network by the end of this year, or early next, in some of the major markets in the States. T-Mobile is reframing their 1900MHz band, to work on 3G/HSPA+. I don't think the international Note II has the AWS bands inside of it, but I'm sure the T-Mobile one will.
In other words, you'll get some coverage with the International Note II in some of the major markets in the US, but you'll get even better coverage with the T-Mobile version, since it'll support both AWS/1700MHz and PCS/1900MHz. The good thing now, unlike the Galaxy S III, is that you'll still have the Exynos quad-core processor, instead of the Qualcomm dual-core processor (based on the rumors). The one thing I'm still wondering is if they'll still keep the LTE antenna in for the T-Mobile version. Would be nice, since they should be launching their LTE network next Spring.

Canadian Version?
I know they announced the quadcore version, but when it comes to Canada, will it be dualcore again? Or is it staying?

Based on the info that the AT&T and T-Mobile models will still have the quad-core processor, I will say yes that the Canadian models should have them as will. This was the case for the S III, so it should still apply here.

The US Variants of the SIII are dual-cores (Snapdragons S4..... correct me if i am wrong). Anyways we should see the Quad-Core CPU bundled with LTE:good::laugh::victory:

I am waiting for the Verizon vatiant and kts specs...

Glad to see Samsung got all their s--- together now. Here's to hoping that they being manufacturer of their own chips (lte), panels, memory will lead them to dominate apple. the near uniformity of gs3 paid off for them, now that this is no different than the international version this should be the trump that sammy needs!
