[Q] S4 GT-I19505 wifi issue. "your Internet connection is unstable" - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have recently upgraded my Samsung S4 to 4.4.2. I have discovered that my WiFi performance has reduced and frequently I am receiving message " your internet connection is unstable". I can observe that down arrow on wifi doesn't blink at that time. While on the same time other devices like Iphone, ipad, Laptop on the same WiFi are working fine. Can anyone help me in this regard.

I think it's because too many devices are connected to the wifi router. I get this message as well when connected to uni's student wifi

Errr, no.
I have MAC filtering on my router (so no unnoticed intruders), and it happened when no more than 2 devices (SGS2 and SGS4) were connected...
Do I need to mention that SGS2 does NOT loose WiFi?

In your advanced settings for wifi un check auto network switch. i was experiencing the same issues and this has resolved it. Auto network switch monitors the quality of your wifi and if there are any issues on the wifi it will switch back to mobile internet. Can be a real pain.

Wifi issues

Hey is anybody having wifi connection issues. I have tried at work and at home. My wifi will connect at a weak connection and withing 2 minutes it will disconnect and give me an error saying "poor connection". Good thing I have unlimited data otherwise I'd be screwed. I'm going to the store to exchange note 3's and see if they fixes the wifi problem.
I have the same exact issue

My auto network switch came defaulted to off but this is still happening to me....
I clicked the auto-network box, but for some reason when I'm at home and using my home's WiFi both the 4G LTE AND WiFi icons show up. In my S3, it used to automatically switch to my known WiFi when I come home and switch automatically to 4G LTE when I walk outside of my WiFi router's range. How do I get it to do the same and display only one source of internet connection?
Well I called vzw technical support. They are sending me to the closest corporate store to exchange for another note 3. I hope this works. ....

WiFi Problem: sleep after minutes

Hello every one, this is my problem with Elephone S7:
When activated, the WiFi, after a few minutes goes on standby and no longer works.
can you help me?
my best regards
Hello,
i can not confirm this problem but have you checked your wifi-settings on your phone. May its defined that your phone wont let WiFi activated in stand-by.
You can check this under "advanced" option in wifi settings.
What means "No longer Works"? Did the phone lost the complete connection - no signal?
Has your phone still an ip-adress? You can also Check this under advanced in wifi settings.
What IP-address lease time is configured on your wifi router?
Best regards

sorry for my english
I bought an Elephone S7 recently and have similar problems. This is more prominent when wifi signal is weak. Very annoying.
In general, I get very poor WIFI performance. I compared with my wife's old HTC M8 and S7's performance is 5 to 10 times slower.
I am trying to return it.

Wifi disconnects and reconnects constantly

Hi,
just had the phone for an hour and almost right away after first setup the wifi radio disconnects/turns off and re-connects/turns on automatically every 20 seconds or so. No matter wich network I try.
Working fine with my S7 Edge laying here beside me, never had problems. I have three different networks around me I can try out.
Anyone had the same problem? I can find som info about this exact issue for the S7 Edge for some, but no solution from that works on the S8..
N
this is an old problem S7 had
you need to toogle in settings > connectivity > wifi > advance > smart network swithc OFF
i think this was - but dont remember well since it was a while ago - but basically you need to turn off the option of phone switching between phone and wifi data
Having the exact same problem with my Ubiquity wifi network (ie, not some janky cable company router) with my just-booted up S8. Smart switch was off by default, and after switching it 'on' and back 'off', no change.
This was the first thread I found on the topic, will update with any solutions.

Well I'm in Sweden and have no operator dependence. Neither for mobile or my home network (fiber connection owned by me).
This sucks though... I want this resolved

Try downloading wifi analysis app and see what it's picking up. Maybe you could try changing your wifi channel if it looks low?

No this has nothing to do with the routers or access points. I am 3 meters from the AP, its at 100% signal rate etcetera..
This has to do with Samsung and the software.

As I wrote I've tried all that I'm afraid. All the things that was recommended for the trouble on the s7.
have u tried going to a free wifi spot (starbucks, mcdonalds) see if the issue persists - maybe is your router refusing connection

As I wrote I have three different wifi to test with but yes makes no difference. This is a well known but not solved problem with Samsung phones.. three different makes of manufacturers, different settings with a/b/g/n and all show the same problems.
I also installed the small new update today for the firmware. Still same problem.
I'm guessing I'm about to get a replacement phone. I'll try that on Monday.
I'm not seeing the same problems with public wifi as I am with my Ubiquity Unify AC AP Pro access points at home - definitely weird.
When it is connected, I'm getting my usual 100mbps speeds, but it continues to drop regularly (not the every 10secs it did when I first powered it on, but every minute or so).
One thing that was mentioned was changing channel bandwidth from '40' to '20'... I don't see anywhere to do that on the S8?

Doesn't that mean on your router?
By changing the broadcast bandwidth from 40 to 20 you will increase the signal produced (same power is covering less channels)

I had this happen on a UniFi UAP-AC-Pro network with my S8 as well. I turned off Nearby Device Scanning on the S8 under Settings-> Connections -> More Connection Settings and that seemed to fix it. Strangely, I did not have the issue on my home network which has a single UAP-AC-LR access point with an otherwise similar configuration. Not sure if this setting change was really a fix, or if I just temporarily got lucky.
If turning off Nearby Device Scanning doesn't work for anyone, it might be worth playing with other settings within your network such as Band Steering. Some of these require turning on advanced features within the UniFi controller. Also I would be curious to hear whether those who have issues are on networks with a single access point, or larger installs with multiple access points.
Very recently got the Samsung S8 and I'm having some wierd WiFi issues. When connecting to the network everything is fine i get almost maximum download/upload speeds(500/500) from my UniFi AP-AC-PRO. But after being connected for awhile 30-60mins the speed drops to around 30mbit downstream and upload around 200mbit. If i disconnect from the Wi-Fi and instantly reconnect i get full speed again. I've tried switching settings in the ap, went from everything on auto settings to static channel/transmit power and been trying vht40/80 but makes no difference. If i have smart network switching on i get disconnected and put on LTE instead. All my other devices have blazing WiFi speeds as usual. I'm gonna try turning of nearby device scanning and see if that helps.
I started a thread in the ubiquiti UniFi forum as well but i cant link that here(not enough posts on this xda account)

I'm having the exact same problem as you. Wifi connects at full speed at first, then after a while speed drops. Has gone down to 1Mbps numerous times. Disconnecting then reconnecting fixes it for a while then it starts all over again. I'm connected to a TP-Link AC1900 running dd-wrt. May try going back to stock firmware on the router to see if that helps.
So has anyone come up with a permanent solution to this? I'm in the same boat with my ac-ap-pro and s8+. Disconnects every 20 seconds or so.

Wi-fi disconnecting? Anyone having the same problems?

I've not yet received my OP5. I'm in China.
A lot of people here is having really severe wifi disconnection problems. No more wifi data but wifi is still connected, have to reconnet wifi to have data.
I cannot post link yet. But there are all kinds of report on the Chinese official OP forum.
I'm just wondering if any of you guys are having the same problems?
I'll test the phone once I receive it.
Yes another issue, it's done it twice on me in the last 1w hrs, the wifi icon completely disappeared as if it switched off, I'm noticing some worrying issues out the box.
That should have said last 12hrs.
For me the problem is different. WiFi continues on, it's like it's properly connected, however I can't access anything on the web. I have to disconnect WiFi, use mobile data, and connect WiFi again. Then it works for 2 minutes, and stops accessing any websites again...
So, the wifi only works for about two minutes. I quit and now I'm only using mobile data...
It happens with all access points and wifis I've tried.
Same problem here. WiFi connection is always on, but after 5 minutes after connecting there is no more data send.

Okay I'm glad I'm not just imagining it. I'm having the exact same problem. I thought it was my home network at first but good to know it's the phone. I wonder how long it's going to take for a fix?
Try turning off smart network switch in wifi settings, I had the issue, but when I turned that off I had no issues.
Thanks. Will try. I hope that solves it.

Hi, I've had major problems within my 5 Ghz Wifi: The transfer rate was suuuper slow (0.15 kb/s and less) and after a while down to nothing.
But with switching to 2.4 Ghz everything works fine. So just go to wifi settings -> advanced and select 2.4 ghz only. That solves my problems for now. Hope a future update solves the 5 ghz issues.
I've had no problems with wifi on my OnePlus 5.

WiFi issue

I am facing an issue that my WiFi doens't scan nearby networks.
In my WiFi. It disconnects automatically and then on reconnecting it shows no internet access.
Many times it's not able to connect to a network just saved comes and then WiFi shows to be disabled

It's WiFi bug comes with pie update, contact service centre nearby & ask them to downgrade to Oreo..... they will do it.
I'm really getting disappointed with Nokia day by day. I expected so much. Now I'm seeing stupid issues, like the primary mic not working, and people having wifi bugs. I mean I spent my hard earned money buying this phone, for it to f**k me over in this fashion. They release updates, but they don't do anything about fixing bugs.

Same with me. Never experienced wifi issues.
I'm also facing the same issue now from last 2 days. Any other fix available for this? Other than factory reset or downgrade. Also the restart option doesn't seem to work for me everytime.
Works with other hotspots

I tried using hotspots from my friends and it seems to be working for some reason. No delay in connecting, doesn't get disconnected automatically, doesn't shows no internet. All working fine. Now the question is why with my router at home? Has anyone here tried resetting their routers? Also, are there any compatibility issues going on, if yes then maybe our phone no longer supports old gen routers.
