[Q] Nook Color OS to Nook Hd OS - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently I have a Nook Color. I am running CM9. What I am looking for is a mod to make it the Nook HD interface. I am not very impressed with the 1.4.3 stock interface, but I was very impressed with the B&N stock interface on the Nook HD. How can I go about getting this on my Nook Color?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can't. Not unless B&N releases the source code (aka "recipe") for that interface.
There is also going to be work needed to port the HD's interface to the Nook Color, a VERY old device. Devs don't have time for this. There are much more important things that are being worked on (ex: USB OTG) to pay attention to the UI.

Thank you.
So is there an app that can mimic the carousel?

Why don't you use the CM10.1.3.2 or the latest CM10.2?
I don't see there is any different interface between the HD or Color, it depends on the different versions of Android.

Nook Ports for Elocity

I have a Barnes & Noble Nook Color, a Viewsonic G Tablet and the best of the best...................MY ELOCITY A7.....
I love my nook color so I am using my Elocity as a part time Ereader amongst other things. I have the Nook App on my Elocity and for the most part it works rather well. Is there anyway to copy the Nook Color experience onto the Elocity. I like the way the Nook Color has the bookshelves and would like to get that ported over to my elocity. Can anyone steer me in the proper direction. I have over 200 E-Books purchased from Barnes & Noble on my Nook Color and I want to get them on my Elocity so I can give the Nook Color to my Wife. Is there anyway to duplicate the Nook Experience on my Elocity A7.
Im curious... How does the screen compare to the g TABLET? I know its smaller but what about quality?

Smaller and lower resolution, but the viewing angles are better. It's also better when viewed horizontally. The lower Res on the smaller screen isn't too bad. I find it get the job done just fine.
I have both and like both. The portability of the eLocity is very nice.
wow
I didnt think my thread would get hi jacked
Can we please stay on topic. If youd fine a search there are several threads comparing the viewsonic g tablegb... the nook and the elocity.
Just get the nook app on your elocity and you will be able to access all your b&n books and also epubs. It's available in the market and can also be sideloaded without a problem. Good luck!
thanks not what i was lookin for

I wanr to be able to oorganize book shelves and library like they r organized on the nook color. I have the nook app on the elocity however the nook app does not have bookshlves or catagories
I got what you're saying...
Is the nook rooted? you could try to titanium backup the application on the nook, transfer the file and then reinstall it onto your a7 with titanium backup.
just thinking out loud, not sure of the actual feasibility.
Didn't work

Tried the suggestion above and it did not work. When I copy the back up files over with Titanium they are alled lined out when I try to restore. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If not guess I'm off to get another Nook Color unless I can find a way to get that Shelves and Library type interface.
Can anyone assist me with this?

[Q] b&n launcher apk?

running cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC0 on my NC.
i like it.
i hate the nook for android app from the marketplace.
when i ran nooter on my 1.2 stock, it left me with two launchers: b&n and zeam.
does that mean there might be a way to run dual launchers on cyanogenmod, with the 1.2 b&n stock launcher?
is this even possible or am i stuck looking at a dual boot scenario?

Reader.apk is the stock b&n reader, and is protected from being used outside of the stock experience, including in other launchers. It cannot be copied to work outside of stock and will not appear outside of the b&n interface even tho you are rooted

just found this quote. it has been my experience that any defensive wall can be scaled given enough time and ingenuity. anyone have additional information on these protective measures?

[Q] Should I get a Kindle Fire?

I'm trying to decide between a kindle fire or a nook tablet. To be honest, the biggest selling point for me is, which will be more like a regular android tablet once rooted and flashed with a new rom eventually. I'm as interested in performance as functionality. I would primarily use it for light gaming, movie watching movies & Netflix, and Playing with apps and live wallpaper lol. Sorry, I'm relatively new to Android but i used to be big in windows mobile and flashing a different Rom every other day. I'm really looking for some personal opinions on this. Thanks a lot guys.
supposedly nook tablet has a locked down boot loader so custom roms and what not
wouldn't be made easily the kindle fire.
The Kindle Fire is easily rootable unlike the nook . You may then make it function more like an android tablet with all the apps you like. Read some of the KF threads and you will see the versatility of the KF.
The Nook Tablet is also easily rootable and can function like a normal android tablet. There is a script on the XDA Nook Tablet section that performs a root and then loads the standard Android Market app. From there you can load a launcher from the market (such as GO Launcher) and you are in business.
I too am wondering about this.
I'm mostly wondering if I'd need the extra storage of the nook, because the ram doesn't concern me very much. Google is getting ICS to work on the Nexus S which has the same GPU as the Fire as well as the same amount of ram. I'm confident that ICS builds for the fire based off of Nexus S AOSP will run just as well as Google makes it run on that device.
Locked boot loaders concern me more than ram. I'm thinking fire right now.

Can I get the original Nook app on CM7?

Quick background... I have an Asus Transformer so I don't need to convert my Nook Color back to CM7 however I would like to do more on my NC than just read books. The problem is that I MUCH prefer the original B&N Nook app that comes on the Nook Color over the one that I get from the market place after I load CM7.
so... does anyone have the .apk for that app or is that something built into the original B&N rom?
TIA
It's been tried. At least by a few and isn't feasible. I'm not a Dev but if it is possible, and what isn't with the genius available around here, then it's just not worth the effort when there are other ways to keep the stock reader and still be rooted with market access and such.

Thanks for the info. Last time I tried to root and install a different launcher I was unimpressed. But that was almost a year ago.
I specifically want the B&N reader, and the ability to get automatic subscription updates. I've been running rooted B&N 1.4.1 for a bit over a month now, and I've found decent work-arounds for most issues. It's not as trouble-free as CM, but I get all the stock B&N functionality.
I think there's a Zen level of simplicity you have to strive for to get the extra functionality you want without overloading the interface. I've added a very few things to the B&N interface, then pop out to ADW EX Launcher when I want to escape the walled garden. Once I'm outside, it's mostly like running CM. The biggest issue is the white-on-white menu display problem some apps have.

[Q] make my NC look like a stock Nexus 7?

My NC hasn't had much use in a long time. It's got an old Phiremod on it, 6 or 7, I don't remember.
Anyway, I have a stock N7 and I was wondering how to make the NC look and feel like the N7.
Would one of the JB ROMS for the NC make it look like the N7 or would I have to find the right
lockscreen, launcher, notifier, navbar, etc.?
Thanks,
tlc

I have not seen the Nexus layout, but I would guess it is similar to CM10. The basic layout should be the same, with maybe a few tweaks by CM10.
