Official ZTE Open Fire Fox OS 1.2 and 1.3 builds thread - Firefox OS General

This thread is all about making it easier for those who cannot build Firefox OS 1.2 and 1.3 to get these updates to their phones.
Please post your build links here with pertinent information about the build. I hope I am right in thinking that builds done on 64 bit linux machines can be flashed by those with 32 bit linux machines. Feel free to add to this thread and I will merge the pertinent information and links to the top of the thread.

Hi donjuankey,
would you like 1.2 1.3 or 1.4 builds?

1.2 and 1.3 are the most needed. 1.4 is probably not worth the trouble at this point for most people but hey if you got it, it is welcome.

The rom has many bugs.

Thanks!
Do I just flash these in the bootloader? or what's the best way to apply them. So far, when I attempted to flash these, I got errors.
Anyone know how to put these into a .zip file that can be flashed via CWM recovery?

Thank you.

Thank you!

If you want to flash custom builds based on 1.1.0 you need to install ZTE's 1.1.0 firmware first
If you want to flash custom builds based on 1.0.1 you need to install ZTE's 1.0.1 firmware first
If you want to provide custom builds you need to specify which version did you used to build B2G

I want to flash FF OS 1.3. I have currently installed FF OS 1.2 B2G Prerelease. I tried flashing the ROM provided on this link but it stucks on Fox Logo and keeps restarting
How can i flash THIS ROM?

no 3g connection lost after a while
Hello, thanks for your work first of all.
I have flashed 1.3 signed .zip via CWM. Everything works great, internet connection via wireless/3G.... etc (i'm writing from SPAIN, if it matters).
But after a while, the 3g connection does not works, only wireless. The H symbol is on in notifications bar and seams it is trying to connect but is not possible. The only way to turn 3G connection back working again is to put plane mode on for a while and try again. Or rebooting the phone.
Some similar experience? I' flashed it twice with complete wipe of my zte open.
Update: Surprisingly it's working 3g connection. To get it working fine:
If you are use wireless connection, to use 3g you have: (1) stop wireless connection, (2) enable plane mode, (3) disable plane mode, (4) enable 3g connection. In this way, there is not loose of connection.
But there is another problem. I'm using this smartphone as daily use and the alarm to get up at the morning. Two consecutive days I'm arriving late to my job ;-p . When I get up at the morning I see there is not any signal, no internet, no signal to call. And the alarm do not work at time. When I reboot the smartphone, the alarm sounds (2hr later). The alarm works fine later, but while i was sleeping, no signal, no connection...and no alarm. I will continue telling more things here

How?!

Yes, I used CWM
I can't insert urls for the tutorials, sorry , I'm new user and I have not that permission ;-p
So, I can tell you my problem was as very commented in internet:
"The bootloader on the ZTE Open does not allow to flash or boot unsigned code through fastboot protocol. The stock recovery image will verify the signature of update packages and not allow you to flash self-signed updates"
So write this in google, or this:
"ZTE Open FirefoxOS Phone, root and first impressions"
and you will find how to solve it (if it was your problem too). After that, you shoud install any ROM.

First of all, I have to say that I'm only a simple user, I'm only reading around Internet and playing with the zte-open, so be careful ;-p
If you are root, great. I had problems to do that but I could ;-p
To install any custom rom (I installed v1.3), I installed CWM but you say you have it yet, so I don't know.
In my case I found the answer in gnulinux.vagos.es :
"Compilando/instalando la última versión de Firefox OS para el ZTE Open"
And precisely, the sub-section I followed was this:
"Desbloquear el ZTE para instalar "custom rooms" "

[HOW-TO] Install 2.1 + Fastboot + Recovery + Custom ROMs on GT540! (n00b friendly!)

A WARNING: IN THE EVENT OF A BRICKED DEVICE, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE! YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. KDZ UPDATER WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE IF NOT USED PROPERLY. SO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!!!
So, you want to install custom recovery and custom ROMs? Well, you're in the right place. Follow this guide to it's exact instructions, and you will be fine.
You will need:
A computer running Windows (Sorry Mac & Linux users!)
Your phones USB cable. (If you don't have one, you can see a list of them here on Amazon)
We will need a couple of downloads first, so download these files:
V20C Orange France Fastboot ROM (It doesn't matter that it's Orange France, we are replacing the software anyway, I recommend this one as it fixes some calling issues by flashing a new baseband (or Radio).
KDZ Updater
Also, make sure you have your drivers installed. If you don't, get the .zip from here and install all 3 .exe files that are in the zip.
Now to install the Fastboot ROM!
First of all, extract KDZ Updater to the desktop. Then run the msxml.msi file to install the MSXML Parser that is needed to run KDZ. A window should then pop up that looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
^^Select install now.
But if this comes up:
It is already installed, and you can close the window.
Once that is sorted, open up KDZ_FW_UPD.exe (Windows Vista/7 users, make sure to right click and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR!)
Change the type of flash by selecting the 'Type' dropdown box and select 3GQCT (SUPER IMPORTANT!)
And make sure PhoneMode is set to DIAG.
Click the
icon and select the KDZ file you downloaded earlier.
Prepare the phone by enabling USB Debugging by going to Settings>Applications>Development>Enable USB Debugging, also go into Settings>SDCard & Phone Storage and make sure 'Mass storage only' is unticked. Then connect the phone to the computer via USB cable and let Windows install any drivers it needs.
Click 'Launch software update' and do not use your computer until the update is complete. The update will take roughly 10-20 mins to complete. Your phone should reboot automatically.
Installing recovery:
You have multiple choices to choose from.
ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.1.8 (Recommended)
ClockworkMod Recovery 4.x (Recommended but you may run into incompatible .zip files, download the recovery_clockwork_x.x.x.x_swift.zip file)
Amon RA 2.2.1 (Recommended)
Amon RA 1.7.0.1 (Not recommended due to incompatibility with zip files and recovery backups. Also .zips must be signed)
Download the recovery image of your choice (I strongly recommend Clockwork 2.5.1.8)
Next put your phone in Fastboot mode by rebooting then holding Camera+Power, make sure USB Cable is plugged in. Also let Windows search Windows Update for drivers.
Download fastboot.exe from here: http://adf.ly/2M8Hi and extract it to the desktop. Also put the recovery image you downloaded onto the desktop too.
Be sure to have your fastboot drivers installed, if you use Vista/Windows 7 then the driver should be auto-downloaded from Windows Update, if you use XP or the drivers won't install from Windows Update, then look at this.
Open a command prompt and type the following:
Code:
cd Desktop
fastboot devices (if you see ? fastboot then your device is recognized)
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot reboot
When fastboot says rebooting, hold down HOME and wait. You should see clockwork pop up. Recovery is now on your phone. You can delete the fastboot, kdz and recovery file from your pc because we won't be needing them again. Unless you need to use fastboot.exe again, but just download the fastboot.zip again if you need it) The other files, we don't need.
(NOTE: If your phone reboots with no boot logos (LG logo and animation), or when you flash recovery and it doesn't come up, follow the steps found here. Thanks to fishears for the post!)
Now, installing custom ROMs. Pick any ROM you'd like from the ROM Development section, if you can, get the recovery version, it is much easier to install. Determine if it is a recovery backup, or update.zip
Recovery backups usually contain some .img files and a nandroid.md5 file. The folder containing these files will need to go in the sdcard\clockworkmod\backup folder. Flash them by going to Backup/Restore>Restore>Then pick the backup folder.
Recovery update.zips contain three (or four) files/folders:
boot.img (file)
install-busybox.sh (file, only appears in SOME ROMs)
system (folder)
META-INF (folder)
DO NOT EXTRACT THESE, just put the .zip file on your sdcard, then go into recovery and go to install .zip from sdcard>choose .zip>pick the .zip you downloaded. (NOTE FOR SWIFTDROID: You MUST put the update-cm-xxxxx.zip file found in the SwiftDroid_x.x.x.x_Recovery.zip on your sdcard for it to install!!!)
If you need any help, PM me or reply to this thread.
Don't forget to say
if I helped!
Enjoy!
Want to go 'advanced'? Check out this guide resizing your partitions so you can have more app space!
(Also, if a mod could sticky this thread I would be very thankful. Cheers!)

lol, I was going to post it for a while because most of it was a reply to another post, but only just got round to doing it and it only took about 1 hour to re-write, but hopefully it will save some time by not having to explain it again and again to first time flashers (when they appear lol) Also might do a boot logo and recovery repair one too so users can sort that out too as there isn't a clear guide with pics on XDA. Also, i'm going to contact Decad3nce and see if we can get this stuck.

I have a few theoretical questions about this. Firstly, what calling issues does this fix? My current configuration is based off a v20d Baltic fastboot kdz, and has no problems. What difference would it make if I were to flash this v20c Orange, and restored a backup of my current software, if any(difference)? Lastly, is there any way to chech what baseband/radio a kdz flashes, if possible, without flashing it? I would be glad if I learned something new today, thanks.

It is meant to include a fix for calling while connected to 3G. Me and many other users encountered a problem where we could not recieve calls on 3G. I flashed this and my problem was gone. Also, i'm unsure how to check the baseband firmware, in 2.2 ROMs, this is visible, but I looked in the build.prop, and it was a set text (under ro.ril.baseband I think) but yes, you could flash this KDZ, restore backup and all would be well. But if you needed the modified partitions, just use the tutorial that is in my signature, then flash backup.
Good idea

EDIT:Nvm, fixed it.

[WIFI Only] [How-to] GT-P1010 Gingerbread Update

I know a lot of people are going to have problems updating to the latest gingerbread build.
PLEASE NOTE: This update will remove root but you can root again with CF-Root from second post.
ALSO, THIS PROCESS WILL WIPE DEVICE!
1) Put your P1010 into download mode (by holding POWER and VOL-DOWN):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2)I went ahead and used ODIN tool to downgrade/upgrade to the latest FROYO firmware before Gingerbread:
P1010XWKC1_OXX
(OEM Flash Guide here)
You should have the same tick marks and files loaded as in my screenshot. Be sure that the box is yellow on the right and you can initiate the firmware install by clicking 'Start'.
3) (VARIES) From there, after restart some people will experience a force close followed by a reboot loop. You will need to flash this kernel via ODIN:
P1010ZHKF1-kernel
(Flash this the same way as above but UNCHECK Re-Partition and CSC!)
4) You will then be able to boot into Froyo.
5) You will use ODIN again to install the Gingerbread update and flash just the PDA (leave CSC blank and leave Re-partition unchecked this time).
P1010XEUKPG
(Flash this the same way you flashed the Kernel in step #2)
6) After it reboots, you will have 2.3.6
7) (Optional) steps in post #2 to install CWM Recovery and Root.
I recommend installing CWM Recovery and CFRoot in the thread below:
ClockWorkMod Recovery for P1010
After you install CWM Recovery, you can do a nandroid backup and never worry about brick again! (=
Also, you can use ES Explorer to mount root and get rid of the Samsung bloatware (AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!)
For those wanting to remove the bloatware (AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!):
You can remove the bloatware with ES Explorer, there's an option to enable 'Root Explorer'. Download the latest version from the Market.
See below:
screenshots are from my Galaxy Nexus but it's the same for any Android 2.2+.
1) Go to the 'Settings' screen
2) Change home directory to '/'
3) Tick the 2 marks on the bottom
4) Browse to /system/app
5) Delete whichever app you don't want, but do it with caution (I usually move these files to /sdcard and move back if it causes any type of force close)
If you totally borked out the system in such a way that you can't boot, you can always move it back in recovery via ADB (much more complicated process but it's possible).
Also, why not do a nandroid backup before messing with deep system files?
Nice! Great topic.
Updated op! =)
this is the best christmas present so far.

If you followed those steps, the ROM runs stable without any FC's or reboots. I even have setCPU installed on mine.
Also, it's good to note that I'm running CF-Root kernel from the thread in 2nd post.
Plus, you could always downgrade if you run into issues. Just remember to always BACKUP YOUR DATA!

sorry for the newbie question, but what's the password for the 2.3.3 file from sammobile?
edit: already found it, my bad
Interestingly, I've followed the guide exactly as mentioned above (had KC1 and the HK kernel from previous flashing) and flashed the PDA for XEU 2.3 from Sammobile, and I'm now stuck in an eternal bootloop. I like the new samsung boot music though, better than the previous one
Any suggestions?
Edit: I wiped data and cache from recovery, flashed KC1 and the Kernel and it boots fine. Checked Kies to be sure and it's offering me FW upgrade to KM2. Should I accept this FW upgrade or just persevere with flashing the new 2.3 firmware?

If you have an OTA update.zip please PM it to me or contact me on google talk ([email protected]) and I will quick add it to this thread, with safe hosting, credits to The Firmware Team's Pzyduck for providing safe-haven for these types of files.
Instructions for pulling an OTA update.zip:
Do NOT install the update! Do these first!
Be rooted. We got plenty of methods. Motofail2go for ICS, and my RAZRiRoot.zip for turl1's Clockworkmod.
Download the Root Explorer app, or the ES File Manager app. (Instructions are for Root Explorer.)
Open Root Explorer and go to the ~/cache/ directory, which resides on the root directory of the phone '~/'
Hit the 'Mount R/W' in the corner, if successful will then say 'Mount R/O'
Copy the update file .zip from the ~/cache/ to your sdcard, external to be safe. External is in ~/mnt/external1/ and Internal is ~/sdcard/.
Copy over the update file .zip from the sdcard(s) you chose to your computer and upload it.
You will want to use Voodoo's OTA Rootkeeper before updating if you have a locked bootloader, you can find my thread on a RAZR i compatible version here.
Send me or post a link here to the update and exactly what System Version you were on, and where the update takes you to.
The community will thank you for your help!
Enjoy. Remember to do your part to the community and contribute all updates!
Hmm, but I can't put the EU update.zip on it when I'm on GB without losing data, right?

You cannot install any of these on different carriers without use of fastboots and unlocked bootloader.
These updates will ONLY work from PointA-PointB.
Here's another Update Zip for 40002EU. For this one you have to come from 32002 EU. The one in the OP is from 31006.

mattlgroff, im in 81.5.31006.Retail.en.EU - 4.0.4. and in software update i get notification of an ota. i down loaded that file when ask if i want to install it i select yes. but when in recovery it always fails. why, isnt that the official? because after that i tried flashing it in recovery but it fails too.
before alll this i was already on 81.5.40002.Retail.en.EU - 4.0.4. coming from 81.5.31006.Retail.en.EU. but i wanted to downgrade back to 81.5.31006.Retail.en.EU. and my phone died. thanks to hsd pilot my phone came back to life he sended me a file http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1528201&d=1354399653. but now im stuck in what i told you at the begining. why?? what can i do to go back to 81.5.40002.Retail.en.EU. i know this is not the thread sorry but i was watching your new otas. and i cant install the one for my version.
Are you rooted? If yes and you used the Root with insecured Kernel, then you probably have the wrong Boot.img on your Phone. Grap the Boot_signed out of the 31006 Fastboot File and flash it through fastboot
fastboot flash boot boot_signed

If I want to update, it can be done on a homemade fastboot or I need to use a stock firmware, my bootloader is unlocked, can I flash a totally stock firmware without problem and then use the OTA update? Thanks.

Yes you can.
I have version 871.110.12008.XT890.Brasil.en.BR installed from sbf.droid-developers
My Razr i bootloader is unlooked and rooted. When i try to install the update with the android button (in about system) i recive error message after reboot. How can i install this update manually with fastboot console?
Thanks!
First, use an Root Explorer and copy your downloaded Update Zip out of the Cache Folder and leak it
Edit : Ok, it's in the OP already. Sorry, it's 1am in Germany :sly:
Your RazR i is rooted, how did you root it? If you used the Unlocked Root (insecure Kernel), than grap the boot signed out of the sbf you flashed and use fastboot to install it
fastboot flash boot boot_signed.
After that it should work. If not, you maybe deleted some System Apps. If that's the case, flash the system_signed.

Hi all, if I have link2sd linked applications. if I do what he says here respectively, applications may be lost or will stay intact?
I have this doubt, I would not lose my apps linked by link2sd when updating

Hello matt,
Could you pull the latest homescreen & circle widget combo from the latest ota of XT890. I noticed that the occasional lag on on the launcher has been fixed with new version. I want to install it on my droid razr to get a fresh taste.

After getting a DMCA Takedown Request from posting those before from the MB886 I'm afraid I can't help you there.
The 81.5.31002-81.5.39001.Retail.en.GB OTA update did something to my RAZR i's GSM radio, and now it can't recognize any SIM that I put in it ('No service'). :\ It used to work perfectly on 81.5.31002 prior to the update. Can anyone help me out?
I have tried reflashing the original 81.5.31002 stock firmware, the 81.5.39001 firmware as well as the latest EU firmwares using RSD Lite, didn't help at all. The GSM radio still seems to be out. I have also tried setting the network type to GSM in the *#*#4636#*#*-triggered menu and rebooting the phone, but even that doesn't help.

Aospa rom 6.0.1

it's finally released for our z3c!!!
http://get.aospa.co/official/aries
I believe need to unlock bootloader first before flashing so take note.
AWESOME!!! Thanks for the information!
Same process then? flash boot.img and zip from TWRP?
Edit: Everytime I do that, my phone doesn't boot. Be it with CM or other ROMs, and I have to flash a stock tft. I'm currently on Concept, since I've never managed to get CM working.
Edit2: tried to install but had to modify the install-script. My device was being recognized as "z3c".
Edit3: error flashing, same thing as CM. Flashing stock MM to see if it has something to do with using Concept before.
Edit4: can't enter recovery after flashing stock MM. Going back to Concept and not sure what to do next
Edit5: that's the error I get in TWRP

I get the same error 7 when trying to install PA. Ive tried modefying the install-script as you did but then i get error 6.
I flashed stock D5803_23.5.A.0.575_R11D_Nordic Generic_1288-5411.ftf and then flashed recovery to TWRP via fastboot but i still get the same error 7 when trying PA after that.
My next attempt is to install that NUT dual recovery and try flash PA after that.
Camera and modem not working
Got it installed (finally...). You need a working TWRP recovery.
What's working:
- WiFi
- Paranoid OTA seems to work; no further build available to try (doubt that it will work without recovery though; see below)
Not working:
- RIL (so no phone or SMS)
- camera
BT and GPS not tested yet.
To be able to flash you need to
- modify updater-script located in META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script (which is actually a text file) of the ROM zip
- open it in a text editor
- replace "aries" with "z3c", save it somewhere (delete .txt if it's saved with this extension; filename must be "updater-script")
- open the zip with 7zip (recommended; dunno if it works with other archivers)
- replace the updater-script with your version in the zip
- place the zip onto your device
- enter recovery
- Factory Reset (no need for a full wipe)
- flash it
- flash MM Gapps directly afterwards (OpenGapps not recommended - use Slim Zero Gapps instead)
- if you want root, flash SuperSU BEFORE rebooting (see below)
Recovery will be lost and can't be installed with TWRP Manager or Rashr after flashing (Didn't work for me - please report if you got it working and if so - how. Maybe with fastboot, didn't try that yet)
Happy flashing...
I'm sure issues will be fixed quite fast in later builds as everything works already in latest Carbon ROM (find it on testing.myself5.de). Maybe @Myself5 can help with that...(?).

From PA's official Google+ post:
We are also announcing that with the help of Sony and their Open Devices Project we will be able to support all 22 Xperia devices on the SonyXperiaDev GitHub Instance. This initial Sony release is for the Shinano family, but the Rhine, Yukon and Kitakami platforms are expected to follow shortly. This is really exciting news for us and it allows us to give you the Android experience we all love on a much wider range of devices.

Either way thank you for your effort.

Deleted some apps and changed structure on screen. Updated most apps to actual version.
- Fingerprint sensor does not work (back to previous screen)
- Developer options does not work (I cannot enter to enable USB debugging or allow unknown applications)
- Advanced settings does not work either (I cannot allow connection to Hisuite for restore / backup)
- PIN for unlock screen not work, forced close settings. A security bug or error?
- Bluetooth not work
- Impossible to uninstall anything, crash and soft reboot
Solved (parcially)
An error during installation not installing /cust and other things.
Only bluetooth, NFC and notepad, calculator and other apps installation errors persists.
@NandoHerrera tell me what you did before flashing. Maybe i can Change the script in Next build.
Hi, i wan't to go back to stock rom. But if i try to install via sdcard, i get the error, that the firmware is up to date and it don't want to install. I think the problem is the build-number. How can i fix this problem?

Thanks again. I was playing around with eRecovery before this and but I never got it to work. It will connect to the house wifi but never did managed to download or restore. Using mobile data is the same. Nothing gets done.
Btw, with P9 Plus VIE-L29, when we use update.app, do we put the dload folder on the external sd card or on the phone's internal memory???
Currently everything works great. Definitely increased in sound volume. With the original rom, i always have the volume at 80-90%. With your rom, I have to set it to 40-50% or else it is too loud for my environment. Loving it so far...

eRecovery is working on European brands only with changing DNS in Router and register the exact Firmware.
dload isn't working with FullOTA-MF, as @dkionline mentioned.
For going back to Stock Firmware (for some reason in the future) you can use for VIE this method:
