[Q] What's your Screen/Brightness Setting? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

just wondering what you guys recommend for
(1) Screen Mode
Adaptive Mode (I turned this off... doesn't seem to make a diff?)
Dynamic
Standard (currently set on this)
Professional Photo
Movie
wanted to try Pro Photo and Movie.. but both make the screen yellow.. and reds washed out
(2) Auto Adjust Screen Tone
just wondering if you guys keep this on or off?
(3) Auto Brightness?
do you guys use this or manual adjustments?
(4) Power Savings - Use low power level for screen

1. Dynamic : because i love bright & vivid colors
2. Turned off : to preserve the bright & vividness of colors
3. Turned off : whenever i need i just slide the brighness slider.
4. Turned on : for most activity. Turned off while gaming

Standard, off, off, off. Brightness slider is set to about 10%.

No, I refer to pro photo mode in screen mode. Please note that I have extensively used Andreilux Perseus kernel and I love the color correction as explained in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38497753&postcount=3
What I know from what I read from different posts and my own experience, the natural screen mode in Cyanogen mod and pro photo in new Samsung devices is very close to Perseus kernel improvements for correct color reproduction. I love "washed" colors
One more thing, the "reading mode" is very good too, since when you add up to 20 applications in this mode in the settings, it automatically reduces contrast when you run one of these apps. I use it especially for Dolphin browser to read papers etc. It turns back to normal when you close the app.
Last but not least; general brightness level of Note 3, especially under direct sun light, is much better than Note 2, but especially under low light I have to manually reduce the brightness not to disturb my eyes.
Regards.

I'm using the pro photo setting. For brightness settings I'm using the app Lux to fine tune autobrightness which has separate day and night profiles. The app can darken your screen below the 0% setting by applying a filter on the screen. Very useful for totally dark situations.

I've been trying out Reading Mode... but it is making the screen really dim though.
Do you have power-savings mode ON?

No, I only use the power saving mod when I have around 15% battery left and I do not experience any dimnes in normal use.

been using the Professional Photo mode. I must say I'm liking the colors much better
anyone tried out LUX?

hmm.. seems like Professional Photo mode.. causes a level of yellowing?

Adaptive at 50% Auto Brightness.
Unbelievable colours at an unbelievable power consumption rate, much better than my N2.

Browser brightness ???

Anyone know to change browser brightness ??? I already set maximum brightness on setting but the White background is so dim... I got headache and dizzy after a few minutes of using which i don know why ( never got this when using my iphone 4s with maximum brightness )
You can't change the browser (Chrome) brightness independently of the system brightness. Not sure about 3rd party browsers as I don't use them. If you turn off auto brightness in settings and set it to full, that is the brightest it will get.
I've just set my brightness to high and the white is VERY bright, maybe you have a faulty display?

You can manually link the brightness level depending on light level

No my screen is not Yellow, the colours aren't as vibrant as my Galaxy S3, but I'm getting used to it, I use CM10.1 and CM kernel.

If you use a custom kernel you can customize the colors to your liking. Use Trickster Mod to change colors as an free alternative.

[Q] Ultra brightness screen sunlight mode and write on the rear of photos

I've noticed that in the sun some times and more with the camera, the screen will boost its brightness to a level we cannot select. it seems to even change the gamma of the screen where the screens look almost pink. But the result is a really bright and view-able screen in direct sunlight. Anyone know of an add to enable this via an app or some setting?
Also I remember with my Note 3 I could write on the back of the photos, is it not possible anymore?
I'm intrested to this.....but we have to find anyone who knows how to do that...
gekkehenkie11 developed an app for CyanogenMod called MDNIE Tuner which does that. Check the first post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/orig-development/official-cm12-910f-910g-t3046965
Not sure if it works with TouchWiz...

[Q] Adjusting Screen Color Temperature

Is there a way to adjust the color temperature of the screen to a more natural white? I have tried the few screen modes in the settings but the Cinema one is still not very natural to me.
Is there an xposed framework mod or Rom that can do this?
Thanks.
I'm looking for it too. Tried some screen adjusters apps but the result wasn't really good as they just apply a filter layer above. I was used to my Note 2 color temperature wich is pretty higher than the 6500k reference resulting in a colder white. The Note 4 display in fact is more acurate, but I found it too warm for me. Whites seem a little pink to my taste. Wish I could raise the value, but I guess we must wait for a custom kernel with this capability.
One quick tip that might help.
Go into accessibility visual settings. Do the thing with the color adjustment and intentionally get them wrong. then move the slider almost all the way to the left.
You will no longer get to modify the adapt dispaly photo mode settings... but it will give a color temp somewhere in between.
you can alwyas set a triple click to shortcut to accessibility to disable it.
Oh thanks! Still not perfect but quite better this way. And without need of dirty kernel tricks.
I think the note 4 screen is too warm.
Is there any solution to make it cooler?

Just compare it to screen of Note 3, and you will not want it anymore :cyclops: It is much more warmer!

ASUS can do so much with their Splendid display tuning app!

The Blue Light Filter mode can replace 3rd party apps like cf.lumen, Twilight and Lux's night mode. It's a stock method of customizing the display color temperature.
ASUS should copy a leaf from cf.lumen's book and add the capability to automatically calculate sunset by your GPS coordinates and turn BLF mode on at night! Later at night they can add option to automatically change color temperature to more red tones (i.e. setting the BLF mode slider all the way to the right) like cf.lumen's sleep mode!
Thanks to Splendid display tuning, I no longer have cf.lumen installed. But! I do miss the convenience of automating things. Having the display tuner widget in quick settings is nice but no cigar!
Similarly when bright sunlight detected, the Splendid app could have option to turn vivid mode on.
Cyanogenmod12 and by extension CyanogenOS12 already has both these options (night mode and CABC for bright sunlight mode similar to vivid) available in their display options settings.
Perhaps these suggestions should be forwarded to Asus...as they seem to be set on providing timely updates to the phone(awesome), they might listen. I do like the Splendid app.
I agree. And now that we have this option: @Asus_USA
Maybe a rep here would forward the suggestion?

Timed profiles for Splendid would be great. A more effective colour temperature adjustment, coupled with a considerably lower minimum screen brightness on a hardware level would make this phone SO much more usable for late-night reading.

Z5P have an amaizing camera in low light- you just need to know how to use it...

So... When I took pictures in the dark with the superior auto mode, the faces on the photos were yellow and the photos came out very dark, was really disappointed there. I tried the manual mode- there I could control the brightness so when the brightness is a little bit up (+1) the photos were much better. Also you can control the focus mode which improves the photos a little bit more (I like the multi autofocus). I played with the camera more and tried to change the color and brightness in the superior auto mode and the photos in my eyes came out perfect!!! I really liked the results.
Just click on the image, try this and tell me what you think:
Nice settings

Good to know! Thanks!
Thanks!
I would also like to add that adjusting the lighting setting in manual mode with the exposure setting will give you far better pictures than in Superior Auto in low light condition.
that works for me ,thx
where do you find the exposure setting?
Is there panorama mode for camera?
hi guys, can you post some sample with and without these settings? actually i haven't phone...
