Should I buy a nexus 4 now or wait?

Like the title says I really am interested in purchasing a nexus 4. My main reason is that I want to start developing but also for the updates. Is it to late in the life cycle to consider getting one? Should I wait till the IO if I decide to get one? Just looking for a little advice thanks.
Well the advantages include the fact that it's easy to get hold of now, and there are plenty of ROMs etc to choose from.

As suggested to others..
Wait till I/o there can be..
-Upgrade to Nexus 4...
-New Device..
In either case the current Nexus 4 price should decrease or you have option to buy new hardware
Ok thanks for the advice

I'd just the N4 now honestly, I doubt anything that comes out at I/O will be a game changer.
If it makes you feel better, just wait until after.
Another question I have is that I heard there is a bug when you have bluetooth and wifi on your wifi signal drops. Is this still a problem?

What does this mean for our Nexus Devices...I remember a thread by someone saying Samsung S4 Nexus edition even though released wont affect the way Nexus devices are developed in future. Many people had argued on the thread that Nexus wont die and there would still be huge demand for it. But now what I ask is...Why is google launching Nexus Edition of other devices? Has it lost its faith in the existing line up?? Even LG has backed out of making N5 (Good for us but then who is making it?) ?? Could someone be helpful enough to explain why google is doing this?

Lost money.they had a company tell them they can keep up to the demand and when it came down to it they couldn't. Remember the phone sold out in hours ... This way hardcore HTC fans like myself will actually buy a HTC cause I always hated HTC sense but loved the build of there phones .and believe it or not there is a lot of amoled Samsung fans out there to who have been running cyanogenmod since day 1 on all there devices .
Makes sense really

What i meant was y has suddenly LG withdrawn from making N5 when rumors said that it was! I mean there is kind of no future of our precious Nexus line up if third parties are allowed to relaunch some of their phones as a nexus! i wouldn't say i would be a proud owner of a nexus device then! It wont be unique anymore...a symbol of devpt

Why Didn't You Upgrade To The New Nexus 7?

Hi guys...... I just want to know your reasons why didn't you upgrade to the new nexus 7.
For me, i dont think i need to upgrade because mine still working better using PA w/ faux kernel in it. I had issues before with screen flickerin, auto turn off when battery reaches down to 32%, slow charging...but it's all fixed now. Found a lot of ways solve the problem. Lagfix works better for me so i dont have any problems with lag.
Im also happy using OTG for sharing photos from my sony nex-5n camera. So i think i dont need a camera on a tablet.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
4.3 fixed the trim issue so nobody should have lag issues. I, like you, don't feel the need to upgrade. Mine does everything I need/want it to do. Sure I like nice new shiny toys but just can't justify $250ish, give or take a little depending on size, for something that performs all the same functions as last year's model.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I will upgrade at some point, but I'm not in a rush. Two reasons for that:
1) This isn't an essential device for me. Just a casual "toy" that's great to have. I still live and die by my desktop and I'll probably never fully fit into the mobile world (Still refuse to own a phone).
2) For reasons I can't explain...maybe the upgrade to 4.3 or the fact I added another router in my house that gets a strong signal to my N7, or both, this device is working smoother and faster than it EVER has. Browsing the net, in particular, is comparable to my desktop experience now. Bottom line: everything is fast and lag free.
So, yeah, I'd like to have the new one, but with my 1st gen working so well I can't justify the cost as it's not an essential piece of tech for me...
Well... I don't think it's available here in the UK until August 28. Or at least according to Wikipedia it isn't.
And even then I don't think I'll buy it... already spent more money on tech and software this year than I should have.
I'll probably wait, until the run up to Christmas, when local stores will be vying for competition... and as a result there'll be some cost cutting. Not by much I grant, but £10 or £20 shaved off the RRP sounds good to me.
Also, I'm never a huge fan of immediately buying tech just when it's been released - it usually comes with a cornucopia of bugs, hardware defects and other unpleasant idiosyncrasies. Give it five or six months, and those wrinkles will likely have been ironed out.
And in any case, 4.3 is running sweetly on my current Nexus 7... so much so, in fact, that I doubt I'll ever bother with Custom ROMs/Kernels.
I'm a man of simple tastes... Root, Nova Launcher and AOSP browser is all I really need. (+ some core apps).
Rgrds,
Ged.
I'm not upgrading because this one is still working and I have to save money to buy furniture and baby clothes.
Not upgrading because my Nexus 7 still works like a charm, being able to do anything I could wish and because I simply don't have the money/don't want to spend it on it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Now I've got a fast rom and kernel and am running 4.3, I can't see the need.
I'd like the better screen, but I'll wait until all the issues are resolved before I look again.
Alan
Multirom is not yet available on N7 2013. I couldnt go to a tablet without a multiboot solution anymore. The ability to run 4.2.2 roms, 4.3 roms and Ubuntu desktop for n7 all at the same time has allowed me to be desktop and laptop free.

Cause this one still works and still gets updates.

I'm waiting just in case they do the same thing they did last year and drop the lower end model and introduce a higher capacity one at the same price point. I was furious after buying a 16gb model in 2012 for $250 only to have them release a 32gb model for the same price a few months later! I'll gladly wait for a possible 64gb at $269 or even $299. If it hasn't happened by the time the Nexus 5 (or whatever they're gonna call it) drops this fall then I'll feel safer buying it (after I get my hands on the next Nexus phone of course...!). The good thing is, I already have a handful of people that want to buy my old one from me just cause they know it's already pimped and will include tech support (from me lol)
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
I've got 4.3, one of the main reasons I would upgrade. And my needs are very simple. Mostly forum reading aps, like this one. News, Wikipedia, the occasional web search, and YouTube.
The first gen handles that with ease. My 5" Phablet handles everything else.
So i will wait and see what is new in the future at this size.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Our Nexus 7 has the newest Android version and has still a very fast cpu and gpu. I don't see any reason for spending 250€ again for a new device.
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda app-developers app
As I live in the UK I can't even see the new model to appreciate just what differences there could be over an above that what I already have got with my 16GB Nexus 7.
But mine seems to be more than adequate to meet my needs.
I do, on occasion, get to use my wife's Xoom and with that being a 10" tablet I do like the screen size difference and I now seem to be more interested in the up and coming replacement for the Nexus 10 rather than this model. However price will be a big influence there.
Having already got a tablet I do not think of the value that they offer as a stand alone device, if that makes sense, but more of what they offer over and above what I have got.
I suppose that goes part way to explain why I'm not too much interested in the 2013 version of the Nexus 7.
I haven't upgraded yet because I remember how it went with the original Nexus 7: I bought one shortly after it came out, then a model with double the storage hit the market for the exact same price and the one I had dropped down.
I'll be waiting for the 32gb model to hit in November for the exact or near same price as the current 16gb model.
Why waste money on something I don't need?

I haven't upgraded yet because Google keeps telling me "this product is not available in your country yet"
Definitely want the LTE version....

Like others have already said, my current N7 is doing what I need it to just fine!
Also, I found that I wouldn't mind having the mobile connectivity when I choose to; so I think I'd only upgrade if they came out with the LTE model in Canada.

Mine also..still working good. Otg making me not needing the use of nexus 7 2nd gen camera. I think i'll have to wait for the 3rd gen to come out just to upgrade.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I don't want to upgrade because of putting out the cash. I like my 1st gen tablet. It works great, fast and does everything I need it to do. Other than the sake of having something new, meh I don't care.

Whom to blame, Google or Asus?

Nexus 7 2013 has been out for almost a month and we keep seeing more hardware and software issues appearing. Is Google letting us down or Asus mass production issue? Your thought?
Storm in a teacup, all hardware and software will have glitches, the complainers are usually just the loudest ones in any forum
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
More issues appearing? What are you talking about? Most of the software issues are patched now... And the hardware issues were with the first batch...
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
This device rocks, software is not an issue if you're patient. Hardware seems like luck of the draw, with most being lucky. I think all the "issues" people are having shout the loudest 'cause people in general only want to hear the bad news.
I rooted my device in Linux with no issues, have changed roms multiple times and settled on PA, faux123's ES003 and love it. Great battery life, great speed, great sound, great screen, zero issues with multi-touch, no creaking or rattling (I refuse to shake or thump or twist my device), and I can get a GPS fix in my basement. Oh, and Bluetooth works, haven' t seen any light bleed, my charger doesn't hum or buzz, and the back is free of the blighted "oil slick". I am aware of all these issues because they are at the forefront of the forums continually, but I have yet to observe any of them first hand.
So, to get back to the OP's question: I think Google and Asus have both done well to create the best device I've ever owned. I blame both of them for building an inexpensive and powerful tablet.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
I have not experienced any issues so far but I was expecting a few seeing as we early adopters for the new Android versions. I think that is a good thing.

Some of us go to a great length trying to find what is wrong with their device. If you ask for it you will get it lol.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I don't know of many hardware issues. I think most were to blame on a faulty patch that Google pulled and replaced.
Most people replaced swapped out their tablets because of these but overall I think it was a successful launch. Not many hardware problems at all. Of course you'll get a few duds from every batch. Nothing alarming though.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Nexus devices have always been "Dev" devices so the occasional hiccup is expected. Google, nor Asus is at fault. The important thing is that known issues have already been rectified. Nexus devices have always been Dev devices in the past. I think people are only posting bad news. I've had 2 new nexus 7s (exchanged 16gb for 32gb) and 0 Build quality issues.
Dude you're getting a $240 device with huge specs and you're complaining
Yes this device is awesome
Sent from my Nexus 7 (2013)
I think a lot of the complaining is coming from people just looking for problems. Its no surprise that if they are looking for them that they find something to complain about. Many of the "issues" I have seen discussed on here are either complete user error or someone being ridiculously anal. Seriously anyone returning a Nexus 7 because it makes a alight noise if you tap it near the camera, or you can hear the speakers buzz when you hold it within a mm of your ear, or because if you press down hard on the case near the Asus logo it creaks, should be banned from buying retail electronics. These kinds of people just drive costs up for the rest of us.

Blame Google and Asus together. Most of the details should be improved.
So GPS lock issue is absolutely 100% gone?

I guess you have to put this into relation to total sales and if you look at the percentage that will come up, I guess every manufacturer will have a similar one. 100 sounds alot but in relation to (just as example) 100.000 sold devices it is just 0.1%...sure you can always find something wrong with anything . I am very happy with my Nexus 7
Not when you note that a number of them have returned 2 or more units.
Also, it's not like they're being 'picky' about it. Random reboots, dead areas of the screen, non-working GPS are hardly minor issues that are easily overlooked.
Add to that the number of people who might have just returned the device, bought a different brand (or nothing) and didn't bother to search out or post to that site about the experience.
I bought a16gb nexus when they first came out. A year later I bought a 32gb one for my wife. When the nexus (2013) came out, I replaced mine with a new 32gb one. I passed my original down to my son. All perfect, and a delight to use. Hooked on qi charging with the new one.

Should I purchase a Nexus 6P or look elsewhere?

Is the Nexus 6P bootlooping as much as the Nexus 5X? Is it strictly a software or hardware problem with the Nexus 6P? I need to look for a new phone and the only choice I have is a Nexus 6P but I'm too afraid of it bootlooping like my Nexus 5X.

To be honest if you look through the help threads you will see the amount of phones getting hit by this bootloop bug, here and on Reddit there are numerous devices. Now there are some that do not have those bug but it's a chance that it can happen. I fell victim to this bootloop fiasco and was never able to recover from it no matter what I tried, and I tried everything there is. I wound up doing an RMA as I was still under warranty.
Honestly I would only buy the 6P if it comes with a warranty or something. I've been blessed with mine never experienced any of the boot looping that a lot have.
But I been thinking of getting the OP3T as I'm having the New Phone Itch. But it's not much of an upgrade IMO. So I may wait for the OP4 then upgrade.
Good luck on your hunt
