BEWARE: Reports of camera not working after unlocking the bootloader - Xperia Z1 General

If you are planning to unlock your bootloader, you'd better backup your TA partition first or wait for a fix, because some users are reporting they can't use the camera after unlocking

I think bionz image processor is software emulation of the processor. have to check the device for confirmation. so sony is protecting their algorithm .. just like X-reality/ bravia engine. the bravia engine that we get for unlocked devices are not exact replica of the original one. In future they might introduce dual mode one with bionz and one without. so that they can give unlockability ...

Bravia Engine is lost when unlocking any Xperia with it, so You may be right.
They have some innovative features packed into their new camera and that could be the reason.
Has anybody tried to check if another camera softwre can still reach the hardware?

Just backup TA partition and restore after unlocking.

I'm sorry they're not! They're just doing what any other company is doing. Remember, you are unofficially unlocking the bootloader! Wait for the proper tool and if then it happens, Sony are being disgusting!

At this point, we don't even know if it's purposeful. Could've just been an oversight or something like that.

Maybe it's a bug, bin4ry will ask Sony about it

Seems like a bug to me, as this doesn't fit with Sonys previous strategy when it comes to bootloader unlocking.
Probably the camera firmware simply fails to load completely when the Bionz-key is missing, there's likely a fallback-algorithm in place already that simply fails to get loaded in place of Bionz.

Hi everyone, so I am a bit confused here and have a few questions, after unlocking will I be able to restore TA partition ?, and (restoring TA partition) will that keep the bootloader still unlocked ??, thanks.

Yes you will be able to restore your TA partition after unlocking.
But the point here is Sony's bootloader unlocking tool has not been officialy updated to support the Z1, yet, so we don't know for sure, andd users are using it under their own risk.
.

Please be sure to backup TA!

:/ looks like its better to wait for the official solution for unlocking.

Hope that SONY give solution as soon as possible!

Im confused now, so can I UNLBL?
Hi all! So is it sure that I'll be able to ULBL later? I haven't bought my Z1 yet, and now I'm searching for all the bugs it has, and all things, comparing it to LG G2 (but the G2 will only be available a month later here, so I want to buy the Z1, but if I can't unlock it I won't :/)

There is a warning on the official sony site regarding the camera problem. I hope they'll solve this issue. until then I keep my hox.

Yea, good luck with that one.
Two months ago I've just accepted the fact that my X8 is a garbage and I have to buy a better phone in case I want something done.
X8 is a entry level phone, sad but true :\
There is nothing wrong with X8. It is a great phone for its price.

Amazing value. SE really make great hardware. The software is clear and clever also, very modern architecture.
Only thing letting this highly impressive stack of accolades is this drm on the bootloader. This will not effect most daily users, they won't even notice I'm a Dev... I unfortunately do though :-(

I like to know that to. I have LT15a generic user world rom which I thought it will help some people to use this.
Any help would be nice. I did the update with SEUS and the files are in the folder but don't know how I can decrypt them as didn't work with Flash Tool.
Thanks
I never did it but logically:
USB debugging ON
plug the Arc to the PC and don't bother change the ''connect'' feature.
Open DOS window in the SDK tool folder where the adb executable is, then:
ADB devices
ADB pull *.* /system
ADB pull *.* /data
It should copy all your system and data files to the adb folder in your PC
Ok. Thank you.
Last two questions before I make a dump of my LT15i. Do I have to do it on a unix system or there is no matter if I do it on a windows ?
Do I have to reset my phone before the dump to have a clean filesystem dump ?
ps : the two commands give me the same results for the contents of the directory /system and /data on my computer.
You can use windows of course!
It would have been lot easier if we had recovery on Arc, you just have to nand backup and voila! but we still don't have root
OK. So here is my dump
Device : LT15i
Bootloader : unlocked
Phone software version : 1241-4324_3.0.A.2.181 GENERIC - user
File System Version : WORLD-1-8_3.0.A.2.181

Hi this is not about surprises and its for the purpose to know the intention of this thread.
To clear your thoughts;
Features:
- Supports all the machines that are allowed to unlock bootloader by sonymobile.com including 2010,2011,2012 line.
- Automatically get the unlock code from Sony Ericsson website within 10 seconds after entering the IMEI code.
- Automatically fully unlock the bootloader without the need of any command line.
- Support flashing .IMG boot file, .SIN kernel to change the kernel to install CWM or root the phone with the corresponding IMG file.
- Support flashing .FTF file with Flashtool core libs
- Support Relock Bootloader

Our phone is with 2010 line. But the real Problem is people get a hardbrick on 11w29+ as stated in Hard Brick warning. Well it takes some guts for people to try this if you want.
I don't think it's working for 11w29+. Maybe.
OP of that thread made a mistake. It is only for 2011 and 2012 phones.
If you want to unlock the BL of 2011 and 2012 devices the official way, you have to go to http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/, enter IMEI, get code, and then do something with it D). And this is what this tool does. It does it automatically, it sends IMEI to http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/, gets unlock code and unlocks the BL. It's just more comfort way, you just have to enter IMEi and it will do everything automatically. And it is only for 2011 and 2012 phones. This has been discussed many times...
I think that it maybe work for all sony device, but i didn't try yet...!! who want to try??? here from original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794800<br />

Pccompanion was always better. In S(E)US you could only download the files with a locked bootloader, at least with pccompanion it allows you to download the files then stops at the installation part with an unlocked bootloader. This lets you make the FTF file and flash it anyway. So much easier.....
When I was using SEUS pc companion didn't exist.
SEUS have sentimental worth, you cannot understand that if you didn't use Sony Ericsson in last 6-7 years

You may want to have a look here

It not only checks every firmware for the latest version but has a database of FTF's for downloading
It may be worth speaking to the OP of that thread to see if your projects overlap or if you could help each other

My program doesn't need anything from the users, it gets the official FILE_* from Sony's Update servers. You can create any FTF you want with them. I've got some private complementary programs that search for new CDFs and new releases automatically. The CDA numbers will be stored on my own servers along with Release information (because Sony removes old releases from the update, but the actual files are still on the server, which means any release before I started to build this program are probably gone forever).
Hey,
It was not meant negatively, just a heads up, I just though it may help you or them in furthering your project

Did I sound negative? Sorry, too much House MD hah.
I was just pointing out that our programs use different approaches. I do the updating manually using my own automatic tools.
That guys actually relies on the community to provide ready-to-use FTFs hosted on public sharing sites.
OK, no worries

I hope you or the others have some time to test the latest CM13 release,
better flash TWRP first (the one dedicated to CM/AOSP-based ROMs) and then the ROM, Kernel, Gapps (+/- XPosed, if you need),
I flashed all 4 in one go and it went without problems.
Thanks !
Well time to report.
The ROM runs quite smooth on my E6683, but there's no SIM Detection. However there's duall sim setting.
The camera won't work, but all of the other functions are ok.
Now returning back to stock cuz to I have to use the phone function....you know, as you've mentioned, it's a phone but not a PDA.
Hope those will help.
Edit: Ahhhhhhhh I flash back to stock too quickly and I forgot to get the logs... Will get them this weekend if you want.
