Arc stockROM - Xperia Arc General

Might be premature but can someone say if the Xperia Arc Rom, being 2.3 will be compatible with the X10? Some apps are bound to work.. Looking like a good Gingerbread phone and potential ROM solution for the X10

I am sure that Bin4ry, jerpelea, zdzihu and all the other awesome devs will have no problem finding a way to port and flash the 2.3 Xperia arc ROM onto our X10's!

Hi,
As stated in the title I've got a SE Xperia Arc here. It's obvious you guys want the software on this thing. I can dump it, if someone can provide instructions. I am familiar with ADB, command line usage etc.

Yea, good luck with that one.
Two months ago I've just accepted the fact that my X8 is a garbage and I have to buy a better phone in case I want something done.
X8 is a entry level phone, sad but true :\

There is nothing wrong with X8. It is a great phone for its price.

Amazing value. SE really make great hardware. The software is clear and clever also, very modern architecture.
Only thing letting this highly impressive stack of accolades is this drm on the bootloader. This will not effect most daily users, they won't even notice I'm a Dev... I unfortunately do though :-(

Hi all,
I have an xperia arc with Generic World stock rom and opened bootloader. How can I make a dump of the system file ? perhaps it will help for the dev. Thanks

I like to know that to. I have LT15a generic user world rom which I thought it will help some people to use this.
Any help would be nice. I did the update with SEUS and the files are in the folder but don't know how I can decrypt them as didn't work with Flash Tool.
Thanks

I never did it but logically:
USB debugging ON
plug the Arc to the PC and don't bother change the ''connect'' feature.
Open DOS window in the SDK tool folder where the adb executable is, then:
ADB devices
ADB pull *.* /system
ADB pull *.* /data
It should copy all your system and data files to the adb folder in your PC

Ok. Thank you.
Last two questions before I make a dump of my LT15i. Do I have to do it on a unix system or there is no matter if I do it on a windows ?
Do I have to reset my phone before the dump to have a clean filesystem dump ?
ps : the two commands give me the same results for the contents of the directory /system and /data on my computer.

You can use windows of course!
It would have been lot easier if we had recovery on Arc, you just have to nand backup and voila! but we still don't have root

OK. So here is my dump
Device : LT15i
Bootloader : unlocked
Phone software version : 1241-4324_3.0.A.2.181 GENERIC - user
File System Version : WORLD-1-8_3.0.A.2.181

If you need more files from my phone, ask me, I'll upload them. Just tell me how to proceed.

[Q] USB-host

Can we make a USB-host support or our device hopeless as SE support?
I need to know, too. Because I must decide to buy X8 or not in next hours.
So is there a mod so I can plugin a card reader, cam or cam corder via USB? Best would be to directly contact with my HD camcorder which got an HDD storage drive and mini USB.
Please reply fast!!
Could this work? WMStorage (sometimes named as WM5torage) is a thing I found. Put it in google its the first link from site called deblor.
I read often in Custom ROMs of "USB mass storage". Does this mean with these ROMs I can use the X8 as an USB host?
This is really important. Please tell me if there is a way.
So how about it?!
I think we can get it if doixah read this tread
or other devs
I know that Qualcomm MSM7227 (our CPU) supports USB-host... For example developers make this for ZTE Blade sven.killig.de/android/Blade/usb_host/ But we should be able to boot from custom kernel
PS: sorry, my English can be terrible

At one point DoomLord had a means of seeing how old the ROM was... when it was signed.
maybe it is a pre-upgrade to ics or jb that leaves everything more advisable to make the jump

I have been testing the new baseband on the T-Mobile network in the netherlands (wich is known for bad internet connections).

Pccompanion was always better. In S(E)US you could only download the files with a locked bootloader, at least with pccompanion it allows you to download the files then stops at the installation part with an unlocked bootloader. This lets you make the FTF file and flash it anyway. So much easier.....
When I was using SEUS pc companion didn't exist.
SEUS have sentimental worth, you cannot understand that if you didn't use Sony Ericsson in last 6-7 years

My program doesn't need anything from the users, it gets the official FILE_* from Sony's Update servers. You can create any FTF you want with them. I've got some private complementary programs that search for new CDFs and new releases automatically. The CDA numbers will be stored on my own servers along with Release information (because Sony removes old releases from the update, but the actual files are still on the server, which means any release before I started to build this program are probably gone forever).
Hey,
It was not meant negatively, just a heads up, I just though it may help you or them in furthering your project

Did I sound negative? Sorry, too much House MD hah.
I was just pointing out that our programs use different approaches. I do the updating manually using my own automatic tools.
That guys actually relies on the community to provide ready-to-use FTFs hosted on public sharing sites.
OK, no worries
