I have no idea how this wireless charging thign works. Do I need to buy a dock? Will any work? Somebody link one for me on amazon or something? lol

Any QI wireless charger will work. I recommend Nokia. AT&T sells these.

So a Nokia QI charger will work with the G2?

I wish it would work with my Palm Pre wireless charger puck. Ugh, I wish I could still use WebOS.

Will this wireless charger work?
They sell it on the verizon website as well, but when I clicked on "See if its compatible with your phone" It says it's not compatible with the LG G2

It's Amazon, try it out and if it does not work return it. It's free to return. No risk in trying it out. I'd be interested in knowing too. That Nokia pad is a lot more classy than the ones Verizon sells.

Yes, that one will work.
I have that charger and the Verizon G2, confirmed working this evening. Works through a double layer case as well, no problems.
Also, if you don't want to wait, Verizon sells that wireless charger in the store, usually black only, for $50.

The LG wireless charger is awful. Get the Nokia and you will be happy.

I hope you have been reading the news, or looking at the Nexus 4 manual, or watch the Google's Verge promotional video or this upcoming Nexus 4 announcement event before assuming that.
But here I am being a sucker thing it was supposed to come free with the device.

Watching the Verge video you can hear them saying that it's not ready yet. So I suppose it might be ready at November 13th. Or later. Who knows ? !
You can buy Palm Touchstones on Amazon or eBay for $3 to $9 USD. If the Google ones are more than that you can go that route. Or get one of those Nokia 920 pillow things. They all use Qi charging.

Yes they will, that's why he suggested them. It uses the Qi standard, so anything that uses Qi will work with the N4, and both the Palm and the Nokia use Qi.

[Q] Will Nexus 4 recharge on a Duracell Powermat?

Will Nexus 4 recharge on a Duracell Powermat? I've read a few articles about the different wireless charging standards, but most of them are pretty vague about the differences and if there is cross-compatiblity (even if at a reduced efficiency).
I've got a Powermat PMM-1PA and wondered the same thing. The Nexus 4 is Qi compliant when it comes to wireless charging. The best info I've found so far comes from here

Yeah, I emailed them to check and make sure before I bought something, and they it was a no go.
Hi people,
just to clarify, this is not what says the president of powermatt:
http://www.wirelesspowerplanet.com/news/10-questions-for-daniel-schreiber-president-of-powermat/
and always this is not what customers on amazon are saying:
http://www.amazon.com/Energizer-Qi-Enabled-Position-Inductive-Charger/product-reviews/B0041RRORA
Powermat is QI compliant.
The Duracell powermat does not specifiy that its a "qi" device.. I have witnessed the lg qi charger go up $12 in under 24 hours from retailers on Amazon in fact many sites are sold out. The lumina chargers are going for over $90!!! The gouging has begun for the holiday season.

I know for a fact the Duracell Powermat M1PB1 from Amazon DOES NOT work. Purchased it and returned it because it didn't charge my phone. Shame, it was great build quality and really good looking, IMO
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Really? Sorry for the post stating it does. I'll take it down. Dude, I looked on sooo many sights and came to the conclusion it would. Sites said it was "qi"compatible. So angry. Gotta return mine when it arrives tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up. I can believe you can't get that info from the Duracell web site, almost as they mislead you by not mentioning its compatibility.

the sweet spot is in the middle of the phone when placed at 90 degrees to the mat just slide it back and forth till you hit it.
and no i don't mean it works with the tranciever thingys it works nativley

That item has nothing to do with this thread as this thread is specifically for the Duracell power at which does not work.
I can confirm that the single Powermat does not work to charge the Nexus 4.
I was in-stores and found the Powermat at $8, asked the clerk to let me test it first... it didn't work.
I tried to place it carefully, sliding slowly to hit the sweet spot, but nothing... doesn't work.

What do you use for Wireless Charging?

As title suggests.. Wondering what people with an N4 already use for their wireless charging needs.
I am looking for something with a reasonably large surface area i can put on my bedside table. (Idea would be just lay phone on it when going to sleep.. but not care about orientation or position). It would need to be flat as i sometimes keep my N7 on there and other stuff..
I'm waiting, 1) the ones out now for the most part are expensive $50+ and 2) all of them seem to have some type of issue
IF I was going to buy one it would probably be the LG but for a larger surface area there is the energizer 2 device panel, I was really hoping the nokia pillow would be flawless.

Happy with it so far but for what it is its too expensive.

Is that the same LG charger that is constantly out of stock and not even being sold in some countries ? :silly: It's a good job the Nexus is a Qi compatible phone and we aren't restricted to LG's offerings if we were some of us would die of old age before we get our hands on their chargers.
Using a Maxell here myself, I had a bit of a problem to start with though but once I disabled the daydream feature on android the phone wirelessly charges like a dream. If I ever live long enough to see it I will probably buy the LG Orb for the Nexus as well, that is assuming I live long enough and I have more luck than winning the lottery at trying to buy one.

I really had no problem buying it from Verizon. If it's super imperative, I would buy a few and sell at cost, but is no longer allowed on xda . I basically just walked in and paid $50.

Yep, that's the one. And I agree it's great that the standardized qi is being used. Hopefully wireless charging really takes off and the LG charger is more readily available and the orb is released.
I bought the LG one on sale at Verizon (US) for $50. They also had the Nokia one for the same price, but I went with the LG because it seemed less finicky than the Nokia. I also like the LG's less slippery surface. I may someday want to prop up one end of it, though it's not THAT non-slip. If I had more money, the JBL charging boombox seemed really neat. I just think $250 is a bit steep.
I am using the LG one as well, shipped over from the states (I am in the UK). Stuck it in a travel adapter and it works great. I followed the instructions someone posted here to nix the speaker cos the beep was too annoying and it is now a lovely silent desk companion! The LED is plenty of notification for me

I know an official case is in the works for the international G2 but whether or not we can use that, well, I've got no idea. I'd like to see a hardware teardown and if all other variants are the same, then I imagine we should be able to use it.
Edit: This is all we've got to go on for now.
LG has confirmed with Pocket-Lint that the manufacturer will be making an accessory available to give wireless charging capabilities to the handset, at least in Europe.
Now this seems a little odd for Verizon to have a worldwide exclusive on wireless charging, but we have to at least give a small bit of credit to LG for making something else available. (Naturally, we would have preferred if LG didn't cave to such a crazy demand.) Unfortunately at this time LG was unwilling to confirm the pricing or release date of such accessory, even as the phone gets ready to go on sale next month.

Take a look at the thread here
Looks like the may be a way to mod wireless charging... if we find out which pins are for wireless charging then we just need to get one of the many QI inserts and put the coil in it.... or take the verizon coils out. I would like to see if the verizon version will be able to remove the back cover and if so which pins it connects to...

Bell will be carrying the LG G3

I was talking to a sales person at Bell today, and he said the LG rep was in yesterday talking about the G3, and that Bell will be carrying the phone.

Just buy a rogers version and unlock it, should be out early august or so.
Now with the possibility of an 805 based G3 i may wait it out for that one
sent from Canada via my Note 3, Note 2 or One X +
Good day...I just picked up the g3 from Bell, and am wondering about wireless charging...Talked to Bell, and they don't seem to know...I know the back that the phone ships with only has the standard two pin connection. I am asking this because Rogers variants of the g3 only support PMA charging, like AT&T versions. I am hoping Bell didn't go this route. Does anyone know if the Bell g3 supports Qi charging, or do I have to go with the PMA enabled Circle Case from LG, which people have been having problems with. Thanks
Every canadians versions cannot use wireless just like at&t even if you buy a wireless kit its not supported ...its bad for us but we also paying the phone a bit less than US market
From Lg G3 "the beast"
All Canadian models are the same as At&T and support PMA. I don't think it works out the box though.
The only way I know of is to get the Quick Circle cover with PMA wireless charging capability. I picked up a case off of ebay (after having an issue with an Amazon seller that sent me the wrong case) and a duracell powermat off of Amazon. It works pretty well.
Oh I taught it was not working at all im really happy if we just have to buy a back cover with the wireless charging sticker on it
