Bell will be carrying the LG G3 - G3 General

I was talking to a sales person at Bell today, and he said the LG rep was in yesterday talking about the G3, and that Bell will be carrying the phone.
He also seemed to think the phone will be available on May 27. Perfect timing for me, as I'm up for a new phone in June!

LG knows to release their phone on all major carriers already, if you had G2 you most likely will have G3

if it's true that it will actually be available on the 27th, that's the best news all day.

i would get it too, hoping it will have support for me on Tmo USA

Just buy a rogers version and unlock it, should be out early august or so.
Now with the possibility of an 805 based G3 i may wait it out for that one
sent from Canada via my Note 3, Note 2 or One X +

Good day...I just picked up the g3 from Bell, and am wondering about wireless charging...Talked to Bell, and they don't seem to know...I know the back that the phone ships with only has the standard two pin connection. I am asking this because Rogers variants of the g3 only support PMA charging, like AT&T versions. I am hoping Bell didn't go this route. Does anyone know if the Bell g3 supports Qi charging, or do I have to go with the PMA enabled Circle Case from LG, which people have been having problems with. Thanks

Every canadians versions cannot use wireless just like at&t even if you buy a wireless kit its not supported ...its bad for us but we also paying the phone a bit less than US market
From Lg G3 "the beast"

All Canadian models are the same as At&T and support PMA. I don't think it works out the box though.

The only way I know of is to get the Quick Circle cover with PMA wireless charging capability. I picked up a case off of ebay (after having an issue with an Amazon seller that sent me the wrong case) and a duracell powermat off of Amazon. It works pretty well.

Oh I taught it was not working at all im really happy if we just have to buy a back cover with the wireless charging sticker on it

Decision on buying Unlocked or AT&T Brand

If I buy an unlocked version for AT&T where is the best place to buy one? I would want one with a warranty first and foremost. Also, is the home button one that goes out easily? Will the phone run as fast as the one that will come out on AT&T officially? I wouldn't want to spend a ton of money on an unlocked one to find out it's slower than the one that AT&T puts out for hundreds of dollars cheaper.
Next is what about warranty. How safe am I buying unlocked? I have read a lot on this board about yellow stains and stuck pixels. How common are these to get? I don't want to buy a phone that's so much money to be stuck with these problems.
Thanks all

Expansys-USA provides warranty support for phones they sell meaning they'll ship it back to the UK if it needs service. If you buy it from an authorized dealer in the U.K. it's covered by Samsung's two-year global warranty. Regardless, count on being without your phone for a couple of weeks if it needs repair. If you're looking for the safety and security of a direct replacement overnighted from your carrier and loss/theft coverage importing a phone probably isn't for you.

It seems sturdy and I don't think there were problems with the SGS1 which utilized a home button also.

Unless the AT&T version has an upgraded processor then it wouldn't be any faster. T-Mobile is getting a version with the same Qualcomm chip as the Sensation which hasn't benchmarked well. The leaked pics of Sprint's version appears to be a real SGS2. Nothing specific's been posted about AT&T's version so it could be a 4.3" display with an Exynos chip or a 4.5" display with a Qualcomm chip. They just announced there first LTE phone won't be out until the end of the year and code for AT&T's LTE network was found in one of the latest ROMs. This means their SGS2 might not come out for a while or they'll be releasing it sooner as an HSPA+ phone vs. an LTE phone.

There have been some QC issues with the screen and some variances in color temperature from device to device. If you but if from Expansys exchanging it would be fairly simple. If you buy it in the UK it'll cost you shipping. Stay away from Handtec, they were hassling people on display related exchanges.
You have been very helpful my friend. What would you do? Would you wait for AT&T? Or would you buy unlocked? I have also heard a rumor that AT&T is going to go with the 4.5 inch screen size is that true?

I would get international version for faster updates or bug fixes. You get to have SGS2 before many people.
Also, is HSPA+ phone as fast as the LTE phone? Will I even notice that big of a difference?
So newegg is a no go. I checked out Expansys-US and it looks legit.

LTE only matters if you plan on keeping the phone for a long time. AT&T's only going to have 15 markets up this year. If you get an international phone you can get fake-4G for $10 a month. LTE, while faster, is $30 for 2GB of data and $10 per GB beyond that. And you can't tether at that price. I stream video and tether a tablet and have had no speed issues and I'm in a 3G market.
You sound really paranoid about getting an international phone. You need to think hard about the downside.
- Warranty work will easily take weeks.
- You can buy accident insurance from SquareTrade for $94 for two years but you can't get theft/loss protection.
- If there are QC defects out of the box it'll be a pain to exchange the phone.
The upside is you can get cheap unlimited data (via AT&T), upgrades directly from Samsung, and there's no carrier molestation with crap added or functions stripped out.
Personally, if AT&T gets the same phone T-Mobile is (4.5" display/Qualcomm chip), I'd skip it. Without the Exynos chip the 4.5" phone is an SGS2 for marketing purposes only.
Not paranoid just getting all of the facts. Is the att version going to be 4.5?

So do any models actually have a real US warranty? (I.e. Not the Expansys deal).
I didn't think Samsung offers any US warranty coverage since the GSII hasn't been produced for the US.
I saw the "International Warranty" model on Amazon but no one can prove it's actually warranted...they just assume it's covered in the US.

If you send a phone to Samsung for repair they'll ask for a copy of the invoice and possibly a credit card statement if they're suspicious about the authenticity of the invoice. Any phone purchased outside it's intended market of sale is considered grey market and therefore has no warranty. Same thing for purchasing it from a retailer not authorized by Samsung. Since no model of the SGS2 is intended for sale in the U.S. buying it from anyone in the U.S. means it has no warranty - no matter what the seller might tell you. Supposedly, because the warranty is considered global, a properly purchased UK phone should be repaired by Samsung in the U.S. No one's tested that though. Expansys, because they have offices in the UK, ships the phone back through their UK office for warranty repairs.
If I were to buy Expansys-US would be the place because they do cover it. Now only problem is what if I buy it and AT&T come out with theirs in two weeks LOL! Also, what's the fail rate on the screens, etc?

AT&T WILL probably have the Galaxy S II in a few weeks... if you can you are probably better off waiting to see which model you prefer. I heard US varients of the GS II were getting Tegra processors and of course AT&T will cripple the phone with bloatware and slow updates.. so I went ahead and got an unlocked one from Amazon that DOES have a warrenty. Who knows, maybe AT&T will surprise everyone and keep the Galaxy S II the way it should be.

I doubt there would be long lines, if any for the Galaxy S II at an AT&T store. Now the iPhone 5... that's a different story haha . But yea I don't know what to say, the unlocked Galaxy S II is awesome if you have some extra money to spend... otherwise wait and see what AT&T has to offer.

Quick purchasing (in US) questions

I want a galaxy note. (doesn't everyone?) Sadly, Samsung neglects those of us in the US, making us wait months and months after a phone is released before we see it. Even then, we only get the "carrier downgraded" versions.
So, I'm going to order an unlocked version online. Actually, I just placed an order with amazon.com for one that comes with a 3rd party 90 day US warranty, and is described as "Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Unlocked Cellphone--US Warranty (Blue)" (Looks like I got the last one they have in stock, too.)
Does anyone have any idea what "(blue)" is all about? Is this the same Galaxy Note seen throughout Europe, or some US downgraded one? The model number is listed as "GT-N7000", but I'm paranoid... Perhaps it's just a different color batter cover?
Does the Note have 5GHz wifi, or only 2.4GHz? (I've googled for this, but some places claim "802.11 b/g/n" while others claim "802.11 a/b/g/n"
I've seen (and am thankful for) the sticky posted for US users on AT&T. The APN settings pretty much match what I'm using on my GSII (at&t downgraded version.)
Anything else I need to know before I start using this new phone? (I'm coming from a galaxy SII (at&t version.)
Thank you
Gary
The blue colour is the one which is sold everywhere. Its dark blue. I think the note supports 802.11 b/g/n both 5hz and 2.4hz

I would be more suspicious of that "US Warranty." Who's the 3rd party, and what are the terms?
Welcome aboard! I also come from S2 but International Version....I have the Gnote about a month ago... Yes...it's connect to WIFI 5G ( my router Netgear WNDR 3700). I have the ATT go phone plan, and getting average about 1.5 - 2.5 MB/s @ my area with the latest firmware. You have to flash the new firmware for the fast data speed. Very happy with these speed from a go-phone plan.
I also ordered from Amazon fulfilled (Global Mobiles) and got the German Version.
The battery cover is a very dark blue color. It's almost black, but in the light you can see it's dark blue. It's very nice.
What amazon seller did you buy the Note from?
Samsung doesnt make you wait, its the us carriers to blame.

I went with expansys us - which is a big reputable cell importer, has a huge supply of the Note ( 31 in stock currently) and many of its accessories, and when I called them explained that they had a real 2 year Samsung European warranty that you have to go back through them to fulfill. 2 yrs though with no cost.
$689.99, free ship. -- to me was the best $/warranty/speed to deliver deal with the reputable dealer.
Got it it delivered quickly and in my hands. They communicated throughout.

What do you use for Wireless Charging?

As title suggests.. Wondering what people with an N4 already use for their wireless charging needs.
I am looking for something with a reasonably large surface area i can put on my bedside table. (Idea would be just lay phone on it when going to sleep.. but not care about orientation or position). It would need to be flat as i sometimes keep my N7 on there and other stuff..
I'm waiting, 1) the ones out now for the most part are expensive $50+ and 2) all of them seem to have some type of issue
IF I was going to buy one it would probably be the LG but for a larger surface area there is the energizer 2 device panel, I was really hoping the nokia pillow would be flawless.

Is that the same LG charger that is constantly out of stock and not even being sold in some countries ? :silly: It's a good job the Nexus is a Qi compatible phone and we aren't restricted to LG's offerings if we were some of us would die of old age before we get our hands on their chargers.
Using a Maxell here myself, I had a bit of a problem to start with though but once I disabled the daydream feature on android the phone wirelessly charges like a dream. If I ever live long enough to see it I will probably buy the LG Orb for the Nexus as well, that is assuming I live long enough and I have more luck than winning the lottery at trying to buy one.

Yep, that's the one. And I agree it's great that the standardized qi is being used. Hopefully wireless charging really takes off and the LG charger is more readily available and the orb is released.
I bought the LG one on sale at Verizon (US) for $50. They also had the Nokia one for the same price, but I went with the LG because it seemed less finicky than the Nokia. I also like the LG's less slippery surface. I may someday want to prop up one end of it, though it's not THAT non-slip. If I had more money, the JBL charging boombox seemed really neat. I just think $250 is a bit steep.
I am using the LG one as well, shipped over from the states (I am in the UK). Stuck it in a travel adapter and it works great. I followed the instructions someone posted here to nix the speaker cos the beep was too annoying and it is now a lovely silent desk companion! The LED is plenty of notification for me

HTC One in Canada.

Thought I would start this thread for those who have info regarding the upcoming release of the One in Canada.
I have pre-ordered mine through Rogers. I believe the pre-order ends on March 22. Perhaps that is when we may expect the release of the One. That's the most solid info that seems to be floating around.
Anyone have info related to the Canadian release date, please post.

Yes,
I did the opposite. I bought a One V from Koodo outright ($175), put my Telus sim card in it and was up and running in no time.
A Telus or Koodo "locked" device work on either. My "my Telus Mobility" page even shows a Koodo One V as my current phone.

Damn I am jealous of all you guys. I got an HTC One X+ about 4 months ago. I would love to have the One but I need to wait for the next iteration. I know for the vast majority of people the storage is enough, but I need at least 64GB. My one X+ has 4 GB free and it is 64. Here is to hoping for the next one. I love the build quality of HTC devices compared to other android vendors, and from what it seems this one is the best so far.

Be careful, MOST of devices work on both carriers, but som eare locked to Koodo or Telus. For instance, Blackberries are locked, you cannot use a Telus Blackberry on Koodo.
Once again, most of devices will work on both carriers without unlocking

Yup, blackberries are unique because of BBM and the fact that their email etc has to be routed through their servers. That is also why all companies have smartphone plans, then blackberry plans due to the licencing fee. If it is not a Blackberry, it should be fine. The fellow I responded to was asking specifically about the One

I am hoping the 64gb version of the One makes it here (in black). If not, 32gb is fine for me at least. I got the One V as a temp phone cause I was pissed last years One XL and S had only 16gb versions for Canada. Almost jumpsed on the One X+ but figured i'd wait for the inevitable spring / MWC ish flagship that HTC always releases. I am glad I did.

I read that it would be available in March. I haven't read of any delays in Canada. Nothing other than they won't disclose a launch date and it is nearing the end of the month.
So perhaps it no longer is March.

In fact, they just delayed even further the release on the other markets (i.e., Italy was March end, now is April 13th)

Granted this was said in Feb.

AT&T In-store early?

I know that the release date for the AT&T version is actually tomorrow, but I was wondering whether anybody knew if AT&T stores would be willing to demo/sell the LG G2 a day early. Has anybody had any experience with AT&T doing something like this with newly released phones in the past?

They wouldn't even let me buy accessories for the phone that they had in stock and in the system till tomorrow.. Told them to kick rocks bought a screen protector and tpu/silicon case from Verizon yesterday.. Fits my Att g2 perfectly.

Hmm...I was thinking, if there's a lenient manager, do you think they'd allow me to look at it?
Att is kind of Nazi like that. Sprint sells phones early and Verizon does sometimes.
Don't expect to find a good manager who will let you play with a phone early.
