I hope you have been reading the news, or looking at the Nexus 4 manual, or watch the Google's Verge promotional video or this upcoming Nexus 4 announcement event before assuming that.
But here I am being a sucker thing it was supposed to come free with the device.
Sent from my R800x

Watching the Verge video you can hear them saying that it's not ready yet. So I suppose it might be ready at November 13th. Or later. Who knows ? !

You can buy Palm Touchstones on Amazon or eBay for $3 to $9 USD. If the Google ones are more than that you can go that route. Or get one of those Nokia 920 pillow things. They all use Qi charging.

Yes they will, that's why he suggested them. It uses the Qi standard, so anything that uses Qi will work with the N4, and both the Palm and the Nokia use Qi.

If I try wireless charging I think I'd want a pillow so my Nexus 4 can sleep sound next to me
But really, a soft charging dock would be nice

Included Accessories???

So I checked out the Engadget site and have been looking over all the photos as well as doing some searches. For some dumb reason when Engadget did the photo shoot of the unboxing they never took any photos of what is included in the box other than the shots with it wrapped up in the packaging still and no mention in the article. Does anyone know what this phone will ship with or do I have to wait until tomorrow? I saw what looks like contacts on the bottom of the phone for some form of docking station I would assume. I have also seen a screen shot that showed it has an Automobile Theme like the Droid does. So I would assume there is a car dock. Is that included or is it only the basic stuff like what HTC has always shipped like charger, USB cable and headphones?
I have not been able to find any more info on this....
Thanks
If you look at the leaked screens of the purchase page for the nexus one there is the $180 subsidized phone & $530 unsubsidized phone as we all know, but below that there is an option for a desktop charging dock and a car dock which are sold separately. However, in the engadget photos you mention I couldn't help but wonder what the larger item a the bottom of the box was as well. Despite being covered by some sort of styrofoam it looks a lot like some sort of dock...
Hope that helps, either way we'll know tomorrow for sure.

Yeah, that was the main part in question. I bought one of those cheap docks for my G1 that charges a second battery and I like it. I kind of became accustomed to having a dock for it at home for my night stand. I wonder if the car dock will charge as well?

Thanks, so it looks like the typical HTC Accessories. I wonder what the Charger looks like? It would be cool if it were a dock. At least that is what I would prefer.
I can see myself getting this phone provided that the leaked limited plan options doesn't pan out to be true. I don't see my self buying the full unlocked phone as my G1 isn't up for renewal yet. I can upgrade my wife's phone to this and give her my G1. Problem is that we are on a Family Plan and we have no desire to change that. I guess it will come down to the numbers. If it is going to end up being like that then I will likely just have her upgrade to the Motorola Cliq as she liked that phone and I would keep my G1 until the contract is up. For the same price though we could get a better phone, it would just be a lot more expensive per month for us. My G1 is Ok being it is rooted and running CyanogenMod.
I think they are going to follow Apple's lead and sell a dock for a "small" fee.

One thing that appears to suck though is that it looks to have a Micro USB connector rather than the Mini USB that my last 3 phones have all used. Oh well. If I go with it I will have to buy new car chargers. That is if I don't get the car dock which I most likely would. It is nice though to have one charger in our car that works on any of our phones now.
it also comes with a soft case that looks similar to the case the original PSP came with.

I was thinking the same thing, but then realized there are mini to micro usb adapters on ebay for like less than a buck. It looks like micro usb is starting to be the new standard like it is overseas.
I believe the USB micro is the new standardized connector for EU for all their new phones. I hope everyone follows on EU's lead on this soon. (I mean Apple).

[Q] Will Nexus 4 recharge on a Duracell Powermat?

Will Nexus 4 recharge on a Duracell Powermat? I've read a few articles about the different wireless charging standards, but most of them are pretty vague about the differences and if there is cross-compatiblity (even if at a reduced efficiency).
I've got a Powermat PMM-1PA and wondered the same thing. The Nexus 4 is Qi compliant when it comes to wireless charging. The best info I've found so far comes from here

Yeah, I emailed them to check and make sure before I bought something, and they it was a no go.
Hi people,
just to clarify, this is not what says the president of powermatt:
http://www.wirelesspowerplanet.com/news/10-questions-for-daniel-schreiber-president-of-powermat/
and always this is not what customers on amazon are saying:
http://www.amazon.com/Energizer-Qi-Enabled-Position-Inductive-Charger/product-reviews/B0041RRORA
Powermat is QI compliant.
The Duracell powermat does not specifiy that its a "qi" device.. I have witnessed the lg qi charger go up $12 in under 24 hours from retailers on Amazon in fact many sites are sold out. The lumina chargers are going for over $90!!! The gouging has begun for the holiday season.

I know for a fact the Duracell Powermat M1PB1 from Amazon DOES NOT work. Purchased it and returned it because it didn't charge my phone. Shame, it was great build quality and really good looking, IMO
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Really? Sorry for the post stating it does. I'll take it down. Dude, I looked on sooo many sights and came to the conclusion it would. Sites said it was "qi"compatible. So angry. Gotta return mine when it arrives tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up. I can believe you can't get that info from the Duracell web site, almost as they mislead you by not mentioning its compatibility.

hi I came across this discussion and thought that the info i have will help so i joined just to post it
I didnt bother doing any research and bought this
ebay uk item
170973013624 its a portable 3 device powermat with hinges to fold it down and 3 of the tranciever things.
possibly available elsewhere
it cost £5
I can confirm that
IT WILL CHARGE THE NEXUS 4
you just have to get it lined up right.
the sweet spot is in the middle of the phone when placed at 90 degrees to the mat just slide it back and forth till you hit it.
and no i don't mean it works with the tranciever thingys it works nativley
I know they are not supposed to but well proof of pudding is in a charging nexus 4 on this mat is it not?

That item has nothing to do with this thread as this thread is specifically for the Duracell power at which does not work.
I can confirm that the single Powermat does not work to charge the Nexus 4.
I was in-stores and found the Powermat at $8, asked the clerk to let me test it first... it didn't work.
I tried to place it carefully, sliding slowly to hit the sweet spot, but nothing... doesn't work.

What do you use for Wireless Charging?

As title suggests.. Wondering what people with an N4 already use for their wireless charging needs.
I am looking for something with a reasonably large surface area i can put on my bedside table. (Idea would be just lay phone on it when going to sleep.. but not care about orientation or position). It would need to be flat as i sometimes keep my N7 on there and other stuff..
I'm waiting, 1) the ones out now for the most part are expensive $50+ and 2) all of them seem to have some type of issue
IF I was going to buy one it would probably be the LG but for a larger surface area there is the energizer 2 device panel, I was really hoping the nokia pillow would be flawless.

I use the maxell one
maxell air voltage
Started with it on the bedside table but moved it to the desk (logic being I'm far more likely to be picking up and checking the phone while I'm awake just plug it in at night)
Happy with it so far but for what it is its too expensive.

Is that the same LG charger that is constantly out of stock and not even being sold in some countries ? :silly: It's a good job the Nexus is a Qi compatible phone and we aren't restricted to LG's offerings if we were some of us would die of old age before we get our hands on their chargers.
Using a Maxell here myself, I had a bit of a problem to start with though but once I disabled the daydream feature on android the phone wirelessly charges like a dream. If I ever live long enough to see it I will probably buy the LG Orb for the Nexus as well, that is assuming I live long enough and I have more luck than winning the lottery at trying to buy one.

I really had no problem buying it from Verizon. If it's super imperative, I would buy a few and sell at cost, but is no longer allowed on xda . I basically just walked in and paid $50.

Yep, that's the one. And I agree it's great that the standardized qi is being used. Hopefully wireless charging really takes off and the LG charger is more readily available and the orb is released.
I bought the LG one on sale at Verizon (US) for $50. They also had the Nokia one for the same price, but I went with the LG because it seemed less finicky than the Nokia. I also like the LG's less slippery surface. I may someday want to prop up one end of it, though it's not THAT non-slip. If I had more money, the JBL charging boombox seemed really neat. I just think $250 is a bit steep.
I am using the LG one as well, shipped over from the states (I am in the UK). Stuck it in a travel adapter and it works great. I followed the instructions someone posted here to nix the speaker cos the beep was too annoying and it is now a lovely silent desk companion! The LED is plenty of notification for me

No Charger with Phone

Just purchased mine for €560 on o2 PAYG have to get it unlocked, i was surprised to see there was no Charger with the phone, the o2 sticker on the says "there's no charger in this box, see how we're helping our planet" :-\ not a big deal I'll just use my Samsung charger but I don't recall anyone else on here saying they didn't get a charger with their phone.
Anyway finally I've got it just need to get this baby unlocked now and I'm flying
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
It's an O2 thing, they've done some eco-friendly deal with htc apparently. Google if your interested.
That's ridiculous! What's stopping o2 from taking the charger out of the box and then reselling it as an original accessory? What would have happenend if you had come from an iPhone? Would you have had to buy a seperate charger? The mind boggles!
They have teamed up with HTC to do it as far as I am aware. They do sell a non HTC charger thats meant to be more eco friendly for around £7.
The Samsung galaxy S3 charger works ok charging now but I'll have to take off a few quid when selling my S3 without the need charger, it is a bit ridiculous, there are plenty of other ways to "save the planet"
Now to get it unlocked

I think there was a ridiculous statistic involving filling up swimming pools with chargers that never get used.
Mine is still in the box, so there point is valid.

Yeah but what about people who haven't got charger, this means they have to purchase one separately, when you've just spend big money on a phone you shouldn't have to pay extra for a charger.

Speeds also the crucial factor here. Haven't received my One yet but every single phone I've ever used (aside from the iphone actually) charges like a disabled tortoise doing the 100m unless it's attached to the mains.

Perhaps, but we could pretend the cost of the device was cheaper because it had no charger. Although I highly doubt they would make you pay £5 for a new device with a 2 year contract just because it had the charger.
They key might be to haggle a little when you purchased, the assistant thought she was doing me a favour giving me a free One case when I got mine at Phones4U, I did then point out that this was as advertised on the website, but she didn't know that and was willing to throw a £25 case at me.
They have to be careful about this approach though, imagine someone getting a fancy phone like this for the first time, or someone coming from a device like the iphone with a different charger and realizing they have no charger for it ---> pretty pissed off.

i think he meant use the usb cable the comes with the htc with the iPhone usb plug, which would work since the voltage sent through usb's are mostly the same. but i can see why you were confused, i myself had to re-read it a few times before my brain actually switched on
