What's up Praneeth. Let's hope this happens soon. We need to start bugging Motorola and AT&T about this on public social sites. I've posted on Motorola G+ about it already.

If I were to root using this method, would I be able to receive OTAs?
Sent from my Moto X

Probably you can depending on what you have altered in the system, the ota will erase root , chances are someone will have a rooted version if any ota releases

let's hope motorola says something about this.

A question, why us Canadians are allowed to unlock our bootloaders ? Our carriers are normal very bad at allowing any alteration, normally our phones have more bloatware than stock Google apps. The only thing which makes sense to me is the Rogers moto x is the developer edition, seems a last minute decision was made but this is all speculation on my part

No way rogers is as bad as you can get, for that matter any Canadian carrier. They bend us over and give it to us.
look at it this way at least you still have a warranty
I'm almost positive this was a last minute decision or the initial stock sent our way was just a filler and the Rogers branded bloatware infested moto x is on the next shipment from china

I have a Rogers Moto X. When I try to unlock the bootloader it says that my device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking. So confused

Make sure you put all the letters in correct , without spaces also, I had the same issue, just a question, does your moto have a Rogers logo on the back cover?

UK Tesco Device - Unlock & Stock ROM

Just posting my experience of getting a fresh Moto G 16GB that was Tesco purchased - unlocked and to Stock.
I linked to the XDA thread by t-bon3 - which is a great guide.
Here is how it went for me.
First issue that the device is locked to tesco sim cards.
Note: you are not unlocking the bootloader or adding root to the system.
The phone will be exactly as if you bought it from retail, just you got it subsided by Tesco.
I choose these guys to get an unlock code - they seemed professional - I avoid ebay & paypal.
http://www.unlockunit.com/unlock-motorola-moto-g?var=tel
Form filling.......
Phone Model : *Moto G*
Country & Network : *United Kingdom - Tesco Mobile*
IMEI: *XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX*
E-mail: *YourEmail*
I then got 3 Emails.
1: Confirm Order
2: Confirm Payment
3: Unlock code (came 11 minutes after I paid)
There were 2 unlock codes - I put a non-tesco SIM in and was greeted with the prompt - the first code worked.
Then after that I followed this guide to Install the UK Retail firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47820707
Files From here
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=14
I used this one
Android 4.3
Blur_Version.14.71.8.falcon_umts.Retail.en.GB
*Retail UK*
407.3 MiB
40FD34F930D9ADD3AB3F65B5A23FCD00
Simple task, enable USB debugging, reboot into fastboot, run script, reboot.
Now just to wait for the Over The Air 4.4.2 update that is due any day for the UK phones.

I agree I paid too much.. no going back now.
However I disagree that using a Pseudo Stock Rom is superior to flashing an actual stock ROM
I've repacked the UK ROM with the necessary tools to convert a branded device (e.g. Tesco) to a generic device.

Wrong.
It is a full stock UK ROM. It wouldn't install if it wasn't.
In this case, repacked means adding the proper Moto fastboot tool, and a .bat file to automate the commands.
Appreciate the post, Tesco phone now on stock and unlocked via ebay..... cheers all.

Exactly, just does the long winded way from one simple command.
Actually, there is one error in the simple way, if you can call it that, he doesn't say you need to enable usb debugging before you start which might be confusing for noobs.
You don't need to enable it.
Put phone in fastboot, run .bat
Do you guys know if I can flash the US retail rom on my Canadian Koodo Moto g with the bootloader locked?
Try it and see, worst case scenario is it falls to install.

Not necessarily
My stock rom is not available yet so I would have to unlock the bootloader if it doesn't work. I want to keep my warranty. I will wait it out if I have to.

This should be more clear, for the new ones, it's confusing..the bootloader MUST be unlocked, which does not mean all models/variants..it works with (bootloader unlocked) devices ONLY..
The word "all" is misleading..

Any modification such as a recovery change, or a Root exploit ABSOLUTELY does effect an OTA..a boot loop can be expected..most OS modifications that are not compliant with the OTA will MOST likely create a boot loop..this is a well known fact..and the device will (most likely) be rendered useless as a cell phone..

If you have an unlocked XT1028, then Root is obtained thru a custom recovery, (example) TWRP or the other one..there is a specific TWRP version for the "falcon".. which the XT1028 is a "falcon" device..
You would no longer use the "stock" recovery..

Same as stock logo, from original firmware, Lollipop 5.0.2.

This is not the same as fix logo provided by MotoTools. This logo is extracted from Moto G (2nd Gen) stock firmware.

im guessing there is no way of getting rid of the "warning unlock bootloader" sign? before i relocked my bootloader i flashed the remove unlock bootloader warning.zip file and it worked, but after i relocked my bootloader the warning sign popped up again..
Try with Moto Tool AIO V3 (under Tools choose Fix boot logo)
Because, when you relocked, you probably flashed stock logo again... Try reflashing the custom logo.

@rafaelbrunner Did you tweak the bootlogo or did you simply extract the original non-unlocked bootlogo? If you tweaked the files yourself, what about doing a darker version? Rebooting in the night is a pain.

Thanks! I'd love to try it, but unfortunately the website keeps trying to download an .exe file.
Not that I'm concerned, that virus won't run on my Linux machine anyways. But could you upload the file somewhere else, like MEGA or Google Drive?
---------- Post added at 04:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:06 PM ----------
Edit: Managed to download the file now, nevertheless I'd recommend using a better file hoster next time. We don't want to spread malware on XDA, do we?
Edit: Thanks, nice boot logo! There's a small red border around the M, do you think you can fix that?
Also, include the logo into your OP, I am sure many people would prefer a dark one over a white one.

You need to replace the AMXPR firmware with your region one. Copy paste modem and sfg.bin from your firmware to the modem folder also. And it works.

When replacing files with the ones from your region pay attention if your firmware system image files are sparse chunks or system.img if the latter edit script and delete all "fastboot flash.... sparsechunk.x" commands there are 5 from 0 to 4 and add this one instead "mfastboot flash system system.img" and save it.

Hi Omar04,
The rom "NIIBR_XT1097_4.4.4_KXE21.187-30.3_cid12_CFC.xml.zip" works on a Moto X 2014 2nd generation BRAZIL? If this works, I need to do something else at the time of flashing the rom? Thanks.

AFAIK you can use any Moto X 2nd Edition Brazil or XT1095 ROM as long as you use the correct baseband.
Thanks
How can I modify the procedure to work on Wind Mobile version of the phone from Canada.

@Beast11
There's also numerous stuff in the att 1097 thread and the telus 1097 thread. I'm on telus and followed this guide. Super easy. Just time consuming

You can use it on any Moto X 2nd Edition device you only need to replace AMXPR folder contents with your carrier firmware files. And put a copy of your carrier firmware modem files on the modem folder to replace with yours too.
Pay attention to firmware if it's using system as sparsechunks don't need to edit batch.

Will this work for Moto z force, xt-1650
I flashed manually with mfastboot command, many thanks And root works fine. Now i have a issue, when i try to flash boot.img and recovery.img command promp says boot.img and recovery.img are not signed or corrupted, i don't know if thaT matters when i try unlock my phone to use it with other carriers. Cause when i insert a other carrier sim, the phone ask me for a pin of unlock of sim.

Does not matter. It just a prompt.
Thanks for the answer. I know this off topic but, you know how I can use my phone with sim of any company without the phone ask me unlock pin? I remember in my previous moto x, was enough unlocking the bootloader but, now is not working.

Will this work on the verizon moto z play?

Not at all... for minimum two good reasons:
1) Moto Z Play is a different smartphone from this one (Griffin... Moto Z!)
2) All Verizon versions have unlockable bootloader I think...
So since I have verizon, I'm guessing this wont work for me?

it did not work for me, Verizon Moto Z.
I think we need the bootloader unlocked to flash a custom recovery

What do you mean it won't work for you? This is for Moto Z (Griffin).. which is the Moto Z phone on Verizon. So it should work!.. It probably won't work for the Moto Z Force... or am I missing something? Sorry I'm a bit new to Moto Z.

I have a Moto Z XT1650 from Best Buy on the Verizon network
I tried AP Fastboot and the file said it didn't match or could not be verified.
On my AP Fastboot Screen it says under
Product/Variant: sheridan XT1650-01
did I maybe get a bad download of the TWRP.img file?

Sheridan is Moto Z Force, not Moto Z which is Griffin, so the official TWRP is not compatible since it has been released for Griffin only.
More, Verizon versions, to date, can't be rooted or use TWRP since the not unlockable bootloader...
My Moto Z is not the force model

When I received the OTA updates the files names had Griffin in them.
I was just saying in the above post that on my Fastboot Flash Mode screen it says
Battery OK
oem_locked
connect usb cable, etc
it also has a line that says
Product/Variant: sheridan XT1650-01
go to your AP Fastboot Flash Mode screen and tell me what it says under Product/Vatiant
Just saying......
I could be wrong... I understood that vanilla Moto Z was named Griffin and Force one Sheridan... BUT after that I've found some sites that use the codename Sheridan for both models...
Only one thing is sure at the moment... Play version is Vertex!
I still don't have a Moto Z... I'm waiting for the 64GB Rose Gold one...
What boot.img is used in this rom? Stock or modified? the modified one that have no forceencrypt.
