It's just a camera , not consider it more
even new updates come nothing would change just some UI or performance or maybe some new smart options for taking photos
Do you expect more than that?

I do like an update....
I was a bit miffed when the S4 was released with all the new fancy shooting modes and photosphere. I contacted Samusung UK who assured me that there is an update coming and wil more than likely include the latest settings. They'll probably tie it in with the latest version of Android.

i hope so.
and i expect a lot from samsung. they are going to release their galaxy nx device which will cost €1600 in belgium. it's the second camera device so they have to make something of it. the new one and the first on.

I have to agree with the OP.
I have had my camera pretty much from launch day so that's about a year. I love the camera and still maintain it takes great photo's and I have never regretted buying it.
But after all the hype I feel deflated that there has never been much in the way of updates, especially considering the sort of software enhancements that are now seen on the Galaxy Zoom, the S4 and the Note 3 camera. There are still a couple of annoying glitches with the camera that could be sorted with an update too.
But it seems that this product isn't in any way a priority for Samsung to develop further and there's little news about it in recent months around the web from anyone. There is no 4.3 update promised for example, even though older devices are being kept in the upgrade cycle.
It makes me feel sad that this premium product is a bit of an orphan of the storm. I look at these forums now and then in the hope that there is some good news.

I agree completely, the camera is fine as it is but it'd be even better if Samsung were to include some of the extra shooting modes, such as drama shot and an improved panorama mode.
Also, does anyone know if Samsung are planning on releasing a galaxy camera 2.0? I don't mean the NX, rather a newer improved point and shoot running android.

I could not agree more... it is not about modes for me... it is about use...
I use it daily, I even use it to text, surf etc... and it can get down right slow, non responsive..... it is suppose to be an S3 in theory... but it runs painfully slow at times. I always brag about it, show it off and people never even heard of it... but I think 4.2, .3... .4 would help it out...
I bought this from the UK a long time ago... with no real roms or updates in site?

ah yes

Well only the lack of updates bothers me - Samsung's now concentrating on its Zoom because it seems people love to talk on their camera phones so much, they're willing to live with 10x optical. Yep.
Samsung's customers aren't shutterbugs, they're smartphone and tablet users. Those come first. Any optical, xenon flash etc is just a bonus to them.
And even among the camera crowd, I bet other manufacturers are trusted more than Samsung.
I bet the Galaxy NX is just as likely to stagnate for the same reason, if its price point doesn't make the thing a non-starter first.
At least JB 4.1.2 is decent enough to be trapped in.

How about security updates...?

Zombie thread. Ressurected 3 years after going dormant.
Sent telepathically

I don't think Samsung will release a new update. They are too busy to launch a new device in EVERY SINGLE WEEK.

I loved my Galaxy Camera. Great innovation from Samsung when it was released but it was very expensive and so they didn't sell enough to develop it beyond v2 which really offered little in terms of an upgrade. I dabbled with K-Zoom for a few months but now have a respectable Sony Bridge camera and a Note 7.
Good to write on this thread again though!

shame on you Samsung!

Well.. yeah the galaxy is an awesome mobile phone, few doubts about it.
But why stall us all and delay the release of ICS? on december 2011 when I bought the note, I was told that the galaxy nexus has a better OS, but that Gnote should get it soon, therefore I bought it.
Having an outdated OS sucks, or at least it sucks when you expect it to actually update. Maybe nextime when we buy a phone we'll tell samsung that in q1 2012 we'll pay but delay them too.
Other than that, my screen has a decent scratch on it... but it doesn't really bother me, so much for gorilla glass.
Oh and with the new firmwares its impossible to record a call by using sanity. Those audio patches just silent the whole phone instead of allowing sanity to record.
i hope i wont get decent scratches on my gorilla glas :O
but u should be always know that samsung isnt the fastest in updating phones
when getting my galaxy s1 i got the update after 6 months promising that the update will come blabla..
i wont rely on samsungsupport anymore cous we have great developers bringing out better roms then samsung ever can!!

You must understand that its not just Samsung that controls the roll out of the updates, they have to coordinate with operators around the world to roll out any updates because of so much operator specific **** that comes along with the phones.
Yes, Samsung can do better but name one OEM who has done better? HTC? Sony (Ericsson)? Motorola? Its all the same in Android club, sir. Only if you have a Google AOSP phone, you can rely on fast updates.
Begs a question- All competing platforms are calculated and reserved with updates- Why does Google has to release one major
OS release every 6 months? Why can't they have consolidated single annual update cycles?
Anyway, you are at XDA- the motherlode! Why do you wait for official updates when there are several talented devs bringing you top notch releases before OEMs do. Just root it and forget it!

Having an outdated OS sucks,95% of android devices outthere actually run GB I wouldn't call tht outdated or at least it sucks when you expect it to actually update. Those are all beta, so not perfect
Ics makes a few tweaks thats all not end of the world so what we have to wait im sorry but the phones is excellent regardless its not like ics will make this phone earth shattingly better it will make stuff all difference in the long run.
I cant wait until they release ics. Because i promise you this we will see this type of thread disappear to be replaced with. "why did samsung release this when it has bugs" or "when do we expect jelly bean" or " "Now we have ics do you think samsung will abandon the note with jellybean"
Im sorry to be negative but the note forum has jsut turned into a whinging forum.
Maybe mods could set up a vent your rant thread as not to over inflate this forum any more than it is

What does ICS really bring to the table that most note users will really need?
The majority of users are not the ones that frequent XDA. The majority of users
just use the phone as a phone, email & internet device.
The "1%ers" try to squeeze every little bit out of it.
I use around 2400 minutes a month on the phone, 2-300 text messages & around 100-200 emails. No games, no huge amount of data. Maybe 1-2 gig per month.
Personally, I'm holding off on ICS until it's been "official" for a few weeks.
GB is tweaked to the point, at least on my device, that it is fast & stable.
You know ICS will need a few revisions before it is really as stable as GB.
If it wasn't for the "1%ers", I doubt these devices would be as good as they are, but, for the majority of users, I just don't see ICS being that big of a deal.

Hey friedje you're so smart... luck must have sent me here to be enlightened by your ingenious comments.
Let's just review your comments the same way you reviewed mine ok?
1.Never buy something for what it might become-wow! I am really thrilled and honored to see such an amazing sentence, too bad its meaningless. Never buy something for what it might become? *cough* BULL****. An update was supposed to be released by now, an update which is considered to be a cornerstone of android's development, or briefly speaking -a major change to the device.
2.95% of androids run gingerbread, perhaps you're right.. can't tell by the way you pull wisdom out your sleeves but.... galaxy note isn't just a normal android device. If I'm not wrong its Samsung's flagship phone, its pricey.. and promising.
3.That scratch doesn't really bother me... I'm honest. I just wanted to comment on the durability of the gorilla glass, or in fact about the allegedly scratch resistant screen that galaxy note has.
But other than that, nice to see that you blindly stick to your galaxy note, and how certain you are that it is flawless. If I had a company or a business I'd be looking for a worker\customer like you to blindly follow me too.
edit:
sorry I forgot to thank you for pointing out that "Samsung doesn't give credit". Did someone say smart-ass?
peace
OMG not again... just install a custom rom and enjoy ICS. There are a few that are quite stable with S Memo working....
More *****ing and pissing and moaning I see hey? There are LOTS of these threads already so please stop flooding the board with this OVER AND OVER again!!!
Yet another "fkn samsung where's my update" thread... can't you people just wait a month more ? It's just a software update, it's not like your phone is useless without ICS...
Samsung said you will get ICS and you will, Gorilla said the glass is scratch resistant and it is.
So...You are waiting for ICS and you have discovered scratch resistant is not the same as scratch proof.
You seriously need to lighten up.. its a phone dude, not life and death

Support for Android 3.x and 4.x apps. DriveMount really cool thing. With DosBox Turbo you can play DOS games with USB or Bluetooth mouse at ICS. And many more 3.x and 4.x great apps...
New many awesome settings, like "Hovering pen icon". It's amazingly cool helping feature, I really like it! Of cause other functions like "Force GPU rendering" and other from Android 4 also very helpful. Windows and transition animation scale settings will make a pleasant view for menus and other animations...
Also ICS is incredibly smooth!
I hope someone will fix Tablet mode for samsung stock ICS roms. AOSP good, but it kills many Note features, like stock camera, hovering pen icon, s planner, s memo and other samsung good things...
you know what? I take it back. both the hostile replies against friedje and the whining about not having ICS.
I was just in a mood to express my opinion after logging in every few weeks to check for an update.
all the best everyone!

Yes, what a bunch of cry babies. Nothing except google branded phones get updates for crap. This should be common knowledge for anyone on XDA.
OTOH, CM9 is running FLAWLESSLY for me. I don't care about FM radio and w/e the other missing things is, whoopdeedoo.
And screen protectors must cost as much as a phone the way people don't wish to protect a 600 dollar device. Where is the sanity? Not in this solar system.

It's still there, but it's nowhere near as bad.
I feel like the biggest reason we haven't seen the update is simply incorporating the driver's for the S-Pen and it's related things. Also the Galaxy Note runs at a unique resolution compared to everything else so that will cause some differences. If you've used any of the leaks they're pretty close, but they're still far from what I would consider something that should be released for everyone. I went back to CheckRom for my Note and for GB it runs really good. I was using CM9 which ran great, but I missed having the SPen and related apps as that was part of the reason I got the note. I would love ICS to be released right now, but even with GB the Note is still by far the best phone I've used. I love using my Note with Gingebread and Touchwiz more than using my Galaxy Nexus with 4.0.4

after galaxy note you will buy any Samsung mobile phone?

after galaxy note you will buy any Samsung mobile phone?
Seeing how the note is my third Sammy, probably. Not.a fan of Samsung's plastic choices but hardware wise, I like them.
depends on whats available at the time
My last Samsung here. The updates are so slow. It is like running Gingerbread back from the 1920s. There is no excitement with my device. I know some of you are iPhone haters but at least they can update and release new features in one day. Google need to smack Samsung down a little.
Yes I will - Note II / Note Plus
Samsung has always managed to appeal to my design sense and build pretty neat hardware into their phones. I've had a D900, U600, (LG KU990 in between here) Omnia II, SGS and now the Note. The D900 was a fantastic looking, robust little phone which I still have, and the U600 was pretty much the same but with a redesign and a spec bump so I had that as well. Omnia II was my first taste of smartphones and I loved it. Once Android took off in a big way, I hopped on and haven't been disappointed since.
The Note is great. Beautiful screen, massive battery and runs like butter. The new HTC OneX looks cool and comes pretty close to ticking all my boxes but the S-Pen was the clincher. I scribble faster than I can type and I have a screen of S-Memos to remind me about everything from shopping lists to memos to breathing in and out.
The delays on ICS have been a downer but GB still runs great and as a device, still goes on well. Samsung is making up for it by giving us a premium suite of features which weren't even on the radar when I bought the device so I'm not going to complain. So... Note 2? Yes please.

Hehe, and most things apples patches do is stop jailbreak..
Not to big things in the small ones they send out, and 4s still have crappy battery even if they say they working on it..
Not a iPhone hater here tho, gf have one and even my daughter as they are very simple and child friendly..

Samsung is great compared to Dell. The Note has only been out 5-6 months. Took Dell over a year to update the Streak5 from 1.5 to 1.6 (Froyo). I don't think there has been a GB update for Dell Streak5. If Sammy is faster than a year, they're doing great! Which other Android manufacturer updates more quickly?
Besides, GB is working quite well IMHO. And the Note is well made and everything seems to work! I'm in for the next round.

Of course this is your personal opinion and it´s absolutely okay to think like this...but people have to face the fact, that ICS isn´t THE invention of the century, it is more like a small update that makes it possible to install the apex launcher (and some small more stuff ). And beside this, I do not know any manufacturer that provides faster updates to their users (ignoring apple for a moment).
The Note as well as the S2 are two MONSTERS of devices! An incredible camera, snappy/fast/smooth, resistant and even with GB they are still the headliners on the market. Ignoring some apps, there´s nothing to miss atm, it is more about nerdy minds to always be on the newest trip. And: We bought a GB device, so they don´t owe us anything.
BTW: Just check the S2 user com...e.g. the quality of the cam got worse with ICS...and as a matter of fact I do not know ANY smartphone with ICS that beats the S2/Note cam quality atm. I want a device that is WORKING and that delivers some functions which I can really USE within the day. And that´s exactely what samsung delivers imao...
So in my case: Yes, i will stay with samsung...
after my current note, next one will be maybe galaxy s3, if it wont give me satisfaction, will be waiting for note 2 : )
Samsung are making good handsets lately, but I have learnt one important lesson here with my first Samsung Phone ever:Get your bread direct from the Bakery !!.
Meaning,it is always a wise decision to get your phone from a dedicated manufavturer, not from some company who beeing busy in making washing machines,TVs cameras etc..have no time left to support certain devices.
last three devices are all samsung. I have htc work phone which i hate.
I want a phone that works and will last long enough for me to sell on fleabay. I couldnt care less regarding the operating system i.e GB and ics, aint the end of the world at all,
Take a look at Asus and the transformer, they update faster than anyone great huh, hmmm shame about the hardware. As they say you can polish a turd but its still a turd.
Give me solid hardware at a good price, and thats what samsung nail every time
Bring on note2... Can't wait til October... Bring it...

And whats wrong with HD2,I have been using it for the last 3 years now and is still working like a Swiss watch,I have flashed at different times many OSs on it,just changed back to WM from Miui's ICS,sorry if I offend anyone here but being a 78 years old veteran I bear a special affection at my heart for the WM.
Damn,my wife's Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G is still on Honeycomb 3,1 while my son's have been updated to 3,2 months ago!! and when side by side you can easily observe how inferior the former is in comparison.
I had a couple of Htc smartphones, then an S2, and now the Note. Hated the Htc's, loved the S2, and like the Note even more. So my next phone will probably be the Note 2, unless somebody comes up with something like the Note but better.
Sent from my GT-N7000
Meh...maybe...
The thing is, the Note is a beautiful phone and i would have bought it no matter what company made it. This is my first sammy phone and it could be the first of many or the last one. As long as the community on xda is strong and the phone itself is amazing i couldn't care less about the company. I have to say though, Samsung has come pretty dam far in the last few years, its unbelievable.
For me, it really depends on how Samsung handles this whole broken-kernels-that-destroy-eMMC fiasco.
If Samsung remains silent on the issue, the Note will likely be my last Samsung device. If another broken kernel manages to get through testing and is officially released (see the SHW-M250S/K/L sources), the Note is guaranteed to be my last Samsung device.
While I don't like their hardware design, nor do I like their historical track record, Sony's recent history of developer support has been highly commendable, and if Samsung keeps blowing it with regards to their total noncooperation with developers, I'll be making the jump with my next device.
Yes, and to be more specific, i will wait for Note 2. I was a HTC fan but, lately, it did not impress me. HTC ONE x , because it uses tegra 3, it is a flop, in my opinion, inefficent and power hungry CPU, no were near Exinox refinament. Samsung offers something witch is crucial for me.. good low light video camera (no ghosting) and USB OTG.
Samsung make good phones overall. Nobody makes a perfect device. Just levels of tolerances that one accepts. I have had 2 other Samsung phones and they were excellent, really excellent. Tbh whilst I want ICS I couldn't care that much since ginger bread is stable. And I prefer stable over everything else.
I probably won't be getting another phone until my Note dies - I love it that much. If Sammy are still top of the heap by then I will probably go the Sammy route again.
I also don't really understand the whole 'Samsung lied to us stuff'. I've struggled to find anything from Samsung that said they'd deliver ICS on the Note by the end of Q1 2012, everything I've found is hearsay or relating to Samsung devices generally (i.e. We'll start rolling out ICS updates in Q1.)
Well they haven't lied. The SGS2, the phone with the largest user-base was updated first... And the phone with all the extra complications of a screen approx four times the size and with a stylus, etc has been delayed. Not a surprise to me - only to those who bought a device with one OS version thinking it would have another IMMEDIATELY!
Its not even like ICS is much better... I flashed ICS Stunner and within a week I was back on stock GB. ICS offers a few good touches (bookmark sync, slightly better UI performance, data usage limits, face unlock (which p***ed me off mo end), etc) but basically its still Android and we've already got that.

S IV coming

Samsung is planning S IV to roll out in April 2013 possibly with unbreakble screen. Other features 13 mp camera picture density 441 ppi.(times of India Banaglore edition dated 7Dec2012, page18). So Note 3 may roll out in 4th quarter 2013 for which I am waiting, by that time my note 1 will be around 2 years old and I could willfully sell or give it to a family member. I think most of you will do the same thing, I shall catch up you guys there.
PS: I do not want to miss this crowd.
The best thing to do is buy one every two galaxies. I have an S2 and I'm gonna get an S4, S6 and so on.....
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I think I'm gonna jump ship to the Sony Xperia Yuga,if it comes out......with cyanogenmod leaving the Galaxy and Note lines(unless Sammy decides to scrap the Exynos SoC.....which,lets face it, is not gonna happen) and Sony offering full GPL compliance(read: almost all source code is released), I'm thinking about the Yuga.
Doesn't matter about the S-Pen, don't use it anyways; just bought the phone for the screen size and a .3" decrease doesn't seem that much different to me.

Brickbug, no source code released despite numerous promises, CM team moving out of Samsuck development.
While we all (read I) appreciate what the CM team and team Hacksung may have done, lets face it, they are a minuscule minority to Samsung. CM also does not offer anything revolutionary over what a standard device can do, (OK, so maybe the code and is cleaner and there's less bloat, but its just as easy to remove the bloat from TW), and in terms of the Galaxy note, it actually takes away some of the most useful parts.
99% of users never even root their devices, and for them, the Brickbug does not exist and never has.
It's hardly a good reason to never use another Samsung device...Especially since they really are ahead of the curve at this point.
Just my opinion.

The simple fact is we arent part of the 99% that never root their phones. We are the ones who enjoy the freedom of customizing every little aspect and squeezing every ounze of performance out. Some (like myself) can't stand touchjizz and to say that cm doesn't offer anything revolutionary is plain ignorant. The fact that Samsung isn't keeping the promises they make and continues to string us along is disgusting. I was a Samsung fanboy for years but after this ordeal I won't be buying another Samsung phone until they get their act together. Maybe cm is a miniscule minority to Samsung but there are still thousands of us who come here, to xda, to tweak, tinker and get the most out of our devices and cyanogenmod plays an enormous role in that. As xda members we look for devices with dev support, you can have the most high end phone in the world but if the devs aren't given what they need from the manufacturers then what's the point in even being here? You might as well become an iSheep. I am another who will be picking up a Sony yuga unless Samsung has their **** sorted by the time they release the gs4. +1 with not getting another Samsung. The Note will be my first and last Samsung phone.
I'm so grateful for the devs that have made my Note worth having, if it wasn't for them I would of upgraded a long time a go.

I don't care about brand. Only real estate. The next 5.3 to 6 inch screen phone with up to par technology is getting my money.
For the record, the Note looks terrible and build quality is even worse. I didn't buy a note 2.
The market is improving too fast these days.. Barely have time to catch up tiwht the bandwagon!

Wouldn't this be more suitable in the S III forum? I don't care one bit, since I bought the Note for the screen size.
If S IV has the flexible 5" screen I'm jumping straight.

Like you said. Every odd number note is best to buy Like note1, note3, note5 so on...
Probably going to skip Samsung next time if Sony will continue their pro-development policy with Xperia Yuga phone. Don't get me wrong, CM10 runs great on my Note, but it's not nice to know some bugs will probably never be fixed because Samsung didnt keep their promise about releasing sources AGAIN. And since i hate TW-based roms, i can't stick with stock.
Anyway, Sony's TimeScape ( is this what it's called ? ) Android mod is probably the best non-aosp android build...
Well Samsung works for me. I had to root GS2 for regional font support and print screen. In GNote, I ran stock unrooted for 6 months as all that I needed were already there. Then I started exploring and flashed several ROMs. Some which are closest to Nexus version have everything in white background (eye straining). Some do not support SPen. Some had more annoying bugs than Samsung stock. So finally back to stock TW and TW is blessing. If I buy Galaxy Nexus, I will want to flash TW. When OS starts to reach maturity, having latest OS is not always required on the first day. For example - we can almost run everything in Windows XP, the same has started to hold true in Android too. And SPen is blessing, it has saved me borrowing pen from waiter and draw quick diagrams on tissue paper dozen times.

I'm waiting for Durex 4 to be delivered.

Anyone else had enough of Samsung

Ive been with aamsung since the s3 days. Before i was a sense guy for the longest. Now with samsung waiting ages to release lollipop for a phone that cost me almost 900$ im almost fed up and really want to go another route next time i buy a phone..
Buy a Nexus then and enjoy beta testing? Getting any update is a crapshoot for pretty much any other OEM and varies from phone to phone...
$900. You got ripped off. LoL
Sorry man, just because they don't give your phone an update is not justice to say off with your head. They did not leave you with a broken non functioning phone. Whats next are we gonna put together a class action lawsuit. I still say samsung always has had the best hardware when it comes to phones. That's what intrigued me was the hardware not android. I used to be an HTC guy too back in the day. I switched because samsung phones always outperformed the HTC. This is still true to this date. If you mad cuz they haven't updated to lollipop, well that is just crazy.
I love Samsung, in fact most of my electronics are Samsung....no issues what so ever. FYI....I would've paid $900 with no problem, but it didn't cost no where near that.
Why r u so worried about getting lollipop? It's pretty crappy still. I have 5.0.1 on my Shield tablet it's got a bunch of weird bugs. I also have 5.0.2 on my nexus 5 and it's a piece of shirt now because of it.
Sometimes it's not best to be first. If you want lollipop so bad flash an AOSP ROM and deal with all the bugs just like everyone else is.
I have no issues with house this phone runs on TW. It's way better than either of my Lollipop devices.
The grass always looks greener. But tbh lollipop I'd looking like a huge fail. Hopefully 5.1 will fix a bunch of issues.

If you want the fastest updates, get a Nexus. If you want spectacular hardware and a polished looked, keep your Samsung.
So is there a magical bug that makes every OEM skinned device a brick when Google releases a new version of android? Is your phone somehow less useful?
Am I the only one who is not anxious for lollipop to drop? I'm perfectly happy with kit Kat at the moment. It was a different story from Gb to ICS back in the Galaxy S2 days.

Agreed. Nexus 7 and Shield Tablet. Lollipop is a complete mess. I can't believe they released it at all so far. Disappointed.

Sigh, some folks get so dramatic over things. Outside of Nexus devices, other OEMs are not significantly different than Samsung. A month or two either way doesn't change the lifetime enjoyment of a device.
Would you rather have a device with an inferior screen, no S-pen, lesser performance, less functionality, a worse camera, etc? The Note 4 has been tops since it was released and will be top dog until the new phones come out at MWC.
Also - Samsung is updating the Note 2 with Lollipop- that's 2.5 years after release. Have other OEMs committed to updating their phones from 2012?
Well let's see. I've been a fan of amhung since the captivate days(galaxy s series)so that pretty much makes me a die hard amhung fan. Will I choose a different brand phone? Probably not. ?

I love Samsung products. I've become a little bored with there design philosophy but as a whole I think there as good as it gets. I personally could careless how long it takes for the update as long as everything works like it's supposed to and as of right now it does with KitKat. Like others said, there have been a lot of bugs with LP so far and I'm kind of glad there taking there time instead of rushing it and needing to push several updates. If they were to push it and things were messed up, most of the people complaining about it taking so long would then complain about that.
And then when we finally get Lollipop there will be 20 threads about how bad/buggy it is and a bunch of people constantly asking how to flash back to KitKat.
I am using my iPhone 6+ until lollipop is released.

I don't get all the hate on lollipop. I have it on my N7, had it before my One M7 GPE died and tried it on here. It ran perfect and lag free for me.
However I just enjoy the fingerprint scanner, the full S Pen functions and the one hand use features.
Also WiFi calling is a must for me at work right now.
Post started by someone who once they receive the update will also have something to complain about.

So you blame Samsung for not getting Lollipop already? Samsung released Lollipop for most of the international phones http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/910f-official-lolipop-germany-dbt-t3029508 just an example...perhaps you should find out what is the hold up from your carrier trying to stuff T-Mobile bloat onto Samsung's existing release or any other US Carrier for that matter.
I kn I w its not all samsung but i don't think its fair thst we buy their latest flagship than become last in line to receive the new OS.
Life isn't fair. Nothing is promised to you and Note 3 and S5 users bought the latest flagship before you..

We better get LG V10's software improvements or I'm done with LG

I'm tired of this planned obselesence bull. It has the same exact camera. If I don't see high bitrate 4k, 60fps 1080p, and manual video control I'm done. Furthermore, I better not see any UI improvements that won't be present on the G4 in a near future time.
If they do any of this nonsense on a year old, marketed, FLAGship, I'm finished. At that point I'll know the path they are taking with their phones and what they think of their consumers.
I see what you mean but we live in such system, now more than ever, programmed obsolesence is the first reason phone's are sold. We can't do nothing really, what we can do is stopping buying but no one will do that because for one that not buy there are millions that buy, try to port features or just use alternative apps.
Yep, then don't buy. Vote with your wallet, eventually these companies would understand why their sales are dropping. I've already sold my LG G4
I jumped ship this evening and ordered the 6P. I've had several awful days of lock ups, lag, bad touchscreen response, weird graphic glitches, etc. Just done.

Hmmm.. An open conversation between developer and consumer? At least with Google, you KNOW you have at least a year before they will release their next flagship. I bought the G4 and LITERALLY the next day the V10 leaks started! Also... frequent updates without carrier bs (I'll never forget the update I got on my last phone.. when everyone else was getting Lollipop, AT&T pushed out an update that installed UBER and AT&T Live on my damn phone lol). The Nexus will have a vibrant developer community that isn't hobbled by locked bootloaders and carrier restrictions, and a Fingerprint scanner to name a few. But, the G4 does have some features that I don't think you'll find on the 6p! Namely, horrible touch-screen response, lag that appears out of nowhere, a plastic back that can get so hot I'd swear it was metal. Sorry for the pessimism but this is only my 2nd Android phone and I'm batting 0/2 as my first was the AT&T variant of the Galaxy S5 (RIP Safestrap!) and I'm done with this crap lol. As soon as possible, I'm hitching my horse to a Nexus and never looking back! PS I forgot! The 6P has that giant Cyclops eye on it's backend! Also, having said all that, the developers that are working here on the G4 are amazing! The fact that they've been able to do what they have despite the restrictions is awesome!
I will definitely miss the manual camera, I think LG did a great job with that, and I'm disappointed that Google has not included manual settings in the stock camera. But there are other manual camera apps for that. I've been hunting down camera comparison shots for weeks, looking to see that the 6P can hold it's own, and I'm confident in all the test shots I've found. It's less a question on what the 6P has than what it DOESN'T have. I have reached the end of my patience with the bad performance of the G4 that I'm willing to lose some (if any) camera quality to gain stability and reliability. It's true that you gain a thriving development community with Nexus, but the development on the G4 didn't bother me to begin with. I'm perfectly happy with just root! It's a shame, because I had a G3 which I loved.

I've said this for years xD I'm no longer buy Apple devices or Samsung devices. I'm only left with LG, Sony and the smaller brands. Haha.
Every company does this, so, if this happens now, I won't have another LG. These companies just keep trying to sell more and more phones every year.
I'm also crossed that LG doesn't allow longer exposures for third party apps so you don't have 30 sec. exposure times.
I must say that from all the brands. I was the most satisfied with HTC. (had One M7). Good updates, has google play edition. Awesome policy. Too bad that when G4 came out you really didn't have a good camera phone except it and S6.
Too bad, the companies are shifting to this practice. As @Mad_Duke said the HTC M7 was the phone I liked the most (except for the camera). For the past 1,5 years I owned Sony (Z3), OnePlus (One), Samsung (S6/920F) and now the G4. I have to say that Oneplus was the most satisfying overall. All big names are unfortunately doing their own practices to sell more phones. Sony was slow at releasing 5.0 (and when it got released it was a "crippled" update), Samsung puts too much bloat and do not release the full documents for the Exynos, thus the development is slow. So far LG is kind of OK, at least you can flash some of the updated apps. However, if you want the fastest and most developed phones, you have to go with Nexus (or OnePlus like) devices.
I kinda expected manual camera for g3 when g4 came out. However, seeing a reality of thos bussiness I can see why they need to constantly shell out new products and plan the software obsolence of the older ones - because market (all of us) demands it. We need new models, company just cant sell same phone for 2 years and just shell out the updates (even with nexus5 we started demanding new models).
Vallet voting, just that.
I hope your post is a joke!
I had Nexus 4 before, and even if it was a Google device,I never had manual camera(with third party App),HDR+ or other improvements.
The same is happened with Samsung,Sony and Apple.
So what are we talking about?
If you want devices that has improvements in camera you should buy a Windows Phone.
After updates, even Lumia 520 has Manual Camera.
What a stupid thread
I have had marshmallow since day one ableit custom rom
Unlocked bootloader h815
Lg are a business in a cut throat market with so much choice for the consumer
You cannot live without the extra features? Wow lol
Imho its the best phone of 2015
Wow... just wow. Some of you guys are expecting waaay to much. It's not like other companies/phones bring all the latest **** to their older phones. The V10 has extra hardware to make some of the new video features work, so no, you probably won't get these features.
Also, LG is the first non-nexus to update to marshmallow but for some this still isn't fast enough. They offer fine support for this phone, realize normal consumers don't care if updates like these take longer (see Samsung) but LG is offering it way faster anyway.
The G4 looks very attractive right now.
The v10 is bigger, in size. Great video if you need it.

S6 still does not have shutter control in the UI, the s6e+ & note 5 which came out only 3 months later have it.
S6 has raw and shutter in the api so if you use a 3rd party app you can use it but everybody wants to do this in the stock app.
The Z5 has shutter control, still no raw. Previous xperias have no shutter control because companies lock down the camera api to the point that the only reliable camera app you can use is the stock one.
So what are we talking about?

not really, the 930 languished for a couple of years after it launched. Its successor is two years late, the 950 but the OS is difficult to deal with without google services integration.
its true nokia camera interface is ahead of the curve and is available even on budget devices. But OIS, lens, bigger sensor and image processing requires more cpu is only present on higher end models. The 830 has ois. The 1020 can't do 4k.
G4 has been a POS since day one with the exception of the fantastic camera. I cannot believe that ppl are still here when you got phones like the Note 5 and 6P on the market. A removable battery and SD card slot does not solve lag and touchscreen issues....
