Samsung Galaxy Note III LTE = SnapDragon 800 - Galaxy Note II General

we've see in the news the South Korea only GS4 with the Snapdragon 800 beast
I hope Samsung release a 800 powered Samsung Galaxy Note III LTE in September :good:
Who else :highfive:

It's surely gonna be in the note 3.
unless there's a better one at that time

That's not entirely true, AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717 (not Internationa N7000) used a SnapDragon as described here:

ok, there has been a snapdragon dual core note.
The 3 kings of CPU the hill right now are
the LTE quad core Snapdragon's
600 as used in the LTE S4 i9505 and HTC one
800 beast as used in the South Korea only S4
and the
Non LTE Exynos 5 Octa 5410 8 core
I hope Samsung will put the 800 in the Note 3

My wife own a S4 (i9500) and never had a heating problem or any problem at all. Yes it's a little bit hot when the A15 kicks in for a long time but summer in Shanghai is really hot and nothing to freak out. I also sold a couple of them to people I know and none of them have issues. They all love it. I think you highly exaggerate when you say "lot of issues".

Note II/III LTE with Snapdragon 800
I am purchasing the note III that will have the Snapdragon 800!!! I Want it!
I for one would love to see a note II ( a 720p screen) & the snapdragon 800 paired together. Add a custom kernel to U.C. (& U.V. [ but not necessarily along with other performance tweaks]) to around 1.5-1.8Ghz from 2.2-2.3GHz and I believe we would have a device with a great balance of performance and even better battery life that the current Note II.
The Adreno 330 matched up with 2-3GB of ram would definitely handle the 720p resolution with amazing grace, completing task and powering down quicker than the Adreno 320 even in Multi-view. For game play and performance, I will let you use your imagination but I am not referring to Words with Friends or Angry Birds.
I do not use S-Voice. Google Now is my preferred software of choice. I like to have a snappy UI (with great graphics, it is eye pleasing) and wish for even longer battery life when undergoing long periods of heavier use ie: 2.5hr of phone calls then; watching Netflix or a 720p film/tv episode from my sd card while responding to 20-30 mssgs/emails; an hour of HD game play and then video chat before going to bed. I travel often, can you tell? Let us not forget about constantly web browsing to search for the latest updates on S800’s/platforms power draw.
Look, we cannot have everything that we want, trade-offs are inevitable. A Beast of a phone/phablet that can handle the next 2 OS upgrades is what we all are praying for. I’m saying I would love that balance and think others would too. A Snapdragon 800 clocked up to 1.72-1.78Ghz in a note II with S-Voice wake commands disabled should have a comparable UI experience, if not slightly better, compared to the current NII’s and hopefully improved battery life.
Once again, I know this is about the Note III - please no flaming I am purchasing the note III that will have the Snapdragon 800!!! I Want it!
I an thinking of (min/max increase to) 1.5-2.5days of battery life on moderate to heavy use... am i the only one thinking that could be possible using a 720p screen? ... because i do also want the Adreno 320 GPU higher off-screen capabilities for presentations & gameplay
I know,... i do want it all but who doesn't... but what do you think about the 720p idea?

New octa would be better than S800 imo.

Anything above 300ppi is wasted on normal eye from more than 10cm, from more normal 25cm, 240ppi is more than enough. I have note 2 and lenovo k900, side by side from normal distance I can see no difference in black text on white screen quality (white on black is better on Lenovo, that is true). So it would be nice, but by no means a dealbraker for me

Who says 300 is perfect? I was at the local o2 shop and played with a s4 and was amazed at the screen. Ever since Apple started this retina display I always wanted that in our devices. With a 1080p on 5.7 inch it's gonna be just awesome to read and play on the note 3.
Seriously try out the s4 and see how well the text looks.

I say it's perfect. I have both to compare as I wrote @5.5 inch 720p and 1080p are almost indistinguishable from normal use distance. You say it's not, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Unless you put your nose almost to the screen you won't see any difference. Of course, given chance I would take FHD but to pay premium for it? No way Reading books - I do it every day on Note 2, playing games - with current GPU it would be suicide to try FHD gaming @ full details. Note 3, whatever they put in it will have to be much faster to handle FHD, the only reason I'm happy about that is because I will use MHL to play on my TV and then it will finally use full resolution. Other than that FHD on screen this size is useless, companies have limited numbers to compete with, so they up the display resolution (putting further strain on battery because higher res requires faster GPU and CPU to drive it well) or camera megapixels.
It drives my all the closer to switching to Chinese phones - 1/2 the price, almost the same hardware - you can get Note 2 lookalike (although with MTK CPU, but almost equal in speed) for about 300$, of course, no SPen, but that was only an example.
Oh, and you get FHD display that you like so much

I have a feeling that Samsung should use this in the tab 8.9/10.1. Tegra 2 does not sound very good now.
I heard the Mali GPU is more optimised for HD video rather than 3D gaming.

Bad news, the new series of the galaxy tab line have tegra 2 not Exynos chip. It was rumored that Samsung couldn't make them in time so had to use nvidia's. We should be grateful that europe got it for our SGSII's.
P.s because of this I'm not buying a galaxy tab, and getting the ipad instead.

That's what I am hearing too. Not too happy about it. I will wait till they ramp up the production and use it in the Tab. 8.9 sounds just about perfect for me. Or maybe I will wait till Sammy comes out with their next gen Mail-604 which should be around the corner. It's said Sammy was the first to get the license and started working on it in 2010 itself. By that time I am sure honeycomb/ice cream would have been optimized and a good collection of apps to play with.
Android OS versions are different ?
Think the sgs2 1gb ram plays a factor in 1080 playback over the optimus 512mb
I can't wait to get this phone
The Tegra Chip and Mali have about the same performance.
We just have hardware acceleration enabled in the galaxy S 2 browser rendering and in the touchwizz 4.0 home.
Can somebody try launcherpro with animated wallpaper and touchwizz with animated wallpaper, and see if there is jerkyness with the touchwizz home ?
if you read up on a phone's specs before you buy it then this should be no suprise to you
The chipset is far superior to that of tegra specifically at video decoding / playback etc, you only need to view the complaints and grumblings on the tablet forums to know tegra is feeling to meet expectations. This is why I plumped for the S2 over the 2x.
They forgot to mention that the 2x has a special Comic mode for youtube vids, and that it was activated.

This is going to smother the LG O2X. Samsung plans on controlling the market for high end androids and it looks like its going to succeed by having a galaxy at every possible pricepoint.
Why would you hesitate as its not as good as the s2, dual 1ghz, 720p recording, no s-amoled screen and 8gb storage seems to be a more entry level version than anything else.
Tegra 2 beats Exynos once all the variables are similar.
~4000 quadrant stock and still clocked lower.

Tegra 2 clocks higher (faster clock vs clock), more optimized applications, other Tegra 2 devices are recording in 1080p (so that would come in later update/mod), Super LCD is just as good if not better than Super AMOLED+ w/ no yellowing/uneven colors with better color accuracy (also it is a 24-bit screen vs 16).

If Tegra2 is entry level then damn we've come a long way in the past few months I know what you mean though. I'm a geek so it's no choice in my mind either, I'd still have bought the S2 if these two devices were released together. But if this is priced nicely it could reach a whole other group of consumers that the S2 was too rich for.

This means absolutely nothing. SGS2 can't go higher than 60fps, after all that's the screen refresh rate so anything higher is just a waste of battery. Now you might want to ask yourself why Tegra 2's fps limit is higher. Nvidia have been in the game a long time, they know how to cheat in benchmarks.
Besides you should compare benchmarks that pushes these phones, Quadrant is very flawed and afaik not even multithreaded. I managed to score 1700 with my old Legend with a 600 MHz ARMv11 CPU clocked to 786 and data2ext hack.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
quadrant standard isnt the best way to decide on the speed. Even some of our own rom devs for the s2 can cook a hack into the rom. I have already benched in the 4000's on the old lite'ning rom. Its not hard. BTW, tegra is nice and all because im an nvidia fan, but it is not better if you ask me-maybe once properly optimized it will be better for gaming, but i couldnt care less about ps1 graphics on a phone.

If they go for anything larger than the S3 they can forget about me buying that.
S3's size is utterly ridiculous (can't find many people who can 100% interact with it with only one hand), anything larger that that will be just sad.
Only thing left is to pray to the electronics god that Google makes their next Nexus in the size of the current one / S2's! can't imagine a better phone size, bigger than the tiny iPhone (yea, talking about the new fella) but easy to play with using one hand only.
if only the'll be able to also make it Super AMOLED Plus (like the S2's non-PenTile, but with S3's resolution).
S4 might not have a screen larger than S3 since the current size distinction gives proper difference between the S and Note lines. If size goes beyond 4.8 will impact sales of either of them.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
The more I use my S2..the more I feel it's the perfect size. I had a GNex for a bit and it was just a tad too wide. I think something the size of the s2 with a edge to edge screen would be great.
Yeah then we wait for the S5 next year :banghead: and S6 the year after that

S4? U kidding they have to dump a huge number of S3 into market.. After huge success of this they ll plan for S3 with Dual sim then when competitors move to hexa core or jump into 2GB RAM then they start S4 may be,,
My wishlist for S4-
1. Quad core 2GHZ preferably Tegra 3 .
2. 2GB RAM with nVidia GPU.
3. 4.3" Super AMOLED HD display with 720*1280 res (Enough )
4. Design of S2 is must( Best designed phone)
5. Aluminum casing for back cover with S logo.
6. 12 MP camera carl zeiss.. (Nokia Fan)

May I ask, why Nvidia GPU? I should say that most benchmarks say that our mali-400mp4 clocked at 266mhz is just as powerful as the full clocked tegra 3 gpu variant, plus we have a much lower resolution screen than any tegra 3 powered deice I have ever seen, meaning our device can end up playing better games that quite a few of the devices with the tegra chip in it. Like with full effects enabled on dead trigger, it is so much smoother than my nexus 7 with it's gpu overclocked from 416mhz to 520mhz. Personally I would take the overclocked 440mhz mali-400mp4 in the s3 anyday over any nividia GPU. Althoug, the gpu going to be used in some of the new exynos 5 chips which should power the s4, looks incredible.

If someone released a 4inch Nexus with good hardware and a solid build I'd be all over it like a rash.
Instead the phones are getting too big and too ugly. I've never had an iPhone but I can see the appeal. You invest in an iPhone 5 now and you're guaranteed long term software support and your device maintains its value. I'm sick of all these phones coming out that feel outdated and forgotten in 6 - 12 months. Who do you hear saying "don't buy an iphone 5 the iphone 6 is coming out next year".

I've already made my decision. My next phone will be a Nexus, period.
I could forgive the longer wait for updates, if I'd actually use them. At the moment the only reason I'm waiting for updates is because the cm team can make a proper one with those.
There is only one manufacturer that does great modifications to android, but those phones aren't available here. :'(

How about the performance of Exynos 5250?

Hi, guys. I am interested in N10,but I am very curious about performance of N10. I know Samsung use an dual core based at ARM15, but its screen has a high resolution 2560x1400. Is its dual core really capable of such a high resolution? How about the performance of multiple tasking? Any lag? My current cellphone is Galaxy Note 2 that has a quad core chip, but it is not as fast as what I thought until I flash 4.4.2 ROM. Tell me your experience of using N10. Your comment would really help me make a good decision. By the way, the main purpose is to internet bowersing and watch movies which store on portable HDD. Thanks

I have been running the Nexus 10 since it came out. No complaints here. I watch allot of Youtube video, news and sports videos, etc. Even runs better when I tether it off my 4G. Been testing latest 4.4.3 Roms available here at XDA. Not much difference over 4.4.2, runs good with either.
Good luck.
The cpu doesnt primarily drive the screen so it handles the big resolution screen very well. With browsing and watching movies its just fast. This thing is a beast when it comes to gaming because it has a kick ass gpu..

I agree with the two posts above mine. I've had this tablet for a few months, and never once has it felt slow or sluggish with anything I've thrown at it. This ain't your typical dual core. It's on par with my Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013).

Great!
Hi,
Not only what the guys said above, to power the screen resolution, the GPU has 1GB allocated to it since 4.3 if I'm not wrong. So it's quite capable, just be careful when using many apps, the RAM is limited to only 1GB due to it. Even though I'm able to play many games and watch full HD videos with ease and comfort .

The Nexus 10 is the best Samsung could do at the time it came out.
Somehow both Google and Samsung felt compelled at the time to deliver something that would beat Apple at least on paper.
Truth is, it's a somewhat unbalanced device by today's standards.
A typical competitor today would probably have a Qualcom Snapdragon 800 or better and you'd notice the difference!
Generally CPU performance is still quite ok: More than 2 cores rarely make sense and these ARM 15 cores tend to have enough oomph for the sort of things you'd run on a tablet CPU. And the Exynos seems to be a close match to the Snapdragon, core by core.
So there, for all practical purposes, it won't feel much slower than a modern devices.
But the GPU can't quite deal with the resolution and even if it could, DRAM bandwidth would be the next barrier. So when you look for 3D game performance, the Nexus 10 can't quite keep up with what is out there these days.
Depending on your benchmark it may feel like a dog, but good games tailer themselves to what's available and even some 3D ones are actually ok.
Mine's most used for reading books, surfing, perhaps even some video, I'm also doing some writing (with BT keyboard/mouse) on it and that's all more than ok, especially when you want to flip forth and back between lots of web-sites and programs.
I'd say when you can get the Nexus 10 for cheap it's still pretty good, when you're ready to pay prime dollar, you'll find better even from Samsung.

I'd say this is a pretty fair assessment. GPU struggles with some modern apps such as Google maps, and even now Chrome isn't the best. I still use browser because its much smoother, and I also use the 'performance' CPU governor which locks the tablet to 1.7ghz and really helps responsiveness.
That being said, its still a really really nice tablet generally. If you're getting it for a good price you should be happy enough. I still love using mine nearly 2 years after buying it, and I'm comparing it to my snap 800 powered XZU. Its still a really nice screen, really nice design. Quick enough and battery life is not too bad these days either! (6 hours SOT easy with brightness at 35℅)

[Q] Where should i buy my Galaxy s4, is galaxy s4 the best option ?

OK, i've been looking phones for days and 3 days ago i ordered a Galaxy s4 on Bestbuy for 500 $ ( tax included ).
I was going to buy a factory international unlocked verison on amazon for 350 $ ish , but i saw some bad reviews ( some say it's fake, some say it's refurbished ) and i decided rather just buy from bestbuy but it's been THREE days !!! they havent ship my phone yet.
Do you guys think i should just cancel the order and buy one from amazon or ebay for 350$, but i think those factory unlocked version doesn't have warranty at all !!
I need help !!
s4 its good phone u will enjoy:thumbup: and I always buy international version cos u get updates direct from samsung not from crappie networks

If possible I would say buy a Nexus 5. The S4 is on a slower cpu, and I doubt we will get anything past Android L. The Nexus 5 is a strong device for the price, plus you do get months faster updates. You will probably get a few more updates over the S4. Both have comparable on-screen times despite a slight advantage for the S4. But you can swap out the battery for say a Zerolemon which would give a clear advantage over the Nexus 5. The Nexus 5 should have android L before December. All in all, I'd say go for the newer Nexus 5 for the Snapdragon 800's advantage in raw horsepower for games and general use.
When it comes down to it though go with your gut feeling and what is more important to you.

How does 300mhz fast help.
"If someone helps, never forget to hit thanks ? "
Actually it's an extra 1600mhz total plus an upgraded gpu for better graphical performance, for a lower price. Plus in white it's sexy. I wish I would have gotten a Nexus 5 over the S4, but I was in need of a new phone.

Show me..all i can see is 2.3 vs 1.9 quad core.
Are you saying 400 for each core? :/ and thus 1600 difference?
21% times faster it is. Just that. I cant see how 1.9*121% make a difference.
And then what about the i9500? It has Octacore processor? Will you say it has 1.6*8? Lol.
And please dont forget the camera.

There's 4 cores that means 400mhz per core. Therefore it's an increase of 1600mhz.
Also since the chips are both 28nm and on the same architecture, you can compare the mhz. You can't compare the Exynos soc to a Snapdragon based chip because it's on a different architecture. It's like Amd vs Intel if you know those two.
Both cameras take good pictures. Not a huge difference between the two.

But still the aggregate increase remains 21%.
Maths aint that tough brother. we are talking the same thing.
21% faster with no ext mem support, no IR blaster and tons of other features go missing. And still the wide acceptance and reputation of the S4 stands strong.
Plus here in India the S5 is almost the same price of a nexus 32gb. Why would one go for a "nexus" in that case too.
Plus Why not buy the google play edition Galaxy S4?
Where is the difference now mate? Just a processor. Camera, build quality, vendor reputation.??
Plus a S4 is A S4. Comparing processing speeds of different processors is no harm. Why do people then compare apple with samsung? Apple is still a dual core with a 1gb ram. So why are they bashed for hardware. I havent seen an iphone lag. (exclude i4 i4s)

Stop guys, everyone comes here thinks "Damn, I came in a battlefield?" [emoji14]
Tastes are tastes, everyone of us has different tastes among all other... First, Nexus 5 is faster for CPU frequency and GPU is more powerful than S4 (talking about I9505 that beats i9500), S5 is faster than Nexus 5.
How many guys among you may use Nexus 5 at its higher CPU frequency? How many hours battery lasts?
In my opinion, I used a Nexus 5 (with CM11 as my S4) and found that I can't notice any speed difference in normal and heavy use between its 2.3GHz CPU and my S4 with this frequencies: 1 core 1.67GHz, 2/3/4 core 1.45GHz. Even in games, S4 can run any game for Android without problems.
What about Cameras? What about S4's AMOLED vs N5's LCD? What about display density? And IR blaster?
Nexus 5 is more brute force and developer-like, not the best for multimediality.
S4's cameras shoot definitely better, display is superior, has IR led built-in if you want to command your IR devices like televisions, air conditioners, set top boxes, xbox etc. And it's not all [emoji6]
I was almost selling my device to buy Oneplus One, but I can't because I love my S4 guys, it's too perfect in my opinion.
Don't do always and only the "run for GHz", think about everything else too
There are also tons of other things to say, but it's late here and I'm sleepy [emoji42]
