If you don't want to wait
I got it working on my Sprint s4
Here how's I got it to work
step 1: Download and Install Titanium Backup https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsImNvbS5rZXJhbWlkYXMuVGl0YW5pdW1CYWNrdXAiXQ..
step 2: Install APN Back and Restore https://play.google.com/store/apps/...estore&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
- Open Titanium Backup
- Go to backup/restore tab
- Find APN Backup & Restore on the list
- Long press on the app when you find it
- Select Convert to system app
- Open APN Backup & Restore
- Click menu and disable ICS check
Back up your APN backup.
Done
step 3: Download your Sprint s4 kernel
I only test Ktoonsez kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288309. so far
Step 4: Download the ROM (of course) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2319177
Step 5. Always do a NAND backup before flashing. Just in case, something goes wrong
Boot to recovery
Make an NAND Backup
Wipe the phone
Flash the ROM
Wipe Data
Flash your Sprint s4 Kernel
Reboot the phone
Going through the Wizard setup til you get an error. Can't connect to to network or something
Choose to Skip
Choose to connect to Wifi. Setup your Wifi
Login to your google account.
Go to PlayStore
Download Titanium Backup
Download APN Back and Restore
Toggle Data OFF if it turn on
- Open Titanium Backup
- Go to backup/restore tab
- Find APN Backup & Restore on the list
- Long press on the app when you find it
- Select Convert to system app
- Open APN Backup & Restore
- Click menu and disable ICS check
Restore your APN backup from earlier.
Toggle Data ON
Done
Enjoy!!

yea.. i asked virus and trevE and they are just waiting for aroma to work on the s4 and we should see it working on sprint soon!! man i cant wait for that! to have all the great roms devs on one rom and ziggy making the kernel is epic!!

Update
I got 4G LTE to work after first boot using the step I provide earlier but it will drop to 3g only once you restart your phone. You won't lose data but you won't have 4g LTE either. So if you don't mind about 3g. Then it's all good. Until someone can figure out how to bypass the error I got after rebooting. Look at the attachment

I went and froze all verizon stuff. Yes sir..thats what I'm talking about. Good job.

Can you tell me what phone(s) trevE and virus are on? TrevE helped with rooting the Evo 3D, iirc. And they were both working on the ROMs and kernels for the 3D. Did they move on to the Evo LTE? Thanks.

[Telus T959D Fascinate] - Successfully running DarkyROM 10.3, CWR, Voodoo and More!!

Hi guys,
I just wanted to share my experience and thoughts with everyone here in regards to successfully installing the DarkyROM 10.3 on my Telus Galaxy S Fascinate (T959D).
I have always had troubles finding information on Custom ROMS, Kernels and hacks that would work with my Fascinate SGH-T959D. So I ended up taking a leap of faith and figured I would try one of the I9000 ROMs out there.
** By no means is this a guide **
Installation Process:
IMPORTANT: Before upgrading to Darky 10.2 EE, make sure you either restore to factory setting OR uninstall any third party applications you may have installed from the market before you upgrade to Darky 10.2.
I started out by the following process to install DarkyROM 10.2 Resurrection GT-I9000 from the following source:
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/odin-darkyrom-10-2-resurrection-gt-i9000.4272/
I used ODIN3 and flashed everything necessary for the upgrade and lucky everything went well. I then downloaded and installed the DarkyROM app from the Android Market. (New Android Market by the way )
Everything appeared to running perfectly so I made the decision to download the DarkyROM XXJVR10.3 which includes the DarkCore3.1 kernel, then moved it to the root of my SD Internal card.
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/i...wm-sgs-cappy-darkyrom-xxjvr-10-3-beta-1.4508/
The DarkCore3.1 (I9000+I897) kernel includes:
JVR Modem for I9000
DEODEXED
root
busybox
OpenVPN
BASH
RAM Hack
% Battery
Overscroll
Extended power menu
CRT-Off
BLN full support!!!
SIP over 3G and WiFi
I installed DarkyROM 10.3 via the DarkyROM app without any problems. I took the same steps above installing the DarkyROM 10.3 to install the Goldielicious Red RC9.1:
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/i...darkyrom-goldielicious-red-rc9-1-update.4564/
I must say that I don't think I will ever go back to a Stock ROM now that I have tasted Darky's Custom ROMs.
Battery:
With the Darky 10.3 ROM and the Goldielicious Red RC9.1 theme applied, the batter life is amazing compared to when I was on Stock gingerbread 2.3.3. BONUS!!
Launchers:
This ROM comes with the new Launcher and also TWLauncher 4.5. I am using neither of them though. I am still using Launcher Pro Plus which i prefer and works with out any issues if you uninstall and re-install the app.
Networks:
I have read about a lot of people having problems with either there Wireless, 3G and or GPS not functioning properly after flashing a custom rom.. Everything is working flawlessly for me! The wireless is great, 3G is there as always and the GPS connects within 10 - 15 seconds!
Bonus!:
Clock Work Recovery CWR 3.0.2.8x is included as well as Voodoo control (both Lag fixes enabled )
Now the ONLY thing that isn't working properly is what I had expected anyways from installing a I9000 ROM on the T959D. The Home and Search button no longer work but I never used them anyways ways so i don't even notice it! I think there is a Hack or a work around but I figure I not bother trying anything else since everything is running better then perfect!
Oh and another thing that I really like now is that I can actually change the boot up animation and sound too!!
If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask!
Here are screenshots of my Telus Fascinate with the DarkyROM 10.3 and the Goldielicious Red RC9.1 theme:

Should i go back to stock before i update my telus fascinate to 2.3?
Is that what you did to update to 2.3?
Thanks in advance.

It might be best to go back to stock first just to be sure. I ended up flashing to Darkyrom 10.2 first from Stock gingerbread 2.3.3 + rooted. Then upgraded to Darkyrom 10.3.
So im not 100% sure how clean the installation would be if your already coming from a custom rom. Best to safe and flash back to stock. My 2 cents

Great! I got all my Buttons working correctly now thanks to jpmccarthy!!
Here is how it is done:
You will need a file manager application, like ROOT Explorer or something similar.
Open up /system/usr/keylayout/melfas_touchkey.kl in a text editor.
Make sure that your 'keys' look like this:
key 139 MENU
key 158 BACK
key 217 SEARCH
key 105 HOME
key 106 SEARCH
...
..
...
Save the file and reboot your phone. All your buttons should work now

No prob, and props to Japots for providing me that how to ... also ES file Manager has a root explorer option you can turn on and is a free app in the market.
I'm willing to try this, but can anyone confirm that it's a safe process?
To fix home button you can use this patch. Just install from recovery.

I'm about to get a T959D, thanks for your guide there!
So when I get the phone, I should flash it back to stock 2.2, upgrade to 2.33 with Kies, root it, then flash to Darky 10.2 then to 10.3?

So far I have successfully installed DarkyROM 10.2 EE on two other Fascinates (T959D) without any issues at all. Both phones were originally upgraded to Gingerbread from 2.2 and gingerbread was also rooted.
So I would suggest upgrading to stock gingerbread first, root it, then preform the DarkyROM 10.2 EE upgrade as mentioned in the first post.
One important thing I didn't mention which i should is that make sure you either restore to factory setting OR uninstall any third party applications you may have installed from the market before you upgrade to Darky 10.2.
I didn't do this and ended up with a number of applications force quitting but all I had to do was uninstall them, then reinstalled after the upgrade.

I've been reading a bit but I'm still a bit confused... what is the issue behind putting custom roms on the t959d? Seems like CM doesn't work on the t959d either?
That said, as long as the phone runs fast with the voodoo mod, that's all I'll care about, hah.

I'm not 100% sure why and I have never tried installing any other custom ROM besides Darky 10.2.
I found that the battery life was a bit better then Stock 2.3.3 and it ran smoother as well.
Been successful with 3 Fascinates (T959D) now.

Nice! I'm coming from the Samsung Gio. Nobody ever mentions about link2sd or app2sd on these forums... is it because there's enough space to install whatever you like on the T959D? Do you keep a ext 2/3/4 partition on your sd card anyway for apps?

I wonder if restoring your applications from Titianium would achieve the same result - keeping your data and settings without needing to reinstall applications. This is on my to do list, so I will try that as I have a multitude of applications installed and this seems to be the go to way of doing it for most people.
Also be good to do a nandroid backup of your phone first

The complexity is in the phone itself - the Telus Fascinate has nothing in common with the Verizon one - its actually closer to the i9000 or the vibrant - but still not exactly the same. Because it is odd that way, and only offered by Telus, not a lot of handsets out there I think - so not much development BUT we get some GREAT support where folks have made some custom kernels or others try the i9000 ROMS and report back (like here ) In most cases, looks like the buttons are the only issues which is very fixable.
I definitely want to try Darky's but cannot be without a phone, so waiting for a USB Jig (Ordered but not delivered ) first before jumping in.
iwbsource's success (multiple times now!) is definitely a good indicator that will work out though.
Great job!
DarkyROM Tool?
A lot of the how tos say to get this tool for Darkys - but I cannot find it in the Market from my phone (but I CAN from my PC).
Does this only show up once you have Darkys installed so that you can configure it?
That kinda makes sense to me but thought I would ask.
EDIT: That's exactly what happens - you need Darkys installed to get the app.
I can vouch this post.
I got DarkysRom 10.3 on my T959D and it works flawlessly.
Just follow the steps and everything will be fine. I had no problems with this.

Which NAND JB ROM? What radio version do you have? Are the APN settings correct? What bootloader are you using? Did you select MAGLDR or PPP during the installation? You need to give a lot more information before we can give useful advice.
The NAND rom is NexusHD2-ICS-CM9-HWA v2.8
Idk about the radio version but I guess its 2.08?
Boatloader CWM
At the setup I picked MAGLDR not PPP

Your radio version is 2.15, which is fine. Have you checked that the APN settings are correct? Go to settings>mobile network>APN Settings (or something like that, you should be able to find it) and check that the right one is selected. If you need to add a new one, you can usually find the correct settings on your carrier's website or by asking them.
Its pretty empty..
How did you see my radio version? And what is that?

Thank you so much it worked I searched for the APN settings filled them in and rebooted my device now my internet works but I believe its not 3G
Sent from my NexusHD2 using xda app-developers app
What does it say in the status bar when you try to use the internet? If H then it's basically 3.5G, if G or E then you're getting slower than 3G connection. If it's one of those, check that your network setting (not sure where exactly it is but it's in the same place as the APN setting) is 'WCDMA/GPRS (WCDMA preferred)' (I may have got the letters slightly wrong but you'll easily figure it out when you see it).
EDIT: Oh and as for seeing the radio version, it's the end of the top line in your screenshot -'15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14'
Oh that's how you see it.. uhm Now that my internet is working I don't see any difference than before its just the blue connection bar that you're used to on JB. But sometimes a capital R pops up but I guess that's because of the roaming.. everything is fixed now so thanks alot for your help.. I only do not understand why I need to configure that APN mannualy

Normally you don't need to do any manual APN configuration, so it seems a bit odd to me too. At least you got it working though.

I have installed the Android NativeSD ROM from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437463
I use Rundroid as dual boot app (windows mobile app):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973921
I have set the APN correct according my providers instructions Vodafone Netherlands, like this HTC One X instruction:
http://handleidingen.vodafone.nl/we...internet/de-telefoon-voor-internet-instellen/
I have checked other phones instructions, but they are all the same settings, which is logical of course.
None the less everything is set correctly now, | cannot get 3G internet, when I use windows mobile 3G internet works fine. Data connection is checked ON Roaming is checked ON. Rebooted several times also does not help.
Cell phone and SMS works OK.
I have now even turned off all mobile networking settings in windows mobile (airplane mode), before booting to Androd as windows might run in the background occupying the radio or something (I dont think so, but you never know exactly what is going on)
This all is really frustrating, because the very reason I went over to Android is because mobile internet is more and more crippled with Windows Mobile, because mobile websites I used, are more and more abandoned or not updated anymore because they are replaced by Android, Iphone and windows Phone 7/8 Apps, that obviously do not work on windows Mobile 6.5. Also social media is crippled, as Facebook and Twitter changed server adresses and such, so the old apps fail to find a connection..
At the other hand I do not want to remove Windows Mobile completely, and make it a full android only, because I have some critical applications that only run on Windows Mobile that I certainly do not want to loose (Glider tactical navigation software LK8000, http://lk8000.it/ take a look and you will understand why)
So please help me getting 3G internet back, so I can use it to the fullest again, Big thanks in advance,
Marco Nierop
Netherlands

Oh wtf, forgot to mention the most important thing! excuse me!..
I used the ROM from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437463
NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.9a
By reading about this, I learned that RMNET only works with MAGDLR which I cant use, because I wanted dual boot, so I already installed using PPP, but for all sake I will try again.
I have received a 32GB class 10 SD card today, which I am formatting right now and will set up for installing a jellybean rom, maybe it works better with that rom, I will take special care to check PPP or RMNET. I will let you know if it works,
Thanks so far!

No problems with that rom afaik, rmnet is supposed to work better with magldr!
Anyway it's worth trying the one you haven't as both work with magldr.

I have tried this ROM: NexusHD2-JellyBean-CM10.1 V2.0 [NativeSD]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224469
I must say it looks much better then the ICS Rom, but the issue of no 3G internet is still there.. So I think it is the MAGDLR requirement after all as stated in the ROM thread.
But I cannot use MAGDLR, because flashing MAGDLR tool, removes Windows Mobile, which I do not want to loose.
Any advise on a nice working Native SD ROM that does work OK when installed according the dual boot guide, using the 4EXT Recovery tool and NOT requiring MAGDLR?
I will search myself also of course but any advise is much appreciated.
Thanks again!
Marco

Ok, thanks! I am now trying another ROM, made by Xylograph, ( [13-NOV-2012][ROM][JB][4.1.2] PACman HD2 v1.2a [PA/AOKP/CM10][NativeSD][WIP]) still busy flashing, if that doesn't work I will try magdlr again coming weekend.

It is working!
I have reflashed the Jelly Bean Packman ROM, just with the 4EXT recovery tool but the only thing I changed during the ROM installation is selecting the ODEX option. Another thing that might be important is that I have changed location to do this. I am now at my work where cell phone signal is a bit stronger, and now the 3G Internet seems to work (signal indicator is blue with very small 'H' beside it).
Probably it was OK after all, but is the signal at home just a bit too weak to make it work from the start.. however internet was working OK with Wimo 6.5. so why not with Android? maybe it just needs a good signal, during first boot, to make it work?
Also I did not have to go into mobile network APN settings, the blue H signal popped up right from the start
OK, I am happy now, the Packman ROM works fine, is smooth and looks good.. and still able to boot windows mobile (as a PDA) for my gliding activities! Ha!, what a wonderfull machine this is.. 4 years old and still very, very usefull!
Thanks anyways for the great help and directions.

Viper 4 Android

This is my third day trying to get this thing to work on my galaxy s4.
I am rooted and I installed busybox I using the ROM in the link below

I tried so many things , I even went back to stock rom and nothing.
Viper just keeps telling me to install drivers and I click on the one for my phone and all it does is say they are installed and I need to reboot and it does this even after I reboot . I really want it , I had it working on my old phone any help would be appreciated
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44344267

Are you on a 4.3 ROM? Because Viper doesn't work yet on 4.3.
If not, do the following:
Clear app data.
Uninstall app.
Reboot.
Install Viper again.
Open app; on the prompt, install the CortexA8 driver.
Reboot.
Now it should work.

1.) Click on VIPER
2.) Please Selec Your CPU : I choose Cortex A8 with NEON
3.) VIPER 4 android has been granted root access pops up
4.) Driver installed, please reboot your phone
5.) Go back to 1.) after reboot
= Endless loop of death and agony
I even tried installing busybox again it came with my rom though

By the way my guess for that and for everyone else having problems with that , it most likely due to an equalizer being turned on in the music program itself TURN THAT OFF you cant have two apps controlling the music output

Havent tried the speaker setting...but it should/is supposed to affect all media output...so I would say yes...but cant guarantee it

Hello, today I saw that my nook has this problem, I think it had it since a while, but today I started to mess up with it.
It has Cyanogenmod 7, but I don't know what's happening.
It is stuck on this screen:

}
I was planning to use Cyanogenmod 10... but right now I have this problem.
Does someone knows how to solve this?
Thanks!
--Update-- Today, I tried to turn it on differently, I pushed all the buttons at the same time, and instead of "Loading" it says "Booting into recovery" with a micro SD card into it, then when I removed the micro SD and tried again, it says "booting into alternate..."
Should I try to put CM 10 on it right now?
Thanks!

Can I use CM 10.2 instead? What do you think? So I just burn your CWM file into my SD and then the CM? What are this -gapps- for?
What version of CWM do I use (5.5.0.4 or 6.0.1.2)?
Thanks

I prefer CWM 5504.
And yes, you can flash CM10.2. Use gapps 20130813 (that installs Play Store). Be sure to factory reset/wipe data with CWM after you flash and before you reboot.
You do not need to PM me, I monitor these threads.

What is happening? When I try to burn the CWM into the SD card, it says it is now only 200 MB and it is 2 GB, this happened twice with two different cards.
How do I fix this?

Usually those bootable CWM SDs should be of small size and used permanently as a bootable CWM SD. You WILL need them again. Just look at your case, your device locked and you needed it again. You can always use partitioning software to expand the partition to the full size of the SD, but it should remain dedicated to use as a bootable CWM SD. Label it and put it away for future use.
