It's kinda stupid to buy a smart watch. No offense but it really is. How many ppl do you know that has one? Why? Consumers dont need it nor do they want it. It's useless tech that company push out to create hype to attract attention. But in the end, the reviews come in and the tech just rots in the stores or at the company's warehouses.
Get her a necklace, buy her a regular wrist watch or buy her a car.

The pebble is the best one out but the display is terrible, so if the "best" one out there fails in the one aspect that is most important in a device you look at...you don't buy one.
Plus apple has the iwatch coming which is forcing samsung to get into the fray, so in a year there will be FAR better devices out.

iWatch will come out and then EVERYONE will be making a watch ....including HTC, Moto, Sammy, and LG.

what is the point of a smart watch? what can it do that a phone can't and at what time would you have a watch on and not your phone? if I am going to wear a watch it will be a good looking one not some dorky looking one that does the same thing my phone already does.

It's a companion not an independent device, like a bluetooth headset, you sync your phone with it and you can receive/reject calls, respond to texts...and that's all i can think of but I'm sure it has other uses.
As for carrying something even though my phone can already do it, I have a bluetooth headset, 4/3 camera, ipod, etc. that I carry at different times along with my n4 so I don't see why that matters.

Whose considering a Synapse Phone

With all N1 alternative threads, I'm surprised I haven't seen the synapse phone mentioned more, so I thought I would start a thread
I am quite heavily considering it. Tho I think I wanna wait for series 2, just to make sure custom rom community is there. Being rooted and unlocked bootloader from factory. But I think I should buy one to ensure there is a series 2
So who else is considering one of these synapse phones? To maybe replace their N1

wtf how cheap is this phone to start with? They're charging you extra for the most basic smartphone features...like a 3.5 mm jack!
*edit*
just modified my phone to personal liking, almost $900!
Read the remarks for a good analysis:
http://phandroid.com/2010/10/19/ger...g-custom-built-android-2-2-handsets-possibly/
Not going to happen.
So not a scam, but prob not gonna happen considering company resources
Damn

Man that seems like such a good idea....
The first day someone posted about it on gizmodo or something, I went and looked at the prices. I "built" a phone using all of components that would put it above similar phones spec wise, it was going to cost about $900 USD.
Considering I spent my entire summer savings on my Nexus One ($580 + ~$20 for screen protectors, case, etc = $600) It's not necessarily a good or bad value. If I had that type of expendable income, I would totally go for it!
The concept is cool though - make a phone that caters to your needs. I wish an American company would try this! Maybe Google? "Nexus 2 - Have It YOUR WAY!"

hahahahahaa. Somehow, equating a $500+ phone to fast food just doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth. lol
It's an interesting idea - I won't be in the market for a new phone until September 2011 so will keep an eye on them until then. That should be enough time for them to succeed / fail.
I like the idea of a 3 year warranty..
sounds like a good idea, but they are being jackasses, 256mb of ram as the basic mode want more ram? well pay up, which is just plain 2008 or wifi, 3.5mm as options when these are basic necessities for a smartphone.
Seems more like a dream idea than an actual production device

Hold the lettuce, gimme 512RAM.
86 the onions and gimme titanium back plate.
And please add bacon and the infinite touch capacitive touch screen. EXTRA? Yeah, I know, that's ok! I like bacon!
Alright I'm bumping this thread up just to show everyone there's a better alternative to the Nexus S.
And the website is pretty much working for me now. Though there's no option for me to preorder yet, but I'm more excited about this than the other phone.
Synapse-Phone.
If this true I will buy one for sure...just wanna see some in the wild and read some reviews...I will most def pass on the Nexus S

Prices are not that awful for what I need, I end up at 500 or so USD
Obviously, I didn't put 4G and hdmi, radio, etc. since I don't use them and 4G won't be appearing in Canada for a while ^^
I'll see how it gets when they start actually selling the phones...it's an awesome idea honestly, I just hope they succeed! Go germans go
3 years warranty? Amazing if true. That alone is worth it! And finally a xenon flash for an android phone.
Custom spec phone?
I would say you're on your own as far as custom ROMs go...?

Problem with Synapse phones... They advert DVB/T for US, but US uses ATSC!

Oh, great. Bumping a fake phone as a better alternative to another, rumor-based phone. Excellent idea.

If VZW announces the iPhone tomorrow, whos going to jump ship?

So major rumors have it that tomorrow Verizon is going to announce the iPhone 4. You've probably all read them, what I'm wondering is if anyone will get it. I'm tempted to sell my DInc to get one..
Anyone else?

Yeah those guys are pretty awesome!
The only thing i'm wishing is we had a better GPU. That (and the better camera + front facing) are really the only things that make me want to switch. Everything else is not that big of a deal...
I was really hoping 2.3 would have been a bigger update than it was. And I can really only see honeycomb running on tablets, not phones. The android ecosystem is poor in my opinion (now the community...thats a different story.) and it shows with the app selection. Yes, there are some great apps..no tons of them, but they always come to iOS first. In my opinion, Google really needs to straighten some things up with OEM's.
But this is all my opinion
I'm good with my android / vibrant but good luck to those that do! To you, happy smartphoning!

LMFAO, Gotta love the Android faithful... Logical, unlike all the Apple sheep that wish to give Steve Jobs more money to buy Rainbow colored turtlenecks..
Steve Jobs will not get any of my money! Have wanted a good tablet which the iPad seemed to fit all my (not needs but rather) wants, but just couldn't force myself to pay hard earned money for a stupid iPad/MAC... going Android.

Sony Ericsson LiveView Watch for $25 [with shipping]!

If you don't know what this thing is, a short summary is basically:
The LiveView is a watch that gets information from your phone and displays them on its screen when you're either 1. Too lazy 2. Too busy
to pull our your phone.
I KNOW that this watch has its bluetooth problems and is very irritating at times
(I own one myself)
But I think $25 at least warrants a look in its direction.

ya never really bought from sites like these they always look kinda fake to me, but this seems like a cool little gadget
read a few reviews on them and none of them were good lol. all of them said it only lasted a few hours.
Yeah, it's not super practical, but it's a fun little device that at least gets some conversations started. (and a little nerd cred)

site is fine, I'd rather buy an old ipod nano with watch belt, then just sync it to phone with bluetooth, seems like this is what it does to me :S
I know reading texts are just superfluous, but can an ipod nano sync texts and emails?
Honest question, cause if it could, I'd seriously consider getting one

Choked that I missed out on this!
with the help of some apps this liddo thing can be pretty awesome
glad I got it in time though I think shipping will prob take forever on that site lol

lol.. .. I'm agree on that part, at 1st people around us will think it's weird, but when they tried it, surely they will impress with the bigger screen..:good:
Pretty good device still, but you'd be better off getting yer mitts on a Galaxy Note - way better hardware and screen, more user support and CM10. Always thought the DS5 was pretty moody - mine would spontaneously factory reset every month or so.

Apple iWatch

One of the most rumoured Apple's devices. The design I saw on Gizmodo is awesome in my view. So what do you think about it? Will Apple release it and wil you buy it?
unfortunately, can't post images as not allowed to post urls, but you may google it and see the concept.
Seems like a typical Apple thing. Could be very interessting how it would work, because the bluetooth method is not that good in my opinion. Design looks pretty cool, but could be very expensive.

With android 1.5 ?

The motoactv watch runs on Android 2.3, and I've owned mine for over a year. Can you say ocarina of time on a watch? Or MXplayer for playback of .avi movies? Or a ton of other phone apps from the Google Play Store?
