Did anyone miss this release? - Ubuntu Touch General

Was just browsing videos from CES 2013 and came across this hyped interview with Ubuntu.
However some information I hadn't heard anywhere else suddenly came to light around 4:25...

Oh well, I'm gonna stay excited about the fact that they hopefully will release source before an actual finished project.
Thanks for the update

I don't think they forgot, so much as omitted.
Probably mid-June
The official release sounds like it's going to be June but as Cyanogen pointed out on Twitter yesterday, Froyo source is already tricking into AOSP which means between now and release, CM will have more and more Froyo features.
there is a beta, right?
Engadget says they got a beta of both 2.2 and adobe's 10.1 flash player on their demo phone. If Adobe and google are sending these out, someone is going to dump the ROM and it will be available here. I'm itching for some frozen yougart...

It says here we can update OTA starting today. If I go to my phone settings and about and click on update it says I am up to date.

well this keynote isn't over yet, maybe they will mention it before it ends (release date).
the keynote isn't over. they'll announce the date at some point today.
Don't expect the release to be today. It's most likely in june.

So... you have sole rights to speculate about the release date? That's all anyone here is doing, there is not official or even leaked word about the date from anyone in the know. It's just based on Adobe's June release for Flash 10.1.
If someone posts a thread about the release, feel free to complain to them for double-posting but not the rest of us who are just helping the people that don't know how to search.
Supporting devices
Nexus One owners will be delighted to learn that Android 2.2 is available as an OTA update beginning today. Google also confirmed that late model devices like the Motorola Droid, HTC EVO 4G, HTC Desire and HTC Incredible are scheduled to get the update soo

Gingerbread next week?

Everybody who can't manage to root 2.2.1 might want to hold off. Android Police is a website I like and I cant see them making a post like this not trusting the source. Unless this is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=795483&page=2 Banoffee, I am pretty excited!.
I sure hope this is true. I was already afraid that it would get postponed cause there has been no news since august about Gingerbread. And quite a time before Froyo got released we were already eating it for weeks
Next week? I don't think so.. but we'll see :/
That sounds about right actually, with google tv about to spread out like a red light district whore, they'll have to start getting smartphone remotes up and running.

Market support. =)
Sounds good...hope that badboy arrives soon
The link just says that the SDK will be released next week.
I'd be cool with having Gingerbread, thx.
Gingerbread is still months off. Stop it.
Also, learn what an SDK is.
I'm thinking holiday time for gingerbread. Was disappointed to see the link was just for the sdk although it is good news in that things are moving forward.

no. the sdk is released ahead always. what good is an OS update if most of the apps won't even run on it? it is giving the app devs a head start. the source is usually released a couple weeks after the official build is released as in OTA

Haha YESSSS!!
What if google elfs broke into every android users house on christmas eve, unrooted their phones, installed gingerbread and wrapped a bow on it. Then you wake up to your phone playing " jingle bells, jingle bells jingle bell... *static* ...rock...*crackle*... DROOOOID" and it displays merry xmas mofo!

... you mean what if google black helicopters swoop in and rumble your phone for every last scrap of information about you, whoall you know, all your voice calls and messages, and your whereabouts every minute of the day?
I think it may be possible that it will be released next week.
All rumours have stated that Gingerbread will be ready/released in October. Paul O'Brien of MoDaCo posted on his Twitter, a week or so back, that there were gonna be big weeks ahead for Android and Windows Phone 7. Windows Phone 7 has officially launched so that is done, so just the big Android stuff is left which could be Gingerbread.
Also I think Gingerbread will actually be Android 2.3 and that Honeycomb will be Android 3.0. Andy Rubin mentioned 2.3 and 3.0 in a recent interview so as Gingerbread is coming out next, it must be 2.3!
All just speculation though! We'll find out next week!
EDIT: Just seen this article which states that video calling may be in Gingerbread and that several sources have said Gingerbread is going to “change the way we use our phones.”

Which generally means the full release won't be too far behind.
Besides, if it's really awesome, you can always recompile the SDK emulator code for the N1. It happened when 2.2 came out at least.

We get Froyo tonight? (Nevermind!)

http://www.tgdaily.com/mobility-brief/52521-samsung-galaxy-s-finally-gets-its-turn-with-android-22
I just read through that article and apparently tonight at 8pm, an update will be available on Samsungmobile.com that will be compatible with all Samsung galaxy s devices that will upgrade them to 2.2.
I hope he means ALL devices. Or I am going to be pissed. :\
EDIT: Look's like the author failed to mention any specifics.
I now await the flamers.

Just by reading the contents of the article I can tell the author has no clue what they are talking about :/...
That said I wonder if anything useful will be extracted from the Sprint Galaxy Tab and the source they published :/

I just saw the comments and thought the same thing. It's kind of stupid that he would attach a picture of the carrier variants even when the update probably isn't for them.
Something useful will come from the source code, just watch. Someone will find something.

according to this. 8pm tonight.

Possible bootloader workaround thanks to samsung?

So I was browsing the net, and I came across http://www.idigitaltimes.com/articl...alaxy-s3-verizon-bootloader-unlocked-code.htm. This site states that Samsung has released the source code for the Verizon SG3. They also include said zip file for devs to tinker with. Don't know if anyone's seen this already or had time to check it out. Hope this helps the dev scene.
Edit: Was told in a later post it's not for the bootloader, but just source code, hopefully this can be used in appropriation for unlocking our bootloader in the near future.
Downloaded! Good looking out! Hopefully now tomorrow I will have CWR up and running.
Hope this works. great find.

I apologize. The way I understood was that it was the source code for the bootloader, but some source code is better than none eh? Glad to be of assistance. I'm gonna be getting my SG3 in 2 days when they're released to the stores en masse, if they let me get an early upgrade since mine isn't due till the end of the month. Hopefully my link helps the development of better stuff for the SG3

Nexus 7 to get 5.0 lollipop Nov 12th

According to this source

If it does happen I doubt deb will be included but rather 1-2mo later.

not yet - refreshing like mad. I'm assuming they mean 12th Nov US time, with someone flicking the switch when they get into work. A few hrs yet before that happens...
I read on G+ that they will publish the system images at 2pm EST, no idea if it's true or not. I'm also refreshing like crazy.

Yeah, I read it again after you asked and realized that... Had my hopes up too much I guess. But Google announced it only an hour past 2pm...

And exactly as was predicted here by me and many others: deb (LTE) not getting the lollipop treatment.
I also guess it's not going to be any time soon...running an AOSP build that works perfectly fine, so it's not thaaaat bad...still disappointing.
