Section and forums need to be renamed for safety (and simple accuracy) - RAZR HD General

"Droid" implies that the section pertains exclusively to the Verizon version. I think this section should be renamed simply "Motorola Razr HD".
Then, assuming that the Maxx versions don't require any special software considerations, and assuming that the GSM/CDMA versions require different software (as is the case with many other phones), I'd suggest the forums be changed to:
- Razr HD General
- Razr HD Q&A
- Razr HD Accessories
- Razr HD / Razr HD Maxx (GSM) Android Development
- Razr HD / Razr HD Maxx (GSM) Original Development
- Droid Razr HD / Droid Razr HD Maxx (CDMA) Android Development
- Droid Razr HD / Droid Razr HD Maxx (CDMA) Original Development
- Razr HD / Razr HD Maxx Themes and Apps
For added clarity the device model names could be included as well, like "XT925" for the international GSM model and "XT926" for the Verizon CMDA model.
Without these changes, a newbie might easily flash CDMA firmware on a GSM model or vice versa.
Finally, I know this is a growing trend with many (all?) new device listings, but do we really need to separate the "Android" from the "Original" development? Few developers seem to know the difference and I don't see how the difference really matters in the first place. A ROM is a ROM, a kernel is a kernel, etc.

[Q] Droid 2 World Edition/Milestone 2 Quick Quesiton

Hi all,
I have my Milestone 2 on pre-order and have a very basic quesiton. I have never owned an Android device before but am very much into using Linux etc and am quite keen to get stock Android running on my Milestone 2 when I finally get it.
My question is, will the ROMs that introduce stock Android onto the Droid 2 work without much trouble on the World Edition of the phone, or do you guys envisage a fair bit of work to get it rolling?
Apologies if this has been covered before or is in the wrong section of these forums.
Regards,
- Matt

Just so you know, Droid 2 Global (World Edition) is not the same phone as the Milestone 2.
Droid 2 Global has CDMA, GSM, UMTS while Milestone 2 is a different phone and has GSM and UMTS but no CDMA.
Verizon says the Droid 2 Global is Tri-Band UMTS, but I can't find any documentation on what bands exactly.
Droid Pro has Tri-Band UMTS, too, and according to some documentation it is 850/1900/2100 but that is not official.

[Q] Where's the source?

Anyone know if Motorola has released the source yet? I went to their project page and found the source for Droid, Droid X, Droid 2 Global, and Droid Pro, but nothing for the regular Droid 2. Are we grouped in with the Global?

[Q] Droid RAZR ROM for the HD2??

I just had a questions for all the cooks out there... I was reading yesterday on DroidDog that the Motorola Droid RAZR source code was released to the public... is there any possibility that any of the cooks would be building a ROM for our great HD2 from this? We get builds from about every other android so thought i would check on this because id like to see how this would work on our phones...

Time to move Droid 2/global/milestone 2 to legacy?

I think it's time to move Droid 2 / Global / Milestone 2 forums to Legacy as there is little to no support for these devices. Mostly everybody seems to have moved to the Galaxy 3 or One X :crying:
The only things that could possibly save this device is if Motorola add it to the list of devices support by their recently released unlock tool.

The bootloaders are a pain, but the biggest problem is that we don't have ICS drivers for the camera and such which means devs are having to work that out on their own. Considering that in the last year we've gotten Galnet, CM9 with 10 on the horizon, MIUI V4, Gummy, and other Roms I wouldn't say these are dead devices.
motos bootloader unlocking tool is not compatible with older phone
requires fastboot mode
to unlock, moto would have to create a new sbf

Milestone 2 forums have been moved to low activity/legacy devices for above 6 months you know, despite them being quite more active than the D2/D2Global ones, and with CM9/10 releases pretty much more advanced than the D2 ones.
But yeah, D2/D2G should be moved there too, and should have been at the same time than Milestone 2 ones.

[Q] Moving to Droid Pro from Droid RAZR M

I'm switch to an unlocked Droid Pro from my Verizon Droid RAZR M. I know this is a downgrade, but I'm switching to a prepaid plan, and I just couldn't handle not having a physical keyboard any more.
I know I'll want to root and ROM my Droid Pro. I used to have a Droid 2 Global and I hated the 2.2/2.3 Motoblur junk that was on it. I never rooted my RAZR M because the newer moto software is actually pretty slick.
What is the smoothest ROM out there for the Droid Pro? CM7?
I think I already found a ported version of Smart Actions (which is great if you haven't tried it), but I'd still like to find a ported version of the Motorola Circles Widget. Anyone know where to find that?
Does Z4root still work for rooting the Pro? I know that used to be in the market.
I'd appreciate any advice about making this phone run as smooth as possible, I'd really like to avoid as many headaches as possible coming from such a newer and faster phone.
Thanks in advance!
