Galaxy Note 10.1 vs. Galaxy Tab 2 P5100 - Galaxy Tab 2 General

Hi guys,
Please help me to make the right choice
I need a 3G tablet, capacity doesn't matter and to be honest I don't really need stylus.
I stuck with those 2 tablets as I own Galaxy Note phone.
Are there more significent differences?
- a 3G Note 10.1 (£500) will be about £150 more than Tab 2 (£350)
- Note has better camera 5mp vs 3mp
Performance:
- can I split the screen on Tab 2 with 2 apps at the same time like on Note commercial videos?
- can I use these tablets like phones when I put my simcard from my old Note?
Thanks for any advice!

Sure note 10 has better specifications in processor and stylus etc and will give you smoother experience overall and is the samsung flagship model of tablets till now
1-No split screen in tab2 models as i know i have 10 inch p-5100 tab2 no split screen with multiple apps you got the button that let you multitask and choose other apps running in background only
2-certain models of tab2 only can give you phone functions calling messaging contacts 3G those models are p-3100 for 7 inch and p-5100 for 10 inch as the one i have other models are only wifi no phone functions or sim card slot at all as p-3110 and p-3113 for 7 inch and p-5110 and p-5113 for 10 inch

three more questions please
-is chrome working fine on stock tab2 p5100
- can I use signal from my Note 5.3 to tab2
- can I use signal from tab2 to work on another tablet?
cheers

Is there any reason for me to buy Note 10.1 instead of Tab2 3G if I don't use stylus and dont play games?

Flagship models usually have better support officially and unofficially!!!
Also the better processor 1.6 dual core have a good potential and will give you overall smoother experience not just in games everything

Of course the quad core is better but Samsung did not release quad core tablet yet so 1.6 dual core is the flagship model until now and better than 1 dual core of tab 2 if you want quad code so go for Asus or nexus 7 but a note that most apps did not take advantage of quad core yet not programmed to use all cores in the future that will change with apps updates but for now 1.6 dual core may be better in performance than 1.4 quad in most apps

Yeah that might be true in marketing, BUT today in year 2012-13 --- FOUR CORES (4) is the standard....
That was a stupid move from google. A nexus 10 with 4 (A15 ) cores Would have been the smartest choice for 2560x1600 resolution and 9000 mah battery.:crying:

This.
I read Apple's newest iPad got a new processor as it was slower pushing all the pixels in the iPad 3. I wish I could find the link. However, it it's as fast or faster than the latest iPad, it should be fine.

yet its GPU is awesome, match with exynos 5250 = beast

Nexus 7 has a quad core Tegra3 not a s4.
Either way, no device has specs this awesome yet. Can't wait for benchmarks from the Exynos 5250 :good:
More goes into the speed of a processor than the number of cores/clock speed. Just because it is a dual core doesn't make it slower than a quadcore CPU. I would prefer a faster CPU than have a quad core that would actually be slower just to have 2 more cores

How does the S4 Dual in the S3 stack up? is it still a good chip.
*face palm*
Seriously dude, they're not idiots. They know what they're doing. Do you really think Google ans Samsung would let the big new tablet be slower than the old small one? The Cortex A15 is over twice as fast as the old A9 cores so that more than makes up for that part and in addition has more single threaded performance which is what matters. Have you seen the Galaxy S3 with the Exynox in comparison to the S2? Its hardly faster because single threaded performance is more important.

Not quite accurate. When it comes to CPU performance, according to Antutu the Exynos 5250 is about 20% slower overall than the S4 Pro. Of course the Exynos 5250 is a dual core, while S4 Pro is quad, which means the A15 is something like 65% faster per core - so anything that doesn't utilize more than 2 cores will run considerably faster on the Exynos 5.
As for this whole dual- versus quad-A15 noise, A15 is the fastest cpu architecture. There is no SoC on the market (or even slated for release before Q1 2013 that I know of) that integrates four of them.
For most purposes the Exynos 5250 is still going to be the fastest thing out there for a while. Don't count Krait (the S4) out yet though - it's designed to run at up to 2GHz (the Nexus 4 runs at 1.5) while the Cortex A15 isn't really supposed to be run above 1.5GHz in a phone/tablet (Exynos 5 is 1.7GHz.)
Also benchmarks mean nothing.

Can you elaborate? I thought it could go up to 2.5ghz.
Dual core + 9000mah = more battery
A15 vs A9 = faster calculations and more performance
2GB Ram = excellent multitasking
add to all of this the new Mali T-604 GPU you get something that should be called an ipad terminator

Android 5...

Hello, I saw that google nexus 10 (tablet) probably will get the Android 5 and it's not fair that Galaxy 2 will not accept, as Nexus 10 has a Cortex-A15 Dual Core 1.7GHz frequency on Exynos 5250 platform and Galaxy 2 has a dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 so it does not look to me like a significant and it's really not fair Why Samsung is not making an effort and adjusts the system to S2 it also lowers the company, it really takes off and makes me think of the move really Nexus or something else, and I do not see why not make a Android suit herself processor, which means that if the CPU is 2 cores then it will use the two cores if you have 4 or more so she will know to take advantage of the 4 and get more like it should be like Linux comes soon and I hope we can install it on Hgalksi, I personally have 3 Galaxy S2 and I was really annoying me these two things ...

You do realise that the Cortex-A15 Exynos 5250 in the Nexus 10 is a lot more powerful than most of the current quad core CPUs out there and quite possibly more powerful than some Galaxy S4 variants? Not to mention the beast that is the Mali T604.

Looking for a new tablet, need advice

Hello. I'm looking to replace my nexus 7 as i cracked the screen a while back. Have been waiting on the Iconia A1 to come out, but I cant find any info as to when it will be coming in America. I have a coupon for $30 of the Gtab 2 7" at Sams which would put this at around $140. I know its getting a bit old, but what do you as users think of it still. I use my tablet as my GPS for trips, love the 7" screen...will also be doing to light internetting with it..possibly watching movies....and playing a few games here an there.

Which processor is/should be faster?

Hi I currently have an S3 i9300 and my company requires me to install MobileIron app and encrypt the whole phone; I find this slows down my phone considerably and often times I need to wait almost a minute for my app drawer to display my apps or some 20 seconds for camera to start.
Don't know if my experience with the S3 i9300 is only because of encryption app or also my processor-ram specs combination is not powerful enough to get a smooth experience.
So I'm looking to upgrade to an S4 but I don't know which version should I get based on which should be the faster one?
Should I get the 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor or a 1.6GHz Exynos Octa-core processor?

Octa core variant is marginally faster but does not support 4g
Snapdragon Is little slow compare to Octa core but support 4g
u can choose as per ur need
Both are good device
the i9500 is faster even though it is really a quad core phone and only 4 cores can be activated at the same time. but I've seen somewhere that Samsung said with android 5 update the phone will be a real octa core and all eight cores can be used simultaneously.
The change to a i9500/9505 for you will be very good because the s3 I9300 only has 1gig of ram compared to the i9500/i9505 that have new processors and 2gigs of ram. That extra ram will definitely make a difference.

What are you saying, Android 5 doesn't even exist. Also the Exynos 5410 won't allow all 8 cores only the exynos 5420 can which is only in the Note 3

If u can go for the note 3 and u don't mind it's size ... go for the note 3 and never look back ... but i suggest u wait if you can ofc for about a month to see how the s800 against the 5420 exynos compares ... it not so much about the ram except if you are a really heavy multitasker but the cpu and gpu which we know for sure that in the snapdragon case it's a considerable improvement especially in the gpu department and we ve yet to see how the new exynos chipset will compare to it's older sibling ...

Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 vs Galaxy Tab A 7.0, which has better CPU and GPU?

I'm trying to decide between the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 and Galaxy Tab A 7.0. I know that the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 has a Marvell PXA1088 CPU and Vivante GC1000 GPU. Does anyone here know what the exact CPU and GPU is in the Galaxy Tab A 7.0? The specs say T-Shark 2A CPU, but I can't find any information about it. I think it is made by Spreadtrum. I am trying to find the exact model. If anyone has this tablet could you run CPU X and find out? I am trying to figure out which one has the better CPU and GPU (Tab A or Tab 4). Thanks!
The 2016 Tab A 7 is most comparable to the Tab 4 7 LTE (SM-T235). The former has Exynos 3475 while the latter has Exynos 3470. The CPU part is near identical, while the GPU might give Tab A a slight edge in newer games. GC1000 won't stand a chance against modern multi-core GPUs.
Marvell/Spreadtrum is [email protected], don't go near it. Just look at how T230 users cry for development.

Thanks for the reply. I found out from someone else who ran CPU-X that the 2016 Tab A 7.0 (WiFi Only) has a Spreadtrum 1.3 GHz SC8830 CPU and Mali 400-MP2 GPU. I can't comment on the performance, but GC1000 is a very outdated and under-supported GPU and I don't expect it to be future proof. Exynos 3470 with Mali-400MP4 is not much better though.
The LTE version of Tab A 2016 (SM-T285) has the Exynos 3475, which integrates Mali-T720. It doesn't say "MP", so if it's only a single core, it's not gonna be much better than 400MP4, but it supports some more up-to-date graphics standards.
Samsung just couldn't make up-to-standards small tablets today...

Then it should work out pretty well for you, I'd recommend looking into a decent SD card on Amazon, I'm ordering a Samsung Evo 16gb myself since the usable space is a bit low with only 8gb internal... But other wise samsung is really solid with their build quality so I feel really confident with a Samsung tablet... (I have a habit of shattering tablet and phone screens lol)

I think I will go for the Tab A as well. There is a chance that it will get Marshmellow so that is a plus. I'll just be using it in my car anyway for simple stuff (Nav and Music), no gaming or anything.

To make it more clearly: LTE Tab A > LTE Tab 4 > WiFi Tab A ≥ WiFi Tab 4. If you have access to the former two, go for them. I had to wait for quite some time before an appropriately priced LTE Tab 4 pops up around me, but it's worth it.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I've got an SD card ready to go.

There does not seem to be a date as to when the LTE Tab A is coming out. Like you said, the LTE Tab 4 is kind of hard to find. The WiFi Tab A just dropped to $129, so I think it is pretty reasonable.
My other alternative was the 2nd Gen Nexus 7, but I just can't stand those huge bezels on it and no expandable memory.
Just be aware that Samsung are locking the bootloaders on these Tab A devices, so forget about any kind of development for these devices.
