[ROM][May8][RC1.6] WebCM9 with Cornerstone! AOKP #34 Beta1 live! Now with Themes! - TouchPad Development

VIDEO REVIEW:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=na-iugam4eQ&feature=youtu.be
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage to your device due to flashing this ROM! Flash at your own risk!
Special thanks to the CM9 team, AOKP team, and Onskreen!
Extra special thanks to zanderman112 for the video review and new screenshots!
This is more-or-less a straight kang of CM9 and AOKP for the HP Touchpad with Onskreen's Cornerstone baked in. If you're not familiar with Cornerstone, check out http://www.onskreen.com/cornerstone/
In a nutshell, Cornerstone is a Android modification that allows for true multitasking. Not the "Press the Back button to go to the previous app"-type of multitasking, but actually being able to have 3 applications running at once. Cornerstone utilizes the additional screen real estate on tablets to keep up to 3 applications on your screen at one time. It's kind of hard to understate what a different experience Android is using Cornerstone. Check out the screenshots to see what I mean!
Cyanogen himself is using it and loves it, and is trying to incorporate it into CM9, although there are some roadblocks: https://plus.google.com/u/0/100275307499530023476/posts/ViCME1bb8F6 Having said that, Cornerstone isn't perfect- there are still some rough edges to iron out, and porting it to the Touchpad was a little tricky, but it should be
BUGS:

- Some apps get "stuck"- either rotate landscape to portrait or vice versa, or close Cornerstone and launch it again (FIXED)
- The Home selection menu is buggy- working on a fix (FIXED)
- Probably others

(Note: the AOKP version is Beta so expect some bugs. However, it is stable enough for daily use. Also, wifi works MUCH better on this ROM- no need for Rohan's Mod. Known issues so far: Lock screen is currently not working in AOKP Beta 1- if you absolutely need a lock screen, this is not the ROM for you!)

It's a pain, I know, but I don't want to use or modify Rohan's patch until I get his approval.)

Starting with RC 1.6, wifi issues should be resolved. Please let me know if you are still having issues though.
NOTES ON WIFI (PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING!)
Update- 4/24/12
Wifi seems to stay connected without Rohan's Mod- AFTER rebooting 1-2 times. Try this first and please report back. Also, wifi will get flaky again if you reboot to WebOS and back to Android. Again, you will have to reboot a few times or flash Rohan's Mod again.
Update- 3/19/12
Many users are reporting that wifi works for them after installing Rohan's Supreme Tweaks 1.5. If you are still having wifi issues, here is the link.
Others are also reporting alternate wifi drivers helped them with their wifi issues: Thread here, direct download link here.
3/17/12
So I have noticed there are a couple of people with wifi issues using my Cornerstone ROMs. I also had a lot of issues with wifi, mainly with it not turning on after a restart, or finally turning on and seeing my wifi network, but not actually being able to connect to it. It was frustrating. Wifi is the lifeblood of the Touchpad! So I read through all the threads and posts about wifi, trying a bunch of different things, but there was one fix that solved my wifi issues permanently, regardless of what ROM I used-I switched my router's wifi channel to 1 (if you have a dual-band router, switching the 5ghz channel to 157 also helps, to a lesser extent). After that, I could connect after each reboot without fail. So if you are having wifi issues, please try that first.
Now, I realize some of you don't have the luxury of being able to switch wifi channels (for those connecting through work or school networks, for example) and I feel your pain. So I've switched to the CM Nightly kernel. This is the same kernel used in the CM9 nightlies, so you should have the exact same performance. So until there is a permanent solution to the wifi issues for everyone, please bear this in mind and leave comments on whether wifi is working for you or not.

One more for the road

Sounds great man. Thanks for the hard work. Will test asap.

this is great and I appreciate the hard work, but it makes really appreciate webOS in the fact that apps on the TouchPad like Glimpse does just this and works near flawlessly... Glad you guys are incorporating these different items.

Looks very promising, nice work so far!

The "fix" in cherry kang makes things better but it is by no means a permanent fix sadly.

Whatttt, trying this at home in a few hours. OnSkreen was the next thing to look for.
edit: wipe data/cache or flash on top?

I just want to reiterate that anyone wanting to use this should probably read the google plus discussion linked in the OP for the very real concerns. I just want the end user to use this responsibly in order that we can continue getting cutting edge features added to our devices. Pay particular attention to the concerns expressed by diana hackborn and the founder of onskreen (forgot his name, but cant seem to reopen the g+ site at the moment).
Thank you and have fun!

This is a no drama zone. Thread cleaned...of bickering. Here is what you missed;
THE MIC IS NOT WORKING ON THIS BUILD...LIKE ALL THE REST.
Now, let's get back on topic.

Which build of CM9 was this based on?
This build seems to have killed my wifi totally - I can confirm after several resets via ACMEUninstaller and starting fresh with both Alpha 0.5 and 0.6 (Wifi both working fine, I don't recall any issues with Alpha 0 either) Wifi was working - able to connect and access wifi, I then booted into CWM and flashed this and unable to even turn wifi on. (To clarify, my latest test was: Remove Android via ACMEUninstaller, Flashed Alpha 0.6, tested wifi was functional, flashed cornerstone ROM over 0.6 - wifi broken, cornerstone functional)
It's a really tough choice - having cornerstone is really quite cool, but I can't live without the wifi.
Am I doing something wrong (Am I supposed to flash via cminstall/ACMEInstaller2?) or is anybody else getting this?

You're probably not doing anything wrong....my WIFI was almost useless with this build also. I backed it up so that I can easily restore for when the bugs get worked out, but I had to go back to the ClassicNerd ROM for now since it runs flawlessly for me.

Yes, there was a reported problem with Cornerstone keeping Wifi toggled on startup. I'm working on another build that includes the latest CM wifi fix. It should be up later today.

Newb here ... I don't seem to have the market app installed after booting up this rom. How would I go about getting this installed.

Wait, I thought you needed 10 posts to at least post in a dev thread, you only have 5 at this moment.
@antiphon
Which build is based off of? Is it strictly a 0.6a + onskreen or is it later than 0.6a + onskreen or is it closer to a nightly + onskreen? Kang seems too broad a description, it should at least mention the base, or when it was synced with the repo.

Sweet....will there be an update to the Cornerstone app included? The one from the current ROM had an issue with the lower side screen where the app overlapped into the title bar of the lowerscreen. Also, in the demo vid from Onskreen, it shows a button that allows you to swap the apps from one of the smaller side screens to the larger main screen...this feature isn't in the current ROM so was curious...thanks!

Watching this thread VERY closely! I am so glad I got my Touchpad when I did.

[ROM][ICS][P7300/P7310]Official CyanogenMod 9 [2012-09-03]

This is the official CM9 port for the P7300 and the P7310.
EXPERIMENTAL BUILDS 2012-09-03
These builds uses the Linux 3.1.10 kernel and the libs from the official P7310 ICS firmware (the P7300 has borrowed the RIL lib from the official P7500 firmware).
Known issues is some graphics glitches in landscape modes that sometimes appear and that running Google Maps makes Android restart after ~1 minutes use (There's something with the compass sensor driver that goes berserk). And yes, both cameras works.
Important: First install Clockwork 6.0.1.2 in the second post if this thread. If you use the old Clockwork you will get a black screen on the first boot and you will need to do a long press on power to get it running again.
EDIT 2012-09-05 - Do not use Clockwork 6.0.1.2, possible risk of bricking (not sure yet if permanent or if it can be fixed). Using old recovery works with the new builds but you will need to do a long press to get the display working after each time you have booted into recovery.

Changelog
2012-03-02 - We're official! But I'll keep uploading "nightlies" here until the buildbot starts spitting out new builds automaticly. However for changelog I recommend keeping and eye on what get's merged here: http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#q,status:merged,n,z
2012-02-27 - Freshly synced against CM repo.
2012-02-10 - Soft keyboard is now always enabled.
2012-02-08 - Changed PRODUCT_RELEASE_NAME to GT-P7300/GT-P7310. Synced source with CM9 where the required patches for 3G and KSM now has been merged.
2012-02-03 - Fixed battery stats (thanks motley) and also added KSM support.
2012-01-30 - Touchscreen driver rewritten to use multitouch slots which I believe is the new standard in ICS. Seems to work a lot better than the old method.
2012-01-27 - Updated 3G fix (airplane mode is supposed to be fixed). Added bluetooth toggle in notification area + wifi toggle.
2012-01-26 - Added undervolting and more overclocking frequencies (stolen from Motleys kernel). Fixed screenshot feature.
2012-01-24 - Both: Some improvements to Torch (no longer flicker, added bright mode to kernel, quick and dirty fix to widget size) and also fixed the battery indicator in low power mode (charging when off) P7310: Removed signal strength bars
2012-01-23b - Enabled CIFS, NTFS and TUN in kernel. Replaced sensors.p3.so with P7300 version.
2012-01-23 - Youtube HD now works. New proprietary libs from pershoots repo. Also modified pershoots P75xx kernel to work with P73xx so it is no longer using Motleys kernel (although several files was kanged from Motleys kernel to make pershoots kernel work on our devices). Now uses bootanimation.zip from Xoom ICS release (looks pretty much the same as before). CIFS, TUN and NTFS is not included in this release but will be added in the next one.
2012-01-11 - Resynced source, tweaked autobrightness, added Torch from CM7 (untested since my camera LED is broken)
2012-01-09 - Initial release
Known issues
Camera is not working.
Compass is 90 degrees wrong.
Rotation animation "blanks out" before it starts.
Voice calls (P7300 version) isn't working although some report recieving calls work while outgoing calls is a not.
HDMI output is rotated 90 degrees.

Thats great to see
Camera works?
Definitely the smoothest experience I've had on this tab; having tried Stock, Overcome and ICS Alpha 2.
Edit:
Camera and Video playback (Youtube, YouTubeHD, Netflix I'm assuming) are of course a no-no still at the moment.
SD Card Video playback has been no problem for me, save for a bit of stuttering on high profile MKV's, but that's the same on every rom.
Streaming Icefilms worked flawlessly, which leaves me happy.
All I want, a fix for the strange half a second Rotation stretching, HD video playback fixed, and ma camera! This would be the perfect rom.
The currently running widgets thing has the app photos rotated 90 degrees, and the screen streches for half a second when rotating.
Otherwise, I'm very happy to see that my tablet is capable of attaining speeds like. Absolutely flawless; what I would give to have a complete ICS rom. xD
Great to see another ICS pop up. I was getting random freezes with Alpha2 as well...I'm assuming its probably related to the kernel?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
One annoyance however; no Market comes with the stock flash, and neither does a file explorer apparently. -___-
EDIT: Finally managed to get market installed, and it insta closes on start. =[
And then I realized its because I failed to remember to flash the Google Apps. -____- haha
Cool Race
Hi, presumably the reace between Alpha 2 team and CyanogenMod9 team is on...
will be interesting to see (and feel) the results once they become Beta...
Looking forward for the result of both teams !

I have no intention to start any competition. We both have the same goal, a stable and fully functional ICS for the Galaxy 8.9, and I believe sharing thoughts and ideas is the best way to achieve that goal.
And btw, I'm not a team, and while I am responsible for another CyanogenMod port (ZTE V9) this is not by any way yet an official CM9 port. Maybe it will be one day, maybe it won't.

Adding to that the fact that this is, as the title says, based in CM9 whereas Galaxian Soup's ICS is no longer based in CM9, just AOSP. Both stances are great. The more the merrier I say! This community needs more ideas, more development and talented people like you, alterbridge86 and Team Galaxian Soup. For this, I thank you.
great rom.I like this rom(maybe batter than galaxy soup alpha2).It is smooth as other roms and fixed the auto bright level on the galaxy soup(it's important to me).thanks the good work.
This ROM is run is running real well for me....looking forward to future updates.

3g data work?
No voice functions
When this ROM gets the voice functions working, I'll try it again. Until then, I'm going back to Galaxian Alpha 2 where it all works perfectly.

Actually we already have a kernel that supports 3G and has the needed ICS fixes, but it doesn't help, the CM9 ICS build has data disabled.
We (Galaxian-Soup) are working on making a ICS build that has data enabled.

Here's a totatally untested P7300 version: update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-p5-KANG-signed-20120112.zip
May or may not work. Kernel compiled for P7300 and based on pershoots P7500 repo. Used the same proprietary files as in the P7310 version except for the ril lib.

EDIT1: About GPL
As you can see @andyharney has checked sources and reopened all closed threads.
Kernel sources were available on GitHub FOR A MONTHS.
And YES, kernel wasn't modified since CM9 RC2. It's the same old kernel.
Here comes the link: https://github.com/MaclawStudios/android_kernel_maclawstudios
You can also apply 2.6.35.7 to 2.6.35.14 patch if you want: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=779403&d=1321023939
Also, I noticed that some of you are doing everything to destroy our work, and that's why we aren't publishing device profile sources. By the way we don't have to do this. We've developed device profile from scratch on closed license and we just won't publish it, just like Samsung. You can still use our old device profile or Jellaxy one.
EDIT2: About Deep Sleep in Beta 3
I noticed some people experiencing issue with deep sleep after installing the update. If you are affected by bug, please turn off Google location services. We’ll try to fix it in next release.
EDIT3: About something called "Seeder"
Please, don't use famous app/hack called "Seeder". We did a quick research and /dev/random isn't used in android frameworks anywhere. Seeder will improve performance ONLY in some custom apps or cryptography functions, and that's why... we've integrated seeder tweaks in beta3. Installing "Seeder" would only decrease your phone's performance because it will work in background and waste your RAM.
EDIT4: Bugtracker
Please, use bugtracker if you want to report a bug:
https://github.com/MaclawStudios/aosp/issues

they are working on both ICS and JB , and it will be released shortly.............
We will release AOSP JB when all issues in ICS will be fixed.
Great job, but IMO ICS>JB, so why waste time on ICS when JB is better?
I'd love to see fully working AOSP JB or AOKP JB.
@edit
Yeah, it should be JB>ICS
I was kinda confused.
Will you be opensource?

OmniROM 4.4 for GT-I9300

Requirements:
- CWM Touch 6.0.3.2+ or latest TWRP (if you have a metadata error when flashing, you're using a wrong recovery!)
- Knowledge about Android installation
- A brain
- Hands (Note: a thorough study had shown that no both hands are required for the process)
Downloads
Nightly builds:
http://dl.omnirom.org/i9300
GApps:
Use PA-gapps in the meantime:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
First installation:
- Download gapps and the latest nightly build
- Reboot to recovery
- Flash the nightly build then gapps
- WIPE DATA!!!
- Reboot and enjoy your KitKat
Updates:
OmniROM should pop-up notifications about new nightlies being available.
Changelog:
https://changelog.omnirom.org/#/i9300/next
Known device specific issues:
- Device does not enumerate on USB if booted up while connected to PC.
- Headphones playback path gets nuked if using microphone while listening to music. (Requires reconnecting headset)
- HWC module is a dummy piece of crap, thanks to Samsung openess thing. Needs reimplementation or big batch of fixes.
FAQ:
Q: Why do I get error code 7 when trying to flash ?
A: Because you are using old recovery. Update to the latest TWRP.
Q: Why is there a link for nightlies and for test builds?
A: Test builds got patches cherrypicked in that aren't tested well enough yet to be merged.
Warning 1: Mobile data connection is enabled by default.
Warning 2: Remember to BACKUP your data.

thank you @XpLoDWilD for this feature. :good:
PA gapps of 4.4 I suppose?
Well , beside Camera/video issues there is UI lags/stutters and lack of custumization features.
Its a good start anyway
And btw, no multiwindow
PA Gapps 4.4 ODEX are needed for ART.
@XpLoDWilD : Is root working in ART?
EDIT:
Ok, root is working in ART but I had to flash chainfire root package
Thx XploDWilD for porting and new Thread.....
for me work all fin, but the data is very slow, 20 min for one download from Playstore......
I have low signal and a little ui laggy
Is it possible to install with TWRP?
cant get it to flash. Keep getting the status 7 error. i'm on the right recovery and downloaded the file over 20 times now.

It was the same metadata error. I got it fixed now. I flashed CWM 3.0.4.4. Now it works perfectly! Thanks!
Flash cwm-supersu-v0.96 and no root acces . No root problem with other 4.4 maybe tomorrow . Big kif for omni . THX .
I also have low signal :/
These GApps should work: www.mediafire.com/download/a84xzwn0w5lplhz/pa_gapps-modular-full-4.4-20131111-signed.zip
I haven't tested though as I'm about to flash this ROM coming from teksek's CM11 rom (WiFi doesn't work on his rom)
Low signal
Very laggy ui
Camera almost not usable (I think you should really focus 90% of your i9300 work on camera because even if everything else is perfect camera is still a deal breaker for most of the people)
Video playback impossible
Very low customization
Graphics glitch out when using default browser
Laggy 3D games
Im not going to lie to you , im kinda dissapointed , but then again I know its hard to do anything on exynos so thanks for even trying!
Waiting for new builds !
apex launcher works nicely on this build (12112013)
thanx again

Low signal : It's just a display issue
Very laggy UI : Uhm, video needed, because it's smooth as sweet here
Camera not usable is written in the Known issues section...
Video playback, same, written already
Low customization, we just started our alpha, just wait for a few builds
Graphics glitch: Video needed too. Default browser works like a charm here, zero glitch browsing AndroidPolice.com.
Laggy 3D games: Same as above. Video, or list an example game so I can test.
I'm running the same build as you (nightly), and have none of the bug you listed (that weren't known).
The signal is not low. Its a bug with the display of it. Its reading out a wrong value, currently its like 211424242 dBm and not even changing, just a visual bug
edit: lol, posted way too late

This is essentially the same rom as we published for the A200 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2693179 and here: http://www.acertabletforum.com/forum/acer-a200-roms/10043-rom-a200-omnirom-kitkat-4-4-2-a.html
We have now modified our sources to support also the A500!
Why Omnirom, and not Cyanogenmod ?
Google , through AOSP repository, has dropped support for the Tegra 2 platform. The Tegra 2 does not support the 'neon' instruction set, and more importantly relies on a set of old (ICS) proprietary hardware libraries. AOSP has dropped support for both non-neon devices and the older hardware libraries.
Cyanogenmod has decided to follow AOSP on this and has dropped Tegra 2 support since CM-10.2. With CM-10.2 the differences were not yet very big and could be overcome. But with CM-11 it has become an unreasonably large effort to add Tegra 2 support.
Only Omnirom, for now, has included the forward-ported code in its repository to support machines like Acer A500
How to install
Recovery
To flash this rom, it's necessary to have a recent recovery (at least CWM 6.0.4.4 or TWRP 2.6.3.1) having Selinux capabilities.
Otherwise the flash operation fails with status 0 or status 7. There are also some problems installing GApps with Thor's recovery v.1.8.1.
We recommend using CWM 6.0.4.5 by nelsontky: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2583710
Flashing
Boot in recovery mode to flash the KitKat Rom.
First, don't forget to execute a 'Wipe Data/Factory reset'
Flash the KitKat Rom
Flash the Minimal Gapps
Do a 'wipe cache partition'
Flash the SuperSU zip file if you need it
Flash the Netflix fix if you need it
And reboot System !
Be patient on first boot... There's a lot of background work to do, before coming to the 'Welcome' screen. Don't worry if you are stuck with a black screen for several minutes. Next boot will be much faster.
After first configuration, it's recommended to reboot the tablet to avoid some unstabilities after 1st boot.
Enjoy KitKat !

GApps are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
For the A200 the Pico package is the only one that is small enough so we generally recommend that. The A500 has more space in the system partition and should be able to use the larger packages as well.
SuperSU is here: (needed only if you wish to have a full rooted access)
SuperSU is needed for root, get the latest CWM flashable zip from here:
[2014.02.06] SuperSU v1.93 - xda-developers
Netflix fix for builds 1-4 (not needed for build 5) is here: netflixfix.zip
Flash in recovery. It will just copy this simple script to init.d. It is run during boot and changes a setting in the Netflix configuration to use a player backend that works with the Tegra 2. This is a workaround for a bug in Netflix that makes it choose a video player backend that is incompatible with the Tegra 2. The config file is created the first time Netflix is started, so the very first time you start Netflix it will force close. After that, reboot, and then Netflix should work.
Remember : in all cases, it's a good idea to make a backup before installing!
We're not responsible, in any way, if you brick your tablet!
Big thanks to:
- the Omnirom team
- pjsports for the A500 JB kernel and device tree
- nelsontky for building the recovery
- and everyone else that has been working on the Iconia A500 / A200!
The kernel, and the device tree are available at GitHub: IconiaHD Github

I'd really prefer to see someone port a clean working copy of CyanogenMod 11 to this device, personally. the TegraOwners team already has a working port of OmniRom on the A500, which is a little laggy, but otherwise fully functional(including netflix, sound recorder, etc.)

Well then why not try doing it yourself?
The main idea with this rom is to provide an open source alternative for the A500. Not everyone appreciates the closed source policy at the "other forum".
sorry, I sort of worded my post a little harshly and it came out wrong.
I'm actually plenty happy to see an alternative to their roms, and to see that someone is working on the A500 at all.
I meant to say that although it's nice to see, I would personally rather see someone try to port it(even if it's a failed attempt, and post their results so others can try and help out), even though it's a lot of work and a lot harder than AOSP at the moment.
Unfortunately I don't have the knowledge or skills to get any rom working on any device. I've even tried compiling roms before, and failed. Maybe someday!

Ok no problem. We actually did try to build CM first. But we could never get it to display the user interface because of the missing support for our graphics libraries. When we realized how big the effort would be to get it working, and that support was already available in OmniROM, we switched. I don't know about Thor, but I'm guessing his reason for switching to omni were similar.
Our sources for cm11 are on github, in branch "cm11" and only in the a200 device tree. It's a fair bit behind the OmniROM version now though. It would be better to take the omnirom branch and modify it back to CM format. The differences between CM and Omni device trees are not very big.
Edit: I should add that the challenging part would be to modify the CM android_frameworks_av and android_frameworks_native packages to add support for the tegra2 libraries. There alse seems to be a quite new bug in the CM build system that makes it compile in neon instructions even when it shouldn't.
Prefer anything over CM, thanks! I'll have to reroot since I upgraded to the latest version of ICS. I'll report back any issues.

Henrik & the team, many thanks for your efforts. I never thought Kitkat would ever reach the shores of the A500. I thought all Rom support had all but ended.

Nice work, I thought for sure that we would never see 4.4 on an A500. I have it flashed and running. I tried Netflix and it force closes. Also the video recording doesn't work.

Thanks for the report! Which app did you use to test video recording?
I used the stock app.
Wow KK! Time to dig out my old A500
Is this overclocked?

Yes, overclocking is included. You just have to enable it in the developer options.
I found a workaround for Netflix here: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_hardkernel_odroidu2/blob/cm-10.2/conf/98netflix
It seems to work also on this rom, it displays the interface now instead of just closing. But nobody in the team has a Netflix account so we haven't been able to get further than that. I made a simple flashable zip to install the fix. Simply flash it in the recovery. It will just copy one file, and not touch anything else. The download link is in the first post.
Flashed and it worked. I was able to stream and all good. Awesome!

USB Device Not Recognized
Hey everyone,
Sorry if this is a dumb question... I just picked up an A500 tonight, and can't get the USB drivers to work. Specifically, when I plug in the cable I get "USB Device Not Recognized". As a result, I can't get into boot loader mode, etc. I downloaded the Acer driivers, the Universal Android Drivers, etc, and it does the same for all of them. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Mandy

And on what rom are you currently?

[ROM][HD+] Slim-ovation-5.1.alpha.0.1-UNOFFICIAL

I decided to put up or shut up.
Alpha is in the title, but I guess I will call this first version a developer preview edition.
Thanks goes to Hashcode, without whose original work, this would not be possible.

I haven't had much time to play with it (no zram script, etc). I expect to improve this some with time.

I'm sure everyone knows what kernel I used and where to find the latest source...
BUT, this is what you want.

I will post complete kernel and device source within a day or so for whoever wants to build this.

Is it Christmas already? Will be testing this ASAP
Setting it up now, so far so good. It seems to have fixed the audio issue with Amaces CM12, where keyboard sounds aren't affected by volume. Will keep updating as I use it.
Getting some graphical glitches when rotating the screen, and a few missing items in the Settings window, but not too bad so far.
There is a frustratingly large number of settings missing, compared to CM12, from status bar options to the power menu. Hopefully, these can be added later on.
Given a little time, I think I can fix the rotation graphics glitches.
(I'm going to try some omapfb/dss kernel boot arguments and try to get rotation out of system/build.prop).
There's lots of other little things to play with.
Noticed it won't retain my wi-fi password through a reboot.
I had read something about a new secure storage container to retain secrets?
Settings... I'm sure that's slimrom's "slimming"...
The graphics side of things held me up for a long time. That's mainly what I'm concerned about right now.
As promised, here's a source dump and another test build.

If anyone wants to build this and be added to the contributor list, let me know....
It shouldn't take too much to polish it up.
I'd love to, but when it comes to baking my own ROM, I'm very much the nubcake. I WILL offer my hardware to be a test subject though. I have a spare on hand that is not a daily driver.
I will go ahead to say that at first glance, it is very smooth, and responsive. I'll give it a couple days, see how it does as if used as normal, and work from there.
I tried to flash this, but it seems to have an endless boot. I waited about 30 minutes and lost patience. Do I need to flash something else first, like extracting the boot.img? At one point, I wiped everything including cache, system, data, internal sd, and had a pretty blank slate. I am using TWRP 2.8.7.0 and 2.8.7.1. Also tried f2fs on cache and data and ext4. I must be missing something.
Was going to ask which device until o read the list you have. M8 s a on CE phone, I love mine with the same ROM! I don't know why it would not boot fornyou though, unless you have system set to f2fs by mistake, as this ROM does not support it on system like @amaces does. Maybe if younused his, and hopped to this one, that little bit was overlooked?
Here's what I got so far: when changing between land scape, and portrait there is some graphical distortion, and a touch of lag which clears up after about a second. There is no advanced reboot option, and when I sure down, it reboots instead. When multitasking, there is a general UI lag which clears up spoon after., and it does not save WiFi information so you have to reenter WiFi information after every boot. So far, aside from slims slimming causing a desire for menu options, and theming, this is all I found.
Is this in continued development?

No, unless someone wants to take over. Basically it was an experiment for me to see if graphics in lollipop could match that of cm10(.2). In short the answer is they can't... (without a ducati upgrade).
The other reasons are twofold. First, the lollipop browser completely sucks (I know, there's alternatives).
Lastly, I don't believe I would ever achieve the level of performance as I have with my yellow kernel 10.2 ROM (which is my daily driver), this again is related to the ducati.
I would like to take another stab at a kitkat ROM and see if I can incorporate some of the stuff I have picked up recently.
I would have updated liquidsmooth, but they have already pulled kitkat source. So I am debating which ROM repo to use (I'm thinking probably Carbon 4.4? Tabletui is important to me...)
Hey Jon, I'm excited to hear you might be building a Kit Kat ROM. Would like to try one that has your improvements such as no screen flicker and still be able to use screen casting. Looking forward to your build.
