If the devs were REALLY any good, they'd already be working on the source AS IT BEING PUSHED.

It doesn't matter... I know he was joking... you know he was joking... but the 1000 noobs that are going to come once word spreads...... that's a different story. And posts like these only serve to muddy the waters. My 2 cents as a Dev.

That was only worth 1 cent. Where is my change?

Today is a very very awesome day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO MORE ISOLATION FOR US HONEYCOMB USERS
More apps more stability more customization and maybe just maybe cm9 im so happy
Also i think icecream will be alot nicer for the devs to mod atleast when it comes to tablets. In saying that though what roach has done with prime is amazing and i cant wait to see what he can do with aosp!!!

Fair enough!
On a different note, I really hope it's called CM8 and not CM9... Has there been any official statement concerning the name?

Wow, it's been a whole 5 hours and still no ICS custom rom. What good is android if I can't get the newest version now?
Off to the ipad 2 I go!

It's CM9. CM8 would've been Honeycomb, but obviously the source was never released.

There's a reason I asked for an official source ... I read an article yesterday that said Obama was pregnant with Palin's love child, but I haven't seen anything posted on rumors.gov...
On a more serious note, CM numbering has not matched Android versioning directly, but rather has been incremental, which is why I say that there's a chance the ICS version could be CM8, since a honeycomb version doesn't and won't exist.

Wonder what devs can do with this, next couple of months will be exciting
Wonder what the CyanogenMod devs are going to say/have said about this source

Ok,now don't jump down my throat I'm just asking about something I don't totally understand lol.......
I'm only semi excited about ICS on wildfire because I don't understand fully so can someone enlighten me.
ICS source has been released and its been quoted many times by many members that this will not run on wildfire due to its processor. If however someone(s) manage this task then,
1.what does ICS bring to us that we don't have already?
2. Will in all honesty this not be a resource/system and battery hungry eater due to it never ideally supposedly to be for wildfire?
I'm at work and don't have the availabilities/time to search these queeries.regards as always slymobi.

Adobe announced that they have one more build release to add support for 4.0, but that will be it (aside from standard bug and security fixes I suppose).
http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/21/flash-for-android-not-quite-dead-yet-will-land-on-ice-cream-san/
Who knows if this will change in the future, but if any Android release in the future breaks this compatibility that might be it for Flash on mobile devices altogether.

It's actually a huge detail. I for one will be happy just to see ICS, but ICS will pale in comparison to CM9.
Why wouldn't it be a cm build? The only reason we don't have one right now was because of the source not being released for honeycomb and cm doesn't downgrade devices. Shoot, cyanogen now works for Samsung, so they'd have a business incentive to get ics on the gt10.1 fast (albiet unofficially) considering it's their flagship tablet.

When do we get ICS update for acer a500?

I'm waiting for ICS update from acer. Could somebody tell me the time when it starts updating to ICS? If there's an unofficial way to make it happen, please inform me about it. Thank you.
Sent from my A500 using xda premium
Probably 6 months. It will be on the newly released tablets first. Then, sometime later, it will be officially pushed to current owners.
But then again, nobody really knows except the manufacturers.
Experimental Roms, will be out before then. But NOBODY is going to personally contact you. You'll have to check the dev threads on your own
As of right now Acer has not made any announcements regarding ICS to the A500 tablets. But like it was previously said, doesn't mean we wont hear about it in a few months.
AHHHH its all over the net.. acer has said mid January. But that does mean for sure we will get it then.. they always seem to be a bit behind..AS far as the dev of rom in this forum..
I hope i am wrong but seems they are stuck with driver issue for GPS CAMERA AND CAMCORDER.. AS well as a few other things.. I think these are proprietary to the acer tablet. this could make us have to wait for acer to release a rom or drivers specific for this tablet .
so as said about . NOBODY REALLY HAS ANY IDEA. Blazing and his team are working very hard i would say send him some pay pal help..As we all have done.. .
READ THE forum before asking a question so common as this one. its been answered a Billion times in the last few months..

When Are We Getting a Better Working Sense 4 and Android 4 ROMs?

At this point, things that don't work are the things I need to work. Nothing has changed for nearly two months now, so I'm just curious.
the impatience and greed around here is unbelievable...
if you want something to be fully working and perfect, you gotta make it yourself. plus rushing things isn't gonna do any good at all. it will come, just be patient... be glad we even have a Sense 4 ROM...
Dude, seriously, it was a question. That's it. Not a complaint, not impatience, and not greed. The assumptions of others on this forum is what is really unbelievable. I knew that some joker would answer back like that.
Saranhai is part of the team that brings a lot of ROM's to this device. He is probably a little frustrated that it seems like is never good enough, or fast enough for people. Your question may have been honest and purely innocent, but with the way things have been around here lately his reaction is somewhat understandable.
Several devs are hard at work on sense 4 kernels and the camera. When they have a usable fix, it will be released. If you want to add to their resolve you could always donate

I'm patiently waiting too. And so you know, I'm posting this in a good mood, not frustrated or being smart. But from what I understand is its basically at a standstill until devs can get the necassary kernel to get the camera working. It's not that they are being slow..they simply don't have what's needed to accomplish it. And I may be entirely wrong..that's just what I have been thinking.

Take it at face value MF. It's my fault that you put your own thoughts into a simple question? Seriously, it's all too common on XDA for people to needlessly attack others on the basis that people are too sensitive.
See the answer that JJ gave? That's all that we needed. I wanted to know the issues the devs were facing? If anything I was concerned, because I've never seen something give this kind of trouble on this phone. We all appreciate the works that devs do. We all act like kids in a candy store for the work that devs do.

The issue is that there's no HTC official kernel source for any "sister" devices - DHD/DS, and they didn't get the HTC ICS update either. Without the kernel source, devs have to use kernel source from other, less compatible devices to compile the kernel, and the binary drivers from those devices don't match the HW. There are no skilled enough and/or willing enough devs to dig in the kernel code and rewrite the API towards the drivers to match the older, working drivers from Gingerbread (that's what was done back in Gingerbread release time), mostly because it's a huge work that brings almost no benefits - the official code is likely to be better anyway, and its release will most likely be closer to this point in time than the shortest time required for "enthusiast" work.

I think in layman terms, that means if someone attempted to rewrite source code to match the h/w in the Glacier, by the time they would finish, better & more compatible code would be here anyway. So its best, at this point, to just wait patiently?
