[Q] Switching from HD2 Mango to a real WP7 phone? - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hi.
I recently dropped my HD2 and as a result, the screen is shattered although the insides work. My phone is running the 7720 Back to the Future ROM.
I've decided to buy a real Windows Phone (probably the Titan) and I was wondering, was there anyway I could make a backup of my HD2 and transfer it to the new phone? If not, is there a manual way I can transfer app settings and files to the new phone?
Thanks.

Hi There.
I think that, when you activate your new Phone with the activation code from the HD 2,your Contacts and Apps will automaticly loaded to the new Phone.Because WP7 is based on cloud system. That means, all Data like contacts,Apps, pictures are stored in the cloud sealed with your own Activation Code.I´ve read that you could use 5 WP7 Devices with 1 Activation Code at same time. And all Devices have the same config.

Bought software, move from 1 hero to another?

Ok, heres the situation.
I have a Hero and I'm looking at changing it for another one. Will my software (CoPilot) transfer from one device to the other without me having to pay again?
Pretty sure it will - set up the phone with the same google account, then when you find Co-pilot in the app store it should recognise that you have already bought it an let you install it again.
And, if you are getting a black T-Mobile one like you were looking for, you can let me know if the bluetooth still works ok
Copilot is the best software to use if you switch devices. You have to deactivate if from the software on the Hero first, the reactivate it on your new Hero device. You may have to call Copilot with you Google order number as well.
I had Copilot 7. I changed devices weekly, monthly from WM to symbian, and just deactivated from phone and activated on new phone.

SIM Card Swap Issue - PLEASE HELP.

Please I do not know where to post this question for help, but since this is the ROM I am using, I figured I should ask here first.
OK here is my scenario: I had an old sim card I Was using frokm a Company that was later bought by T-mobile. Some of my contacts stayed on the SIM, and I wanted to have them synced with the google contacts so I could get them all together. So I put the old deactivated SIM card back in my old mytouch and imported the contacts into my google account, and then put the New Sim card into the mytouch to get data sync , and get the contacts onto the server. For some odd reason, I put the old SIM into my HD2 (7), and now the phone is deactivated and asking me for the Activation code.
Mind you, this does nto scare me because I have my activation code. What scares me is that my emails are gone, text are all gone,, and most things are greyed out.
Is this a Security Feature by Windows Phone 7? If so, how do I recover my texts especially back? There business documents, contacts, all that gone.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP.
Put the card you used to set up WP7 back into the phone and all should be well. WP7 uses the card as core RAM and does not distinguish between card and phone storage. If I understand you correctly, you have effectively taken away a big chunk of the phone's OS and replaced it with an empty (for the purposes of WP7) card.
Reactivate the phone and maybe you will be fine. I guess this is an anti theft feature of WP7. Go to your live account on your PC and check the status of the phone.

I would have thought that should work, and that it how it should be, but NO. The phone wiped out everything. Including my Music. This is a feature that is badly implemented. What if someone has 2 SIM cards and they travel out of the country and want to switch sims? So, it just wipes out all their Data?
I am so sad at this point I don't know how to feel. None of those texts were even backed up anywhere, including my created documents.
well that's odd, I have two sim cards from a different provider that I swap quite frequently and they work just fine
Just tested a SIM swap and it works on my HD2 too. Seems your problem is different.

[Q] HTC HD2 wm6.5 tethering to xoom

Hi everyone.
I'm really not too good with this, but any help would be great.
I've an original htc hd2 that I want my Xoom to connect to the internet with.
The HD2 is running WM6.5, so i was gonna have a go at the android on the memorycard. But have found the usb on my phone don't work for data, it just charges it. I've looked about and seen the tread on this but seems like a sending back to HTC and expensive repair job to me. And as i don't remember installing any roms or have root that i know of i think i've had it.
Does anyone know if I can install/run android strait from a memory card?
Or is there a wm6.5 program i can install so the xoom can connect?
Or should I just get the phone repaired/ buy a cheep android phone?( any suggestions)
A big thank you to any one who gives me any of there time.
Arty

Unable to run Network Profile

Hi Guys
I've recently received by omnia 7 back from an authorised samsung repair centre. During the repair they replaced the mainboard.
Previously I could run network profile without any issues. The original phone was purchased outright from allphones (branded optus).
Since getting the phone back though I can get network profile to work. It simply loads the 'clock' loading screen, and then returns to the app list. I've tried resetting, hard reseting, upgrading to mango beta, rtm, and back down to nodo. No luck. Currently running offical mango which was pushed out to my phone through zune (using the force trick)
Any ideas why network profile isn't working anymore? I've called the repair center who don't know anything. The phone isn't locked as such as I can connect to make phone called and use 3g.
It's really pissing me off! I want to use MMS!! Could it be a rom issue?
If you're Chevron unlocked, you could try the ADC present in Samsung Tools or Advanced Configuration Tool
Thanks Lumic
I'm not chevron - is it difficult to unlock the Mango build? I understand you need to unlock at the earlier version and then upgrade. Do you know a good site for tutorials for 1) getting the unlock 2) modifying the MMS settings. I might give it a go.
For other readers - I'm reluctant to stuff around with the phone anymore - its how it ended up back at the repair centre in the first place so I would prefer to try another option if anyone knows one.
Alrite, I'm not sure if anyone else knows a non-unlocked way. I Chevron unlocked before NoDo (I don't think it's possible on NoDo / Mango) and carried it across to RTM. If someone has a better option, you should go with their.
If you're actually interested in going back to pre-NoDo and losing all your settings, I'd be happy to walk you through the flash and unlock. There are also tools that force the ADC (Auto Data Config) to run, which solved my MMS problems.
No problems with wiping the phone. I've done it about 4 times in the past two weeks. Everything is stored in clouds anyway.
Thanks very much for the offer to walk through it - I'd certainly be interested in it. Will I be able to install the official Mango update for zune using the force trick though? I've had some problems with skydrive using RTM.
Oh just a quick note that I have a developer account and therefore legitimately can unlock my handset for developer use. Does that make it easier to perform the required actions?
Quick note guys - I was able to fix the issue by following this thread here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271963&highlight=unlock
I've got developer unlock so I just used that and then followed the above and ran the Advance Config Tool as suggested there and MMS works perfectly again.

[Q] HELP! Talk, text and data not working with new TmoUs account.

Hello I am experiencing a BIG problem . I Successfully flashed a Nand rom to my phone last year it worked great but after some shortcomings I could no longer afford my pay as you go plan. My phone service had been cut off for about 7 months until yesterday, since it was off so long I had to get a new Tmobile(us) account/SIM card. My phone booted up in android as normal with full 3G service bars but when I went to make a call it said "This Carrier will not allow phone calls to this number" shocked I went back to Tmobile to make sure my account was active and it was. My text also do not work and I cannot sign into my gmail account either. Ive searched the web and it does not seem that anyone has a solution to this problem PLEASE help me !!
Did you try reflashing it?
There are a few things that could be going on here:
1. tmobile has you on the wrong data plan which has happened to me in the past. The had me on a blackberry plan which messed up a lot but you should still be able to make calls.
2. You have a balance left over on that phone and tmobile has locked that phone
3. you need a new sim card. tmobile will gladly change out your sim for a new one for free
4: something is going on with Android on your phone.
I would talk to Tmobile again and ask for a new sim or go in the store and see if the sim you have will work in one of their phones. If it does then you know its
something with your phone. I would kind of start over just to clear up any problems. Start with making a back up of anything you dont want lost, including your
sd card. Then repartition your phone/sd to what the ROM you want to use needs. Reinstall MAGLDR and cwm and finally the ROM you want to use. See if that
helps at all. If i had to take a guess it could be something as simple as the simcard is messed up but without having them try it in another phone or you trying
it in another phone you wont know for sure. I know it seems like a lot but reinstalling this stuff should clear up if its your phone or your sim thats messing up.
Before you blame Android, flash your phone with stock WM 6.5 rom. If you still can't make calls or get any data, take the phone to a T-Mobile store and have them figure it out.
