Bought software, move from 1 hero to another? - Hero, G2 Touch General

Ok, heres the situation.
I have a Hero and I'm looking at changing it for another one. Will my software (CoPilot) transfer from one device to the other without me having to pay again?

Pretty sure it will - set up the phone with the same google account, then when you find Co-pilot in the app store it should recognise that you have already bought it an let you install it again.
And, if you are getting a black T-Mobile one like you were looking for, you can let me know if the bluetooth still works ok

Copilot is the best software to use if you switch devices. You have to deactivate if from the software on the Hero first, the reactivate it on your new Hero device. You may have to call Copilot with you Google order number as well.
I had Copilot 7. I changed devices weekly, monthly from WM to symbian, and just deactivated from phone and activated on new phone.

Copilot Deactivation

(sorry this if this is in the wrong place , but the original device was a Uni )
I had copilot 6 installed on my MDA Pro , I sold (& formatted ) the MDA ,but kept the Card with Co-pilot on it , thinking I could use it in the event that I got a new WM device
Well , that day has now come (bought an Ameo ) and I have tried to install Co pilot on there , but it wants me to deactivate it on the old device !
I obviously cannot do this , as I no longer own the device , and even If I could get to it ... copilot was removed anyway !
Anyone encountered this problem before ?
Yes me!!
I damaged my phone and had a new one sent. I can deactivate it for obvious reasons. I've asked Copilot support but had no reply yet!
Any ideas anyone!?
Things like deactivation of software should be printed in big letters before anything else on software. I get very p....off with things like that. You pay hard earned money and if your hardware gets damaged or you forget this small detail and format your hardware some companies don't care at all. They've got your money, now it is your problem. They treat you like s*&*!
In this case TomTom gives a better customer service because you can register more than one device with the licence without deactivating it. I had once an Axim and the Universal both with the same TomTom licence that came with the Axim without any problem. There are companies that work with a concurrency policy, so you can install on different equipment as long as you don't use them simultaneously.
It is not a solution for your problem but I feel your pain! Been there, done that.
Did you activate it via email? Did you keep the activation email by any chance? Or was it done online through the hardware? If it was done via email, you could try and see if you could send and email back deactivating it. Just an idea.

BB Connect?? When/how?

HTC made a big deal about 5 devices having BB Connect, but the Diamond2 which IMHO is the best looking device HTC has released has no BB Connect.
Has anyone got it working with other cabs?? I have tried several but the issue seems to be the WM6.1?
Am I the only one
I had a lot of problems with BB and my previous HD. Now I'm still waiting for my diamond 2 so I can't test... Have you tried with the 4.0.0.103? (you can find it here http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?entry_id=276 )
Yeah, tried all sorts... always hard resetting be trying another to be on the safe side, sim is out of my BB and have got working on my TYYN2 before so no issues ion the plan side etc. Just the device
I'm looking for a BB Connect solution as well.
The .103 cab installs fine for me, but it won't actually connect to the BB server.
Don't know if it's the app not working, or if it's my carrier.
I suspect my carrier only supports true BlackBerry phones, and not BB Connect, as I wasn't able to register my BB Connect PIN/IMEI on the config site. It will only register the other BlackBerrys I have.
I've been through the cycle of trying to get the right bbconnect software to work with the right device every time HTC give us a new release.... there are various reasons why some versions do and do not work but often the solution is patience and waiting for the right software, but occasionally its just a matter of getting the most up to date version - This is the >>LINK<< to version 106 - HTC's latest sponsored version at the moment - it works perfectly on the Touch HD and so "may" work on the D2 - I would suggest a clean install rather than an "upgrade".....
Let us know how you get on? If it doesnt work we can look at other solutions such as registry tweaks and HKLM adjustments...
Good luck

I tried the 106 on a "clean" install without luck... the device shows the dreaded pin pending!
What exactly is BB Connect? I looked it up on google Blackberry services on non blackberry device? To use it I assume you'd have to be on a Blackberry contract?

BB Connect is software used with a number of Non BB devices, WM devices, Nokia Devices, all sorts.... I have used it over many years, but the challenge is always with a new device. And right now it does not want to work with the Topaz
spent last night hacking/tweaking but still no luck... come on HTC get it sorted!
Managed to get my TD2 to connect and return a PIN number today using 4.0.0.106, although it doesn't seem to be working now
Ran 4.0.0.106 on my Kaiser (on T-Mobile UK) and it worked fine, moved to O2 and it looks like it could be a problem
Anyone managed to use an HTC handset (unlocked) on O2email via WM 6.1 ?
i am missing the pin although I have been getting an IP Address??

Looking into getting a Wizard

Right now I have a T-Mobile dash, known as HTC Excalibur. I do llike the phone, however I have had it for three years and I just found out that the USB port on the phone looses contact and makes the phone difficult to charge.
I want to get another HTC smartphone running Windows Mobile, with Querty Keyboard. The phone must be able to sync to ms Outlook, and read/edit ms Word & Excel files. Also the phone MUST run off a SIM card.
I was looking around and I can get HTC Wizard for $140 on ebay. Is the wizard a good phone or should I look elsewhere? I dont want to spend more than $150...
The Wizard seems like a good deal for $140 new... Here is the link to the ebay auction; LINK --> http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-HTC-MDA-UNL...UFI%2BIIUM%2BP%2BUA%2BUCI&otn=11&po=LVI&ps=54
I am also in the same situation, I was offered a Wizard for US$80 2nd hand but in perfect order with no scratches (from a standard fone user, not a gadgt-freak ).
I asked here if it was a good deal, i had to hurry.. so I bought it anyway.
I would buy this phone for sure, I think it is very cheap for a new phone.
oops, wrote that twice.. sorry

Is the AT&T Pure the Topaz?

I just switched to AT&T from Verizon and purchased the HTC Pure. Is this the same as the Topaz? I thought the Pure was the next gen of the Touch Diamond2.
Also, if you know, does GPS work out the box or would I need to update the Radio and ROM? I don't have the phone just yet because I ordered it a few hours ago, but I want to know because I have a month to test it out and see if I want to keep it.
I came from having an HTC Titan for quite some time so I'm pretty used to flashing new ROM and such, but I don't want to mess with the new phone too much in those first 30 days -incase I need to return it.
Thanks.
The Pure is a re-cased Topaz. Hardware (internal) wise they are identical. It's AT&T's brand name (Like the Himalaya being an XDAII on O2, MDA 1000 on Orange).
The Tilt 2 is the HTC Touch Pro 2.
The GPS should work out the box with Google Maps. You'll need to install mapping software if you want voice prompts etc.
Shiny!
So Is there a TomTom app for the phone (possibly free)?
Also how good of a reception would you say the FM radio gets?

CoPilot Help

I've done a stupid thing and I don't know of a way to sort it.
Basically I think I formatted the memory card that came with the phone before putting in the replacement card I already had. Trouble is I believe the CoPilot maps and so forth were on it. Now I can't use the 15 day trial, just comes up with "error downloading" when trying to get it working. The program launches, it just (of course) won't open the maps.
I can't find a way of downloading them from the CoPilot website without paying for a licence (pointless as I want to try before I buy) and Virgin (my provider) can't help. My only hope is HTC themselves who I shall ring tomorrow.
So my question is. Has anyone else done this and sorted it? Alternatively, is there a way of downloading the map/s (legally) without having to buy the licence?
I'm doubting anyone is as stupid as me, but you never know
You can download the U.K and Ireland maps from here and copy the folder to your memory card.
https://copilotlive8.s3.amazonaws.com/8.0.0.557_UK_Ireland_Card_Image.zip
I don't know how you found that but I googled like my life depended on it last night and found nothing!
Thanks.
Copilot Licence issues
I have two HTC HD2 phones that came with Co-Pilot 8 on them. I purchased a licence for the Aus/NZ maps for my first one amd I was able to activate my original device and Co-Pilot works fine.
Purchased a second phone recently and thought I'd try the old key but it failed to validate. So I purchased a new set of maps for the 2nd HD2 but the phone now has the old key in it and won't let me activate via the new key - it comes up with Error 806.
At the moment I can't get the 2nd phone running as it just keeps rejecting all entries.
Does anyone know a registry edit to remove the activation? I think I've found something but thought I would seek more knowledgeable people!!! Don't want to have to re-rom the phone to get it going again.
