It is in both the Android Market and Amazon Market so it works with other Android tablets. As for ROMs, it would be like any other app.

Fire OS 4.0

Amazon have release the new fire os 4.0 with the new kindle fire hdx 8.9.
Fire os 4.0 is based on android 4.4.
Do you think we will get this update as well?
According to an article over at arstechnica, we will (http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014...k-new-e-reader-beefed-up-hdx-tablet-keyboard/ ).
"Along with the new Fire tablets comes a new version of Amazon's "Fire OS," dubbed 4.0 "Sangria." Sangria is based on Android 4.4 KitKat and has little more than user-experience refinements. These include ASAP (Advanced Streaming and Prediction), which pre-loads content that Amazon predicts the user will play, as well as Smart Suspend, which detects when the tablet is not in use and turns off the Wi-Fi to save battery. The new version of the OS will ship on all 4th-generation Fire tablets and will be available to 3rd-generation tablets as a free over-the-air software update."

And if you read a little further, it says:
Amazon will continue to offer the Fire HDX 7 for $199, though it will not receive the 4.0 Fire OS update until "later this year."
So hoping that it comes sooner rather than later.
Won't be taking that update most likely. Gotten used to having Google services on my hdx and won't risk losing it until I know for sure if there's root
According to ever article I read, we'll absoultely get it. "In the coming weeks". Exciting!

You can already get it on the HDX 7.

Fire for kids unlimited on an android tablet. Change a android into a fire for kids ?

Hello
I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction please.
I'm in the UK and can't install Amazon free time as it's not available over here. I did download the apk but because it's an UK Amazon account it chucks up an error.
When you buy a kindle fire for kids it comes with fire for kids unlimited preloaded.
I just got a Lenovo tab E10 for my kid and already have a subscription to Amazon kids unlimited and want to use it on the new tablet.
A. Is there a way of installing and using kids unlimited in the UK or B. Can I install a kindle ROM on the e10, will it be stable and if so which ROM would be best to use ?
Many thanks
Jeff
Amazon's Fire OS is a custom OS (forked android) specifically for the Fire Tablets. It won't work on another device.

Osmo Apps from the Amazon AppStore

Osmo makes interactive and educational games for kids (see here: https://www.playosmo.com/en/) and they say that they are only compatible with iPads and Fire Tablets. I'm not an Apple guy but I have many Android tablets. I'm also not a real fan of Amazon tablets, but I have some of them. I've looked all over the web for the Osmo apk files so that I can run their stuff on other Android tablets, but I can't find them anywhere. They're only available in the Amazon appstore, and it's pretty locked down. I've installed the appstore on my other tablets, but because those tablets are not "registered" devices, or approved devices, the Osmo apps are not available in the appstore on those devices.
The main apps I'm after are, Osmo World, Osmo Monster, Osmo Detective Agency, Osmo Pizza Company. Is there a way to grab the apk files from my amazon tablet before they get deleted (Amazon apk files are automatically deleted after installing)? Or is there some other clever way of grabbing the apk files? The guys at Osmo are not helping me. They just work with Apple and Amazon.
Well, I sure would appreciate any help on this. Thanks in advance.
Wow guys, I posted this question back in January 2021 and nothing, zip, nada. Maybe it's a bit too specific of something. Just needing some way to grab an Amazon App store app, before the apk gets deleted off of my tablet (immediately after it gets automatically installed). There are no alternate listings for the apk's that I'm after so they're only available in the Amazon App Store. I'm trying to get, "Osmo Math Wizard" and, "Osmo World" and the other Osmo apps I mentioned before. Help, help!

The fireTV Lite stick and the 3rd fireTV Stick are lineageOS supported (unofficial), but amaz. doesn't like this somehow and patch/fix all vulnerable sticks just in the factory (all new sticks) or via updates as soon as internet access is aviable (all older sticks out there). Chance to get a vulnerable stick is still good, if you go into a store or shop and look for the serial number on the sealed boxes (compare serials). Goal is to find a low serial, i.e. old stock. Take a look at this posting (and the thread), to get an idea about the serial thing

Since there isn't any guaranty that all this works out fine... think twice if a fireTV is the right device for you.
Ok, I undestand. Is there an other Android TV stick or an alternative, like a HDMI TV stick?
