[Q] Question about 10.1 weight - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Does anyone know the actual weight of the new 10.1? Most spec sheets indicate 595g, however at Google I/O the presentation indicated 565g?
Typo perhaps? Or are they just adding to the confusion?

The 595g is for the 10.1V

I'm really confused then.
According to Wikipedia and numerous other sources -- the 10.1v is 599g
Also, why at the Google I/O event would they display the 10.1 (non Vodafone) as 565g ?
sorry i am unable to post links currently, but if you go to galaxytabs dot com and look at the post on May 10th you can see the image i am referring to.

Oh. Well IDK.

All I can tell you is it's insanely light. It almost feels bendable, if that makes any sense. It's almost too light.

so given the fact that @ Google I/O they showed the presentation of the "Limited Edition" 10.1 as 565g
...could this then mean that the eventual 10.1 final release will in fact be 595g
with the 10.1v as 599g
3 different h/w models???

10.1V - First gen, now already outdated due to 10.1. = 599g
10.1 Wifi - Doesn't have SIM slot, MicroSD slot nor 3G Card = 565g
10.1 3G - Has SIM slot, MicroSD and 3G card so is heavier than WIFI = 595g
Thinking about it logically like that, it makes sense.

Hmmm...interesting, taking all those factors into account it does make sense now.
nice one risq

So the wifi only version WILL NOT have microSD? that seems an odd omission.. Could you provide a link or anecdotal evidence for this, good sir? That would most definitely be a deal breaker for me.

i personally dont have any evidence to support this, however I do have this link from Samsung indicating that the 8.9 tab has a MicroSD slot but not the 10.1
http://originus.samsung.com/us/news/newsRead.do?news_seq=19833&gltype
but then again, the 10.1 also doesn't show it has 'Sensors' and i'm pretty sure that's not correct.

The special edition given at I/O doesn't have an SD slot... Why would they leave it off that if it would be in the retail version? Doesnt make sense to have yet another version

yeah.. at this stage in the game, theyve been manufacturing those things for a while to get ready for launch demand. I'm willing to bet I/O tabs are identical hardware to the retail version, with the obvious exception of the white back.
Dang... I've much to reconsider...

The Google i/o edition has no sd-card slot and no 3G. The hardware for the sd-card and the sim card are probably one unit.
I expect that apart from the androids printed on the back, the white wifi-only 32GB version will be same as the Google i/o version (but that's just a guess).

Don't think the 10.1v is necessarily outdated due to the 10.1 . It's just another model. Don't know if the 10.1 has a better design because of its thinness. The 10.1v has a great grip due also to the design of the backplate.

...and let's not forget the 8MP rear camera on the 10.1v

I guess all this well be answered in a couple weeks.

I think reason 10.1 from I/O does not have an SD support is because it is sort of a hybrid. Old 10.1v (and all its specs) but in a body of 10.1
It ads confusion but hell... that have produced 5.000 pieces quickly out of the spares they had knocking around any way. It is one of.
And if you are a developer you are still going to be happy with a gift like that... lets face it - if it did not costed you a penny why would complain that it lucks stuff.
On the other hand... in order for you to develop stuff for honeycomb it is more than enough.

I'm guessing that the retail will have an SD, the I/O tab is similar to the developer Nexus phones.

565 and Tegra 2. No SD

Internal memory is 4GB, just like the G2, with 1.5 GB free/available (same "issue" as the G2 as to where this memory has "gone").
Also, the stuff in the spec list for the processor is kinda misleading. Yes, the chip might have support for XGA displays and 12-megapixel cameras, but the Desire Z has neither of those features in its own hardware.

Shouldn't the DZ have 512MB of RAM by htc.com and wikipedia..?
But mine shows 256.. That's ofcourse if I checked it right (Settings->Applications->Running services and the bottom numbers together ) Mine feels kinda slow for a high end phone sometimes..

How much free RAM do you have though ? If you have a load free, then I doubt RAM is the cause of any slowdowns on your phone.
I don't think all 512 MB is available to the OS, some is used by the radio.
the bottom bar reads:
Other: 79MB in 4 Avail: 72MB+ 137MB in 12
Haven't been able to totally figure out what the whole thing means, but is there a way to know how much total RAM I have? Wouldn't feel right to have a phone with half the RAM it should have..
Does anyone else experience a little slow camera when moving the picture around? That seems weird since, a long time ago I had the first gen iPhone, and even thats camera was smooth and fast.. There is also a slight freeze before flipping the screen to and from landscape when opening/closing the keyboard..
Thanks for your help though

I'm new to Android, so learning as I go. But since that first bit says "Other", I'm guessing you need to also add in the sizes of the services currently running, listed above that.
When I add all those figures up for mine, I get to around 366 MB, which I think is about right for the amount of RAM available to Android.
Sounds like you have about 200 MB free, so I don't think you need to worry about free RAM.
I thought of that, but with the applications it adds up to a little over 300, 330or something like that..
So I assume you don't have those lags and freezes on your phone ?

I found a small tool called "Android Assistant" in the market that displays some useful data e.g. it shows that my DZ has a total of 373.23 MB and it also gives a break up between used and free (generally that hovers around 230 MB used and 140-143 MB free - ofcourse depends on what else I am running at any time). You might want to give it a try. It also provides easy ways to kill processes that you don't need or empty Caches of various applications that you may have run in the recent past who haven't emptied their cache on exit.
Total RAM, not Available RAM
I see that everyone's discussed this to death - but I'm still confused about the RAM on this phone. When I see screenies of ROMs I'm about to download, they generally show the poster's DZ as having "Total RAM - 512MB", but any time I check my phone - it shows Total as 368MB. Is this because of the system overhead, and if so - with this much memory allocated, why does it need to consume so much MORE for the OS? If not, is there something wrong with my phone?
Sorry for beating a dead horse, I'm just still trying to make sense of it. Thanks to anyone who can help!

I've been testing a beta hardware GK802 for a couple of weeks now and have known about it for a few months.
Over at armtvtech we've worked with geekbuying to fix some firmware/hardware bugs and now it's a pretty stable device.
It's also my favorite Android TV stick to date. I just ordered one of the production models today.
Unlike the rockchip based sticks this one actually switches resolutions properly.
I haven't had any wifi signal drops, or lowered speed while using this stick.
Video playback is great and in sync. I've actually used BS Player and Dice Player to play 2 1080p mkv's at the same time with no apparent frame drops or issues.
Netflix works like a charm.
The internal NAND is actually a micro sd card that can be removed if you open the unit up. I've made several backups of my micro sd using dd in ubuntu. I've also replaced my micro sd with a larger and faster 16GB UHS-I and it was much more responsive. I used Gparted to increase the size of my partitions.
The i.mx6q actually supports linux. Freescale has builds that can run x11 w/ hardware acceleration. They also support hardware acceleration with Gstreamer for videos. It's just a matter of getting the u-boot on the internal micro-sd setup, and building a kernel that supports the built in wifi.
I've actually been working on getting ubuntu running properly on my GK802. I have it booting, but I need my usb to 3.3v serial adapter to arrive so I can check/set/make a properly working uboot.(mostly so I can change the kernel location and run a custom kernel with working wifi)
Kernel/Android/Linux sources are available from Freescale. They are gearing up for the i.mx6q to be a long term SOC so we will be seeing future software updates.
There's a copy of this device called the Hi802. It will not be receiving the same updates or support as the GK802.
It's slightly cheaper, but they basically stole the design and shopped it out at trade shows.
It also won't be featuring the same usb cable/charger needed to update the firmware through the pc as the GK802 has.
I highly recommend you go with the original GK802 over the slightly cheaper copy.
The copy can't even offer a warrenty, let alone support for the device.
I want, but I wonder when will these go on special.
Did you order one?
I ordered one. I've also got a pre production GK802 sitting in front of me.
In case your wondering I also own (3)UG802, (1)MK808, (1)MX1, (1)MK802 III, (1) Oval Elephant, and a CX-01.
I've made kernels and custom firmwares for the rk3066 sticks.
I tend to go through all these sticks looking for something a bit better and I think I've found it with the GK802.

Cool. I'd like to hear your impressions of the GR802
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 2
I'm basically in awe over this stick.
It's much smoother than the rk3066 sticks.
However the benchmarks are not much better. This can be explained:
The rk3066 dual cores usually operates at 1.2 to 1.6Ghz. They get antutu scores ranging from 6800 to 9900.
The i.mx6 quad core in the GK802 operates at 996Mhz(it is a 1.2GHz chip). It gets scores of around 10430 at 720p and 9980 at 1080p.
Video playback is great! Audio/Video look to be nearly perfect if not perfectly in sync.
It can playback with hardware decoding in Dice Player, MX Player, BS Player and more.
Netflix works like a charm as usual.
When doing software decoding in XBMC beta 2 I can playback 720p without alot of frame drops. Very watchable.
Avi, smaller mkv's/mp4's also playback great in XBMC beta 2.
Youtube was working great until the last update from play store, now I can't seem to find the fullscreen button. I solved this by sideloading an older verison.
I really enjoy the removable internal storage. I've made dd backups for myself.
I'm also working on getting freescale's ubuntu release running.
The internal wireless has a pretty decent range. It can connect to my router at 150Mbps through 2 "wifi troubled" rooms.(aka wifi zone of death)
Being able to switch resolutions is a huge plus. The rk3066 stick can't do this yet.
All in all I've found this stick to be more stable than my others. Which is surprising considering that it's brand new to the market.
I'm recommending it to everyone I know. Especially anyone that runs linux, because that is a huge thing in my community.
This coming week I'll be doing a full review with pictures and screenshots. I just need my new GK802 to get here!
Cool. Thanks for the review.

Hi deadhp1,
I saw a video about it in Youtube, is it correct that GK802 runs ICS instead of JB? Because of this, I'm delaying to get one. I have an iMito with JB, it's a lot smoother compared to those ICS sticks.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using XDA Premium HD app
The Gk802 is indeed based on ICS. Freescale has not released a JB port....yet.
I found the GK802's ICS experience to be just as smooth, if not smoother than any of my JB sticks.
I have the iMito MX1, and at real 1080p the GK802 is smoother.
I also have several other sticks including ug802, mk808, mx1, mk802 III, cx01, oval elephant. The GK802 beats them all hands down.
In other news I've soldered the 3.3v serial lines on my GK802 and have gotten access to the u-boot options.
I used the FTDI 3.3v Basic Serial to USB adapter from sparkfun and connected 3 wires the rx/tx, tx/rx, gnd/gnd wires.
After that I setup minicom to access it over ttyUSB0 115200, 8n1, no soft/hard flow control.
I had to hexedit the stock u-boot to change the bootarg "bootdelay=0" to "bootdelay=5" otherwise I couldn't interrupt the u-boot process.
I've been able to use the stock u-boot to boot the kernel included included in this release for the Nitrogen6x.
http://boundarydevices.com/latest-freescale-ubuntu-i-mx6/
I'm still stuck on the waiting for root filesystem, so my bootargs need some work.
After that's done it should be easier to compile a new u-boot with proper bootargs built in.
deadhp1 thanks for letting us know about the performance of the quadcore! I've got the MX1 (with the most recent firmware) and i love it. I saw that geekbuying was releasing the Zealz GK802 and thought about getting it but wasn't sure until someone reviewed the device. I look forward to your review of the device!
Have you tried playing shadowgun deadzone one there?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
What would nice is to know if the wifi signal strengh is good and if it doesn't drop.
The Hiapad Hi-802 looks exactly the same?
Hi,
do we know if we can use the GK802 fw on a Hi802 stick?
I believe I have placed my order to quick and I took the Hi802 for its design rather then the GK802
So any chance to use the GK802 updates/fws?
Thanks
Amazing, quad core in a stick, I will need to look into this. Thanks OP.
EDIT: didn't realize my topic w already discussed and answered. That's what i get for researching on my phone. Removed...

deadhp1,
Could you post a card image with your new rooted firmware and updates. Then, I could dd on to the internal card? If I can not get the image I can not update my new device. My button is broke.
full internal micro-sd image posted up on my forum

It's got the 12-13-2012 update applied to it, rooted, and play store fixed.
I'll try to make a new full image with the 12-20-2012 update applied tomorrow sometime!
In other news I'm making a bit more headway into getting linux to run on this thing. I still need to build a properly working kernel and uboot.
I soldered serial lines to my beta GK802 and am using that for testing. My production GK802 is mostly stock and kicking butt!
great work deadhp1, ur the reason im getting/trying to get this, Any 1 here want to explain uk taxes/fees for this item to a Recognized Contributor aka me?

I haven't tried the RC11 model(I'm not a big fan of air mice), but I do have the RC12 with the touchpad(no air mouse). It works great with the GK802.
I can't see why the RC11 air mouse wouldn't work. It's almost the same model...even the box is the same.
Is this deal for essentially the same device? (They say 4 days left, and it's a whole dollar cheaper!) The branding is different but the specs look the same.

[Specs] Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Specifications - Members Thoughts

Hey all
Here Sony have gone against the past "mini" devices, the compact is a fully featured little brother of the flagship Xperia Z3. Boasting the same chipset, albeit with reduced RAM. It also features the same PS4 remote play feature. Something I'm sure we would all like to see ported to other devices. Its a promising Smartphone for those who feel the shear size of the flagship devices are getting out of hand.
Lets take a look at the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact's specifications, feel free to comment

Thanks for the link to the white paper. Originally I thought they might have removed/disabled ANT+ as it wasn't listed in the product website but is mentioned in the white paper. Looking to use it for cycling and hoping with battery life it can do up to 6 hours with GPS enabled.

Regarding expandable storage, it isn't really limited to 128GB, it's just that nothing larger exists. Technically according to the microSDXC spec it is limited to 2TB expandable storage.
Has anyone had any confirmation on whether there'll be a glove or pen mode?

I don't think they say 128gb max, because there isn't any bigger, but because Sony itself supports till that size. The system itself supports bigger of course.
720p with snapdragon 801. This thing will fly and battery life will be better than z1c

Thanks for correcting this, it has been erroneously reported as 64GB in a lot of places
Cheers guys:good: Updated the OP.
Looking forward to the 20.7 mp camera. Currently have an HTC one m7, worst camera ever. Also like the compact size and decent battery capacity.

Ditto. Although would the reduced RAM offer better battery life? The 720p screen was a smart move and I completely understand that decision, but I'm wondering why they only went with 2 gb of RAM? People will say, Who needs 3 gb? But that's just a tired answer, why upgrade anything at all then? It's been shown that the extra RAM would improve performance, but I'm curious if it also affects battery.

Hmm yeah, I don't know. I guess it does matters 'a lot', in theorie 1gb extra ram would add 33% more power consumption.

In that case the battery would be used just from the memory. Not from screen, network etc.
2Gb are enough, the z3 needs 3 because of the full hd display because there is no separate graphics ram.
have the 2GB RAM been confirmed?... gsmarena states in all previews that it will have 3GB as it's bigger counterpart... but the specs page say it's 2GB, so I was wondering (or hoping) if it was a "typo" of them when making the specs page .

oh well... Sony site says 2GB. Link. It should be more than enough though...
Against fist rumors it seems that the bezel/frame is not aluminum.
Sony used some plastic for the sides.
After using my beloved One S for two years now i think i will miss the feel of the surface.
Hope the glass and the frame will not be prone to scratches.
But i'm really tempted to get this phone and hope some Devs will give us some fabulous roms.
This will be my next phone!!!!
i'm just waiting for clove.co.uk to get it in stock and hopefully bundle one of the smartbands/watches w/it again like the Z1 was.
I'm an AT&T USA customer and was previously on Tmobile USA and loved my Xperia Z1 and haven't upgraded phones since getting it last nov. The biggest feature that Sony has above everyone else? Waterproof phones.
Plus, a 'mini' phone that has the exact flagship specs = PURE WIN!!! and to top it off, PS4 remote play.. oh yea!
The Z3C could have been the ideal phone for me if only it had a few "minor" changes. First and foremost 32 GB of internal storage then 3 GB of ram and the matte back surface of the Z3C tablet.
Hope Sony will adress these "issues" while keeping the same footprint.

There is no such thing as a 'perfect' phone.
They could have added these things easily, but didn't chose to do so because it would consume more power.
The matte back surface is purely based on taste

I actually prefer the glass-sandwhich look. I'm coming from a Nexus4, which I've realised since the beginning was too big for my taste, and this z3compact seems the perfect phone for me.

I don't think so I think the fast charging is a feature built in to the Qualcomm chips.

For me is 3 things that are causing noise:
1) The pixel density is what's causing the first impact (not in a good way) in me. I'm no expert when it comes in judging screen but when other devices with far smaller screens as well as devices that have been in the market for a long time come up with much higher densities, it does make you wonder about this brand new flagship device that only offers 281 ppi. (And please, spare me the explanation about how irrelevant pixel density is in relation to the smaller screen sizes, I understand that).
2) Also, the 2GB RAM (as opposed to 3).
3) The portability aspect of such a big device: the physical size and weight seem to be a concern, specially when you're upgrading from the fantastically compact Nexus 7 (2013).
edited: I forgot about a 4th thing that has me deeply disappointed:
4) Lack of wireless Qi-charging capability.
But who are we kidding, being the nerds we are, we know most of us here will be getting one regardless.
Its not quad core denver chip but dual core denver chip
I agree on #1 and #3.. This is a step backwards from the DPI on the N7 and at 425g its pretty much the same as a 9.7 inch Ipad air (437g)

I like the 4/3 form factor. Only time I have used this form factor on a tablet was on an Ipad. I personally don't like Ipad but one thing I loved is that form factor. Easier to hold and work with.
Android L looks good. I can't wait to see how fast the K1 will be using ART.
Funny to see that the N9 camera will protrude from the tablet a little bit, like on the new Iphone 6 (Iphone users complained about this). I personally don't care but I'm sure some future N9 users will complain about it.
Camera is not the best but hey, who brings a tablet to take pictures? Grab your DSLR or your phone Pple looks so stupid when taking picture using a tablet..lol. This also makes me think about something else. Why not putting a better resolution camera on the front? Personally, when I'm using my tablet camera, It's for Skype. I never took a picture using the main camera, Imo, the 8 Mp camera should be front facing so we can have descent video resolution when skyping.
2 Gb of ram is enough for me, especially when using "pure" android (no Sense or TouchWizz UI). 3Gb of ram would have raised the price too much and most users don't need 3gb.
Polycarbonate cover:
HTC were so excited when they announced that the One X was getting a uni-body poly-carbonate shell back in 2012. This polycarb. design caused so much trouble with that phone, the polycarb. body was somewhat flexible and caused bad electrical contact between main board and antennas glued inside the polycarb cover. (i.e the infamous Wifi issue of the One X) I personally don't thrust polycarb anymore, I prefer aluminium body like the M7/M8. Hopefully, they have designed the N9 so that problem will not occur again...
Tegra K1 CPU:
I also had bad experience with Tegra CPU on my One X. They announced the Tegra 3 (in 2012) to be a powerful quadcore CPU with very good power consumption using a battery-saver "companion" core to handle low-power tasks when 4 cores are not required (standby mode, playing music etc etc). Performance wasn't there (compared to the qualcomm equivalent of that year) and power consumption was really bad. I was very disappointed by Tegra CPU. Also used a Tegra 2 on my gf's Asus TF101. I prefer qualcomm cpu, much faster and power friendly. It also looks like there is more development for qualcomm CPU than Tegra CPU. But K1 is ready and Qualcomm's 810 isn't, so yes the K1 will be to most powerful chip on the mobile market, but im not optimistic about power consumption where the 810 will probably be much better when released.
Overall I think it will be a very good tablet keeping in mind that this tablet is designed for the average consumer and not for enthusiast.
edit:
front facing speakers (boomsound) will be awesome!
a bit bummed out on only 2gb ram, no qi charging, lowish dpi but am ordering it anyways...
do really like turbo charging, ac wifi, bt apt-x, htc design and big battery...
I hate that they went big with both the 6&9. The 7" fit perfectly for my needs. Oh well...
4x3, front facing speakers, and stock Android? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE!?!?
This tablet will be a huge hit, despite the less-than-record-setting specs. I do wish it were cheaper, but I think people who do buy it will love it.
And it's time for 16x9 tablets to die. I hope this is the start!

4:3 is what I've been looking for in a tablet as one of my main uses for it as a medical professional is reading PDFs on the go. 16:9 or 16:10 is not the aspect ratio for reading letter-size PDFs, but it could be managed on the larger >10" tablets. Up to this point, the iPad was the best device for consuming PDFs, but now I have another choice on the market to take a look at.

I too have been waiting for a 4/3 android option without resorting to cheapo Chinese tablets without after sale service. And to those who will explain you that 16/9 is better for movies, that is a very limited point of view in my opinion : how do iPad users do ? I mostly watch movies on my tablet in my bed, with other lights off or very dimmed, so I just can't see the bezel anyway and will gladly have a much better format for books and Internet consumption !
It's not THAT different from most other phones, but I like the size.
I hope it's dual core and not quad core so it's finally worth investing for real.
What I like:
- Tegra K1 - 'nuff said
- Android apps will automatically compile to 64bit when installed on it. The beauty of Dalvik/ART :')
- 4:3 screen - FINALLY an android tablet for working people. Working with PDFs and documents will be an absolute joy with this.
- Android updates
Cons:
- Limited storage -- what's the point of having all that power if you don't have enough storage for content to make use of it. HD games and videos use a LOT of space.
Even Apple realised that and dropped $100 off 64 and 128GB models
- eMMC 4.51 -- which peaks at 200MB/s is significantly slower than other flagships. My iPhone 5S gets over 360MB/s read speeds in benchmarks.. SSD-speeds really.
- 2GB RAM, unlikely to be a problem in the near future.
- Too expensive for what it has to offer.
All in all, I think its the best android tablet on the market now. Sad to see it out powered by the iPad Air 2 only a day after release though the difference is only minimal.
Can't wait to get mine

Backlight Bleeding issue
Just like what happened in the past with the CHUWI Lapbook Air (1st batch, latest ones are not affected), also the Lapbook SE is affected by the same annoying issue. Basically, you need to be lucky in order to get a unit with a perfectly glued screen until they fix the issue in the production line.

Thermal Mod
Since this PC was reaching almost 90c under heavy-load with the locked 6W TDP, I decided to go ahead and open it. Unfortunately, many bad surprises came out.
ALERT: Be careful, there are some hidden screws that made me crazy while opening it since my Lapbook Air was not featuring them.
First of all, there was no thermal pad between the heatsink and the metal chassis (the one you see here has been added by me as a test).
Second, the heatsink seems to be recycled from another motherboard, but this is just the beginning. Due to this, the coating used to shield the Metal from the Motherboard was behaving as a barrier for the heat.
So, the only way to fix this mess is by removing the coating from both heatsink and metal chassis (because yes, they insulated also that). I used some abrasive paper (P400) to remove most of the coating.
The thermal pad has been replaced with thermal paste (Kyronaut by Thermal Grizzly).
By doing this process i have discovered that the thermal pad i used as test on the heatsink was too thin (0.5mm) so i have switched to something probably overkill (1.5mm), both pads were high-performance ones BTW for the best results.
Funny story, 1.5mm resulted to not be overkill at all because there is also a design issue with this heatsink, that is not being perfectly flat thus the distance between the die and the heatsink itself is quite big so this extra thickness of the 1.5mm Thermal Pad worked perfectly. NOTE: I would recommend to go for a copper pad instead of a thermal pad but i don't have any thermal adhesive so i decided to go for something safe.
Done! As a result of this process, temps dropped by ~10C at 6W, reaching maximum 65c under Prime95 maximum heat test.
Full-quality photo album can be found here: https://imgur.com/a/2Yi24vL
For those interested, even though it is possible to disable Power Limit 1 in the BIOS, the setting is ignored and the maximum power usage keeps getting limited to 6W. XTU is not working either (blank tab).

By using ThrottleStop it is possible to unlock power limits properly: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/techpowerup-throttlestop/
The problem is that temps get too high even with the thermal mod, i may consider liquid metal as next experiment.
Update regarding my Thermal mod. I was not satisfied with the result so proceeded and this is what i had to do.
First of all, i switched to liquid metal (Conductonaut) so i had to insulate almost the whole motherboard.
Then, as you can see here, a small piece of heatsink has been removed since, due to the design flaw, it was causing it to be bent improperly with poor contact with the die.
The result is unfortunately not superb, but i am now able to stay with power limits unlocked (via Throttlestop) with no/minimum thermal throttling.

Chromium OS
Chromium OS for Lapbook SE
This is a release candidate and the final release will be more polished and with a working built-in installer.
Downloads:
Chromium OS 68 Image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N8qNpLruVz3gJieWwReb2fqe-lirqUJ9/view?usp=sharing
Installation: Depending on the destination device, you may have to follow different installation guides.
- Internal SSD (for permanent installation): in order to avoid issues, you need Linux, so choose your preferred distro and boot it (a live USB is fine, you don't need to install it). Then follow this video guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N17rPCj9ye8
- USB Devices (HDD/SSD/Flash Drives, for portable installation also known as Live USB, 16GB minimum): you can use both Windows and Linux. For Windows, just download Rufus (https://rufus.akeo.ie/), choose your USB device, tick DD mode (instead of ISO) and proceed. For Linux, the video guide linked for the Internal SSD installation can be followed.
Known Bugs:
- Unavailable tap to click (the hardware click button works fine though)
- Broken Chromium OS Installer (disabled to avoid complains)
FAQ:
- Question: I can't find the Play Store as seen on Chromebooks, where is it?
- Answer: You won't find it until Google decides to make this feature available to the public.
- Question: The Laptop is stuttering and stops responding for a while, please help.
- Answer: It means that your External USB Device is painfully slow and have to consider to get a faster USB 3.0 device to avoid this.
- Question: Is the current image source-built? If yes, where is the kernel source as requested by GPL?
- Answer: No, the current release candidate build is based on another already built image thus i have no source code for it. I am waiting for the public source release in fix all remaining issues plus make the source code available.
Wow the maximum power usage is insane without any power limit enabled. Almost 21W without any active cooling is just too much to handle, i was lucky to get only a maximum of 85c thanks to my extreme thermal mod but i can't recommend to keep power limits completely off without doing it.

Does somebody found a way to make camera work in Linux?
Hi, what settings do you have to change in TS in order to remove power limits on the N4100?
Thank you in advance.
Noob quick question
I majorly f-ed up my Chuwi SE. I thought I successfully cloned it to the 128 SSD, then deleted the eMMC. But, I now get this blue error screen.
Anyhoo. I'm trying to reinstall windows using the drivers the OP posted (thanks), and the windows + bios files on the chuwi site (slow going. Keeps getting network errors while dloading...). [sry, can't post outside link as I'm a new member. It is located on the official chuwi forums]
ANyway, my question. After I install windows (fingers crossed). How do I install the bios files that I downloaded from the chuwi forum? I downloaded them and they appear to be 4-5 different .efi files scattered about. How do I use these files, and do I need to install all of them? Many thanks in advance.
Hello... Post an HD photo of the motherboard, I'm interested to see the type of RAM installed
