Best apps on the A500 - Acer Iconia A500

I've been impressed with Backbreaker HD so far, but haven't tried too much quite yet.

Pulse news reader is a must for tabs, also adfree is good for getting rid of stupid adds.
Iplayer for all the bbcs and myPlayer for itv, ch4, and five.
Also MoboPlayer is excellent video player which can be changed in settings from list view to grid which will give you a very nice 3D video wall.
Worth a look - Tunein radio, tubemate (fantastic download speeds 10mps good for dl full episodes eg ufo.tv).

Something looks wrong - 3G/T20

Not sure what is happening here. If someone could enlighten me:
In settings, about tablet, device information,
2nd line down - Product SKU 3G - does this mean that it does have 3g hidden somewhere!!!
also 9th line down - CPU version T20 - I thought iconia was T250!!!
And lastly on previous screen (about tablet) Build number is Acer_A500_1.016.05_COM_Gen1 - Anyone got newer/different build number?

Tegra 250 I believe is the model. Our series is T20. I don't know the differences in the system details. I will speculate that T230 vs. T250 may have to do with the amount of RAM soldered to the board. So T230 may for eg. be slower 512MB of RAM and T250 might be fast 512MB-1GB or RAM. But I don't know for sure. I've never seen a device advertised with Tegra 230 and haven't been able to source one online either.
The next series will be the T25, also model Tegra 250 but will be referred to as Tegra 2 3D

It is just a speculation so far, but I think that there is a 3G chipset in our tablets, Acer may have just removed the simcard slot in order to save money to avoid handling 2 differents motherborards in their assembly chain.
I have noticed that the aiplane mode is inefficient in my case ... same things for "nobars" app that was supposed to act as a bypass for the battery drain issue.
That could explain quite a lot of strange behaviors about this issue.

What are you set at currently?
Mine's pretty loud, but that could be relative.
I have noticed that if I'm lazy and use the auto eq under the dolby settings then it can significantly reduce the sound output depending on what type of music I play so I set mine to off, or I manually set it.
With dolby set to on or off and audio eq set to off you should be alright as far as volume level. I'm not sure how to get it louder than that.
Play with the EQ profile selections. Some of the profiles are louder than others

[Q] Overclocked ROM

I'm using viewcomb 3.2 which is overclocked to 1.2Ghz and it is perfect for video playback, but the browser crashes when it as flash on the webpages, tried different browsers and all the same. Tried vegaICS, but constants hangs on video playback, but browser works great.
What I want to know is, is there a more stable overclocked ROM? or another ROM that is also good on video playback.
Thanks guys...
I have the same issue. is help myself by overclocking only for video watching. for everything else the 1.0GHz is more than enough. There are widgets for oneclick overclocking. i think its acceptable this way.

tablet running slow. best rom for speed?

Hey hackers,
I need to pick a rom for my TF101. My tablet has been running a little slow and a little choppy, so I'm thinking it's the rom. I'm currently running cm10. I'm thinking Revolver or Revolution would be the best for performance and speed - would one of these be a good choice?

Well ive flashed them all lol and CM10 is by a long way the fastest (equal with JB AOSP but more stable) both Revolver and Revolution are about the same as far performance goes, I prefer Revolver for ICS roms but is still much less performance the cm10. Ive found CM10 to be a little choppy with the stock launcher, Apex is much better might be worth trying that before flashing another rom.
Thanks for the tip about the launcher and other roms. Tried apex - it was awful, actually I'll let you know what happens with some other roms.
Revolver ICS runs great but CM10 is improving everyday.

Which CM10 rom are you running? There's a few out now and not all run the same. If it's the RaymanFX CM10 then I'd be suprised you're having performance issues.
Speaking of which, did you overclock at all? A little boost to the CPU speed can make a world of difference. Depending on your tablet, however, you may experience some crashing if you push it too hard. 1.2 to 1.4 GHz seems to be the sweet spot for most people.
AnTuTu CPU Master (Free) is what I use. I've set it to 1600Mhz with smartassV2 scaling and the sio I/O scheduler. My tablet reacts to overclocking very well though so your mileage may vary.

I was running a nightly version. I switched to Revolver - it's much smoother. I woud say it's running perfectly but I don't want to jinx myself.

There's your problem with cm10 lol you need to give RaymanFX's cm10 a try. Ive gone from Revolver to RaymanFX's cm10 and the performance increase is amazing.
Is the download link up? I only see the kernel. Do i need to flash the kernel separately? I'm a little confused.

Yeah heres the link: (http://goo.im/devs/RaymanFX/downloads/CyanogenMod-10/cm_tf101-b2.zip) it comes with a kernel but you can alternatively flash the K.A.T kernel that fixes a few issues with JB roms, I haven't tho
Thanks so much.

Newest Team EOS with Kat Kernal overclocked to 1400mhz is very smooth for me.
EOS with Elite kernel.
IT has best benchmark so far .

Reinstall CM10. It should be blazing fast already.
I use rayman's Cm10 V7 (V6 was fine too) + KatKernel 70 and it is super fast

[Q] Tips on A500 playing HD Videos (ROMs)

Dear A500 Users,
i would like to use my A500 just to play videos ranging from normal to HD (720p is okay, not on 60fps anyways)
I have used some ROMs and i would like a tip on what's better for my purpose
The two best ones i tried so far are Civato's REFLEXX and Smaury's Lightspeed, both on 1.4GHZ kernel with BFQ and LULZACTIVE governor
RE_FLEXX gave me better quadrant scores, but Lightspeed has no additional stuff afaik..
What could you suggest me?
Thanks in Advance
