Something looks wrong - 3G/T20 - Acer Iconia A500

Not sure what is happening here. If someone could enlighten me:
In settings, about tablet, device information,
2nd line down - Product SKU 3G - does this mean that it does have 3g hidden somewhere!!!
also 9th line down - CPU version T20 - I thought iconia was T250!!!
And lastly on previous screen (about tablet) Build number is Acer_A500_1.016.05_COM_Gen1 - Anyone got newer/different build number?

Tegra 250 I believe is the model. Our series is T20. I don't know the differences in the system details. I will speculate that T230 vs. T250 may have to do with the amount of RAM soldered to the board. So T230 may for eg. be slower 512MB of RAM and T250 might be fast 512MB-1GB or RAM. But I don't know for sure. I've never seen a device advertised with Tegra 230 and haven't been able to source one online either.
The next series will be the T25, also model Tegra 250 but will be referred to as Tegra 2 3D

It is just a speculation so far, but I think that there is a 3G chipset in our tablets, Acer may have just removed the simcard slot in order to save money to avoid handling 2 differents motherborards in their assembly chain.
I have noticed that the aiplane mode is inefficient in my case ... same things for "nobars" app that was supposed to act as a bypass for the battery drain issue.
That could explain quite a lot of strange behaviors about this issue.

[Q]CPU overclocking kernel

Hi there,
I noticed on Antutu.com website people submitting Vegan Tab benchmark results running their systems at 1400Mhz. Where do I find the kernel with such options? Currently am running CorvusVegaRom, and both SetCPU and Antutu is maxed at 1000Mhz.
Would like to squeeze extra juice from the tablet. Anyone knows howto?
Thanks.

kernel will be compiled over the weekend to include these Overclocking changes from the G-Tab.
Look out for a Bumble-bee (Apache14) Kernel over the weekend or early next week once he has merged the changes.
Cool. Thanks. It is good to know that Tegra 2 is overclockable. In future this extra speed will be usefull once someone and somehow will port the Honeycomb for us Vega/Viewpad tablet owners.

o wow good spot will have to give this one a try out, corvus was allready smooth as grease it, this should be good
Yeah my vega is overclocked to 1.4ghz using setcpu on corvus5. Its amazing and benchmarking it on smartbench shows that the vega beats the xoom which is at 1.5ghz!!!
official cm nightlies now have 1.4ghz overclocking, too. you dont need any setcpu.txt file and can change overclocking with cm-settings without any setcpu at all

some question about ms2

i live in china, the mistakes of language please skip them
1. CPU
OMAP 3630 Ti factory frequency is 720mhz, not 1ghz
here is the Ti official link: focus.ti.c o m/pr/docs/preldetail.tsp?prelId=sc09020§ionId=594
i really appraciate the quality of Ti CPU...I'm using ms2 at 1.3ghz, compare with the factory frequency,580mhz more.
is there any danger to overclock so much?
please give me some suggestion
2.Touch screen
i don't the details about the problem that ms2 has the touch delay...
someone says that it is caused by rom, others think it's about the screen quality.
i just want to know is the ms2 in other countries have the problem?
or droid 2 have the same problem?
how to resolve the problem?
3.bootloader&bootstrap
MOTO's official rom is really ungelivable, and bootloader lock the rom...
but bootstrap can escape the bootloader and put in the rom without certification or authorizing...
so why there isn't enough rom we can use?
i know the agen2stone, but the temprature is really let me feel scared...sometimes over 50C (temprature in china and about 122F)...and i don't like the UI. the most important , it is based on the official rom...but it is much better than official rom...
expecting a2s 2.0...
3.1 CM7 AND unofficial rom
defy have already had the CM7 and MIUI...
MS2 AND DEFY both have the bootloader, to adjust roms for defy into ms2 is much easier than other way(personal thinking, may be not correct).
i'm not good at development, hoping some developers can take my suggestion to get success on the CM7 or unofficial rom for ms2...
i can't use link yet, skip the space between the c o m in the link.
thanks
1. Orig Milestone is based on TI OMAP 3430 with 550mhz processor. People overclocking it to 1,2ghz. Milestone 2 which is based on TI OMAP 3630 (as well as Droid 2) is overclocked to 1ghz, and Droid 2 Global to 1,2ghz with the same chip, and it's stock frequency set by Motorola. I think they wouldn't overclock it if there would be any danger. More dangerous to your cpu is to high vsel level and temperature
2. I bet it's a software/touchscreen drivers problem. Anyway I will report it to them with some vid samples with comparison to other devices . I hope they will fix it with next updates.

I don't think a non-Chinese-speaking could get the meaning of ungelivable.
It's kind of kuso and totally Chinglish.

1.No need to worry about this
2.The cause is commomly considered to be the ROM itself. However, due to the BL , we can`t solve now.
3. There is a hardware checker in Milestone2, which will check the kernel everytime we boot the rom. Bootstrap just partly bypass the BL in software. STill not able to run custom kernel. So there is no real custom rom for us.
3.1 There is still some differences between their BLs. According to Mikevhl, MS2`s BL somehow locks more. But I think it`s just the matter of DEV`s effort. DEFY has many many many DEVS......while we MS2er just has MIKEVHL.........
For now, just support MIKEVHL and await him to release something

Agreed,
Think about manufacture process of different CPUs which have the similar architecture.
They made from one silicon wafer but they labeled different clock rates depend on different stability levels in testing, and, this is not the frequency they designed for.
Manufacturers can also block some cores, L2-cache or something, so, that's AMD Phenom X3 and Phenom X4, some models of Intel Celeron and Pentium.

Actually, this word came form a Chinese network language ( or slang ) "给力" which speaks just like "geli". It means energetic, very helpful or forcefulness. So "ungelivable" was made by the morphology of English words.
For example: The cheat sheet is sooooo ungelivable, I can't find anything related on it!
Congratulations, you got it.

From the official web page from Ti, the difference between 3630 and 3620 is the 720p...3630 can play 720p originally, but 3620 wasn't...Maybe MOTO fortify it with PowerVR 530...

Prime 1.6 + Netformer vs Revolver 1.1(2)

Has anyone got any opinions on performance with either firmware? In terms of how fast/well they perform. FC issues and battery life?
I am currently using Prime 1.6 (without Netformer). Revolver has OC from Netformer built in. I'm trying to figure out which has the best performance/battery. Prime 1.6 with Netformer or Revolver.
If you think Clemsyn is better you can also throw that into the mix. Maybe we should have a shootout using some benchmark apps
netformer at 1.4 is realy fasy
I've installed it just yesterday, and changed the wallpaper to a regular pic (not live), and i gotta tell you the thing is just flying!
i've set the cpu to 1.4 - i could go up to 1.6, but i guess that will have a huge impact on the battery and the temp as well...
Im runing revolver right now and i hinks its pretty good. i have only had my pad for 4 days but have tried out most of the roms and kernals already. best preformance and battery seems to be revolver 1.1.1 (1.1.2 was just a test to see if his OTA app worked) with the elite tegra 18 kernal. not sure if that will work on your i have been told it is unstable for most people who dont have an elite processor. i have model b70 so that might factor into what kernal is best for you

Don't tell me it's 10 times faster than an already overclocked TF in Vellamo. I've seen several reports from people with 1.4-1.6Ghz, and they all are in 1100-1300 range, getting 1195 myself @ 1.4.

minor nit pick: kernel
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Revolver is really fast, I'm running at 1.5 GHz. I haven't tried out Prime 1.6 yet.
I'm on prime 1.6,i havent tried revolver or netformer,of course i am using nets kernel @ 140000GHz,runs real smooth, even with my live wallpaper, battery doesnt drain too fast.I like running the themes and most of them are only made for prime 1.6.

[Request][CM10][loccera] can you add new govenors to kernel source

Now, after approx 1/2 year our 7.7 (I have an 6810 wifi only) get smooth.
Stock ROM: No IPad-killer. To slow.
First CM10 builds: also not fluid enough. (remember in the tablet is a 1,4 GHz dualcore and fast GPU!)
Now since the last works of loccera on CM10, the tablet is quite fast. I'm using PA 2.20 at the moment. But it is just a new "distribution" (in linux sence: a compilation of sources and patches (nevertheless thank you very much for the great work andoguide.fr!!!!!) and NOT new development "under the hood". - It seems, just loccera is the only one who is able to do the hard coding work; including the CM10 basis for PA 2.20 for our 6800/6810 tablets.
So my question is: if it would be possible to merge additional governors to the kernel?
- smartassV2 is really awesome in fast response and will reduce lags in GUI (and is battery friendly).
- other govenors are also quite worth to try. like "pegasusq" or "hyper" (from 9100 and all newer equinox samsung devices)
As I know from my experiences with kernels on the galaxy ace 1 and now on the S2 9100 the last smoothness just come from the governor. So now, CM10 for 6800/6810 is just one step away to get be one of the smoothest/fastes tablets. - Would be nice to make the final tuning of the kernel l!!!
I suggest, it is not too hard to include the governors patches into the kernel!?!
Code basis should be very similar to the kernels of other equinox ARM processors (a lot of samsung phones have the same kind of processor and also MALI GPU as our tablet.)
Can somebody help??
p.s.
I'm still not allowed to post in the developer section. Therefore I must do here. If other feels the same. Please refer to this request in the CM10 section of loccera! Thank you!

Unlock more cpu freq ?

I updated the kernel to run 1520mhz on P5110 wifi.

Can more be unlocked ?
Im willing to try find max.

That's already beyond the Max. You can't oc it anymore than what you have. I'm surprised it doesn't lock up and freeze at anything higher than 1.42.

So that is absolute max ?
There is no way in heaven to unlock more, its impossible and no use to ask any more questions at all about it ?
Totally absolute no chance that anyone can do it then...
I was a good overclocker before, soldering voltmods with magnifying glass on gfx and mb and doing GDDR timings optimizations step by step with bios flash for every change.
There was always more even when everyone said you cant do any more.
But as you say i have reached max (even beyond max)
Thank you.
(And no im not trying to be a smartass, i just heard "NO" way to many times to listen...the difference btw 1.0ghz to 1.5ghz is ENORMOUS so i just wanted more)

I'm actually surprised the OMAP hasn't shut itself down with all the clock and voltage protection stuff it has.
Here's the slick sheet for the OMAP 44xx that we run in the tablet: http://www.ti.com/lit/ml/swpt034b/swpt034b.pdf
I couldn't find the actual technical manual for it, but I didn't search hard enough.
Buy a faster tablet.
So its made for 1ghz and above, according to pdf.
So we will see tablets with same hardware running 1.5 and depending on cooling and so on.
it aslo seems to handle alot more then its offering, like 20mp cam and so.
And scott if i wanted the fastest then i would pay alot more, so i rather overclock.
you overclock also so i dont understand your comments at all.
I overclock but..
I'm not asking for more like you.
so i cant ask anything here ?
then this forum sure is not for me!
i will find a more helpful place then, see you.
4430
do we have a 4430 dual core in the tab 2 7" or a 4460 it would be nice if it is the 4460
the OMAP4430 operates at up to 1 GHz, while
the OMAP4460 operates at up to 1+ GHz
