Galaxy S2 for £399 on payg - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi guys.
I just found out that the Galaxy S2 is being sold for £399 off contract. Seems a very very reasonable price. They sell the I9000 for £350!!
Should I buy or wait for other phones? I doubt others will even come close in terms of price and functionality.
Thought I'll post here in case any other guys are interested as some retailers are selling for £529, so if it helps save money which can maybe go to developers on here who are doing a great job with change to buy accessories.
Here is the link.
http://shop.o2.co.uk/mobile_phone/pay_and_go/init/Samsung/Galaxy_S_II

That's £100 cheaper than the previous cheapest I've seen. Thanks for the link

trade in for the SGS 1 is around £150 (correct me if im wrong)
so you could get the SGS 2 with No contract for £150 thats good news . im eager to get one but ive not even had this one 6 months lol

I'm on the phone to O2 at the moment.
The S2 is in stock as of today, so retail stores should also have the handset.
HOWEVER, if you buy it on PAYG, its apparently going to be SIM locked to O2, which they won't allow you to unlock until you've had the handset for 12 months.
I'm still going to test this theory out on Saturday though, as it's worth the hassle for a £100 discount!

no doubt when the sgs2 is available worldwide, there is gunna be a new section on XDA.
so im sure it wont be long before someone makes an app to remove sim lock.
like you say its worth the hassle for the £100 discount.

Giffgaffers are ok on O2 with the Giffgaff sim as i recall .

I doubt sim lock would really be a problem as I'm sure there will be a way to unlock.
Currently I'm on tesco mobile sim only contract where I'm getting 1gb mobile internet, 500 mins and 3000 texts for £10 a month. Its a monthly contract so I can cancel anytime but its a brilliant deal so I don't think ill consider canceling it. But great thing is Tesco Mobile runs on 02's network so this sim locked phone should still work for me

I'm going to be checking that on Saturday. If my SIM will work in the phone, then I'll live with any O2 customisations until such time as we get root & can debrand / SIM unlock

Cost £399 less £150 for old phone = £249 PAYG
Is that not correct .
jje

damn this stupid keyboard !!!!
maths was never my strong point

£150 i was a buyer .
£250 shall have to think about it .
Thunked about it i want i want .
Quick backup and flash back to O2 firmware and see what happens tomorrow .
But no more i cannot justify spending £350 less £150 + £249 = £449 on two years use of a phone .
jje

Just checked a couple of O2 stores . No release until 1st may and no stock at present .
jje

It is SGS thread , not SGS II. You guys need here write:

LOL!
Swyped from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

Hope Samsung push out the 2.3.4 update out quick to this phone or even ice cream, if google decide to unveil in a couple of weeks at Google IO

http://www.topdollarmobile.co.uk/samsung/i9000_galaxy_s_P2611.html
I have sold my Samsung Omnia II to these people before, getting the best price.
Better than trade-in!
I found them a little bit slow paying but hey, if you're getting a better price then it's worth the wait!
I'd be tempted to sell my SGS on Ebay first for a fixed price.

I don't think i can consider any phone better than SGS-II this year...of course this is my personal opinion....but i think the only phone that i will compare it with will be Iphone5.....but i guess it will be like 50% expensive than SGS-2 on launch....So for Bang for the buck....We cannot compare then price / performance / features ratio....

O2 Today NO STOCK .

You've also got to wait till september if rumours are to be believed. Personally I don't think its gonna beat the galaxy s2 spec wise so I think its all gonna depend on what platform you prefer. Btw is the model at 02 the nfc enabled model?

O2 and HTC I'd imagine
on another note.... I hope to hell its not the same price as the original XDA was when it first came out.
I dont care what anyone says... nothing of that spec is worth £500 !!!!
<hopes O2 are reading>
If they released it for what the XDA is selling for (£300 w/ contract?) then I'd definetly go for it but not much above...
I wonder how much they will sell the XDA for when the XDAII comes out?
I hope they will sell olso for outsite ... like Italy.
...and unlooked device... cause if else, we must discover how
to unlook the XDA II like first XDA.
Denis
stop selling
I bet that they stop selling the xda original. After all What extra revenue can they get from it? The new XDA II will have MMS because of the integrated camera. This is what sll the providers want. They make money from sms, gprs, mms, voice etc. That is what they are really after.
Wait and see what package they get together. £50 p/m. inclusive minutes, data, sms, mms etc... This is how they make their money...
Martin
a phone where the company sells it cheaper along with a subscription are almost certain to be simlocked
I'm quite happy to stick with their contract for a year if it means I'm getting 200 notes off the phone lol

Yeah thats 6-700 pounds UK.
Trouble is... they probably will sell it for that price with a contract on top of that !!!
Bummer - coz I'm really enjoying my XDA at the moment (got it for 150 pounds second hand) and would love the extra power. Have thought aboput going for a Toshiba e750 and a bluetooth phone - bummer on the pockets... but what else to do eh...
We'll have to sit tight and wait I guess....
What are the chances of being able to buy the base unit from HTC (without paying for the software) and *ahem* flash it with an XDA-developers ROM - or has that never been an option ??
Fuzzy
The XDA have not yet entry in Italy ...
I'm curious if the XDA II will be disponible to buy in Italy ... else i'll must buy another time from O2 UK.
Who will buy form me ???
Denis
Price MDA II from T-Mobile Germany with 24 Month Contract
The Price for the MDA I with Pocket PC 2003 with 24 month
contract will be 199,95 Euro at end October and that new
MDA II will be 499,95 Euro with 24 month contract
(selling starts end October)

i think i will wait until they reduce the price of the xda. at least i won't be a beta tester
regarding your question, HTC doesn't sell units to end customers. you'll only get original unflashed units, if you buy a few thousand pieces and put your own logo on it
The thing is that o2 had an agreement with the manufacturer to have some exclusivity in UK and possibly Germany for the original XDA. This is why T-Mobile have not been able to sell the MDA in UK for last two years. When there is no competition, o2 can afford to charge 300 pound +
However, the xdaII will have competition with the MDAII, the same device, but T-Mobile have got around the exclusivity issue. Hence the prices will reflect competition.
Found today an article in the internet professionell magazine. They are writing, that the XDA II will have a price of 399 Euro and will be released about one month before the mda II will do.
But they also write, that the mda II will be released at the end of october.
Question is just in which year....

Thanks.

Hey Vinod,
Is the Jasjar available in India? If so, for how much. I wouldn't be surprised if it costed something like Rs.50k n more!!!
Wow! They say the keyboard is the worst!!! Definitely doesn't know what he/she is talking about!!!
The cost.
yeah its available here in india.
i live in chennai and its costing Rs.59000.
@jaykumarr,
Holy Crap!!! Thats wayyyyy too expensive. Don't tell me people are actually paying that much for it!!! Wonder when India will change, even now things are sooooo expensive there. I am sure its cheaper in Mumbai and Delhi.
@ universaldoc
no i dont think it will be any cheaper in mumbai or delhi cus ppl get it from dubai and sell it here in the grey market.
it costs rs 56000 in dubai itself.
cus its new price will start to fall as time goes by. will have to wait if i want to save some k.lol
and the worst part is we dont get the latest mobile's in contract here.
we have to get em from the grey marked.
but the good news is that airtel here provides us with unlimited access to gprs for rs.599 a month .
I am living in Dubai and bought it from Dubai for about 53000Rs.. Still its expensive... thats for sure...

sell my HD to buy an iphone?

i'm hacked off with windows mobile so probably going to sell the HD
has anyone looked at selling theirs to buy a iphone?
i'm after a 16gb model
anyone know if i'll be able to get enough for a mint HD to buy a new iphone?
i'm sure others have looked into this before
i'm in the uk if that makes any difference
Considering how long ago the HD was launched I can't imagine that it will sell for top dollar.
the highest offer i got on my HD that i recently put on ebay was 475 plus 20 shipping. I relisted because i want at least 500 for it.
I sold mine is feb for $690 on ebay and bought an iphone. You will get enough for an iphone for sure (at contract price).
Will buy the new iPhone 3GS regardless of whether I get good price for my HD or not. Will also keep my iPhone 3G 16GB for my family. Everyone of them wants me to pass to them.
cheers guys
Its about 1 month old as i had it replaced, and is in mint condition
its not however unused, but you cant notice that it has been
Will the prices of a pay as u go iphone (non S) drop when the S is released
How long will i have to wait?
Currently i think i can get a 16gb model for £340
so i'm hoping i can get that for my HD
cheers
You shouldn't have a problem selling it for at least £350... I was monitoring the HTC HD up till 2 weeks ago (I got mine last week, finally got it under contract from O2) coz I was thinking of getting one without contract..
All the phones were going for above £300, even the ones where it's been 'used' for a week or a month...
Might be selling mine on ebay after I get the TP2 with Tmob USA!
why dude whyyyyyyyyyy?
put a dutty or miri rom on and you're golden.
Good luck with your fruit.
Have you tried ebay?
Off topic. Hey homer that is a beautiful American Pitbull you have looks alot like mine but mine but with less white, to bad idiots and the media give them such a bad rep.

i've no doubt the hd is better in terms of specs etc
however, i want something that is quick to use, and doesn't give you rsi as you need to put a fair bit of pressure on the screen
who knows, i maybe back in a month!!!
You wont be back in a month trust me you wont be back to the HD at all.

lol, I've used the iPhone 3G for some months and now I'm back to the Touch HD and probably won't get an iPhone again (at least I definitely won't get the 3GS, I'm waiting for the Samsung i8000 or the Acer F1).
The iPhone is still way too limited. At least it's got copy&paste and voice control now but the camera still sucks, it still can't download things from the internet, the display resolution is still bad and lots of other things that were disturbing me.
Unlike the iPhone, my Touch HD does everything I want (except for good pictures in low light) and there's no situation where it lets me down because Windows Mobile is limitless.

Selling TG01

i was wondering if any1 wants to buy the TG01 before i hand it back to orange.
too much time wasted and makeing me nuts
any1 interested?
Thanks in advance
How much with shipping to US? Thanks
How much?
How much are you asking for your phone? i live in cornwall u.k.
How much ar eyou offering? Also it's best to put it on e-bay to avoid fraud complications.
yer, eBay looks good
It would be good if you could put it on eBay, as it would make it a lot easier for anyone to buy it.
Then post a link on here
I'm very interested - i still don't have one...
Why does it have to be ebay? Fraud is just as likely on ebay as it is on a forum. Doing a trade without ebay is much better, no ebay fees, no paypal fees, the price is normally better for the buyer, and less hassle for the seller.
as you see i aint really used it as much, so mint condition
it is also unlocked to all networks
i want £190
sorry for the high price
thanks for the intrest!!!!
Wasnt this phone originally only £150 on orange new payg? Then cost £10 to unlock? Imo, i think you would be better of posting on the marketplace forum, there ppl who havent got tg01 will be unaware of orange price and buy it.
Best of luc

it all depends up to u. it depends what mobile phone orange will offer you as a trade in. if it is a good choice like te htc desire or sony ericsson xperia than defo trade in. but, like i mentioned in my previous post, it may be worth putting on offer on the marketplace form. there are many ppl who will be interested i buying a snapdragon phone and even still, some ppl will think £190 is not a bad price.

Nah that offer was for a limited number of units and some guys thought smart and bought 20-30 units and are selling them for over 170 pounds each. I'm talking about new ones in their boxes. When I bought mine for 185 the guy had 10 more phones and after a week or so i ordered a second one from the same seller for a friend of mine that saw it and got jealous , and there were 2 last items for sale. just sell it for £130 and be happy

BestBuy - UK

Just thought i would let every one know that havent got their hands on the SII yet that BestBuy is selling it for £500 PAYG and they are also doing contracts.
They had about 10 in @ the one at lakeside shopping center.
They didnt even have them on show either.. i had to ask since they only got them in today... best thing is they have a test unit so you can play with the phone before you buy it.
£500 - £399 = £101 more profit than O2 PAYG some Best Buy ??

I guess its better for people who dont want to flash their device.. because they dont know how to and dont want to risk it.
True enough £100 for a stock rom .

Rather have the ton in my pocket soon as i have a backed up rom it will be customized anyway .
