[Q] How to create dual-boot with CM7 & OC Kernel? - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am new to the NOOK and just upgraded to stock v1.2.
I also created a 2GB SD card with CM7 v7.0 and installed the GAPPS upgrade. Everything works perfectly so far and thank you for all the great work everyone put in to not only figuring this out but also documenting the way to install it.
To improve on it: My wife likes the stock ROM and I like CM7 - from what I read there is a better way of dealing with that than pulling the SD card; i.e. install dual boot. I was searching and reading about this but got overwhelmed with all the info and updates.
Could someone point me in the right direction where I could read about installing/upgrading to [CM7 v7.0.2 + dual-boot + OC Kernel]? I don't mind starting with the card from scratch and mostly need the order of things I need to do. I would like to keep EMMC stock for now and install in SD.
Thank you in advance for your help
Tom

Converting from an NAND rom to SD Rom

Hi All,
Can we use the System.img released with NAND roms as an SD build?
I see many nice builds released right now for NAND, and a decrease in SD builds. I prefer to use SD based builds -> any solution?

There is a decrease because the NAND versions are so darn perfect and solid. I am assuming you want to continue with SD versions to keep WM 6.5 as a dual boot option? If not, then just do a NAND flash and use your SD card for what it was intended for, mass storage! NAND is the way to go, SD card is so last year! Lol!
I've actually been searching for the last couple of days for the complete opposite, converting a sd version to a nand. Already found the wonderful world of nand converting to cwm.
i would like to stick with sd version as i still havent found a fully satisfied version...i am wondering does nand will work way better and stable than sd version? because im keep changing different build to test which one is the best one out of them.
Its a matter of opinion, you have to at least have a base of what your looking for, for example, I like sense builds, not many are out there, but I try them, they all have their pros and cons, its what you can live with and what you cant. Or as many have said, make your own. I got into doing that with WinMo when I didnt like much of the builds out there. Now I may just read up on seeing about making my own build for myself.
But in short, have a base of what your looking for and go from there.
i tried to extract the system.img and put the files into a generated system.ext2, the process was successful, but the system.ext2 wont boot, it kept rebooting.
maybe there's another way to do this
Thanks for all the replies!
1. I like having both Winmo and Android although I do currently use Android more
2. I Am sure NAND builds are super-best-good-times, but I like flashing to have the latest and greatest and find it a big benefit to have WinMo at the backseat
3. Any success with this? are the kernels released for NAND compatible with SD?
It seems that most builds and work is on NAND builds I hope SD and RAM builds (which I think are the best of all worlds) won't be abandoned.

I am also interested in this
I am also interested in doing this. I need to still have my WinMo 6.5 so I can sync my work schedule (ANDROID is NOT supported or allowed) and I have notice a significant Lag in the GPS apps I have tried (IGO, and Aura) on a NAND ROM. If any chef has the time to walk me through it I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm using WP7 and duel boot with Android on SD, I will be returning to Android Nand as my main OS, but I will still test Android SD builds booting from Magldr. The SD forum has slowed down, so I would like to convert nand to sd also. Hopefully someone will find a solution soon. Why not have the best of both. When Magdlr 1.13 comes out, there will proberbly be more interest in this area.
i would also like to do this. because there is some nand roms i would like to convert for my personal use. please someone point us in the right direction.

I, too, am interested in such a conversion (NAND ROM to SD ROM).
If there is not already an app, there will be. After all, this is XDA.
Actually guys.. you should have used the search box!
Here's a way to do that

[Q] Extremely slow data trans on CM based roms

Even I couldn't find an answer on it's own thread, here I'm posting in here.Well, recently I flash TDJ's CM7 rom forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414796 & having a big problem (to me).Problem is that data transferring speed between pc & sd card is EXTREMELY slow.! This happened in CM7.1 too.I googled & couldn't find the right answer for this.
I have Sandisk 8gb C2 memory card.Sense gives me 4-8mbps tras speed.CM(both CM7.1 & TDJ's one) gives me 500kbps-1mbps! Look the difference.Usually I transfer movies to sd card. You know the sizes, no.700mb-2gb.This it's not happening for big files. Also happening for small files like 10mb..So guys, please help me.I really like this rom & wanna taste.

[Q] SD Card Crash ROM: CM7.2 Maniac 20130710

Hello All,
I have been reading many thread by now, trying to get my good old defy+ to work as I want it.
Now I would really like to get a fix for a ROM, but since I am a new user, can't post into the development thread of the ROM...so I give it a try here...
CM7.2 MANIAC 20131007
ROM thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2359305&page=7
ROM: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0ByzS9fSYbR8UUHVrRlgzdDB4NWM#list
I tried many roms, including >CM7.2 etc, but I found it this rom be the most stable and fast for what I need to do with my phone, except....
=>The SD card crash issues....
I have been reading up on the mmcfix info that is out there, but from that I conclude it should already be into this ROM...then how to fix SD crashes to happen every week? I am using Sandik 32Gb Ultra, which I found many people to have problems with also, only fix to change the card???
Thanks for the help, I am just not figuring it out through searching on my own...
