Really funny how it's only Samsung and Samsung made devices that are on the hit list so far....
Though if they drag google into it then ALL android devices will be affected... Will be funny to see how this will pan out as before it was Apple (America - LA) vs Samsung (Korea) and Apple won, now it will be Apple vs Google (both America based) and that might be a fairer match...

Apples litigation only alienates consumers. I for one will never purchase another product from them no matter how good it is.
They should try competing with products instead of competing in the court room.

I mean after sometime you just lose respect - they are in news for these court cases lately. If they had put this much energy in improving their own product(s), they wouldn't have to fall back on "retina" every time a new (really ?) product was released..

Apple says everything. Whine, whine, whine...

Apple: if you can't innovate, litigate.

Yes Apple feel Samsung is catching up and also overtaking them in innovations in cell phones so they are taking the easy way out they already were embarresed by a UK court and their appeals are not in good shape in US also with bans lifted on Tab so I think they are going insane.

I never used to dislike Apple so much, but every time they pull out another lawsuit it just makes me want to convert everyone to Android.

I think Apple are feeling threatened. 30 million SG3's sold. Several million Note 1 and 2's sold.
Trouble is, it makes people curious about Samsung products. I know several people that used to be Apple fans that are now Android owners, more to the point SG3 owners.

Good advertising for Samsung and Apple just look like little *****es who go running to the courts everytime a bigger better toy is released....
I mean, they pretty much, in their last court case, said that Samsung is the same as them just cheaper... I too know a few people who shifted to Android because of the attention Apple put on Samsung products...

Girlfriend was reluctant but a hand me down gs2 from me did the trick. She on the gs3 now and iPhone 4 is a distant memory.

Well, as a matter of fact Android and Sammy-phones ARE better than Apple-CrAppel-Crap, and I am DEFINITELY NOT a tech-religious.
I had Motorola, I had Compaq iPaq, I had NOKIA with Symbian, I had HTC with WinCE, I have now Android, and when Win8 prooves to be fitting to my personal needs more than Android I will move on.
I had one iPad, and I put it away after 2 weeks since it prooved to be absolutely worthless for my personal needs in every respect starting with the stupid keyboard.
CrApple is not tech, it is religion, and we KNOW what misery most religions brought over the world in the past and now, and Apple is on his holy Jihad against rationality .......................

Apple is a wining kid who instead of fighting hard believes in loosing and crying over it and does not want to try again and win instead it believes in crying and wining over and over again

Apple Sues Samsung Electronics Over 'Galaxy' Phone, Tab

http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20110418-711262.html
SAN FRANCISCO (Dow Jones)--Apple Inc. (AAPL) sued Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (005930.SE, SSNHY) claiming the Korean electronics giant copied the look and feel of its popular iPhone smartphones and iPad tablet computers.
The lawsuit, filed on April 15 in the Northern District of California, alleged that Samsung's smartphones, such as the "Galaxy S 4G," "Epic 4G," "Nexus S" and its "Galaxy Tab" touchscreen tablet, violated Apple's intellectual property.
"Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple's technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products," the lawsuit said.
Representatives of Apple and Samsung did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The lawsuit is sure to complicate the relationship between the two consumer electronics giants. Samsung makes microchips that are used in some Apple products.

If you think Apple is the only tech company suing for frivolous and stupid things, and it fits your worldview that Apple is the devil, then it is a really pathetic sort of deliberate ignorance. There are so many tech companies suing each other right now, and counter-suing, it's part of their morning routine to let the lawyers out while sipping some finely brewed espresso.

Apple is suing everyone.. Amazon for the "app store' name, HTC, Motorola, and other companies for the 'swipe to do something' feature.. it's just a never ending story.
it sure took Apple a long time to notice the similarities between their products and Samsung's...or any other phone manufacturer for that matter. A dinner plate is like the moon if you point out enough common properties.
Apple: "Oh my god you copied the iPad and made it smaller, put cameras on it, and an sd card slot too?! shame on you! (...hey that camera idea is not bad..lets put them on the iPad2...)"
i can understand that they would see a imitation of the iPhone 3gs through the galaxy s.
but seriously, they are still selling iPhones like no other company is selling.
and their newest model, the iPhone 4 looks completely different.
and to say that Samsung is imitating the look and feel of the ipad with the galaxy tab is completely ridiculous.

All good points above. But understand this is the way of corporate America.
I am part owner of a company that imports musical instruments to the US. Specifically guitars.
I cannot tell you how many times I have received letters from Fender, Gibson, Taylor attorneys. NONE of my guitars are marked with these names, some of them do look similar.
But as has been said above, how many different guitar designs can there be? Made of wood, with a neck, 6 strings???
We have always replied stating that we do not use the name or photograph of THEIR product to sell ours. We have only once been sued by a guitar manufacturer for intellectual property rights violations. We fought, we won. But it cost us nearly $50k.
These corporations HAVE to do this. They have to draw a line in the sand and not allow others to infringe. Because at the point they no longer do that, they open themselves to ALOT of lost revenue.
I'll just leave this right here...
Found this article on www.cnn.com and kinda makes sence. I would love though to see samsung counter sue apple though imagine the amount of money they would get from iphone sales LOL.

Its too bad Apple, has fallen off with innovation and creativity, they really do make products that for the most part work great....but stale product offerings have really pushed me away from their mobile devices....there really isnt enough in iOS nor current iPhones/the newest iPad to get me to go out and buy one of their devices, and I've used iphones and ipads since their release...I will say however i still love using my MB Air =) Wondering what the iP5 will bring, iOS6 was just announced and I couldnt have been any less enthused..

Uh no they won't. Google isn't intimidating like Apple when it comes to concept patenting for a start. Google also did not patent turn by turn navigation or is the first that came up with this idea. GPS devices had turn by turn nav years ago.
It's annoying reading the tech bloggers at engadget and other sites being absolutely blown away by improvements such as higher resolution displays, more ram, more memory, etc. When Samsung or Asus comes up with a tablet or pc with higher resolution than an iPad they toss it off as an unnecesary improvement over something that was already ok.
They "reinvented" the laptop by what? Making it thinner? Sure, it's an amazing product, but an Asus transformer is a much larger step towards the future. I guess we'll keep seeing "lack of micro sd slot" in the Cons list of the HTC One X but fail to see the same on every iPhone's.

Comments, Thoughts, Last Wishes?
I am not saying this will happen, but is quite possible if the government doesn't block Apple in their tracks from doing so... (I think once Google Appeals, these parents will be made standard for touchscreens...)
The one saving grace is that it's pretty clear the current patent system that dates back to George Washington in 1790 is clearly broken as it applies to technology. Should Apple start abusing their horde of patents to eliminate competition leaving them as the only purveyor of functioning smartphones and tablets governments worldwide will intervene. It's already started with Judge Posner throwing out the Apple v. Motorola case in Chicago with prejudice calling it "ridiculous" based on lack of or concocted damages. If Apple wins the Samsung case in California they'll lose anyway. It'll be the beginning of a massive move toward patent reform because in a democratic society you don't let one manufacturer control an entire industry whether their patents entitle them to or not.
Patent reform needed...
Old news, a repost and a lot of misleading and wrong information. Good job trying to direct traffic to your site thought, you could have just asked.

How exactly does Apple have patents for things they didn't invent? Oh, wait, I remember now, theft.
I'm not sure that Apple CAN be granted patents for technology that already existed - smartphones have been around far longer than the iPhone, despite what the Apple folks would have us believe and I had phones that were doing these sorts of things long before Apple came along.
The law may be an ass, but I don't think it's a complete tool.

I'm bugging over this big time. I even ranted about it on twitter and on facebook. Samsung has to pay $1.05 billion to Apple and Apple isn't guilty of jack? This is some BS. It's like what another Spaniard tweeted:
"If Apple made cars, it'd be the only one that can make them with four wheels, rearview mirrors and a steering wheel"
By the time the appeals process is completed it will probably be much less, possibly even nothing. Court cases aren't over this fast.
Well, Samsung isn't really innocent, when you take a look at the Galaxy S and S2 you will see that it's very similar to the iPhone 3/3GS and the iPhone 4. If 1.05 Billion dollar are really justified is something else but I think Samsung just gets what it deserves.
The iPhone is a touchscreen and a button. There isn't anything to copy. You can't just patent essential elements to something. That would be like if Ford sued every car that had four wheels and a steering wheel.
F#%& apple even more. Samsung all the way

There goes innovation. Wth happened to antitrust laws? The verdict today totally goes against antitrust. Way to support monopoly today.

Then I'd say you take a look at all the other OEMs like Sony, Nokia ect. Their devices look very different from the iPhone and they are accused of copying the design of the iPhone. I really can't understand why there are people who refuse to admit that Samsung took a very close look at the iPhone when they were designing the Galaxy S and S2.
I don't know about you guys but I'm looking forward to speaker-less, circular Nexus phones in the future! Innovation FTW!!!
Wow everything apple said in the statement was complete and utter lies.. Apple thrives on originality and innovation? I since when did apple innovate? They copied the cell phone, computer and everything in between... Very sad for Samsung indeed

Does that potentially make it a "monapplely"
Samsung didn't take the case seriously.
Apple only has their "image" and "aesthetics" which define them as a company. Of course they would come to court about Image and likeness patents with everything in their bags.
I didn't buy my phone cause it looked like an apple product and design elements that made it act like an apple product. I bought it cause is WASN'T an Apple product.
People don't buy a Samsung tablet because they "though it was an iPad" they buy it cause they don't want an iPad.
I always though the obligatory apple logo and the silly cases with the hole in it to show the logo was the distinguishing feature of iCrap.

That's really funny because apple was saying that so many people were complaining about samsungs tablet because they thought it was an Ipad and they were saying it was ****.
if anyone is that stupid to buy a samsung tablet and get it mixed for an ipad then they have to be working for apple. Evidently if someone thinks a samsung tablet is an ipad it will be someone working for them because they want to make a case for every patent. "ITS A RECTANGLE WITH ROUNDED EDGES" "ITS A TOUCH SCREEN" "IT'S 10"" "IT'S BETTER THEN OURS AND WERE JUST MAKING EXCUSES"
****ing apple, cry me a river, we all know apples aren't loved by everyone, and besides, what would this world be like if we didn't have oranges and peaches and such?

Puleese. the Galaxy S2 looks nothing like the iphone 4. And even if you think Samsung deserves some punishment, you can't justify somethign as retarded as ALL of those phones infringing. I mean like all of them including the Nexus S 4g and a phone with a Qwerty keyboard.

you tell me where these 2 phones look the same? samsung is bigger, slimmer and is made of plastic and the home button on it is a rectangle not a circle. Is this an imitation of the iphone 4s? hell naw, it's just a phone thats black, is a touch screen and has a button on it... I don't even realize how apple justified their case. The jury must of been a bunch of retards, they shouldve based their judgement off of common sense and not the patent law
imho, Samsung is the real copycat...copying the design of both hardware and software, even to the things like dock connector and store concept. this is good, a slap in the face for any copycat lurking around, forcing everyone to come up with even better designs like how Nokia did
the only thing i feel original about Samsung is the Nexus series.
The outcome to the trial was not surprising at all. Samsung did violate Apple's patents. But Apple should have never been granted those patents in the first place. Bounce back when scrolling to the end of a menu. What type of BS is it that that is a patentable invention. The only way I can see that Samsung violated that patent is if Apple provided that Samsung ripped the code straight from iOS source code and used it line for line in their UI. Otherwise Apple basically has a patent covering the idea of a particular UI element.
We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas.

You know what those are? Steve Jobs favorite quotes. Enough said
When it comes to software patents the patent system is a joke. And its not just Apple. How can Amazon have a patent for one click checkout. On its own that is an idea and abstract concept. The only thing that should be patentable about that is the underlying code. If someone comes along and makes another one click checkout system but the underlying source code and software methods are different, how can that be infringement? I just wish Google would play a more active role in defending its android partners from Apple. They should be able to destroy apple on a search patent, right? Google is search so the patent office must have granted them the patent for "method and apparatus for searching"
Apple has always been like this only but those retards cant seem to work a way out to give a proper balance of hardware and software at a good price , so whats better way to reap your losses over some other company's profit . The kind of patents they have been filing its like 2+2=4 but 3+1=4 cant be put . Yes copying source code would be different case but that's not the thing here.
lost all respect for apple, will never ever buy an apple product again in my life

They can't because they didn't file a patent for it. Maybe they should...or not, don't stoop down to Apple's level: Filing patents for such general things such as shape of a device. Sheeesh
