Cyanogen rc4 with 2 errors - Nexus S General

2g/3g bar widget freeze the radio generating fc's, and battery status never goes to 100%.
Anyone has the same problems in nexus s?
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk

I couldn't go to 100% since RC2..2g/3g bar widget seems to work ok for me...

battery % is a safety issue so your battery doesn't over charge and explode. If you insist on having a 100% charge, when it says charged but is only at 95% (or more commonly 97%) unplug the phone and plug it back in and google trickle charging to get a good idea of why this happens. 2g/3g toggle has been an issue for lots of people since early on but most are reporting that it is working fine for them now. May be time for a good total wipe and fresh install. I found that not using titanium backup for my apps has improved the performance of my phone pretty signifigantly. Just be sure to backup all your saved game data and reinstall all your apps the old fashioned way.

You're sort of right about the charging issue, technically the phone STOPS charging at a certain percentage. The issue with trickle charging is that it doesn't stop charging. The issue is that the phone should charge to 100% then stop and start up again (for example on the Evo it drops down to 90% before kicking back in) however the Nexus S after 2.3.3 charges only to 97-ish%. This is not how it is supposed to happen though I've not seen anyone who was adequately able to explain why it was screwed up in the newest update.

Is possible than i have % or charger discalibrated? If yes, have any solution to recalibrate it?
I will try make a new fresh install to solve the 2g/3g widget bar error.

I have noticed unlimited reboots with RC4. Back to RC2

I have always experienced 97% charge even fresh out of the box and have read many reports of others with the same experience.

Only thing I can think is to let your phone charge all the way down till it shuts off and then charge it back to full while turned off. This has helped me in the past.

I recommend only backing up user apps + data, as backing up system data sometimes will give you problems. Once in TB click you setting menu and sellect batch. Now click the option that says backup user apps +data and confirm. Now when you wipe your data in CWM and do a fresh install just install TB from the market and use the same batch menu but instead of backing up user apps + data use the restore user apps + data option.

So check this out: Titanium Backup was giving me trouble. Maybe six or seven apps into the backup, it would freeze, and then reboot (RC2, RC3, AND RC4). After a few reboots, the phone turned back on and said that the SD Card was unreadable and that it had errors, I rebooted it with a few swift battery pulls and all is good. In closing: I successfully backed everything up.
Now, I still kept getting reboots on RC2, 3, and 4. I could not think of why, and then it dawned on me, that it's probably the kernel I installed for BLN and 1.4GHz overclock. I installed h14-blnV4-vs6-cm7.zip.... Could this be the reason I am getting reboots? Because in SetCPU I changed it from 1400MHz to 1000MHz ondemand and I haven't yet come across a reboot. So, it could be the kernel and not CM7, RIGHT??
And if that's the case, is there a better kernel out there? or should I just be careful when overclocking?
Thanks

Same problem here, it totaly kills the radio. Reboot doesnt help only reflash helps.
Tested on fresh install (wiped everything before) without custom kernel, even without any app installed.

Positive Experience With Bell I9000m + Doc Froyo 7.6.2 + Battery Life Question

I thought I'd start a thread detailing my successful experience installing Doc's Froyo rom with the few snags I met along the way, and see if anyone had similar experiences they were able to fix.
I'd been running JH2 for a few months without any major issues, but wanted Adobe Air support so I figured I'd bite the bullet and update. I followed the steps below:
- Backed everything up (nandroid and Titanium, just in case)
- Cleared caches via CWM
- Didn't do a factory reset because I was feeling brazen
- Used CWM to flash rom
- Rebooted as the instructions told me to, set up the various tweaks and voodoo kernel
- Installed the Swype pack
- Applied the application packs
The applications wouldn't install unless I dropped out of CWM to 2e and flashed them as an update.zip, which was odd but worked once I tried it that way.
So far, two days later, my phone has been stable and responsive with no FC issues. Incoming and outgoing calls work well, all of the data from my apps was where it needed to be and I've not experienced any market issues; all-in-all, it's a great experience. A few minor (I'm assuming) problems below:
- I've noticed that when the screen is on, the phone runs MUCH warmer than it used to. About the same temperature as it gets when I'm making a call and the signal is quite low.
- The battery life seems to be directly related to the temperature, if the phone is asleep, it appears to give me the same amount of drain overnight as my previous JH2 system. If I use the phone with the screen on, however, I lose approximately 13% per hour with nothing running other than gmail in the background, handcent, and an offline card game.
My next steps will be to test various lag-fixes included to see if the temperature and battery problems persist, but as long as they're not affecting anything (e.g. won't kill my internal / external SD) I can comfortably say I'm still very happy with the upgrade. In the meantime, if anyone has any information they'd like to share that might help out, I'd be very appreciative!
*a couple hours later*
I disabled the lag fix and have had the phone running a 20 minute video on YouTube over the HSPA connection after sitting with the screen on (min brightness) for a half hour. The results: the phone is barely warm to the touch and the battery has only dropped a few percent. That would lead me to believe that the problems were almost certainly based on the lag fix I had applied in the modified CWM included with Doc's rom. I'm going to mess around a bit more to see if I can verify this for certain, but I thought I'd update this post in the meantime.
My phone is very warm with this setup as well.
Further Investigating Reveals...
The lag fix really does appear to be the culprit for both the temperature and battery life problems I was having. I left my phone doing various things and took some notes:
5:11pm - Batt: 39% - Started Quake 2 and left it running with sound on
5:21pm - Batt: 35% - Quit Quake 2 and left the phone running with google talk, screen on
6:00pm - Batt: 28% - Screen still on, various apps running here and there, a bit of youtube
7:00pm - Batt: 19% - Turned screen off, left google talk running, received a few texts and gtalk messages
7:41pm - Batt: 18% - Screen still off, more messages
8:03pm - Batt: 16% - Standby, still...
8:35pm - Batt: 15% - Still on standby, few more texts
10:45pm - Batt: 9% - Standby, texts, just going to let it die completely at this point
Throughout all of that, I checked the temperature on the phone by touching the back of the case and the screen. With the lag-fix enabled, they were both quite hot just playing a card game, but this time running quake and streaming video left the screen cool to the touch and the back never got more than slightly warm.
So that's where I am right now, I'm going to try some of the other lag-fixes tomorrow when I have some time.
I just recently changed to docs rom and checking out which lagfix will give me the performance I want but the battery life I can use. Going oclf to jfs to ext 4 over the next few days with no other changes. We will see

Try Doc's JP6 V6 Rom.. the battery life on it is great... the new version 7.6.2 my battery life is not that good its likely the radio causing the issue. if you clear your battery stats files you do get better battery life. also when you clear your battery stats make sure you do it when the phone is at 100%
I flashed the latest doc rom. Lost 850 band and even though it's selected in the 0011 menu it never switches to out anymore. Other than that minor bugs but very quick.

The reports of better battery life on that one in the (very extensive) thread on Doc's rom. I noticed it was hot nearly immediately after booting up, so that was one of the first things I did which means I can't really say whether or not it was worthwhile.
The battery life while I'm using this build isn't great, and I noticed yesterday the phone was certainly running warmer with the screen on than normal. My data speeds also seem relatively slow, about half of what I was used to before, but that could just be where I was in the house when I ran Speed Test.
Still 80% happy, though, and am able to work on some app development in Adobe Air, which was my main motivation for 2.2
I installed 7.6.2 last night, had some problems getting SWYPE installed but mostly because I didn't realize I needed to use 2e to get it to work.
Lost 850 band but using the COMBI menu I was able to re-add it and it seems okay now. I installed a different icon pack so I'm probably not used to how it looks now, signal sort of seems lower but maybe just my perception.
Battery life seems a little lower but I haven't used the phone enough to know for sure and I'm using a round battery indicator with numbers which is a lot more accurate than the crappy indicator that comes with the default stock rom.
My biggest issue now is that I can't take incoming calls. The phone app FCs and I don't know how to fix it. It was suggested I copy my /efs backup overtop of what exists on the device now but I can't see how that will make any difference.
I installed JPA (instead of JPO) but I'm not sure that matters much.
If copying over /efs makes no difference I may be forced to do a factory reset and try again, which I'm not thrilled about since the phone is so close to being 100% functional. I guess if I HAVE to try again I'll try JPO instead.

I have read that a factory reset from FroYo can brick your phone, I'd avoid that. Did you try clearing all of the caches from the clockwork recovery menu? I recall reading somewhere that would fix the FC on incoming calls issue.
Did any of you sucessfully flashed a bunch of times and had no sd corruption on i9000m ?
I bricked 2 phones already... Froyo was working fine for 1 week then, one morning black screen

No dice, launched into CWR, cleared the cache and dalvik cache, fixed the permissions, then rebooted, took forever and still get FC when the phone rings.
It feels like some sort of software issue so the other hint I got about copying back the backup of /efs seems like a red herring to me. At this point I'm at a loss. The ROM seems pretty decent (I don't know if I agree with a lot of the hype around it) but without incoming calls it's pointless.

flashed 7.6.2 today. seems to be working great. snappy. no lagfixes applied.
i see the he just released v8, but didn't want to try it so soon after release.
edit: phone was fine and then everything was FC'ing. I restarted it and now I loop the boot screen. still have cwm, so i will start fooling around with it tomorrow.
edit2: flashed with odin back to jh2. seems to be okay.

[q] a few questions (battery, missing market, fc youtube)

sorry if some of these questions have already been asked and answered. unfortunantely, my computer crashed due to a manufacturing flaw so I can only access google and this forum via my epic (which can be a pain sometimes). also, since heros threads are always deleted, I cannot ask these questions there. please, any feedback and help would greatly appreciated.
okay so I reflashed backed snack 1.6 w/ ultimate after testing some of the newest froyo builds. id rather wat until I get the official ota upgrade.
after reflashing 1.6 for some reason, android market doesn't appear to be installed. where can I download the application? I even tried reflashing 1.6 over itself but that didn't work.
also, I'm using the new gingerbread youtube but I signed in and now I get a constant fc when I try to open it. how can I fix this? if I can't, where can I download an earlier version of youtube?
another question. this time about battery. using 1.6 w/ ultimate, I get fairly decent battery. only problem is, my battery stats say that my display and standby are what is killing my battery the most. nothing ever runs in the background, every so often I unlock my phone to either check the time or texts or facebook real quick, brightness is on its lowest setting, silent mode, juicedefender running correctly (battery life: x1.56), no data running in the background, drm killed, battery calibrated and battery stats wiped, and everything else possible to to save battery.
and something I'm noticing now that the phone is charging, the battery is quite hot and I'm not even using the phone. it only overheats when its charging and I've also noticed that its only hot when I use certain roms/kernels. any insight on this issue? any way to monitor and regulate temperature?
once again, any help would be appreciated!

Ill take a stab at these. Reason for you market not showing, can't say? Did you wipe 3 times before flashing bs 1.6?
Also never sign in on gingerbread youtube on 2.1 build. I don't think anyone has got that working yet. Simply clear the cache for youtube and you should be set.
Lastly, I don't know what to say about your bettery.. what do you have setcpu running at? Do you have profiles to lower your phones speed when in standby? Couldn't hurt to give it a shot.
Sorry about your computer, all my info is based on personal experience don't really have a "dev" type answer for ya. But hope some of this helps.

thank you for your reply.
yes I did wipe both data, cache, and davlik 3 times. I guess I will do that now and report back.
how would I go about clearing the cache for one specific app? I know I can do that when I open up my settings and go to app development but youtube doesn't show up in that list.
setpcu is oc at 1300 and uc at 200 conservative. profiles are as follows:
charging/full - 1000 and 200 conservative
battery < 15% - 800 and 400 conservative
screen off - 600 and 400 conservative
yeah, brand new computer too. all of a sudden it couldn't recognize the hard drive. and yes, most of my info is based on personal experience and creeping on forums.
edit: wiped everything 3 times and reflashed. market till not appear.

For youtube I just open it up without a data connection and step through the process of signing out only enabling data when needed.
If you're missing market then you need to flash back stock with odin then start fresh. Baked doesn't remove market at all. If anything it's the fastest responding market I've used.
Heat from the battery is usually caused by programs requesting cycles or data. Just restart the phone before bed after your initial battery calibration.

as I stated, I have no computer at the moment. so using odin to go back to stock is out of the question as of now. hopefully there's got to be another way without using odin. if not then I suppose I'm stuck in this predicament until I get my computer back from geek squad. and yes, I've never had a problem with heroes work before. but for some reason, this is happening.
and as I've stated before, no programs or data run in the background on my phone. after initial calibration I rebooted it. and after every boot, I toggle airplane mode on and then off. ill continue to moniter battery temps and see if the problem persists.

Maybe you can try reinstalling 1.6 over top of itself. I don't really see anything wrong with that, but as stated before though. Make sure you wipe cache and dalvichk 3 times each before you do so.

Battery woes.... already?

I'm so confused.
Just got the mytouch 4g. Charged it, as it said in the book, until it was fully charged. Used it all day until it was drained and then recharged it this evening. Just looked at it now. In 5 hours since unplugging, it's down to 56%. 56!
So weird. And I barely use any apps. I made a conscious effort to keep it as clean as possible.
Help!
Hmmm alot of data is missing from your end but this is what I suggest as basic. Make your blacklight dim so it does not use alot of energy as this is the highest cause of battery drainage during actual awake time. Then disable any unwanted useless services from boot trust me there are lot and also disable them if they restarts. You can also use SetCPU taking you have OC based kernel then make profile to scale your mCPU based on max/avg/idle.
Best advice for you is don't charge the battery, get it low as 1% then do full charge and check your actual usage cycle the uptime/awake time later. Which rom are you using? OCing? if you don't need it just underclock it no need to OC just for the hell of it.

when i leave my 4G/3G/Edge idle, it burns my batteries like mad
unless he has the screen on all day, i dont see how 5 hours would burn 50% of his batteries. even without killing all his task
No I was asking you to clarify as you mean to say completely disable data when you are idle? well you can do that if you have nothing that requires access but most folks have email and other elements that does require it. But yes it would improve it but that depends on him and how/what he has setup.
Whats your uptime/awake time with full bat cycle?
JuiceDefender does that, it disables the mobile data connection when the screen is off, but you can let some apps bypass that have it on every 15minutes or so to have it sync.
I've been playing around with it, and it does improve battery life, but it's not for me though, cause it does take a good 3-8 seconds until you get the "H" or your data connection back.
LOL I was curious and searched "Juice" my 8.1gb paid app archive of market that I just cURLed few days ago and came across UltimateJuice LOL so I guess ill run it. I have so many stuff... only if I could install it and test it but its not possible as its close to 11k apps.
Theres so much that can effect the batteries on these phones. Weak signal, apps running in the background, coutless things.
These are "super phones". I keepo a data cable in my pocket, and a car charger in the car at all times. My phone basically lives on the charger. Its easier that way. I know, not the answer you were looking for, but if you want your phone to do everything it was capable of then thats something you may have to deal with. You could turn all sync off and make sure nothing is ever doing anything in the background, but then whats the point in haing such an amazing phone?
C&P response from every other battery life thread:

The first thing to check is if your phone is being affected by the init or suspend bugs. The good news is the former has an easy fix, and the latter can be temporarily fixed by a reboot.
First, download & install Watchdog Lite from the market. Then open its preferences and check "include phone processes," "monitor phone processes," and "display all phone processes." Then just use your phone as normal. It may take a while before you get an alert from Watchdog (and maybe you never will and it ends up you have a different problem). But if you do, note the process that is the culprit.
If it is the init process, go to settings>applications>development> check "usb debugging."
If it is the suspend process, reboot the phone. It should keep it from happening again for a while.
I know the second answer isn't really an answer, but so far it's all we've got for that problem. There is more information on the 2 problems in these threads:
Init:

Suspend:

Good luck...I had both of the problems and my phone didn't last to dinner time. Now I get better battery life than the iphone 3GS I had before this...over a full day of moderate use.

Ya you can go take a look in Ice Glacier v1.1.6 see which you like the regular or themed version.
QL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844594
Battery life is all relative. Every single person will experience different battery life. The apps you have installed, the amount of time you spend on it and the time you spend on/in each app, distance from cell towers, distance from Wi-Fi sources, settings you have for every app and things like sync and what not.
I have the same problem at work (building)...poor reception = constantly reconnecting = major battery drain..

Thanks, I didn't think one existed. I just wish these cooks would put up some screenshots sometimes.
Quick unrelated question... is there any way I can JUST root for access to the phone and then delete the things I don't want with Titanium by myself. I really DO like the phone the way it is and I just wanna lose some of the network connected crap like the T-Mo faves, etc.
Thanks

Yes. You can just root and use the stock rom if you like. Use Titanium to freeze unwanted apps rather than uninstalling them. That way, if something starts behaving strangely, you can unfreeze apps to troubleshoot. Uninstalling system apps is permanent and Titanium doesn't backup system apks, only data. I haven't used it, but I believe Iced glacier is what you're looking for. The unthemed version is basically stock mt4g without bloat with some performance tweaks.

Thanks! You know, the thing is that with rooting, from my WinMo days when it was a really risky process, I developed this fear of rom flashing just because of the risk of screwing up. I know Android is much easier to flash with a ROM but it still freaks me out a bit and if it's not COMPLETELY necessary, as it was on the 3g slide I just had, I try not to do it. But I'll check out the unthemed Ice Glacier. I just wish I could see some screen shots or get an explained list of what mods are done to the stock rom on it.

The other thing you can do , if you like the stock ROM but just want to get rid of the bloatware, is to temp root using Visionary+, then use terminal, and disable the apps you don't want. I forgot where i saw it, but that's what I did and it works great. Also, if you ever want it back, it's not erased, just go back and enable it by typing "enable" instead of "disable" in the instructions below.
In Terminal Emulator (with root):
$"su" <enter>
#"pm list packages" <enter>
#"pm disable exact.NameOFApp.IncludingCase.SensitivityAnd.Periods" <enter>
#
You're done; it should be removed from your app drawer and everything. It will still show up in the package list, so if you want to enable it again, just pick it out of the list and follow the same directions replacing "disable" with "enable."

I don't get the concept of "temp rooting" vs real or full rooting. Does that mean it unroots if you reboot? What's the temp part?
That's it. Temp root goes away on reboot.

Alliance 7.7

OK, so I'm a noob (to evo) and can't post on the dev thread for the Alliance 7.7 ROM so I'm going to throw this out here and hope for a response.
I tried RLS1 and didn't like it, there was some functions that irritated me so I went back to 7.7.
I like 7.7, I've got it stable, no sense reloads and I love the functionality.
However, my battery life is atrocious!!! I thought this was supposed to help save batt life??? I burned about 50% batt life in less than 3 hours in sleep mode!??
What did I do wrong??
I've been experimenting with Task Killer, Juice Defender and other supposedly power "saving" apps and settings but I haven't found the "holy grail" yet.
I'd really like someone to point me in the right direction if at all possible..Thanks!
Did you try calibrating your battery when you first flashed the rom?
Try downloading the battery calibration app by nema from the market.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
What PRI do u have? If you go into settings and about phone (I'm not exactly sure if that's the correct path) it should tell you. If your running something newer than 1.77 some phones have a wake issue where it wont let the phone sleep with newer PRI's. Try downgrading to 1.77, the wake issue should then be gone.
You can get PRI 1.77 from here just make sure you backup your WiMax keys before you flash, you know just in case something goes wrong. : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
Maybe its one of the apps that your using that's not letting your phone sleep hence your battery drain. Spare parts on the market should show you if any apps are keeping your phone awake.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.androidapps.spare_parts
Or your battery is going bad? I was having such horrible battery life with my Evo that after a while it just couldn't hold a charge anymore. I purchased a new one and all is well now.
Try an AOSP rom? AOSP roms tend to have better battery life than Sense roms. They don't have many services running in the background eating up memory.
I can't think of anything else anymore but hope this helps!

Our of stupidity but, how exactly can you back up your WiMax Keys? Where can you go? Lol sorry, feel free to troll on me for asking that
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Lol Oh no none of that. I don't troll on anyone for not knowing something, we've all been there. Are you using amon ra recovery 2.3? If so, boot into recovery, go to backup/restore, nandroid backup and then it'll give u a list of things you might want to select to backup. Just unselect everything, select wimax and then select perform backup. It should take a couple of mins and then your done.
Actually I'm using ClockWork Mod 2.6 just seemed easier to me than AmonRa. (weird I know). but ok, nand back up and just select the WiMax info??
Also, v7.7 had an undervolt script built into it that some phones, mine included don't like. Might try flashing alliance rls2. Had the script removed.

thanks for the info, I think the battery calibration helped a little, only 30% depleted after about 8 hours with moderate use.
I found I do have a newer PRI, version 1.90_003
Before I go messing with it, what is the PRI and what does it do?

one of the reasons I didn't like RLS1 was the way they had the personalize button set to open the Kingsrom website. Did they change that, or is there a way to change it?
oi, I had things going pretty well with 7.7 but it started getting glitchy and slow. Don't know why because once I had everything running smooth I didn't mess with it anymore. Reboot helped for a little while but started glitching again shortly after.
I decided to go to RLS2, it's running smooth but my lockscreen shortcuts have dissapeared and I can't get them back, any ideas on that??

You might try going into your personalize settings and select a different lock screen, I know there are a couple that take that certain option away LOL I use the weather one with the app selector or the wallpaper with the app selector. Hope it helps

no good, lock screen isn't displaying the way it should, tried several and nothing changes.
Did a factory reset and the lock screen is working correctly again. There must have been something that glitched when I restored my settings.
Tried restoring my backups and it the lock screen isn't right again. So I guess I either live with it or start from scratch again..

Hashcode's Jellybean ROM problems

I can't post in the development thread so I thought I'd post here. I just flashed Hashcode's latest Jellybean build for the KF a minute ago. I am experiencing some problems and would like to know if anyone could help me with them. First off, the Play Store keeps force closing on me. I am running the 7/11 JB Gapps and that's supposed to fix it. Second, battery life has seemed to me at least, to be less than average. I started counting at 40% and in about 20 minutes it was at 34% and stayed there for a long time. I rebooted and it was at 28% which then almost immediately dropped to 27%. I went through all the settings and disabled any battery drainers I could find such as, background apps running, location services, Gmail notifications, etc. Does anyone know how I can improve my battery life? Before I flashed this rom I was running JackpotClavin's ICS build and that had stellar battery life. (Only need to charge every 3 or 4 days). I tried updating to Hashcode's 3.0 kernel and ROM based off CM9 a couple of months ago and battery life was a issue there too. Please help if you can.
Thanks,
wws

You didn't state what charge your battery was at when you flashed jbean. If you did not have a full 100% charge then you will need to clear your battery stats (when at 100%) and let it discharge fully to have a properly calibrated battery stats.
Not to hijack your thread or anything but i have had some problems with the latest build as well my friend
wifi doesn't want to connect for me.... like it detects the networks and tries to connect to my dlink router but its stuck on obtaining ip address..
i had no problems on the previous build with wifi after the adb fix.
help for both of us would be greatly appreciated.
Umurin94 did u to a clean install or dirty? If u did dirty I'd try deleting the network and adding it again and for the OP if market isn't working go to settings-> apps and clear data on the play store

I installed the first version of Hash's JB after doing a System wipe and I had a number of small issues including Gapps. I finally went back and reinstalled it after doing a Factory Reset. That fixed all of the problems I was having. Of course it wipes your settings and data but for me it was worth it. You might want to try the Factory Reset. I played with the JB all day yesterday and got very good battery life and the charging indicators were working. I really think the battery issues are related to the 3.0 kernel.

My battery was at 40% when I first flashed JB. I'm not sure how to do a battery stats reset, could you tell me how to? I'll try doing a factory reset tomorrow. Is there any way I could backup my apps and then restore them after I wipe it? Kind of a pain to redownload everything

at first i did a dirty install and saw it wasn't working so i wiped everything and even downloaded the rom again and reflashed... i'm still having the same issue.
eventually it says "Avoided poor internet connection" under the networks name but it says the signal strength is Excellent and is 1mbps which is weird.

Just clear the data in the Play Store. Just had that issue when flashing the update. You'll need to login to Google again, but that should be all that's needed. If there's more FC happening, just delete the apps and reinstall them using Google Play and that should take care of it.

Can you send me a "logcat" via "aLogcat" from the market or do this via adb: adb logcat > logcat.txt
and send me the logcat.txt to hashcode0f at gmail.com
No I mean I am going to try factory resetting tomorrow and was wondering if there was a app or utility of some sort that will backup my installed Play apps so I don't have to reinstall everything when I reset. I tried clearing data from the Play Store but it still force closes as soon as I open it.

You want to go into TWRP Recovery?
Turn off device
Turn on device, then hold down power button until
a) If you have FFF1.4a a little menu will come up at the bottom and select Recovery
b) If you have an older version of FFF, the power LED will turn orange.
thanks so much. been using kfu for that. knew there was a way.
USB and ADB Mount
Hi, I installed the latest rom doing just a cache and dalvik wipe and could not mount USB or ADB except in Recovery. I reinstalled the rom including a factory wipe and now can mount USB and ADB normally. Everything works beautifully. Thank you Hash.
Ok new issue. USB charging does not work! I tried unplugging and replugging, no go. Only way I can get it to charge is with the AC adapter. Also Hash, how is work coming along on the 3.0 kernel. Will the charging light issues be fixed soon? Not rushing you, just was wondering how much progress is being made.

Ok all. I think I might have fixed the extreme battery drain on this ROM. Turn off location sharing in accounts>your account>maps>location sharing and set wifi settings to disable wifi when in sleep mode. Charge your kindle to 100 percent and do a battery stats reset in TWRP. I am now getting 80% remaining after 20 hours on battery. Hope this will fix the battery problems you might be having.:fingers-crossed:

Thanks for the tip, seems like turning the wifi off when in sleep mode would be common sense but it definitely went over my head. Saving a ton of battery already!
