First Windows Phone 7 HD 7 ROM Radio flashing only, New update 23.12.2010, by ansar.

Dear forum members,
Update on 23.12.2010:
The following is been achieved with extensive work and is considered as big step forward.
A new way for ROMs signature gives 4 times faster flashing time than the original.
All official and custom ROMs will be re uploaded including the missing device picture:

In case your device is flashed with the official Htc European ROM:
RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.16.401.01_Radio_5.51.09.06a_22.30.50.09U
that can also be downloaded, in case you need it, from this link:

then you can upgrade the Radio and bootloader while you retain the firmware version 1.16.401.01
by flashing 4 times faster the Htc European ROM:
RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.16.401.01_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50.10U
that can be downloaded from this link:

You can go back to the initial Radio and bootloader
by flashing 4 times faster the Htc European ROM:

It remains only the imgfs, in order for a total flash without the WP7 signer.

This is a custom ROM not signed with the new and yet not completely hacked MS WP7 signer.
If this is true for all operators and spl's then the game just started.

I successfully created and flashed a WP7 ROM nbh image for the HD 7 device with the following features.
In the nbh image while spl, xip and imgfs.bin is retained from the original ROM version:
RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.16.401.01_Radio_5.51.09.06a_22.30.50.09
the radio is from another operator, the O2 DE, from ROM version:
RUU_Schubert_O2_DE_1.61.207.01_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50.10
Now there is a way to flash only the radio from other operators.
It will be uploaded next day.

Hi,
You need an unlocking code (8 digit decimal number) based on your device IMEI and your operator (T-Mobile).
Search for a reputable unlocking web service (you pay), or tell your operator to provide you with the unlocking code (usually free)
because you need to use a different sim when you travel at another country.

My phone is unlocked, but it´s T-mobile US branded... Could you please make a Standard HTC rom that could be installed on such a device?
I know many have bought these HD7s from the US and they lack lots of language support.

Hi,
For other operators is done.
Just trying to also include the imgfs in order for a total flash.
For your operator i will issue one at least with new bootloader and radio.

Hi,
The thread was updated with a link to the new upgraded rom for Htc operator.
There is no yet SPL version for O2 UK to handle the version of the Radio extracted of O2 DE.
I hope in a future development to be resolved.

Hi,
Can you post the about screen info of your device? , i.e.:
Firmware, Radio and Bootloader version (sw not hw) including the operator voda, htc, ...
In any case the windows phone 7 devices cannot be bricked by flashing.
I have made the hell out of mine and always is ok, thanks ms and htc about it!!
We can try any rom, official or custom, if did flash any, and then you know the operator.
Open with a hex editor the successfully flashed ruu_signed.nbh.
At 0x220 of ruu_signed.nbh we can see one or list of operators that have made the blockage.
In case of only HTC__001, ... , HTC_xxx the device is probably unbranded.
Otherwise you see VODAPxxx or other operator signature.

Since you post all the about info it is already inlcuded.
Your original (factory) rom is idendified as follows:
Form Firmware Revision Number 2250.09.12302.401
we change last two blocks from 12302.401 to 1.23.401.02
The Radio is always unchanged as: 5.51.09.06a_22.30.50.09U
and the Bootloader also unchanged as: 1.23.2250.0(112138
So the factory rom is this:
RUU_Schubert_Operator_1.23.401.02_WWE_Radio_5.51.09.06a_22.30.50.09U
For WWE it is sure only if you have multi language support.
If you only have Franche language then was FRE instead of WWE.
For Operator i am not sure about the XXX__YYY of French Bouygues Telecom, i guess FBT__102 or something.
In the future, when we will have regedit implemented, we will find it in a second.
So there is no yet issued an official ROM for your Operator.
As a matter of fact there is no yet none for any operator from France.

In order to identify your HD 7 phone ROM version see in your phone settings>about>more information:
Firmware revision number: 2250.09.15401.728
Your phone ROM version will be: 1.54.728.01
The characteristic value (CV) is: 728
Your Operator name and CIDs i.e.: hTC_Asia_SEA operator, with CIDs HTC__044, HTC_621, HTC__622, HTC__038 can be found with this CV from following classification:
1. 666: BellMobilty operator, with CID BM___001
2. 707: hTC_Asia operator, with CIDs HTC__044, HTC_621, HTC__622, HTC__038
3. 728: hTC_Asia_SEA operator, with CIDs HTC__044, HTC_621, HTC__622, HTC__038
4. 401: HTC_Europe operator, with CIDs HTC__001, HTC__203, HTC__102, HTC__032, HTC__405, HTC__304
5. 207: O2_DE, with CID O2___102
6. 206: O2_UK, with CID O2___001
7. 841: Telstra operator, with CID TELST001

Can you please explain the difference between the HTC_Europe and the HTC_Asia roms, I know that each of them can only be flashed into a specific device unless you use the goldcard method. Are there any other differences than that?

Hi,
The Europe is addressed to more countries and has more keyboard languages.
Higher firmware 1st two numbers i.e 1.20 ( 1.20.401.xx) means obviously improved ROM version.
Certain differences are with the Radio ROM too but as i flashed all Radio ROMs its ok for any operator.
Operators also included some of its own apps that you can rid off easily.
In WP7 if you delete an app it is deleted from ROM (RAM actually) also, so you increase your free RAM.

In the following A, B, C and D sections is described the flashing process
of the NoDo unbranded ROM: RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.70.901.02_Radio_5.64.09.27a_22.43.50.15U_NoDo
A. Pre-Requisites
If your HD 7 is flashed with a ROM of the following releases:
1. RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.16.401.01_Radio_5.51.09.06a_22.30.50.09U
2. RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.54.401.01_Radio_5.51.09.29_22.32.50.10U
3. RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.60.401.01_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50.10U
4. RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.69.401.01_Radio_5.54.09.21_22.33b.50.10U (Nodo)
then you can flash the following NoDo unbranded ROM and when you like you can comeback to your previous ROM
In case your HD 7 is flashed with a different of the above 1, 2, 3, 4 ROMs but your Firmware version at your phone settings>about>more information
is of the form xxxx.yy.zzzzz.401 i.e. with characteristic value 401
then you can also flash the following NoDo unbranded ROM, but you can comeback only to one of the above 1, 2, 3, 4 ROMs
B. Downloading
You must download the following 2 ROMs:
1. Download this zip ROM file: RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.70.901.02_Radio_5.64.09.27a_22.43.50.15_NoDo_by_ansar
2. Download this zip ROM file: RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.70.901.02_Radio_5.64.09.27a_22.43.50.15_NoDo_Signed_by_ansar
Extract the downloaded zip ROM files with an unzip / 7zip utility in separate folders of your choice
C. Flashing Process
In order to successfully flash the provided ROMs you must follow these steps:
1. Flash the ROM of the above (B.1.) extracted zip ROM file
2. After flashing HD 7 will automatically enter again in bootloader mode
3. In the screen of your computer the ROMUpdateUtility will report an ERROR[270]
4. Ignore it and exit from ROMUpdateUtility
5. Now flash the ROM of the above (B.2.) extracted zip ROM file
6. After flashing your HD 7 will boot normally
7. Exit from ROMUpdateUtility and proceed with your brand new ROM
If you do not want them you can delete all operator apps, in order to have more free RAM
Beware, in WP7 deleting an application means it is deleted from ROM
D. ROM Flashing Instructions
In order to flash a ROM follow these steps:
1. Press and hold power-on/off button to power-off the phone
2. Press and hold volume-down button and then press power-on/off button to enter bootloader mode
3. When your phone enters the tricolor screen bootloader mode, release volume-down button
4. Connect your phone to your windows 7/vista/xp pc/laptop with a usb cable
5. Verify that your phone will be identified and relevant drivers will be installed by windows os of your pc/laptop
6. After completion of (D.5.) above, check the usb message connection on your phone screen
7. To flash the ROM go to your pc/laptop folder where the downloaded zip ROM file is extracted
8. Double click on the ROMUpdateUtility.exe file and strictly follow the instructions on your pc/laptop screen

Just downloaded the 2 files and when I run B1 rom it gives me Error ID Vendor
My original rom in HD7 was O2 UK and thanks to petbede work I sucessfully changed to HTC Europe...how can I instal this new version?

So, yesterday I was able to update to the Europe NoDo ROM but it has the Radio Software Version: 5.54.09.21_22.33b.50.10U.
I had to use the GoldCard method however. Can I update to this newer ROM using GoldCard?

It is addressed to Europe operator not O2_UK.
I am working for 3 devices HD7/Mozart/Spark with plenty of operators.

and should wait for a ROM addressed to TMOUS operator.

B. Downloading
You must download the following 2 ROMs:
1. Download this zip ROM file: RUU_Schubert_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.69.401.01_Radio_5.54.09.21_22.33b.50.10U_NoDo_by_ansar
2. Download this zip ROM file: RUU_Schubert_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.69.401.01_Radio_5.54.09.21_22.33b.50.10U_NoDo_Signed_by_ansar
Extract the downloaded zip ROM files with an unzip / 7zip utility in separate folders of your choice
C. Flashing Process
In order to successfully flash the provided ROMs you must follow these steps:
1. Flash the ROM of the above (B.1.) extracted zip ROM file
2. After flashing HD 7 will remain at about 90% - 98%, ignore it
3. Hold the Power Button untill HD 7 will power off and enter to the bootloader mode
4. In the screen of your computer the ROMUpdateUtility will report a flashing ERROR
5. Ignore it and exit from ROMUpdateUtility
6. Now flash the ROM of the above (B.2.) extracted zip ROM file
7. After flashing your HD 7 will boot normally
8. Exit from ROMUpdateUtility and proceed with your brand new ROM
If you do not want them you can delete all operator apps, in order to have more free RAM
Beware, in WP7 deleting an application means it is deleted from ROM
D. ROM Flashing Instructions
In order to flash a ROM follow these steps:
1. Press and hold power-on/off button to power-off the phone
2. Press and hold volume-down button and then press power-on/off button to enter bootloader mode
3. When your phone enters the tricolor screen bootloader mode, release volume-down button
4. Connect your phone to your windows 7/vista/xp pc/laptop with a usb cable
5. Verify that your phone will be identified and relevant drivers will be installed by windows os of your pc/laptop
6. After completion of (D.5.) above, check the usb message connection on your phone screen
7. To flash the ROM go to your pc/laptop folder where the downloaded zip ROM file is extracted
8. Double click on the ROMUpdateUtility.exe file and strictly follow the instructions on your pc/laptop screen

Your operator is Asia_SEA with CV 728, except if it was another and you flashed 728 with y cable
This ROM is for Asia operator i.e. CV 707

I haven't flashed my phone yet. Everything is as is. just updated it to NoDo. Thing is, my zune Restore only restore it at earlier time with 7392 so I can't unlock my phone.
And since there is no chance of zune marketplace being available here in the Philippines I won't be able to buy apps, I'm thinking of unlocking my phone to sideload everything.

In the following A, B, C and D sections is described the flashing process
of the NoDo unbranded ROM: RUU_Schubert_Telstra_WWE_3.04.206.01_Radio_5.66.09.21a_22.48.50.21U_NoDo
A. Pre-Requisites
If your HD 7 is flashed with a ROM of the following release:
1. RUU_Schubert_Telstra_WWE_1.50.841.02_Radio_5.61.09.15a_22.31.50.09U
then you can flash the following NoDo unbranded ROM and when you like you can comeback to your previous ROM

I've tested calls and am now in the process of updating from this ROM to the mango beta, but must admit I was a little concerned that I saw an O2 operator logo and it's default region is the UK??
Update:
After running this ROM for 24 hours it appears to work fine on Telstra's network, but I really think this was ment for O2 in the UK. It has O2 branding throughout the phone, including theme colours and splash operator logo.

Hi,
It looks like we have the same problem. Probably your HD7 is from EU and works only 1900/2100 mhz (3G). My I took from Ireland and Telstra SIM card works only with 2G. You do nothing because it is hardware problem (radio). Just buy YES OPTUS SIM card, 3G works fine on EU mobile phones.
