WM 6.1 ROM

Exist any WM6.1 ROM for HTC Dream ? Please dont ask me why I need this.
Thanks.
No, not going to happen, been asked many, many, many times already.
why not ? where is the problem to cook non official ROM ?
For one, its a waste of a perfectly good phone to put that CRAP on it. If you want a piece of crap, buy a piece of crap.
Second, the required drivers simply don't exist.
What do you men crap ? OK, the second explanation is better.
I think lbcoder got it right. windows mobile IS Junk. I have a Kaiser in addition to the G1. The Kaiser has great hardware minus the KB, small screen, and quiet speaker, but it has a horrific OS e.g. It's slow, locks up, restarts itself for no reason.
The G1 however has a great OS that needs little or no changing at all, but dumbed down hardware.

Since your question is completely asinine I'm going to ask you why you need this: Why do you need this?
Edit: Oh and You're Welcome.

Bottom line is if you want WinMo, buy a WinMo phone. Most of the hackers working on HTC Dream are working on Android.
Oh yeah and use the search.

I concur. I couldn't imagine going to winmo after being blessed with android.
he he he he....
I guess we want what we don't have? Many folk are working on porting Android to our WM devices.... Maybe it's just the challenge of it all?

Now that I think about it; I sure wouldn't mind the ability to dual boot. Not even sure why but maybe just for that hell of it.
Makes no sense
I had the T-mobile Dash before the G1 and wound up giving the dash to my wife. I was helping her learn to use it and only then did I realise how goofy the setup of it all is. They say the beauty of it is that it tries to emulate the Windows experience, but if my desktop worked like that...I'ld have a mac.

Best post in this thread. Completely true and funny as hell.
That being said I'm STILL excited to see what WinMo 7 brings to the table.

Dual-Boot HTC HD2 Windows Mobile/Android

Hey I am new to flashing. I have changed the roms on g1's, and on the nexus one per different youtube vidoes and stuff i have read in this forum.
Yesterday i purchased the HD2 and to my horror found out that it was running on Windows Mobile (WTF). So i have been loking around and I saw that in the past the forum has been able to get Touch Pro 2 that run on WM6.5 to dual boot into android.
So I am hoping that the same can be done with the HD2. So is the HSPL2 listed in this forum the beginning steps to this process or what? Has anyone yet setup the HD2 to run on android?
I know this is wordy but I just want to make it understood that I am new and I want to learn and that I have the desire to get android on my HD2.
thanks any suggested reading is welcome as the steps to get android on this awesome phone that HTC FUBAR'd with WM6.5
The HD2 cannot run android at this time.

No, it's not quite there at this time. However, while I understand your opinion, I don't think HTC "FUBAR'd" at all. I've had a few Android devices and this phone is AMAZING, even with WM.
this has been discussed already at length.. if you look in the ROMS section of the forum you'll find it ..
And it is NOT going to happen soon..
Android on the HD2 will be amazing! Hopefully they can get it ported by summer to compete with the HTC EVO.

...this is not true,
There is an engineer at the local Tmobile call center dual booting Android and winmo. He runs Android off of the card itself. The phone that is dual booting is at the kiosk at the LaPlaza mall in Mcallen TX and has been used as their demo phone.
How is he doing it? I have no idea, but hes told myself and a Tmobile sales buddy that he'll help us out with it.
So, you purchased the phone without realizing its a WM phone, and have the balls to complain, all because you didnt read, and now are asking if you can put android on it...lazy much?
I suppose you want someone to flash it for you too, or better yet start another thread asking how to do that...
Didn't you see the windows mobile on the box...

You're saying he's booting android on a hd2? I doubt it. Are you sure its not a TP2? There is an andriod port for the TP2.
I'm not sure how you purchased the phone without knowing the underlying OS, but I'm guessing you bought it in the US for Tmobile. If that is the case, and I'm guessing it is, then you can't flash any ROMs for it yet because of the different SPL.

I seriously doubt this. Maybe you had it confused with an HD or a TP2, but I doubt xda wouldn't know about this...especially since it's most likely to originate here. A picture to prove this would be great, but I don't expect it.

I would just like to thank everyone that replied. I guess i just need to wait a bit longer for the xda big brains to resolve this issue. I just thought that it would have been a simpler thing to do since the HD2 in UK had been flashed to run android. I have plenty on time and money so I can buy another device and wait.
Thanks again all.

News to me! I've seen it running on other devices, but even then it's beta, with various functionality still unavailable, WIFI etc.
If you wanted Android, a little research before hand should and would have been wise, i.e. waiting for the EVO to be released.
I like WinMo 6.5. It may not be as pretty as Android or iPhone OS (without the Sense gui which is quite lovely imho) but it's a very versatile and an incredibly powerful tool in the hands of the right user. If you're in a business environment, using Microsoft equipment, exchange servers etc, there is not an more efficient handheld device to carry in you pocket (again, imho).

Something Pretty Cool....Cmon Android/HD2

Android Running On The iPhone
Yea yea yea I know its a iPhone, different OS, blah blah blah...But I figured that was pretty cool.
yeah if they put android on iphone they definetly should put this in HD 2 ohh...i don't know why HTC choose that HD 2 to have WinMo......

because there is nothing majorly wrong with wm6.5 and senseUI on the HD2. WinMo6.5 is a lot more flexible in terms of functionality, connectability, and programmable comparing to android and iphoneOS. People just love to ***** whenever they can...

Yes, that makes no sense whatsoever... Especially since there are Android phones out there with very similar specs to the HD2!
If HD2 had android people would be complaining about lots of other things. just ignore those people >.<
well, but dual booting winmo and android would be cool not?^^

Of course it would be cool... and it will happen eventually. But nobody should get this phone for that reason or be expecting android anytime soon. If you hate WinMo, you shouldn't buy a WinMo phone.
Also, there's no reason for people to make threads asking when it's gonna happen or trying to rush the developers. They're doing there best and doing a great job... but they have their own lives and it's a very complicated process porting linux. It'll happen when it happens. Don't get an HD2 expecting it.
has this not already been done?? im sure there is an android rom that lets you choose at startup whether you want to run WinMo6.5 or Android from the SD card, dont hold me to this but im sure i read it somewhere a few weeks back and they were just ironing out the final creases then!

Not for the HD2. They are still working on the linux kernel. They have working ports for the first HD, the TP2 and a lot of other msm72xx WinMo phones.

Running Windows 3.1 on G1 (5/16/10)

I found this site while browsing around and it looked fun, just to try. Heres the link should anyone else care to be the envy of all of your friends when you can say "I can run windows on my phone" (Not that you would really want to...)
http://androidblog.therevolve.com/?p=12
Why would someone want to do that?
Tell me when it runs Microsoft Office v7 and Windows 95.
great
i love this sort of stuff,
its not about how well it will run or whatever - its just the fact you CAN do it !!
ill find some time to try this next week
on photo at blog is a milestone, not G1 ..
For the OP that didnt read....:
"I installed it on my Droid today and experimented with simple stuff such as running Doom, Heretic and such."
False information in the title here, I tagged it for close just imo.
And explain how the title is false?

Windows 95 is running on my phone using adosbox :

The adosbox port is used to run it was found on the adosbox message board and includes a virtual keyboard (which is very useful as I don't have a physical one on my Xperia X10).

windows phone 7 on hd2 for real

hey everyone
This has been a long time coming. Thanks to the unshakable versatility of the HTC HD2 (what other phone runs Windows Mobile, Android, MeeGo, Windows 95, and Ubuntu?) we finally have a working port of Windows Phone 7. As you will see, the port works quite well: everything works
hd2 is the coolest phone on earth

Sorry to rain on your parade, but this news has been all over this forum (and others) all day!
It was about 12 hours ago I flashed WP7 to my phone! (Back to Android now though )
Seriously, the forums are plastered with it! I really don't know how you missed it (unless you didn't look first).
