I am using a KINm Two and am having issues with this crap software.

wifi problem:
-at school there is a secure wifi that all itouches can connect to. however when i try to connect i get a "try again later" error. i need a username and password to sign in to use it, but there are no input fields for those on the settings menu.

I have also experienced the problem with youtube. It usually goes away after restarting the phone. Also for the secured wireless network at school try to manually add it by pressing other in the WI-FI settings on your kin.

I have tried that. I have also tried messing around with the types of networks (wpeg and wpeg2 or somthing) but none of them give me a username and password box. Ive also found out that itouch users gotta plug in a port number too, is it possible to use the hidden menu to connect to this network?
Also, restarting my phone didnt solve the problem of no youtube on home wifi. It doesnt even buffer...

Vodafone GPRS Settings?????

Assistants required!!
I have attempted to set up GPRS on my M600 (Unlocked for Vodafone sim)
GPRS has been enabled as I have the G icon up!
I have been on the vodafone website and tried there settings with no luck!
I have been on the Filesaveas website and plugged in all of those settings with NO luck, Have also installed the I-mate .cab again with no luck!!!
I am starting to go insane spent three days trying all different settings and No luck at all!!!!
You name the website and I think Ihave probably tried it.
Does anyone have any useful advise for me, provide me with some form of sanity check!!!!
Ideally I wold love a .cab file to install!
But would like feedback from anyone else in a similar position, on how they resolved this some what annoying issue!!!!
regards
Wilko_007
I set up my Vario II for Vodafone with no problem. These settings (*.pdf file) seem to be the same as the ones I used, see how they compare with the settings you are using.
Many thanks I will give it a go!
Ok have now got connection but I can't surf?
I have seen comments about GPRS beening fully enabled?
Are there 2 forms of GPRS that can be enabled? WAP & WEB???
Do I need to worry about the Dialing Rules???
Thanks in advance for your assistance!!

Could you be a little more specific i.e. does it come up with a pop-up box stating that it is connecting to GPRS? If yes, which connection does it say it is connecting to, is it the correct one (i.e. the new GPRS settings that you have just keyed in)? When you say it won't surf, what do you mean exactly ... are you using Pocket IE and does it come up with any error messages etc...
Connection via GPRS No probs I then get the Small G and the two arrows fixed on the bar.
Enter IE and type google for example.
get the status bar flash up breifly and then disapear, with no change to the original Orange World Home page!!!
No errors what so ever????
okay ... the next thing I would probably do then is download an alternative browser to see if it still happens in a different browser. Netfront is pretty good. At least that way you should be able to establish if it is a GPRS problem or a browser problem.
Ok I now have installed Netfront and connected to the GPRS!
typed in www.google.com
I have a warning screen:
Browser Warning
Cannot load Page
Type: DNS no server is specified
?????
Okay .. I am running out of ideas now, it does sound like your GPRS Settings are still wrong.
Click 'start menu', 'settings' and go to the 'Connections' tab. Now click 'Connections', then the 'Advanced' tab then 'Select Networks'. The first box (ie. Programs that connect to the Internet automatically) should say 'My Isp' and if you click 'Edit', it should show you 'Vodafone Internet' is selected.
If you then select to edit that, you should see in this order 'Vodafone Internet' and then it should show modem type as GPRS, next page should show Access Point Name of 'Internet', next page should show User name 'Web' ... password is the same, domain field should be blank ... nothing needs to be done in the advanced tab because the default of 'Use-server-assigned IP address' should automatically be selected, same for the server tab too, default should be server-assigned.
These are the settings that work fine on both my XDA Mini S and my MDA Vario II.
Right I have checked both ISP and MyWork Network, all correct!
The only thing I can see is that the password box has loads of characters (*'s) instead of just 3 *'s for WEB (***)
But every thing else is as the PDF??
Stumped!!!!
you can try messing with the newly released ms network tools there is a link in development forum
or you can try manualy typing in a know dns server in the settings
unless the gprs dont route the request
any dsn server ip will do
same as pc's really
I am afraid I don't know then ... we have reached the level of my knowledge (which isn't high )
Perhaps somebody with a little more technical knowhow on GPRS issues may be able to help you.
Sorry I couldn't get it sorted for you.
Thanks for your help a least I can connect now!!
Thank you again!!
anyone heard of the connection No. being *99#?
Vodafone instructed me to put that in the setup?
I guess that goes in under the " My Work Network" Vodafone Wap - Number?
This is now becoming a huge headache anyone got any ideas?
not sure how vodaphone handle it but i never heard about
ppl having to add numbers when they picked gprs as connection
belived that was only if you connected around grps

I'm expericening a similar problem.
My phone was sold as an O2 XDA Mini S. My O2 contract/account doesn't allow GPRS (they want me to upgrade) so I tried my Vodafone PAYG SIM and it works without having to have the phone unlocked in any way. By that I mean I can use voice calls and using the settings I've found through this site I can send MMS messages via GPRS but I cannot connect to the internet. I've checked with Vodafone and the account will allow internet and GPRS etc.
The only thing that I can see that is wrong is the password. Whenever I type "web" then finish, it always defaults back to a string of 16 ***'s when I re-check the settings.
I've even done a hard reset and used the corporate install to no avail. I don't want to run any sort of unlocking software if I don't need to as I don't want to create a very expensive door stop.
Any ideas?
The string of asterisks is normal, I think it is just a method used by Windows to make the password more difficult for someone to guess i.e. by disguising not only the characters but also the number of characters.
I just double checked and my fully working settings also show a row of asterisks despite it being a 3 character password.
Thanks Nicky
I'll keep plodding away with this but hopefully someone might steer me in the right direction soon.

Live Messenger DOESN'T Connect thru GPRS

Hey,
I can't seem to get WLM for Windows Mobile to work. I have searched XDA as well as HoFo, I have tried various roms (Xplore 1.1, Xplore 2.0 Beta, Faria's 'The Real Thing,' Faria's AKU3.3 WM5, and even T-Mobile's 2.26), and I have tried multiple connection changes.
I have also tried various Radio ROM's including 2.19.11, 2.25, 2.61, and 2.69.
The way I have my settings in "Settings>Connections>Advanced>Select Networks" is as follows:
1.)For the top option, I created a new network titled "WiFi." The only additional change I made to this one was to tick the box "this connection connects to the Internet," I did not tick the box for "Use Proxy."
2.)For the bottom, I also created a new network called "T-Mobile Web." For this, I added a modem (Cellular GPRS), entered an APN of wap.voicestream.com, did not add a VPN, turned Proxy on with a valid entry, and made sure the WAP and Secure WAP had valid entries.
With this setup I CAN access any website with Pocket IE and Opera 8.6x. Unfortunately, I cannot access Windows Live Messenger:
1.) Open WLM through the Program window
2.) I can either say "Sign In" on the homescreen, or go to "Cancel" and enter in my display name, but either way when I click sign in I get...
"Signing in to Messenger will add your Messenger contacts to your phone's address book. Do you wish to continue?"
3.) I say "Ok" to this, my phone notifies me that it is "Connecting to GPRS," then Windows Live states, "There's a connectivity problem. Make sure you're in an area with good phone reception and try again."
4.) I can press "Retry" as many times as I want, nothing changes.
I can also get a different error message if I click on the "Sign-in to Windows Live" from the Today screen. My phone then connects to the Internet again, then, after it successfully connects, I get, "Windows Live was unable to establish an Internet connection. Please check your Internet settings and make sure that you have access to data services under your billing plan. If you need help, please contact your mobile service provider."
I have tried removing the Live Messenger Today screen item to resolve it ( not that I thought it would work ). I have tried enabling the WiFi and that did not work. I have tried setting both Options in Settings>Connections>Advanced>Select Networks to my connection "Web," but that did not work.
I have tried in areas where I get full reception + GPRS/EDGE and I have tried in other areas, nearly one hundred miles away, where I had varying reception + GPRS/EDGE.
Any ideas?
im a beta tester for windows live mobile and can probably say without doubt its expired. mine wont connect when i new version comes out. they disable the older versions when a new build comes out. the latest build was realeased something like 2/4/07. thats how i can usually tell there is a new build available without going to the microsoft connect site, it just stops working.
try finding the latest build and you shouldnt have a problem
dolbe,
I would agree with you, but other people are using the exact same one that I have...only they are successful in connecting. Thank you for your insight, though.
I think you should change the thread name into something like "Windows Live Messenger DOESN'T Connect thru GPRS "
Good luck

Windows live/ email synchronisation connection solutions
Hey All,
Web browser working fine but you can't synch your e-mail account or windows live account? ... I was puzzled by this for quite a while myself before it finally clicked (I even got to a stage where I could sync my email and live account through my wireless internet but not through the mobiles own GPRS/3G)
The problem lies in the data connection that windows live account/ your email account attempts to use. The good news is that, it is usually very easy to select the right data connection for your email account to use:
1. Go through the E-mail account setup, where you enter your mail server settings. Continue to enter these as normal.
2. When you get to the "Outgoing (SMTP) mail server" page, tap "Advanced Server Settings". Under "Network Connection" you have the option to choose the data connection. This is usually set to "The Internet" as standard, but usually needs to be changed to "t-mobile internet", "vodafone internet" or whatever network connection has been setup to get your mobile connected to your providers own GPRS/3G. BINGO, your done... well most of the time.
The bad news for Windows live/ hotmail users is that they do not get the chance to select the network connection a windows live/hotmail account uses. On the very first part of the e-mail setup, as soon as you type in "[email protected], or [email protected]" , the account wizard completely takes over declaring that "settings found for hotmail.com". And even after you type in all your details you do not get to option to select the network connection to be used. (This is consequence of the fact that Microsoft Windows Mobile thinks it knows best how to configure microsoft based e-mail accounts for windows mobile.) The network connection that is automatically selected is called "The Internet". As you cannot select another network connection, you must edit "The Internet" connection so that it has the right settings for your particular mobile service provider. To do this:
1. Go to Start --> Settings --> Connections tab --> connections --> manage existing connections --> select "The Internet", and then tap "Edit".
2. Leave the name as "The Internet", but fill the rest of the boxes with the GPRS/3G settings of your individual mobile service provider.
Note: Getting these settings is relatively easy: 1.You can ask your mobile service provider. 2. You can search the web for the GPRS settings of your network. 3. If your web browser is working fine, you probably have the settings. Check under manage existing connections, and check the values used for "t-mobile internet", "vodafone internet", "orange internet", etc... and just copy them.
Enjoy,
AK
Hi AK,
could "The Internet" settings be hidden? I can't find the settings under Manage Existing Connections
This is truly a b*tch! I recently upgraded my Samsung i780 to Windows Mobile 6.1 via the free upgrade offered by Samsung (http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/i780/nr/subXb_xp.jsp) - and after that I lost my settings to make MSN work..
I remember that I spend lots of time to make it work last time aswell.. and at that time it always created two connections when I started to use MSN and check email at the same time.
After that, I used my phone on a flatrate 3G connection for almost 3 months in Asia without any trouble - it worked just great, I was emailing, using Skype, MSN, Google Map and everything flawlessly... Buut ofcourse I had to upgrade to 6.1 which I am happy about, since my phone is faster now.
Anyway.. tonight I finally got it working again; I wish I could make some kind of walkthrough.. but I can't..
What I did was to have two online configurations from my Danish telecom provider "Telenor" send to my phone by SMS (I could type in my phoneno. on their website, selecting which config I wanted); I got one for WAP called "E-GO" and I got one for Internet, called "Internet". For a while, I was using "Internet" as my default profile for everything, and it worked fine with everything except for MSN which refused to even attempt to logon.
Now I went to to Start --> Settings --> Connections tab --> connections --> manage existing connections --> and selected the "WAP" connection as my default connection instead.
Now everything suddenly works - I selected this connection also to be used now for my GMAIL account (under server priveligies while setting up your email), Skype works, MSN works, Google Map works, Explorer works, Opera Works..... all running full 3G HDSPA mode!
My guess is, that the problem rely on the fact that you cannot select any default connection for MSN. So the connection you select as your generic connection must be capable of running MSN and all the rest - so if it doesn't work with your "Internet", "My Internet" or "The Internet" connection, try changing to another one. If you don't have it, try to setup from your telecom provider - maybe another setting will work.
Last thing to do for me now.. a full system backup with "SPB Backup" to make sure nothing goes wrong ever again

Error connecting to WiFi, Need help

Sup,
I'm having trouble connecting to my wireless router with my Qtek 9000 Windows Mobile 5.
Technically it is connected, but no webpage loads. It's a netgear wireless G router with the settings set to b/g.
I tried in both, PIE and Opera.
I tried with "Phone" on and off to see if that makes a difference.
I get an error message in PIE:
"The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was
lost. Check the connection and try again later."
Google is the only page that loads, but I think because its cached?
I get this message when I try a search:
"The page cannot be displayed because the server could not be found or a DNS error occurred."
The error I get in Opera is:
"Could not connect to proxy server
http://mail.google.com/mail/"
when connecting to gmail.com.
Please, any help?
Edit:
I have another problem too. Youtube worked in Opera with Flash Player 7 PPC except the video loaded like the first 29seconds and then stopped. When I would play what was loaded, it would lag play and then go to the replay/share screen.
I also tried the FlashVideoBundle + TCPMP combo. With the combo, I tried with and without Flash7 installed and it doesn't work at all on PIE. I would get a "Video not available" error when clicking on a search result on Youtube.
So if anyone has a solution for this problem too, please advise.
Reply:
Go to the Connections Tab in settings,
Then click the Connections icon
Click the advanced Tab
Click Select Networks
Change both Drop Down Menus to "My ISP"
Click OK till you get to the Home Screen and try accessing a webpage...
I hope This Works
But wouldn't that mess up my GPRS settings?
BTW, thanks for the reply.
Dude, it worked! Awesome!
So if I have to use T-MobileWeb (tzones) GPRS, I just switch both back to work?
BTW Thanks.
Can not connect to Wifi after WM 6 upgrade
I just changed all my settings to MY ISP and I'm still getting connection errors
A Delayed Response
Sorry about failing to respond for a while...but, anywho... in the screen with the drop down menus...you're gonna want to set the first drop down menu to "My ISP" and the second drop down menu to whatever GPRS connection you use...respond with details if this fails to be of help
And...a response to Ol' Blake
The ISP setting that your attempting to change won't affect the failure to connect to certain wifi...some problems with the WM6 for the Jasjar prevent the device to connect to wifis with WPA security...I believe...I'm writing this through personal experience and what I have read in other posts...btw...is the wifi that you are attempting to connect to password protected?

Proxy Settings MIA

Help...
I have a HTC 3600 (handy as I'm posting in this forum ) and I have been trying to connect it to my work wireless setup. This is fairly locked down and has a hidden SSID and requires me to enter credentials (user name, password) to access the web. I can successfully connect to the Wi-Fi, I am issued with IP address etc but can't then take the next step to connect it to the web.
I have found an area to add a proxy with username and password - I do this but still nothing. One odd thing is that when I then go back to try editing the proxy settings 9 times out of 10 it has vanished and I have to create it again!!
This is causing much hair pulling!
Any direction/help in this would be great as I am now a little stuck.
I am on AX3L v3.0.9 build.
Cheers
Update
I have found out that if there are two settings in the connections summary - such as 'My Work Network' and in my case 'etisalat UAE' the proxy setting never gets lost. Is this a quirk, is there something that I am not understanding (I know the obv. answer to the last question is yes!)
This now brings me to my nest challenge which is how do you arrange these connections? What I mean is that if I am at work/home and have a wi-fi link active how do I get the device to pick this in preference to a GPRS connection which it should use at all other times? I have tried looking for some kind of guide so I can work through this my self but no luck so far..... if anyone knows of such a thing or can point me in the right direction then please reply to this.
Cheers

Is it possible to enter saved passwords automatically in Opera Browser / PIE?

I can't afford 3G yet, I go to a school in which we all get free wi-fi access. The problem is that logging on the network is so tedious. Every time I access the network I have to input the password within the web browser, and my browser for some reason sometimes doesn't remember the password or sometimes does not display the password page correctly, and therefore it is troublesome to enter my school's wi-fi network.
Is there a program that will do the work for me?

OperaMobile supports password managament on websites exactly this way.
Should be enabled in settings.
No it doesn't. I need it to press enter for me automatically because the page does not view correctly sometimes and it prevents me from pressing OK/ENTER.
