[Q] Anyone else suffering Wifi and Bluetooth Issues - Optimus 7 General

I've had the Optimus 7 since friday from vodafone UK but noticed some issues and trying to establish if they are common or perhaps a faulty handset before my 7 day trial period runs out.
I have had issues connecting to secure networks and after some testing with various routers it would appear I can't connect to WPA2 secured networks at all. WPA seems to work but occasionaly after screen lock or power on/off it fails and after manually forcing the connection I keep getting prompted for the password again and again.
Bluetooth was buggy at the beginning but has completely stopped working now and I am unable to detect any devices. Previously I could detect devices but not connect and pair.
I've tried a hard reset twice but to no avail.
Firmware 1.0.7.10
ROM Version LG-E900_V10g_Final-SEP-29-2010-2250-7004
Factory Version LG-E900AT-01-V10g-234-15-SEP-29-2010
I got the last 2 versions from the MFG app which I tried as a last resort to see if there are any diagnostics that would help me but without guidance I'm loathed to touch anything.
Apart from the 2 issues I'm loving the phone and impressed by WP7

I have the 900h (north america) and dont have any issues with connecting to wpa2

Interesting problem. I had heard there were problems connecting to hidden wifi networks, but nothing like this. I too have the North American (TELUS) 900h and do not have this problem.
Our phones here are running OS version 7.0.7004.0. Firmware version 1.0.2.14. This could be a Euro only thing, but we would need some more people to corroborate this.

Thanks Guys, I've logged this with LG Support and Vodafone, and I am waiting for their response. Given the bluetooth has packed up completely I get the feeling this is an issue with my device, what I didnt realise was the US devices were a different model (900h) so there still may be an issue with the european handsets.

In the same boat
I haven't tried WPA2 yet however I'm also suffering Bluetooth issues. I have an LG Optimus 7 bought from Optus (Australia) and cannot get it to pair with any of my A2DP devices.
A quick email I sent to LG Aus & NZ garnered a "this query is too complicated to resolve via email" reply; I'll have to call them up when I can set aside enough time to deal with being put on hold.
Let me know how you go - my biggest concern is that this bug only exists in a particular batch, meaning that I'll have to get a replacement before it turns into a drawn out "Warranty issue" procedure.

Replacement Device on the way
I'm getting a replacement handset tomorrow, so I'll see if its fixed. Vodafone aren't aware of any issues (or they are not telling me anyway) but as I am in my 7 day cooling off period they will swap out the handset and extend me another 7 days to evaluate the device. I'm not sure how keen they would be to replace the handset if I was out of the 7 day period.
LG Helpdesk sent me an email saying the issue has been esculated to the relevant representatives but I havent heard anything since.

also in Italy there are a smartphones with the same issue!!!

Bluetooth fixed WPA2 still a bug
Just got my replacement handset, bluetooth is currently working. Its paired first time with my laptop and my car (Audi A3 car prep) which I was worried wasn't compatible but it seems to be working great so far.
However WPA2 encrypted WIFI is definitely not working, tried it on my home router and another WPA2 router at a neighbours. WPA does seem to work at the moment.
Firmware is still the same 1.0.7.10 so it looks like the bluetooth was a faulty device.

wpa2 on some older routers tends to suck, Ive had issues connecting to older dlinks and linksys routers (with numerous devices) .. switching to wpa or wpa2-auto on them allows a connection ... id try a more recent wpa2 enabled wireless router/access point if possible

I can't seem to connect to my wpa2 encrypted wifi network any more, worked fine before. I'll be going to exchange it tonight, and I'll let you guys know if that fixes the problem.

Got my exchange unit last night, and everything is working fine now

Is there an actual difference between the north american version (e900h) and the one they sell in europe? They both work on the same frequencies right?

I got my LG Optimus 7 when it was initially launched in Singapore. By the next day i was returning it back from the roadshow that i got it from as the Wifi and Bluetooth was not working. They gave me a replacement set.
When i checked it was working. As i hardly used the Bluetooth, 3 days later, i tried and found it was not working. I went back to the Telco i bought it from and they were not willing to replace the phone as i had it replaced once.
I called up the customer service and they were of no help. I was finally told to go to an LG Service Center. Trust me, i was super pissed with the Telco after my multiple calls and the service support i got from the Telco shop i went to, to get it replaced. The phone was only 4 days old. And they were more concern about the number of sets they had with them.
Finally i went to LG. They were very supportive. They looked at the phone and tested it and say true enough the Bluetooth had a problem. Asked me to wait for 30 mins. It was a hardware problem. They changed the entire board supporting the bluetooth. After that it was working fine. Till now. Also i released the wifi was on the same board, as the Mac address was different.
Till today i have no idea what cause the problem.
First phone : Wifi and Bluetooth not working
Second phone; Bluetooth was not working after 3 days.
So i hope this experience would be useful to some who have similar problems.
Update: Thanks to one of the forumers who did a tear down of his phone. I believe this was the circuity that was changed on my mobile.

Bluetooth Degrades Over Time
I too received a replacement handset from my telco (Optus Australia), who have been, and still are entirely supportive.
I bought my first Optimus 7 fourteen days ago, and noticed that Bluetooth was sketchy a day after purchase. Of the half-dozen attempts I made at pairing with my Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) car headset I managed to get it paired once; however I could never get it to connect.
6 days later I handed it back to the store who sent it off for testing (technically considered a DOA unit) and sure enough the found that Bluetooth didn't work. They gave me a new (sealed) unit 4 days afterwards - I immediately checked that it paired with my car - which it did without any hiccups.
After putting some music on it later that day I tested Bluetooth again. It worked; kind of - there were distinct pauses and clicking sounds whilst streaming music. I Tested it with my laptop (A2DP again) and it made the same noises during playback. The phone's built-in speaker/headphone output played the songs flawlessly.
Tested it again the next day with the car - that time it didn't connect. I did a hard-reset and tried to pair it again; it recognised the car stereo but couldn't connect. The day after that it stopped recognising any Bluetooth devices during Bluetooth searches.
Today I handed the replacement handset back to the store to repeat the DOA procedure (3-4 days) and should be getting a second replacement then.
It seems to me that the chipset they use degrades over time (or usage), within the space of a day or so; so whilst they may be replacing the chipset and it appears to work, they actually break down fairly quickly - a very tedious fault indeed.
I wonder if LG are aware of the issue.
P.S: Never had issues with WiFi (WPA).

Yes i suspect the chipset degraded. Question is how or why?
I am wondering if it had anything to do with heat. I did notice the previous 2 phones i had heated up quite easily especially during charging.
And also when i use the 3G network alot, the back of the phone is very warm. I have never experience this in all my other phones.
So was just wondering whether heat could have been a contributing factor.
I recieved my first phone on the 23 of Oct 10. Replaced it on the 24 Oct 10. 3 days later bluetooth failed to function and after all my negative encounter with the telco i finally got my phone serviced at the LG center on the 13 of Nov. So far it is working well and enjoying the experience. Of cos cant wait for any WP7 OS updates to plug in the deficencies that are present today

Suprisingly enough, I can connect to WPA2 networks, if I set it to AES, but I really have not had much of an issue with secured networks. However, some citywide UNSECURED networks in Vancouver are impossible to connect to, while even an iPod Touch can connect to it.
The bluetooth issues are horrific. Most devices are recognized, but not "compatible". I tried to move my contacts from my feature phone, and no such luck. No file transfers obviously, and headsets have a tough time connecting or KEEPING the connection. A problem here in Vancouver, where talking on your cellphone while driving is illegal, and your bluetooth headset looses connection every once in a while.

Yup i agree. Only when i had to go to LG Service center to fix the bluetooth problem, was i then told that the bluetooth could only be used for audio purposes only. You cant transfer files etc with it.
This is ridiculous. But wouldnt this be an OS limitation rather then a hardware issues. As such, we could possibly see an upgrade allowing us to transfer files etc.
Also you cant event hide your ID or change your bluetooth ID. Or am i mistaken?

I can pair my phone to my pc (havent tried doing anything just checking if it worked) but cannot pair it with my functioning bluetooth headset (which work great on my HTC Desire). The headset isnt showing up at all when scanning for devices for some reason.

I can pair it with my stereo BT-headset but not with my pc. When listening to music thru the BT-headset i hear noise of some sort. Sounds like interference noise. And the sound disappears for a second every now and then. I have used the headset with two other phones and it sounds really good with them. I'm starting to think there's something wrong with this phone.
Connecting to wpa2 network works fine for me.

Connecting to wpa2 works fine for me too. The headset Im using is Plantronics Voyager 520 (can't even find while scanning). Gonna check a SE headset when it's charged in an hour or so.

After softreset, first couple of phone calls are unstable

Hi,
im not sure if this happens to every unit or even every network operators; I have used two units in the past 5 months and have noticed on both units that after I soft reset and the unit is booted up, the first couple of calls that i either make or receive when im travelling either by bus train or car, the calls become robotic, and similar to loss of signal (even though the phone tells me it has full signal) eventually the call is disconnected automatically. This also happens on the next call; however on the third or more call (or until the unit is softresetted again) the calls on the phone become stable and perfect...
im running on DTAC network in Thailand
This is really getting to me and Im thinking the O2 is having trouble solving this problem as I have noticed this flaw since the 200511xxROM-Radio041 (i think) all upto this current 200604xxROM-Radio049. i am going to try out the 6828 and see if its any better.
Thanks in advance for any feebacks
Hi Nutdhanai
I dont have an atom but knows the lossy network issues. I have an Gigabyte g-smart and have some problems connecting to gsm service, sometimes loss signal. No problems in call yet, but yes the other 2 mentioned.
When we buy an upcoming device, the OS are unfinished, like an preproduciont unit or similar. We need to stay seated on for the engineers rom updates...
Good luck, we'll have good devices.-.. or I hope so...
hi there!
also in thailand, using the rw 6828 and i recogize what you are talking about except that i have this instability all the time with DTAC. I cannot move between 2 cells without dropping a call. I have not tried another SIM of Truemove or AIS though, it might be better. Waiting for a ROM upgrade cause whatever the issue with the provider is my Motorola Razor v3 does ok on DTAC. So it must be the PDA, SLIGHTLY SIMILAR ISSUES with the 6365 before. Keep us posted on your experiences!

Preset wifi profiles on my Vario 2 = Free Hotspot access?

I was using my phone on my wifi connection earlier today, and I noticed in the Networks dialog there's a bunch of wifi connections already there (but I've not used the phone in town, and I've never even seen some of these wifi hotspot names before), so that got me thinking...
... Does the fact that I'm subscribed to Web 'n Walk as part of my tariff mean that I also have free access to any of the hotspots predefined in the list on my wifi networks screen?
Here's the full list:

Anybody have the faintest clue as to why these are already in my wifi networks list?
Yeah, I've got an idea. It's 2nd hand or ex-display. considering no-one else has reported having these hot-spots pre-configured on their Vario2s, it seems logical or at least likely that the device has been used before.
i.e. returned under the 14 day guarantee that if not satisfied with the product, they'll take it back and squash the contract. look under 'device information' and then call duration. If the call duration exceeds your actual usage, then that prooves it. If however it matches your call usage (see you call history), then maybe just maybe, T-Mobile have introduced this to their extended ROM in newer devices, but I doubt it.
All calls: 27min, 30sec.
This about tallies with the amount of calls I've made (mainly to customer services to get stuff like HSDPA set up) and a query about my account, plus a call to my Dad and a couple of mates...
I did notice during the customisation process that there was a cab containing 'June 2006' in its filename... Here's my ROM and hw stats:
ROM: 1.21.110.3
ROM date: 06/19/06
Radio: 1.05.05.00
Protocol ver: 32.36.7010.04H
My boot screen shows (in red)
M05
S04
B06
D1.21
at the lower left of the screen, and then my Radio and ROM versions show up fleetingly before the device shows the Windows Mobile splash screen. The device also had its protective screen cover on, which I had to peel off - and didn't look like the screen had been touched or used. Of course, they could clean it...
... I don't think this was a refurb though. Course, I could be wrong. I suppose I'll have to go find a wifi hotspot, or maybe ring up T-Mobile cust. services and ask :/
My Vario II also has lots of preconfigured wifi networks on it.
When I received the phone I did check the calls in/out and they were both 0 mins and the phone was immaculate (no scratches, fingerprints etc..) so I would be surprised if it was a return.
I have no idea if these wifi settings relate to free hotspots though or whether you would still have to buy a wifi key if you happened to be in range of one of them. I will give it a go next time I am in a larger town, where I live I don't think there are any public wifi hotspots.
I'm in Brum, so I'll go check it out (there's a T-Mobile hotspot in the bar just outside my uni building, which is actually a student bar too, so I'll have just go and have a couple of pints and investimagate
yeah, mine had all those preconfigured too. think it's standard.

Wow. Very interesting indeed. I'm glad to be wrong. I wonder what else you and the other guys have in your extended ROMs as this does indeed seem to be a part of Your ROM. Please let us know how you got on with the Hotspots investigation and beers.
My Vario2 came pre-loaded with eleventy million different wi-fi profiles and wondered about free hot-spot access myself but when I tried to access the hot spot at my local Starbucks it still asked me for a log on I'd & password - I tried the log on I have for My T-Mobile but it came back as invalid. My guess is you have to subscribe to hot spot access seperately.
I just noticed in my Programs list I have an Interactive menu (with the T Mobile logo superimposed over a picture of a SIM card)... Clicking it goes into an app called 'STK Service', which gives me an interactive menu.
I have the usual, Fun, Info, Music, Chat, Sports, Games, Text plus, Groups, Voicemail, t-zones (oh aye?) and Prepay topup...
So I click on t-zones, it shows a white screen with the text 't-zones' on it, and the soft keys turn into Yes and No. I click Yes, and it opens IE with a weird URL (all boxes, so in a character set I can't discern), then WM5 shows a dialog box with "Cannot connect with current connection settings. TO change your connection settings, tap Settings."
The plot thickens...
I have all of those access points as well. And mine is a brand new Vario II.
I emailed T-Mobile a while back asking this, and the other week I got a response:
Ross @ T-Mobile said:
Hi Christopher,
Thank you for your email about Wifi on your MDA.
The profiles on you phone are mostly T-Mobile related, there are some which are for T-Mobile in other countries, BT is also there as we have an agreement with them. The others are just large Wifi providers.
They are put on the phone just to make it easier for you to connect to them. They are not essential in any way to making your phone work and if you want to delete them it will not cause any problems.
I hope this answers your question, if you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact us again.
Kind regards

Just a bit of preferential configuration on their part Only takes a minute to remove though, so it's ok.
I have the exact same pre-configured Wifi profiles on mine. I just deleted them.

Yeah, I got a response a while back from T-Mobile - they are purely 'to help you connect to one of our hotspots more easily' for want of a better way of putting it.
I did a more custom install this time round when I got my replacement Hermes, and didn't install the CAB which sets up the access point SSIDs in the Wifi Network profiles... They now don't appear.
The TM rep confirmed that I didn't have access to the networks, they were just there as, effectively, shortcuts.
Not true

Mine was brand new and sealed and came like this. There is another thread about it somewhere as I remember seeing it - it definately doesn;t mean it isn't new.
Totally brand-new Vario - and these (useful) profiles were included.
If you use BT's Total Broadband package (as I do) then you will have 500 free OpenZone minutes to use every month (something they do not advertise very much).

No, it's so not true. I broke the security seal on the package. There was not a single finger mark or anything, you don't need to be a genius to tell if a phone is ex-display or 2nd hand.

wifi issues

hello all.
im having issues with my wifi. im getting realy poor reception even when standing next to the router. i did lots of reading about the matter but could not conclude whether it was a software or a hardware issue. im running stock rom.
i got the phone from google the tmobile version and im currently using it in Oman.
when i got it, i turned the phone on, it asked me if i wanted to update i said, all went perfect.
at first i didnt notice, then couple of hours later i noticed that the wifi bars will not go more than 1 bar if im 20 feets away from the router. if i put the phone on top of the router i still got one bar short than full.
last week i ordered another phone for myfather inlaw. i asked him to cancel and not update his phone to ere27, the same update i performed.
i compared his phone and mine at his house, my phone wouldnt even see the network when we were one floor down when his phone showed 2 bars.
im totaly confused, i dont want to root nor unlock the bootloader. however, i tried to manually flash the update ere27 again using sd card, thinking maybe there was some error last time. still the same.
on the other side i have a jawbone 2 headset. the reception is so bad if i take the phone more than 15cm for my headset, same with the dock. the dock being bluetooth capable, the phone doesnt have to be sitting at the dock in order for it to play music.
while i was doing my readings, it seemed that the bluetooth and wifi are the same chip, thus im wondring it might be a chip issue.
so now im back to zero, radio software issue or chip hardware issue.
some other facts:
i have no problems staying connected to my wifi with my low signal. i have no voice issues nor 3g issues. (3g still under observation and testing to see whether it works fine for me.
this week im getting another nexus one for my brother and dont know whether i ask him not to perform the ere27 update and wait till google sends another ota that might update the radio.
correct if im worng, i was thinking to flash only the radio. i currently have the 4.03, locked and unrooted and was thinking to flash the 4.04 radio but from what i understood that to flash radio u need to be rooted and unlocked?
if yes, then i will have to wait for googles ota.
if no, then point where to find the tutorials and radio file.
any feedback is much appreciated
Try the app wifi fixer... it helped me alot with keeping a good signal
i tried that also but that software helps u maintain a connection. i have no issues staying connected but i have issues with the strength of the wifi signal.
any more inputs
you should WiFi fix app because it shows you what channels are too crowded in your area and which ones are free. it sounds like your channel is so crowded that even next to the router the phone can't get a good signal.
hello
thank u for ur input. today i asked my father inlaw to update his nexus one to update1. i have asked him to refrain from it before thinking it might be a software issue on mine. after his update, his signals got even better when mine struggled to maintain a signal. mind u both phone where next to each other.
i also had blurtooth issues using my jawbone. at first i thought it was my bluetooth but today i tried his headset. the headset would start staticing if the phone is below my shoulder. after doing some readings, i learnt that the nexus one shares the same chip for bluetooth and wifi.
now im certain its a hardware issue.
since im in oman, i emailed htc and told them about the problem and my location. i offered them the option of me sending the phone to my company in san diego or directly to them. lets see what they say.
in the meantime, i decided to purchase another n1 (loaner) till i send mine and have it back after repair. after which i will sell the loaner ; )
cheers

So is the wifi issue hardware or software?

I am wondering if the wifi issue is software or hardware problem? I am hoping its a software issue and will be fixed in an update because my 14 days have passed for best buy return policy. If its hardware could i just send it into acer? Just sucks I can barley go outside my room with the router to keep signal.
I have no problem what so ever with my wifi, i can even connect to my wifi when i visit my parents across the street.
Its not some high grade wifi either, just a small d-link access point.
I've had no issues with wifi connections either. I've even sat in the parking lot at McD's and accessed their wifi. It see's several of my neighbors networks too.
what wifi issue??
What they said. I've had no problems with either if my tablets
wifi great for me as well
I can see several neighbors router sitting anywhere in my home.our router is in the basement.I can go out in the far back yard and and still connected.with that said I never have more then 2 bars I do not think it reports correctly.

My first unit would drop from 5 to 2 bars walking out of the bedroom my new dual band n1 was was sittin. Within 25 feet when I checked to update my tablet, I gotta 'signal too poor' message.
I called acer support, gal I spoke with was green with the device but put on hold and consulted with a senior support tech. They took my info and directed me to exchange the device.
I did the next day and the new unit has no issues with connectivity any longer.
Yes there is a few units out in the wild that they deem to have a defective wifi device on-board....
I would suggest exchanging if you still can asap, although I'm sure you would have no issue gettin a replacement from acer 'america' if you gave them a shout.
Give them a call, I'm sure they will help you out and post your response from them.
Really ??
You exchanged through Acer support ?? I thought most people would just take it to where they bought it .. I would never have thought of that ... only if my return timeline with the store were expired and then we would contact support based on the 1 year warranty ..etc
good to know -)

I took it back to staples where I purchased....
ya but i waited past my 14 days to return to best buy....so now id have to send it in which i dont want to at all. To clarify...it has got better the last few days..dunno how. But i downloaded wifi analyzer on both my nook color and this and kept comparing the 2. The nook does occasionally about 10 dmb stronger but for the most part its pretty close to the same.
Maybe It's Something Else...
For the past couple of hours I've been playing with FTP servers on my Iconia (and found two apps in the Market that make it easy to set up - FTP Server and Wireless File Transfer - both free). See this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1094289
Now I was thinking, on some of my earlier mobile devices, there was a setting that was called "WiFi Powersave" or something like that and it was always recommended to turn that off because it screwed up the WiFi by cycling it when the thing thought you needed to conserve battery life.
Sort of like the f.....ng useless confirmations that Windoze likes to throw in every app. Anyway, does anyone know of a kind of "hidden setting" that Acer might of thrown in 'cause sometimes WiFi file transfer works great and sometimes my PC cannot find the Iconia?

GSM signal dropping and then disappearing?

I have had my HD2 since March 2011. It is unlocked, HSPL 2.08 and radio 2.15.50.14. Apart from the known issues with the Phone Canvas with later WM6.5 builds it has been fine. I have been cooking ROMs since my Wizard and then the Blackstone so I am reasonably experienced. I currently have my own custom build installed based on 5.2.23568.
For about a week now it seems to have developed a fault in that the GSM signal just drops off and then goes 'searching'. If I soft-reset the phone it will usually come back and then start to drop off again. If I disable the GSM radio and then re-enable it sometimes it won't enable immediately and might take three goes at the slider going green and then it asking for my PIN.
I have hard-reset, installed various different radios and recently re-flashed but the issue remains. I have also taken the case off the phone and ensured the 'touch' connecters are making contact with the antenna in the case housing. I ahave also reflashed te stock ROM and still the issue remains.
I have now reverted back to my Blackstone as it has become intolerable.
At the moment I have the Blackstone and the HD2 sat next to each other (both with Vodafone SIM cards installed) and the Blackstone has all 4-bars displayed and the HD2 has the 'Martini glass' searching symbol displayed.

Its an eBay purchase but is more or less immaculate - it isn't something I can get my carrier to repair if it is a hardware fault.....
Any ideas
First (not trying to be rude) have you swopped sim cards to ensure its not a sim issue?
Next (I read on you trying different roms) task 29 and reinstall a stock win mo rom, its been known that on occasions failures are resolved by doing this, if it works they put your rom back on.
sadly thats the best I can offer
Like above check sim card fully & network for issues.
I had a very similar issue on my old Touch Pro, signal would go weak & sometimes overnight would loose conection & I would need to toggle flight mode & then all would be ok.
I started think that was likely hardware after calling network & tech support was convinced my device, well turned out was network prob & only linked to that one sim & how it registered to tower !
So check it out well.
Also you could try padding the back of the sim with some tape in case it is a sim contact issue ... & perhaps flash a stock ROM from SD so everwrite HSPL,Radio & also rilphone.dll will all be paired as should be !
All long shots but not much else left ... Good luck ...
I have similar problem. The phone has weak signal and it looses signal on weaker spots where other phones have full signal.
I have HD2 from US and I am in Europe. Maybe I should put some Europe RAdio?
Also sound is very low.

Take CARE when flashing radios as non compatible versions on a US T-Mobile HD2 could result in HD2 paperweight.
My HD2 seems on par with other devices I have compared it for reception strength & I use it in some weak areas without issues.
Have seen a few posts on weak reception so it is either a particular SPL Radio & ROM combo is to blame or hardware issue if unlucky ...
Thanks for the replies it's much appreciated.
Firstly I have swapped SIM cards around (Vodafone Contract SIM & Vodafone Pay&Go SIM) and the fault follows the HD2. I think it has to be hardware or somthing 'unique' with my IMEI number and it registering?
It seems bizzare as I can sit here and watch the signal bars gradually drop off and then it go to 'searching' whilst the Blackstone just sits there happily with 3-bars and never budges.
I am unsure how to approach Vodafone about it as its my own phone (not supplied on a contract) and I think they would be able to give me some technical information as to what's happening with the registrations.

I would recommend try other network sims or a foreign sim & you can then connect to various networks (roaming) & test signal reception.
That is how I got evidence that it was my network (DTAC) at fault, luckily my network main Office is near my work office so I turned up & pushed the issue until they produced a technical individual with the required knowledge & gumption to help resolve the issue.
The Phone Techies are useless unless you get lucky & we are talking national lottery lucky here.
Chances of hardware are quite high too as a few threads along same issue as yours are around on HD2 reception.
It gets more bizzare - Since the Leo is just better than the Blackstone I decided to take both with me and keep the Blackstone as 'fallback'. Tuesday & Wednesday I worked in Hull and the Leo worked just fine. Went out to the pub last night and the Leo just wouldn't register. Over a period of about 15-minutes I tried soft resetting, taking the battery out etc but nothing. I gave up and left the phone on the bar whilst I was talking to someone and then 5-minutes later I get a text - check the phone and its got 3-bars of signal? I sent a text reply and then the phone seemed to be OK.
Today the phone has been in the same position at home where I took the photo above and its not lost connection all day (so far).
I don't know what to think but I still believe it isn't fixed....
