mms on tmous - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

im just wondering for those of you not able to send mms, have you switched your data plan to the android data plan?

I've actually tried it just to see and it seems like it's not a problem with the data plan at all as using the HD2's Data Plan, I'm unable to send but can receive (once I change some settings) and it is the same with the Android Data Plan.
I believe that sending MMS is still an issue that needs to be fixed on all builds. Hopefully we'll see a nice big release with MMS fixed next month.

+1 MMS bug...

I have tried all builds and it seems that I am able to send and receive with the sense builds but the pics re degraded. With senseless builds I am unable to send. However I have noticed that they all have the following missing field in common.
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
This seems to be missing on them all and I feel that if it was supplied then we TMOUS users would not have this issue.

I have working mms.. I'll be able to post my settings later so yall can test them out on ur devices

Reason and solution
Here is my 2 cents on the subject of sending MMS messages.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=758748

I can't find the post or the person to give credit to but he/she figure out that
if you change the MMS port from blank to 8080, save the settings and reboot
All the MMS work great (sending and receiving) I have sent at least a dozen and they get to there destination successfully and in full size (just as I took them )

Hm, I tried this and I could send and receive but it still comes through small. Anyone know how to change the send limit? I am using chompsms and you can change to 1mb but the stock message app still limits the pic sizes to under 300kb

Issue with Voicemail Notifications and MMS (UK O2)

Hi all
Had my N1 for a little while now and two main issues remain: Voicemail Notifications (lack of) and MMS (not working). I'm on O2.
Voicemail: I've configured my voicemail number (901) which works when I dial voicemail, but I don't get any notifications through of new voicemails.
MMS: I've got two APN's configured (as per previous discussions on modaco/xdadev). The internet one is working (apn type: not set) but the MMS one (apn [email protected]: mms) appears not to work. Basically I get an error if I try and download an MMS message (download of message was unsuccessful). Doesn't work over GSM or Wi-Fi.
Can someone on O2 confirm what works please?
Thanks

Works for me to send - yet to receive (but this worked on my HTC Magic without any problem).
I also get the voicemail notification icon in my notification bar without any problems.
Have you reset the notification method using the voicemail options menu when you dial 901?
No I hadn't (as it's just worked before on previous phones). I've (re)configured it to display the notification icon so i'll test it tomorrow.
The MMS APN settings were close to what I already had but changing to exactly what you put above doesn't work. Same error.
Do you have the ability to screen grab your APN's so I could compare?
Thanks

No screen grab available for me I'm afraid but I cut and pasted the settings from an archived document I've used to setup a G1, Magic and N1 on O2 without issue. I've also posted them on here and other forums for people with mms problems.
Are you on a monthly contract? If not, settings will be different. Have you confirmed with O2 that your account has mms enabled?
I'll get a mate to mms me tomorrow and confirm that there's no problems for me with these settings.
Reduce the size of the MMS you're trying to send to <300kb... the messaging app doesn't resize them and a lot of networks have size limits.

I found this link on the O2 forum for when i got my N1. Iv used it to set up my N1 and my Wifes Magic. MMS works, although i remember reading a problem somewhere that because the O2 network doesnt currently support HTC phones, the image resizing is a bit pants. Recieving images come through at something like 160x160... terrible
Sorry for posting link funny, but all settings are right there!
These are the settings i've tried before, but i'll give it another go, thanks

Also what proxy do you have set underneath the APN address? There are two proxy addresses for the APN but you only detailed one.
The only other thing that may be different is that my O2 tarriff is a business one, not residential, but from searching around the settings aren't different.

ok after searching online I found a post with the settings for iphone android APN and the only difference I see is the username and password. Tried it and still don't work.
Have you managed to sort this yet, Im having the same issue, tried loads of apn settings to no avail
No still haven't got it working. I can use 3g fine just not MMS
There is a free program on the android market called APN Backup & Restore. It would be nice if someone with working O2 MMS settings could back up the APN settings and put the file on here.

Hmm yeah these settings seem to have stopped working on my phone now .
After first entering them all the failed messages I had queued up started going through. But I just tried sending another one and am getting "Generic network failure" again.
It seems to sometimes send them OK and other times keep failing.
I just tried copying the settings over from my colleagues Dell Streak using APN Backup & Restore. Still not working properly. Those settings are working fine on the streak. I wonder if the problem could be somewhere else..
I am starting to wonder if this could be an issue with the o2 network itself?
Last night at around midnight I was able to send/receive a MMS with no problems both went through very quickly. This morning I try again and I jsut get "Generic Network Failure"
Guess I need to try on a WM build to verify whether is is o2 or an android issue.
I switched back to WM for a bit. Just tried it as you put the post and my MMS in WM works fine.

the main bug i have with android and o2 is that the apn setup loads too many apns by default. Its made more confusing because o2 is one of those networks that needs different settings for data and mms. some use combined servers and such.
When i flash android i get the following apns configured
giffgaff
o2 uk
o2 uk
o2 uk postpay mms
o2 uk prepay mms
tesco
giffgaff *
o2 mms postpay *
o2 mms prepay *
o2 uk mms *
the * ones are mms only apns, so dont have a radio toggle button on the right hand side.
The problem i think is that some accounts are set for data and mms, and others just for data, and some for just mms so i suspect they interfere. (my guess is the two 'o2 uk postpay mms' & 'o2 uk prepay mms' ones, because they are set to be used for data and mms, and ive tested them and they dont work... or the contract one doesnt anyway)
Im on O2 contract, and what i do is delete all apns except
the first 'O2 UK' (with the radio button, and username o2web)
and
'o2 MMS postpay' (without the radio button)
delete everything else, then reboot. mms settings sometimes dont seem to change till reboot, but data apn settings changes do seem to take immediately.
settings for 'o2 uk'
Name 'O2 UK' (anything)
APN 'mobile.o2.co.uk'
Proxy 'not set'
Port 'not set'
Username 'O2Web'
Password 'password'
Server 'not set'
MMSC 'not set'
MMS Proxy 'not set'
MMS Port 'not set'
MMC '234'
MNC '10'
Authentication 'not set'
APN Type 'default,supl'
then, a second APN, to handle the mms

APN 'wap.o2.co.uk'
Proxy 'not set'
Port 'not set'
Username 'O2wap'
Password 'password'
Server 'not set'
MMSC 'http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002'

Updated MMS Access point Settings Solution

MMS Settings,
To start off, I have seen mixed results with people getting the following settings to work:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: (leave this blank)
Password: (leave this blank)
Server: (leave this blank)
MMSC: http://mms.msg.english.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50
MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0 (if you have this)
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: default,supl,mms
However, even with the new ppp enabled builds I still was not able to send msgs. I did some research and took a look at an ADB log while attempting to send with these settings. I noticed that the log would throw an error for (bad http gateway) for the mms.
I looked around and noticed that under windows mobile the MMSC address is a bit different. I went ahead and replaced the following:
MMSC: http://mms.msg.english.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc (not working)
with
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc (working)
As soon as i changed this I was able to send mms immediately, the message went out fast and without issue. Somepeople way want to give this a try if they still can't send.
I posted this on Shui's thread and people are having good results. I have confirmed it fixes mms sending issues on both shui8 build and Mattc Froyo/sense build.
Update on testing of settings 08/27/2010
After some further testing I found that placing the proxy address and port for the main data connection causes some issues loading some webpages that use ssl, (web page would come up blank). I removed the proxy and port entry that were under the access point name and left the entries as they were under the mms settings. MMS still works and now I am no longer seeing problems with SSL pages loading a a blank white page.
Updated settings should appear as below for working mms and preventing web traffic from being incorrectly proxied.
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: (leave this blank)

Does it solve the issue of the fuzzy small pic when its being received as well? Thanks
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Just confirmed these settings on my TMOUS phone running Matt's Froyo 1.6b PPP Version. Picture sent to my wife and she received it within 30 seconds of me pressing send. Also, the picture she sent back to me came in just as fast with no loss to picture quality. Thanks for the settings!

In my testing pictures send and receive at the proper size when using a vanilla android based rom (ie shui/plain foyo 2.2).
However when using a desire/sense based rom it seems that there may be issues when receiving pictures. The problem being that the picture/msg still arrives on the hd2 fine but that because the phone is identifying itself to Tmobile as an HTC desire in its user agent tmobile's servers are resizing the picture, thus leaving you with the tiny photo when receiving.
A possible solution I've seen researching the problem appears to be modifying the desire's mms/sms apk to change the hardcoded useragent. This solution appears to have been used on phones like the hero which had the same type of issue but that apk isn't currently compatible with the newer 2.2 based sense roms.
doesn't work for me, running mattc 1.6b
doesn't send the mms, and when i go to wireless & networks, the status for mobile network says "connection failed"

MMS Settings,
To start off, I have seen mixed results with people getting the following settings to work:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: (leave this blank)
Password: (leave this blank)
Server: (leave this blank)
MMSC: http://mms.msg.english.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50
MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0 (if you have this)
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: default,supl,mms
However, even with the new ppp enabled builds I still was not able to send msgs. I did some research and took a look at an ADB log while attempting to send with these settings. I noticed that the log would throw an error for (bad http gateway) for the mms.
I looked around and noticed that under windows mobile the MMSC address is a bit different. I went ahead and replaced the following:
MMSC: http://mms.msg.english.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc (not working)
with
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms (working)
As soon as i changed this I was able to send mms immediately, the message went out fast and without issue. Somepeople way want to give this a try if they still can't send.
I posted this on Shui's thread and people are having good results. I have confirmed it fixes mms sending issues on both shui8 build and Mattc Froyo/sense build.

It just made sense to me that the settings from the Nexus One should work if I were using a Nexus One based build. I noticed that some of the builds contained the MMS Protocol field and some(Nexus One based builds) didn't. So I researched it and found a solution here:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=728949efd681db72&hl=en
They had been sitting there waiting all along.
Doesn't work!

Work!

And it works for me with no problems.

These settings do not work for me>
im running mattc 1.6b with the radio 2.12.50.02.2 and WM barbones by energy.
ive tried all those settings listed above and i am able to recieve them but i cannot send them.
http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms appears to be working fine for me, no small fuzzy pics either.
ChuckyDroid + 2.12.50.02_2 + Shubcraft 1.4d
I got MattC sense 1.6b RMNET
But like none of the APN settings work for me, AT all or if it does it says unable, then i can onnly send 1 MMS then it says unable every other time.
Is it my WM rom?
ChunkyDroid
Radio 2.12
2.08.HSPL
TMOUSA
works great for me.
Shub 1.4
2.12.5
chucky droidrom
I still have yet to get working MMS for me. Since Android was released for HD2, have yet to get one message to work.. /sigh maybe time to change builds...
Awesome. Finally what I needed
I have tried everything i could possibly find on this site with no luck. Maybe i should try a different android rom? I really dont want to becuz i love mattc's builds but i want to send mms too!
Im using mattcs 1.6b
2.12 radio
And barebones WM by energy
Anyone have suggestions for what to do?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Are these settings and changes suppose to be made under Windows and Android?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
confirm
The updated settings work for me.
TMOUS
Stock rom
Stock radio
using HYPERDROID V1.1
MMS sent picture and voice messages and recieved a small video message 18kb
thanks this worked great.
Seems as if mattc Rom is the issue when it comes to mms because every other Rom it works with no fuzzy pics mattc Rom it doesn't

How would you like people to help you when you only ask a question without any background info like Android build, network, etc?
Sent from my HD2 Droid (HD) using XDA App
Sorry about that. Data is good. Never really drops on me. I forgot what build I'm using but its a desire hd build. Everything else works perfectly. I can send and receive emails and everything else except for MMS. It always gives me a "generic network failure".

Hd2 android wifi hotspot

I'm amazed that I'm a walking wifi spot I was wondering what instruments on this cell phone allows this to happen? Also on the software level too. Also is there anyway to get a front facing camera on this device yet? If not, any ideas I used to browse this forum on a daily basis when nand first came out but have ben up to other things. I know this device is great since it can switch to ashitload of other operating systems. I love hd2 I've had this phone for a year now and still loving it.

Getting a front faced camera would not be possible because it was never built into the phone to start with. It would be nice though!

I did what you recommend but still doesn't work. I have swap the phone fully with Task29 reinstall the android but still the same problem. Really i don't know what shall i do.
Anyway the protocoll WAP 2.0 i just didnt found.
I had the exact same problem, couldn't get a data connection on the O2 Pay & Go SIM, but here's how I fixed it.
1. Press the menu button > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Acces Point Names
2. Press the menu button > New APN
3. Enter the following settings:
Name - O2 Pay & Go
APN - payandgo.o2.co.uk
Proxy - 193.113.200.195
Port - 8080
Username - payandgo
Password - password
Server - (Leave this blank, it should say "<Not set>")
MMSC - ht tp://m msc.mms.o2.co.uk (Take out the spaces, the spam filter prevents me from posting urls)
MMS proxy - 193.113.200.195
MMS port - 8080
MCC - (This should by default be set to "234", if it's not, set it to "234")
MNC - (This should by default be set to "10", if it's not, set it to "10")
Authentication type - PAP
APN type - Internet, MMS
APN protocall - (This should by default be set to "IPv4", if it's not, set it to "IPv4")
4. Press the menu button > Save
5. When you reach the previous menu (Acces Point Names), find the APN you just set up (O2 Pay & Go), and select it.
6. Wait a bit, and your connection should start to work
I got this information from an O2 Customer Support email (PM me and I can forward it to you), and it worked on my device, an HD2 running Typhoon's CM7, with an O2 Pay & Go SIM.

Thanks but i have received on this week 5 email from the o2 support department.
I have had this settings. Anyway i have got the solution for my problem. The problem was so banal: i have had an GPS bar!?!? on my account wich was blocking the acces to the o2 internet service. An o2 guru took off this from my account by online. It was just one clicking him but i was just suffering a whole week with this problem. I was at least 4 different o2 shop nobody could recognize this problem...
Really i don't know how could happend this but now the internet acces working fine on my android OS.
Well, that's good that you got it fixed.
