Updated MMS Access point Settings Solution - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

MMS Settings,
To start off, I have seen mixed results with people getting the following settings to work:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: (leave this blank)
Password: (leave this blank)
Server: (leave this blank)
MMSC: http://mms.msg.english.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50
MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0 (if you have this)
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: default,supl,mms
However, even with the new ppp enabled builds I still was not able to send msgs. I did some research and took a look at an ADB log while attempting to send with these settings. I noticed that the log would throw an error for (bad http gateway) for the mms.
I looked around and noticed that under windows mobile the MMSC address is a bit different. I went ahead and replaced the following:
MMSC: http://mms.msg.english.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc (not working)
with
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc (working)
As soon as i changed this I was able to send mms immediately, the message went out fast and without issue. Somepeople way want to give this a try if they still can't send.
I posted this on Shui's thread and people are having good results. I have confirmed it fixes mms sending issues on both shui8 build and Mattc Froyo/sense build.
Update on testing of settings 08/27/2010
After some further testing I found that placing the proxy address and port for the main data connection causes some issues loading some webpages that use ssl, (web page would come up blank). I removed the proxy and port entry that were under the access point name and left the entries as they were under the mms settings. MMS still works and now I am no longer seeing problems with SSL pages loading a a blank white page.
Updated settings should appear as below for working mms and preventing web traffic from being incorrectly proxied.
Name: T-Mobile US

Does it solve the issue of the fuzzy small pic when its being received as well? Thanks
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Just confirmed these settings on my TMOUS phone running Matt's Froyo 1.6b PPP Version. Picture sent to my wife and she received it within 30 seconds of me pressing send. Also, the picture she sent back to me came in just as fast with no loss to picture quality. Thanks for the settings!

In my testing pictures send and receive at the proper size when using a vanilla android based rom (ie shui/plain foyo 2.2).
However when using a desire/sense based rom it seems that there may be issues when receiving pictures. The problem being that the picture/msg still arrives on the hd2 fine but that because the phone is identifying itself to Tmobile as an HTC desire in its user agent tmobile's servers are resizing the picture, thus leaving you with the tiny photo when receiving.
A possible solution I've seen researching the problem appears to be modifying the desire's mms/sms apk to change the hardcoded useragent. This solution appears to have been used on phones like the hero which had the same type of issue but that apk isn't currently compatible with the newer 2.2 based sense roms.

doesn't work for me, running mattc 1.6b
doesn't send the mms, and when i go to wireless & networks, the status for mobile network says "connection failed"

I first posted these settings on the 23rd in the thread listed below.

It just made sense to me that the settings from the Nexus One should work if I were using a Nexus One based build. I noticed that some of the builds contained the MMS Protocol field and some(Nexus One based builds) didn't. So I researched it and found a solution here:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=728949efd681db72&hl=en
They had been sitting there waiting all along.

Doesn't work!

Work!
http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
And it works for me with no problems.

Sending and receiving works but I still get a very fuzzy pic using mattc 1.6b
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

These settings do not work for me>

im running mattc 1.6b with the radio 2.12.50.02.2 and WM barbones by energy.
ive tried all those settings listed above and i am able to recieve them but i cannot send them.

http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms appears to be working fine for me, no small fuzzy pics either.
ChuckyDroid + 2.12.50.02_2 + Shubcraft 1.4d

I got MattC sense 1.6b RMNET
But like none of the APN settings work for me, AT all or if it does it says unable, then i can onnly send 1 MMS then it says unable every other time.
Is it my WM rom?
ChunkyDroid
Radio 2.12
2.08.HSPL
TMOUSA

works great for me.
Shub 1.4
2.12.5
chucky droidrom

I still have yet to get working MMS for me. Since Android was released for HD2, have yet to get one message to work.. /sigh maybe time to change builds...

Awesome. Finally what I needed

I have tried everything i could possibly find on this site with no luck. Maybe i should try a different android rom? I really dont want to becuz i love mattc's builds but i want to send mms too!
Im using mattcs 1.6b
2.12 radio
And barebones WM by energy
Anyone have suggestions for what to do?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Are these settings and changes suppose to be made under Windows and Android?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

confirm
The updated settings work for me.
TMOUS
Stock rom
Stock radio
using HYPERDROID V1.1
MMS sent picture and voice messages and recieved a small video message 18kb
thanks this worked great.

Seems as if mattc Rom is the issue when it comes to mms because every other Rom it works with no fuzzy pics mattc Rom it doesn't

Does MMS work on hd2 with android froyo?

hello all
i recently changed from the windows os to the android os on my T-mobile US Htc HD2.
i need help with one minor problem i have been having; i cannot send or recieve mms while on android on the HD2.
i am running the android froyo 2.2 by dan1j3l (or however its spelled ) and i have had no problems at all, except this. Oh, and i noticed that the volume(sound:ringtones, speakerphone in calls..) is lower than when running windows mobile. but to make things clear, i do have sound on my HD2 when on android froyo.
those are the only two minor problems i have had on the phone.
please help me
im not sure what other information may be needed in order to help me solve my problem, but it would be much appreciated!
thank you,
Vic_Gar
most everyone IS having trouble with the mms... i can recieve as i've heard others can as well but few can send. it's being worked on.
As for sound, it's the same thing... i think i read a few builds have improved sound quality but i'm not sure which... just gotta keep trying em all out, that's what i did.
I am also having this problem hopefully the devs will fix this..its been a month since i could send or recieve MMS
oo and im running froyostone rom
add me to the list.
although...i did have it working for a bit, using the settings where the proxy was set up in the default apn as well as the mmsc field. but it was SLOOOOOOOW (like 10 mins) to send an MMS. I messed with it (of course) now it won't send at all.
I can't find where I saw it but as far as low volume goes you need to max the volume in Windows before booting Android. As android basically runs like an app initially the WM volume setting is applied to it. Hope that helps.
ok, mms is working again.
it's still really slow though. This is my setup. What's a bit different from what I've seen is the combo of filling out the default prox/port and the apn type. I think most of what i've seen suggests filling one or the other.

I had this issue before myself when I first installed Froyo. What I did:
Before booting into Android, I made a call and hit Speaker, then raised the Call Volume all the way. I then turned off Speaker and raised the Call Volume again. I also double-checked the "Sounds" settings and made sure everything was set to "Normal".
I no longer have issues with the sound.
Hope this helps!
I can send and reciece MMS in Android
Im running Htcclay's SuperHD2 on mine and the only thing that acts up is if i use Chomp SMS. When that preview popup comes up with the text, when i reply it doesnt send. Everything works fine if i open the text and send a sms/mms
I have better luck sending and receiving mms using RMNET rather than ppp. It is very slow to send though...
I tried xjjk settings and, they did work for me. I don't have the MMS Protocol setting. Mine is not slow either.
So far this is working for me.
I'm using Darkstone HD2Froyo V3
There is a mdeejay build revolution 1.5. It has a link to mms fix for t-mobile us.

How'd you get it to start working?
While booted in android goto settings, wireless controls, mobile networks, access point names, press menu and select new apn, enter the above settings, press menu save. Go back into apn and select your apn you created.

yes follow the directions to add the MMS settings on your phone. everything will work after you install but with Android on your Micro SD card remember to reboot after the first boot. then everything should work.
once i got the settings right everything was working fine recv and sending MMS

Those are one of the two most common TMOUS "working" settings I've seen floating around on the forums, and I highly believe that the settings depend on your plan, location, or some other vague difference. Also, some mention setting the proxy screws up their https sessions. The other version is:
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: <not set>
Password: <not set>
Server: <not set>
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50
MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type:default,supl,mms
There's a few TMOUS MMS threads floating around that might have other settings as well. Try one of the two above & see what works for you.
Also, I found I can't send MMS to a friend of mine, and after some troubleshooting, found that it's our phones sending too big of pics for her phone (on AT&T) to receive. I installed an app on an earlier build (that I can't remember name of) that pre-shrunk pics before sending, which then worked fine. So, when testing, check to see if it's your phone not sending, or just theirs not receiving.
This fixed my issue! yay! Thanks you!

Tmobile US, HD2 and Android MMS issues

I'm not totally sure where this should go. But I've been reading up quite a bit and decided to try out android on my hd2. What ive got is a HD2 Tmobile US 1024, I'm curently running FroyoStone Sense V3.2 from october17, im running HSPL, and radio 2.12.50.02_2, the issue I have is ive been thrue the apn settings, called up tmobile even and they had me input the apn settings epc.tmobile.com and i get nothing, i have working 3g internet, however its spotty, seams to drop connection alot, but when i get a mms i go to download and it fails every time no matter what i do. now tmobile when i called up tech support, they said i need to just switch to a android data plan, as its the same price i can switch back and forth as much as id like, and it would allow it to work.. however ive see people here be able to get it to work, but most say it works with a smartphone plan.. i'm woundering if somthing els has changed tmobile side that would make me have to switch or do i have to switch or am i missing something in settings entirly here? id just like to find an answer to resolve this issue thanks and sorry again if this is in the wrong location...
This is an EXTREMELY common problem, and the solution can be found by using the search function.
i'm not sure you get what im saying, ive done the whole settings with the mmc settings and proxy settings ect and cant get it to work fallowing the stuff here. failure to download message every time no matter what settings i use in the apn, wich is why i'm woundering wich is the official instructions, and or if i need to get the android data plan insted.

You do not need to use an Android data plan. I am using a T-Mobile US HD2 on the T-Mobile US network and can send/receive MMS just fine. My connection, like yours, is spotty but it DOES work. Try the following APN settings. If they do not work then I'm not really sure what to do aside from try a different Android ROM maybe..

I personally use M-Deejay's Froyo HD v3.7. It's a Desire HD port. I use the 2.12.50.02_2 radio. I use the 3.14.531.0 (04666) WWE T-Mobile ROM as my base but my build is 23563(A personal unreleased ROM). I'm also using HardSPL3.
As far as WM ROM is concerned, I don't share my ROM. You could try any other WM ROM based off of the base ROM I mentioned above though and it should work just fine for you.
Best of luck!

About 3 or 4 months ago, we noticed our family plan phones would not send or receive MMS. I chatted online with T-Mobile support for hours and after the support tech resent several different sets of settings to our phones... magic ! He said our network settings had been surreptitiously changed by recent work on the network and he had no idea why.
Are you sure your phone is at fault?

I had the same problem as everybody else except when I used BlueTopia BUT my choice of flavor has always been MDJ Froyo (currently V 4.6) and I tried all the same things you guys did. The ONLY thing that has worked for me, fixing MMS size to 1024 and send/receive issues is found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9511483&postcount=3336 Let me know if you guys need any help installing...I personally used Root Explorer to change the files, reset and boom everything was working PERFECT.

i have these exact settings. if i send myself a test mms it comes back, as working, in less than 30 seconds - flawless. however, when i send messages to other networks (like at&t and iphoner's) the messages don't get there.
i have read that our dns settins have to match the apn but i have no clue as to how the dns settings impact mms delivery. are iphones pre set to receive a certain size mms? any help would be appreciated.
I've never messed with DNS setting and when I've called cs they never mentioned it..

[Q] Can't send/receive MMS while on Wifi w/Royal Glacier 1.3

I did a search and I'm using some APN settings I found in another thread. They are:
Name: T-Mobile
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050
MMS Port: 8080

MNC: 260
Authentication Type: leave blank
APN: default,supl,mms
I still can't get MMS to send/receive over wifi even with these settings. They worked on the stock ROM, and I'm not 100%, but I think I also had them working with Royal Ginger 1.5. Any help is appreciated.
If you are using wifi calling.... welcome to my world.
I depend on wifi calling to use my phone at home.
On royal glacier... the apn settings that are built into the rom work for the rom. The issue I have is with any sense based roms. No matter what I have done for apn settings, my phone will never send or receive a mms. Text works fine. I've used apn backup programs. Manually edited them. Tried 10 different apn settings I have found online.
Any AOSP rom I use... mms works perfectly. Without editing anything. Load up a sense rom. No mms.
If you get it fixed.. lemme know. I love aosp .. but would love to know the fix.

[Q] MMS not working - Virtuos Unity 1.31.0

I had been running 1.31.0 for several weeks without any issues, but now I can't send out any MMS messages. I wiped and re-installed the Virtuous Unity ROM but my MMS still isn't working. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your help.

WiFi Calling and MMS Problems (Post 4956)
Fixed my issues with Wifi-Calling MMS.
I talked to TMobile and they gave me the correct info for the APN settings.
I deleted both of the APNs listed under wireless settings and created a new one.
Just in case any of you are having issues with SMS or MMS using Wifi-Calling.. give this a shot.
Create a new APN.
Name: T-Mobile
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050
MMS Port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication Type: leave blank
APN: default, supl, mms (Very important to not have a space in there.. just the ,)
hit the menu button and hit save. then use that apn. You should now have working MMS and SMS.
