Issue with Voicemail Notifications and MMS (UK O2) - Nexus One General

Hi all
Had my N1 for a little while now and two main issues remain: Voicemail Notifications (lack of) and MMS (not working). I'm on O2.
Voicemail: I've configured my voicemail number (901) which works when I dial voicemail, but I don't get any notifications through of new voicemails.
MMS: I've got two APN's configured (as per previous discussions on modaco/xdadev). The internet one is working (apn type: not set) but the MMS one (apn [email protected]: mms) appears not to work. Basically I get an error if I try and download an MMS message (download of message was unsuccessful). Doesn't work over GSM or Wi-Fi.
Can someone on O2 confirm what works please?
Thanks

Works for me to send - yet to receive (but this worked on my HTC Magic without any problem).
I also get the voicemail notification icon in my notification bar without any problems.
Have you reset the notification method using the voicemail options menu when you dial 901?

No I hadn't (as it's just worked before on previous phones). I've (re)configured it to display the notification icon so i'll test it tomorrow.
The MMS APN settings were close to what I already had but changing to exactly what you put above doesn't work. Same error.
Do you have the ability to screen grab your APN's so I could compare?
Thanks

No screen grab available for me I'm afraid but I cut and pasted the settings from an archived document I've used to setup a G1, Magic and N1 on O2 without issue. I've also posted them on here and other forums for people with mms problems.
Are you on a monthly contract? If not, settings will be different. Have you confirmed with O2 that your account has mms enabled?
I'll get a mate to mms me tomorrow and confirm that there's no problems for me with these settings.

Reduce the size of the MMS you're trying to send to <300kb... the messaging app doesn't resize them and a lot of networks have size limits.

MMS was working fine on my old phone, HTC Rose.

I found this link on the O2 forum for when i got my N1. Iv used it to set up my N1 and my Wifes Magic. MMS works, although i remember reading a problem somewhere that because the O2 network doesnt currently support HTC phones, the image resizing is a bit pants. Recieving images come through at something like 160x160... terrible
Sorry for posting link funny, but all settings are right there!

These are the settings i've tried before, but i'll give it another go, thanks

Right - fiddled a bit with my settings this morning after running some tests:
These are definitely working for me (receiving and sending) - note small differences from my previous post..

Thanks, still not working for me. In my list of APN's (two, one internet and the mms one), I have a green dot next to the internet one but nothing next to the mms one. Is that right?
Also what proxy do you have set underneath the APN address? There are two proxy addresses for the APN but you only detailed one.
The only other thing that may be different is that my O2 tarriff is a business one, not residential, but from searching around the settings aren't different.

02 APN Settings

Hello,
Could someone please help me out with the correct APN Settings for O2 (contract)?
I have searched the web for settings, but they don't seem to work and all are different from each other. Does anyone have the correct settings so that I can use the internet as well as send and receive MMS?
Thanks
Of course, I had exactly the same problem, took me an age to get O2 working OK.
Set up two access points (Seetings>wireless controls>mobile networks>access point names>menu) with the following settings
1st
Name: O2 Internet
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
username: vertigo
password: password
MCC:234
MNC 10
APN type: default (actually type in default, don't leave it blank)
All others remain as "not set".
2nd access point
Name: O2 MMS
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
proxy: http://wap.o2.co.uk
port:9201
username: o2wap
password: password
server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
mmsc: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
mms proxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
APN type: mms
Save and switch phone off and on.
It is worth noting that I had an iPhone tariff as I changed my iphone for a magic. I spoke to O2 about it when it didn't work and they enabled MMS, still didn't work. We solved it by changing my tariff to a normal O2 tariff, same cost and freebies, just a different name.
That's excellent! Thanks, it worked a treat!
Would be good if people could start adding these in the APN settings on the new ROMS
hi i have been struggling for a week to sort my mms. have internet but not able to send or receive mms. able to bluetooth pics but not able to receive. called o2 and after trying all sorts still no luck. my x10 was unlocked from orange and aqpparently this was the prob. needed unlatching from orange code to access mms settings. bought phone from ebay unable to reach seller and oeange would not deal with me. did a repair of phone thro sony web site which meant was able to receive bluetooth pics but still no sending or receiving via mms. cut a long story short, just downloaded these settings and all working perfect. to me you are a god thanks so much for this info. searching the forum this seems to be a common prob and you have the answer. seen so many of these settings but all vary slightly. i am a very very very happy bunny. thanks again

T Mobile G2 APN settings needed

I rooted my G2 and flashed the Modaco v2.3 rom. Everything is fine except that I have no mobile data, the APN settings are empty.
Now I've searched for several hours and found many sets of T mobile settings but none of them work.

Note, no .co
You should also set up another APN for MMS messages with
APN type:mms
otherwise you won't be able to send mms when you are connected via WiFi.
Regards,
Dave
I should have seen that myself. Taking out the .co sorted it. Thanks everyone.
The second APN you're suggesting for MMS messaging, what settings should it contain?
Pretty much the same as the APN you already have, except that you populate the APN type.

No still haven't got it working. I can use 3g fine just not MMS
There is a free program on the android market called APN Backup & Restore. It would be nice if someone with working O2 MMS settings could back up the APN settings and put the file on here.

Hmm yeah these settings seem to have stopped working on my phone now .
After first entering them all the failed messages I had queued up started going through. But I just tried sending another one and am getting "Generic network failure" again.
It seems to sometimes send them OK and other times keep failing.
I just tried copying the settings over from my colleagues Dell Streak using APN Backup & Restore. Still not working properly. Those settings are working fine on the streak. I wonder if the problem could be somewhere else..
I am starting to wonder if this could be an issue with the o2 network itself?
Last night at around midnight I was able to send/receive a MMS with no problems both went through very quickly. This morning I try again and I jsut get "Generic Network Failure"
Guess I need to try on a WM build to verify whether is is o2 or an android issue.
I switched back to WM for a bit. Just tried it as you put the post and my MMS in WM works fine.

I tried this and did not recive anything. Also read on O2 forum that carrier does not support Nexus One, so they cant send you mms settings.

the main bug i have with android and o2 is that the apn setup loads too many apns by default. Its made more confusing because o2 is one of those networks that needs different settings for data and mms. some use combined servers and such.
When i flash android i get the following apns configured
giffgaff
o2 uk
o2 uk
o2 uk postpay mms
o2 uk prepay mms
tesco
giffgaff *
o2 mms postpay *
o2 mms prepay *
o2 uk mms *
the * ones are mms only apns, so dont have a radio toggle button on the right hand side.
The problem i think is that some accounts are set for data and mms, and others just for data, and some for just mms so i suspect they interfere. (my guess is the two 'o2 uk postpay mms' & 'o2 uk prepay mms' ones, because they are set to be used for data and mms, and ive tested them and they dont work... or the contract one doesnt anyway)
Im on O2 contract, and what i do is delete all apns except
the first 'O2 UK' (with the radio button, and username o2web)
and
'o2 MMS postpay' (without the radio button)
delete everything else, then reboot. mms settings sometimes dont seem to change till reboot, but data apn settings changes do seem to take immediately.
settings for 'o2 uk'
Name 'O2 UK' (anything)
APN 'mobile.o2.co.uk'
Proxy 'not set'
Port 'not set'
Username 'O2Web'
Password 'password'
Server 'not set'
MMSC 'not set'
MMS Proxy 'not set'
MMS Port 'not set'
MMC '234'
MNC '10'

then, a second APN, to handle the mms

APN 'wap.o2.co.uk'
Proxy 'not set'
Port 'not set'
Username 'O2wap'
Password 'password'

[Q] Unable to send MMS on AT&T network

I can receive MMS just fine. I can use the internet, market place, etc. However, If i try to send one, it will just stay in the sending phase forever. I even tried sending one to myself with no luck.
I am using hyperdroid1.7 and I cannot get this to work.
Anyone ? I've seen fixes for other networks but not one for at&t
SOLUTION:
make sure password is set to CINGULAR1, may require a soft reset after.
I have been using this rom Moto234_Evo_Carbon_Remix on my HD2 and after I set the AT&T MMS settings, I can send msgs, you need to double check your MMS settings under msgs, and you need to check your settings under connections.
