Now the question is when will they have it. I'm sitting on an Evo, waiting for the Galaxy release date while considering the iPhone 4G. Had the Droid X on my list but after seeing the Engadget demo today, I'm not liking it too much......

htc evo is much better then Samsung Galaxy S i9000. You are lucky if you are in USA so you can use 4g network on your phone.
I like to see one day 4g for Europe.

I have the Evo here in the Los Angeles area but no 4G here yet. The Evo is nice but I've had some issues with the build quality and so I'm no considering other phones like the Galaxy S, iPhone 4G or getting a replacement Evo once they are in stock again.

the samsung galaxy s is much better than the evo ( although the evo is still amazing) it has a 4 inch super amoled which is only slightly smaller than th 4.3 on the evo. it also has 8/16 gb built in storage alon with micro sd card. the hummingbird cpu is slightly faster than the snapdragon in the evo based on computing power, but the gpu in the hummingbird can push up to 90 million triangles while the snapdragon "only" does 22 i believe

also, sprint 4g is not true 4g, but wimax. verizon and att's upcoming lte is pontentially much faster. the max down speeds were getting here are 2 megabits per second

After spending the last few hours, all over the net, reading about all the currently known high end phones; I've made up my mind.
Talked to my local RadioShack GM, who is 100% sure that if I come in at opening on the 24th, I can pick up the iPhone on a new ATT contract. At the same time, I'll return my Evo with its raised screen and end my Sprint contract. While trying out the iPhone, I'll be waiting for the Galaxy S to be released on T-Mobile. Depending on how I get along with the iPhone, I'll have the option of going back to my T-Mobile contract that I had for my HD2, just before porting to Sprint for the Evo (T-Mobile says 90 days to come back with no termination fees). So by the end of July, I'm going to stick with one or the other.
Galaxy/Android:
Android is a slick and pretty good looking highly customizable OS with a bright future.
All Google apps and services are always going to be better and work better on Android.
Google voice search and speech to text features work very well. I loved driving and speaking a text message on my Evo for the first time.
The Galaxy is very slim, almost as slim at the current slimmest phone (iPhone 4G).
The 4" Super AOMLED screen keeps getting rave reviews in every regard and is reported to use 20 to 30% less power. Also being in the 4" zone makes for a better experience than smaller sized iPhone screen.
Bluetooth 3.0 is the future and offers many benefits; able to transfer data at up to 24Mbps, using Wi-Fi. Also it does not drain power while turned on and idle.
Superior GPU to that of the iPhone and most other current phones. Also the CPU has been tested and performs a bit faster than the Snapdragon and most likely faster than the iPhones under clocked CPU.
Talk time on the Galaxy is rated even higher than on the iPhone which is rated very high already.
16GB of built-in memory plus room for another 32GB via micro sd card leaves it ahead of the iPhone and most other phones.
Froyo 2.2 has been promised by Samsung to be released this year. Which in turn can only mean a faster and better running Galaxy.
Removable battery means you can most likely find cheap aftermarket batteries on eBay and never be without power.
Swype and all the other swiping keyboard apps are all available on Android and can bet set to be the default input method. Swype is the future and not having it, is a major downside for anyone who has given it a chance and really learned how to use it and all of its extra little features.
iPhone:
I've never been a fan of the iPhone and pretty much always hated most things about it (after buying a few of them to test out over a 2 year period). But here I am ready to give the iPhone 4G a try with an open mind. What I keep reading over and over about the iPhone is that apps just work. I can't tell you how many times I've read those words on different forums. I'm a young business owner and filmmaker and although I really love my etch toys, I think it's time for me to stop taking so much time out to geek out as I've done with my HD2 on WinMo and now with my Evo and Android. Getting things just the way you like is great but life is short and we all have other things we could be doing. I'm driving myself crazy trying to learn how to tweak Android as much as I was able to do with WinMo. I'm also going crazy trying apps that don't always work as they should. I guess this is where all the Apple fans claim that Apple shines and I sure do hope they are all right about this type of thing.
High res screen is mostly likely going to be very impressive even at a smaller screen size. Samsung says that compared to their Galaxy screen, the iPhones screen will be about 5% better looking (so it's safe to say at least 5%).
The app store has the most apps but that doesn't automatically mean that’s a good thing. But what is a good thing is that ListPro is coming to the iPhone. It's an app that people like me cannot live without. Also the best wallet apps are both on the iPhone (Spb Wallet and Illiumsoft eWallet) while Android is still waiting for a port. Then if you're a gamer, you can be sure it will be on the iPhone first and sometimes with more features. And just about all other apps are on the iPhone first or sooner rather than later. My fav navigation app is NDrive and their latest version 10 is available on all the platforms. But for some odd reason, text to speech (street names spoken) is not available for Android but is on the iPhone. I'm tired of seeing features and apps not being out on other platforms but with the iPhone, I guess you don't run into that problem as much.
Then again, the iPhone still has no Swype and the app it does have that’s like Swype; only works in its own notepad (so you have to copy and paste to email or sms).
No removable batteries but I did just find out about a pretty nice looking battery pack that is about the size of an iPhone, yet it has 400% the power of the iPhones battery. The pack connects via a cable and it has nearly a 5 star rating on Amazon from people claiming it has taken them 30 hours of use and then leaves the iPhone still fully charged. So I guess this will be my answer to no removable batteries.
I'm just going to assume that the music player feature of the iPhone will be as good as my iPod, which will be better than anything I've used so far on Android or WinMo. Also I happen to like iTunes and use it for my iPod.
I really don't want to become an Apple sheep boy and so I'm hoping that the galaxy will win me right back in and wow me even more than the Evo did that morning when I left the RadioShack parking lot.

Vry nice comparison ...

Hellooo? Don't forget about T-Mobile USA's recently launched HSPA+... You'll be waiting on LTE for quite a while. Realistically Sprint's "4G" is about as fast as HSPA+ but uploads speeds aren't nearly as fast on Sprint. Not to mention, Sprint's service is rolling out slower that T-Mobile's.

Keeping your Nexus, or getting an EVO (Supersonic)

Just a quick poll to see where everyone here is at. I'm probably going to give Sprint a year or so to expand their 4g (WiMax) coverage before committing to a new phone. I highly doubt (although I know I will be proved wrong) that the N1 will be on par with the newest (super)smartphones for quite some time.
I agree... Evo specs are nice, but not enough for me to jump ship..... n1 baby
I change my phones like I change my underwear, but I can see my beloved little nexus being with me for some considerable time.
not leaving Tmobile for Sprint.
After seeing the various update debacles with the phones currently out in the market..i think I'll stick to phones sold directly by Google. I feel bad for all the Droid owners.
I'm waiting on a tegra android phone...then ill make the jump!

im jumping as soon as it comes out i had tmobile then sprint then tmobile again. With sprint i had much better coverage than i do with tmobile.
I agree its not that big of jump because it only has minor upgrades: slightly improved processor (can be overclocked to 1.3ghz), better camera, dont care for the hdmi port, kickstand. Its the screen i want that screen soooo bad without windows mobile. Yes we do have amoled but the quality on the hd2 is still amazing and i assume it will be visible in the sun lol

Where'd you find this information? Isn't it the same processor as the N1?
Personally, I'm skeptical on the HDMI out, too. It wasn't until after I hooked up my laptop to my TV that I found out it's only video-out, not audio, which defeated a lot of the purpose for my use.
I am concerned the screen is too big. The N1 seems to fit snugly in my pockets, this one may be a little tighter of a fit -- although I haven't heard this complain about the HD2.
ALSO, I do think that t-mobile --> sprint is an upgrade. TMo 3g is good, when its good, but it isn't always good (make sense?). Some 3g areas i get 2500 down, 1500 up, some I get 800 down, and in most places I'm in 2g network. On the other hand, my girlfriend has a Pixi via Sprint and I almost never see hers out of an EV-DO network (3g for Sprint, I believe).
Next phone has to have 1.5 Ghz or dual , till then I will keep the SexyNexi!
It's very tempting but I think I'll stick with my N1 and T-mo for little while.
meh. it's big, ugly, and glossy. sprint sucks here too.
I'd stick to tmo. Only reason to change would be coverage issues for your area. As far as their new '4g' upgrades..check the following links.
jkontherun.com/2010/02/16/t-mobile-webconnect-rocket-review-21mbps/
intomobile.com/2010/03/24/4g-in-america-lies-lies-and-more-damn-lies.html
If they hold true it essentially means 4g is a lie (ITU has not ratified the standard). Comcast, Cleawire, and Sprint all advertise it like crazy on TV here in the mid-atlantic region. Very misleading if the speed tests and truth about the standard are correct. Also looks like (true to nature) they are crippling it right out of the gate. Sure, 4g 'spec' has potential and some of the APAC carriers who adopted a draft spec of it early have shown what it's capable of but the US carriers just cant ever seem to get it right.
My next phone will be Super AMOLED.
I can't see a reason to switch otherwise.
If for no other reason already mentioned, I'd hold off on the EVO until battery life has been tested. WiMAX means you need two radios functioning simultaneously, which would mean your battery would barely make it through half a day, in theory.
No reason to switch to sprint & evo now, the Nexus continues to rock!

That's pretty gross.
A friend of mine just got an HD2, and seeing that dimensions are similar ill pass, its too large and bulky for my taste as opposed to sleek and sexi, with that said ill stick to my n1 on another note its SPRINT..nuff said.

One more day left..

For my Sprint 30 day guarantee. Tomorrow is the last day I can return my Evo and walk away without a termination fee. Im coming from Tmobile and have used just about all their phones and all iphones, and the Evo holds its own. I love the screen size, and its build quality. But the main thing ive liked is the 3g coverage, its no where near as fast as Tmobile in my area, but i do alot of highway driving and get 1mb plus everywhere. With Tmobile once i started getting away from the city it would drop to edge. I guess ill go play with tmobiles new Mytouch 4g and make my decision there. I just sold the g2 i had which i hated, but I still own my Vibrant and iphone 4 so i could always go back.
But so far what I Like:
Screen size!!!!!
Build quality!
Dual Flash
3g Coverage
Development support.
What I dont like:
Super amoled looks wayy better.
3g is slower but still fine (Evo= 1mb+ to Vibrant=5mb downloads)
Graphics Suck. Live wallpaper slows it down, and 3d gaming is barely playable
Sprints Customer service is no where near as good as Tmobiles.
Oh yeah after a talk with sprints retention departmnet, They waived my actication fee, and provided me with a credit of $50 since I mentioned the Evo could be acquired online for $150, just in order to keep my service. And right at the end when I mentioned I would continue to think about it, the rep offered me a $10 credit every month for the rest of the contract (24months). This would kick in on my next billing cycle.
My 27% discount would also kick in next bill, making my total bill $50 plus tax which is still a little more than if id return to tmobile
Kinda hard to argue with those discounts, not a bad deal right there.
But I can't understand how you like AMOLED screens more, YUCK! They always look odd to me, too blue or too vibrant and kind of pixel-y? They are more readable in some situations but still I think they look awful.
Not gonna lie... i really like the new myTouch. I am a fan of sense... also, hspa+ rocks in my area, and gsm is easier on battery than cdma. Add to that our wimax radios... lol, still love my evo though...
Is say they earned your business, man that makes me think I need to complain more..lol
The ten dollars off every month would more then compensate for the cost of the phone its self.

After having the Evo I just dont see how i can ever own anything smaller than a 4.3in screen. Ill more than likely stick with The evo untill sprint or another carrier releases a highend 4.3in that isnt lock down. I do love the phone, just wished it could handle graphics better.
With the discounts im getting and the coolness of the Evo ill probably stick to Sprint for now unless the mytouch4g blows me away, which at 3.8in I dont think it will.
Now the Nexus S/2 could be interesting.
I was happy getting a 23% discount from --removed by mod--
I am also of the opinion that you have way too much time on your hands. For someone who is trying to drive their price down to nothing, you sure have a lot of the more recent phones, that you clearly could have sold to make up for any cost of having a phone in general.
While I am also a former T-mo customer, I gave them my money for 10 years, but honestly I don't think they are offering the best phones this year. As for plans, everyone I know can't touch my 4G speeds. As for customer service, I think Sprint has done a pretty good job with you.
If your just here to get attention, then I'd recommend moving on to the (Insert Next Best Phone Name) forum. The EVO on Sprint 4G clearly is the winner. If you don't have 4G then I can understand your dilemma, but still I highly doubt that you have a T-mo Talk/Text/Data for less than $50. Hell, its probably not less than $70 if your including insurance on your phones.
Good luck.

First off, nothing wrong with having all the latest and greatest phones out, it's by far the best way to find out which phone you personally like best. If I could afford it I'd do it too.
Second, evo is hardly the winner. All phones have their downfalls and can be considered better than others in their own right.
My nexus can be considered better than your evo for a number of reasons.
1. Google owns android. Nexus is google's baby. It is also a developers phone.when android releases froyo, gingerbread, etc. who is the first to get it? Me. Have fun waiting months for yours to update, or for some samsung owners, possibly never.
2. I'm hitting 60 fps, enjoy your 30 fps. You may have a bigger screen but can't fully enjoy it. Playing 3d games on the evo is atrocious.
3. Sprints 4g service had been highly touted this I know. But recent testing done by cnet, which I consider highly reliable and non bias; shows in NY sprints 4g getting 2-3mb whereas tmobiles hspa+ getting 5-6mb and it's not even considered true 4g lol but it doubled sprints. Now of course mileage will very.
Don't get me wrong, evo is a great phone. it's like having a portable theater in your pocket. It took me about three weeks of intense research comparing top phones on all carriers to reach a decision. I was hesitant to get the nexus considering how old it is, released in january. But it still using the same processor as many off the newer phones including evo, the 1ghz snapdragon. Yes your chip has been updated but mines still faster lol. And I like using a developer phone and getting updates before anyone else. Some may consider updates not that big of deal but froyo increased browser speed up to 30%, not something I'd want to wait months for to enjoy.
Oh and I have to say I love the trackball. Comes in handy for selecting text or other tight spots while browsing. I can also have it blink different colors: red for missed text, blue for missed call, green for voicemail, orange for email, purple for low battery, works for notifications as well.
It's nice having all this information without even turning on my phone.
This is officially by far the longest thing I've typed out on my nexus, got to love swype lol.
The nexus one is outdated. No matter what you say. Gingerbread is rumored to come out Nov 11 and its main feature is an integtrated video chat app. Nexi don't have a front facing camera. So right there goggles baby will be handicapped with that feature. I love the nexus a year ago when it came out but data speeds aren't nothing to brag about especially if its a matter of seconds. I think the mytouch 4G is ugly, it has to much bezeling on the side. A trackball is not needed when you have a big a$$ screen. And super amoled screens have been known to burn-in the screens. All the features there's no other phone that has what the evo can offer.
Front facing camera
Kickstand
Unlockable
Sense (which is the next best thing to vanilla)
4g capable
Capacitive buttons
Skinny
Sexy looking phone
Your making a rant in the evo section , in perfectly happy with my evo. Of all the phones I've owned this is by the far the best. With features and functionality in account.

Yes the nexus has been out since jan that's already been stated. Thanks for that bit of info. But it still has the same processor as the evo, though an older version. Yet it is still overclocked much faster than your evo.
Front facing camera, unlockable (lol did you really list that?), htc sense (lol? Anyone can flash that), 4g, skinny (hardly, compared to other smart phones it's quiet bulky, hence the pocket theater)... All these features can be found on many phones...front facing camera is over rated I can do without. How many video calls have you made in the past month?
Trackball great for alerts I don't even have to turn on my phone to get notifications.
With that being said, I'm glad you are happy with your evo, enjoy
I actually use the front facing camera a lot. I chat with other evo and iPhone 4 users. Given the ratio its pretty thin. And what's wrong with using the same processor. You want a better processor then go to Samsung galaxy s series. Good luck with the gps on there tho. Humming bird processor blows everyone out of the water. When I mean unlockable I mean the boot loader is not on lock down. And not everyone phone can flash sense, DX or D2 can't. Which are the newer phones comparable to the evo. You were seriously contemplating leaving Sprint to go with t-mobile cause of data speeds in a restricted area. Kinda of ironic cause the only thing that you sound to be proud of on the nexus is the processor speed. Processor speed don't mean **** if you don't got 3G or WiFi connection. Edge sucks on tmo and ill take Sprints 3G even tho I have the same processor as your sexi Nexi.
Scoobasteves: Evo is just as fps unlocked as nexus, that's old news.

Are you in a bad mood man? Geez.
First I never tried driving their price down, I called about possibly porting my number and what the process is. The rep was the one asking questions and was being cool about wanting me to stay. So he offered me a discount.
And yes it's cheaper for me to go back to tmobile even with my 27% sprint discount. We have had a family plan with tmobile for 8 years, so adding my line back would only be $5 and an additional $30 for Internet.
Maybe I do have to much time in my hands, but I've never complained about prices or tried to brag about my phone being the best. I understand there are always new phones coming out and thankfully I have had the ability to try out a lot of them. I just like phones and the evo is among the best I have liked, but far from being a clear cut winner. I'm not one of those guys that think my phone is the best in the world and out down every other phone, i like to try out a lot of different phones if I'm able to, and enjoy it.
I guess I'll just enjoy my Evo and it's awesome screen size.

I was not trying to badger the OP. As a matter of fact I am a former T-mo customer and was very happy with it.
Is the reason your plan a T-mo is cheaper because you are on a family plan there and not a family plan at Sprint? If thats the case then its apples to oranges.
To the Nexus Guy. It was a very good phone and I was seriously considering it when it finally became available on a plan rate. But that didn't happen till AFTER the Evo came out. I was on the phone with T-mo monthly to find out when that would happen. They could never give me an answer. So I took the plunge and got the EVO and never looked back.
T-mo's HSPA in my area is garbage. Seven guys I work (in Tampa) with have the Galaxy, and all of them claim 2-4Mbps. I get regularly 6.5Mbps. It may get better, but it isn't right now.
Processor? Seriously dude? if thats all you got with the Nexus, then you need to sit down. Developers phone? Seriously? Ever heard of Root? Oh yeah... all of T-mo's new phones are getting lock down. FPS? Spend more time on XDA preeze. Sprint unlocked it about 2 months ago. XDA did it even longer.
Nexus is a beautiful thing. But I am sorry, it is inferior to the EVO in about every possible way.

Need 2nd Android phone for wife recommendations on At&t?

Are you sure you want an entry level Android phone for her? AT&T doesn't have a particularly good selection of low-end Android devices, and of those available they would hardly compare for a person coming from an iPhone. The HTC Aria is just ridiculously underpowered, and all Motorola devices that I've used with Motoblur have been terrible.
I suggest the Samsung Captivate or the HTC Inspire. They're easy to use and you can pretty much guarantee she won't have anything to complain about in terms of speed and responsiveness.

I would recommend you stay away from the Captivate, it has a few hardware issues that Samsung is not addressing. I am on my sixth Captivate, and all have had issues, and have recently switched to a Nexus One that was given to me. I looked at the HTC Inspire yesterday, it is a pretty nice device. The Motorola Atrix also looks very promising.
If you're not aware, the Vibrant's radio, although a TMo phone, do work on AT&T 3G bands.
Just be careful if she's interested in any of Google's location-based services. I had (have, sitting on my desk now) a Vibrant for awhile and could never resolve the notorious GPS issue. I came back to the Nexus One because of it.

once Gingerbread supports dual core (maybe April?), Motorola has to push the update out.. my guess is this won't be timely.
For these reasons, there are going to be a LOT of pissed off people who cough up the money for this phone because its "dual core"
I made a post earlier about the atrix . Wasn't aware dual core isn't supported yet on froyo . I'm trying desperately to avoid another iphone (cough) but cannot buy anything through att with the fear of having my account screwed with and losing the unlimited data plans. Have to buy out of pocket and $500 is a bit high for a casual android user. Maybe a used N1 is the way to go.

I switched my wife's line from iPhone 3GS (unlimited data) to iPhone 4 to Windows Phone 7 and now to Android (N1) and still have the unlimited data (yes, I spoil her and she knows it ). If you previously had unlimited data you'll be grandfathered in and keep your unlimited data plan, unless you ask for a different tier for whatever reason. That's how it was explained to me, and I've switched her line a few times, and I just went from my N1 to an Inspire and still have the unlimited data plan from when I had my iPhone 3G a couple years ago.
With that being said, as I mentioned I just got the Inspire. I'm giving it a week to check it out and see if I like it. I love my N1, and it'll be hard to part with it as my main phone, but it'll stay nearby "just in case"! The Inspire seems pretty nice so far, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
I just set up the HTC Inspire 4G for a friend and it is a pretty good experience. Has a little ATT garbage on it that cannot be deleted (you can hide the icons) and also HTC Sense. Actually Sense is not too bad. It is a great price at $99 and just came out last Sunday.
PHIL
I know it is older and not supported by ATT or SE anymore but the Sony Ericsson X10 has been nothing but good to me. The guys over at X10 section here in XDA have some good things going on as far as development goes. 1ghz snapdragon, 8 mp camera, 720p video with flash, 4 inch screen.
I ran it for a while until I gave it to my wife when I got my N1. They are finishing up the 2.3 build and it is all being done with out even cracking the bootloader.
I've got a mint condition att n1 for sale in the marketplace. I highly recommend it!

check out this thread...they are saying that dual core support is there, just not for single threaded apps. So really we are waiting on developers to support multiple cores in their apps, but the os already does.
I'd say htc inspire is a good one to pick. Price of a midrange but runs like a high end. Plus htc sense is pretty useful for women in my opinion. And if you wanna change to a different rom later on, it won't be hard cuz htc is fine with customizations.

Get an HTC Inspire. It rocks I got it on launch day and previously had a Nexus One
For the price you simply can't beat the Inspire 4G, got mine at Costco for 79.99...
I replaced my N1 with this phone and I love it..
HTC Inspire 4G the best choice
I would hang tough a few weeks and see what happens with the atrix. Depending on whether they get root and so on that would probably be the handset to have as it will probably have the longest legs of the bunch depending on how quickly multi core support arrives.

agree.. which raises the next point that the apps to take advantage will be games, as the computational requirements for a general purpose cell phone app tends to be minimal, the bottlenecks mostly lying in the cellular connection speeds. for instance, LevelUp can add dual core support all they want, but checking Twitter with Plume just isn't all that needy, hardware wise.
from a specs standpoint, the Atrix is interesting but is basically an expensive, closed gimmick.
dual-core is an important step to push the platform & apps but we are a LONG way from a practical benefit to end users (unless you play games)
I think the main hardware aspect of the atrix that would make me lean to it is the front facing camera. If that phone can be rooted it may be my next device.

Looks like I'll be buggering off to the SGIII.

I was planning on using my upgrade (in July) to move to the Evo LTE, then HTC announced the non-removable battery. Since the SG3 is basically a wash on specs with the Evo LTE, but has a removable battery, I am going to end up using my upgrade to switch camps.
I just wanted to say thanks to all the devs who put in so much work on the beloved Evo OG. You guys really made this phone great and I know you don't get enough thanks or credit, just more demands from us.
Anyway, good luck to those of you who stick with HTC for the next two year merry-go-round.
yeah, i'm kinda pissed about the battery thing, too. any word on when sprint gets the s3? This is the latest i've seen, but no dates given: http://easternmorningherald.com/sprint-carry-samsung-galaxy-s3/126251/
wash in specs??
i think its spec wise its pretty damn in line with the evo lte. dual core, big ol camera, nice screen, ics, . (btw not a flame just trying to understand because i think the evo lte is def on the top of the android pile for the time being of course )

Is having a removable battery that much more important than the million times better development support the LTE will get?

I agree with the battery thing, I feel like its taking away my independence that I have right now with the OG. I take comfort in knowing I can bring along a spare battery or 2 on day trip where I'll be away from a power supply. I'm still weighing my options, right now that's the only turn off with the LTE. We'll see, I'm not in a rush.

You know you can buy rechargeable charge cells, and if your battery dies, you can pull it outta your pocket and plug it in your phone for a fast fix.
Also, so far, people are reporting pretty damn good battery life on the lte

That won't solve the problem of the battery losing charge capacity over time. the way that I use my phone, my batteries lose about 50% of their charge capacity by one year. So I've already replaced two batteries on my Evo OG (most recently in December with another 3500mah Seido brick battery). Being unable to replace a battery means that over that stupid 2 year contract, I will get less and less use time from my phone, and more time on the charger.
So, yes, not having a removable (replaceable really) battery is a really big deal for me. I was also going to miss the kickstand, but I since learned that most case manufacturers have cases with kickstands build in.
The biggest unknown for me is how good the SG devs are. From what I've seen in the SGSIII subforum, it looks promising.
I have two reservations about the LTE:
1) I got the OG with hopes of using Sprint's 4G network. Turns out, it wasn't yet available in my area when I got the phone, but they promised it would be soon. Now that Sprint has abandoned WiMax, I can only use 4G when I go downtown. Who is to say that the same scam won't happen with LTE? What if Sprint jumps ship the second another new technology comes along?
2) The battery IS a big issue for me as well. As a chronic ROM flasher, what am I supposed to do when I experience the inevitable crash or freeze that requires a battery pull to restart the phone? Am I really supposed to just wait for the battery to die before I can get on my phone again? No, thanks.
So.. yeah the battery thing is REALLY an issue.. I just found out about that reading this thread..
Any who.. can't I just stick w my evo now n wait for someone to mess w a ROM that picks up 4g lte?? I don't know how all this junk works.. NOOB.. but I had a HTC hd2 which I THINK was only 3g.. flashed an android ROM n was able to pick up 4g on it.. then flashed an ICS ROM on it, 4g n other cool junk..
I'm pretty happy w my evo now.. so I'm just playing the waiting game until someone pushes out a FULL working ICS ROM.. I'm on sprint now so 4g is so much better than T-Mobile.. I guess ill deal w the lte issue when I really have to..
Anyone care to enlighten me some more??

Well to answer your second question, when you go into a loop like i did Saturday (installed the recovery incorrectly) you just hold the the power button and it will power down and i was able to get back to fastboot to reinstall it.

Development on this device should be second to none.
I was going to get one of these phones but since LTE is not coming out for a while I decided to pickup a slightly used Epic Touch 4G so that I can still have the Wimax speeds and wait until LTE is rolled out in my area to pickup an LTE phone. By then there may be other phones out or at least more used ones available for sale. By then I will also be able to view forum posts and see development progess on both of these phones before I purchase.

Considering switch to AT&T and the note, opinions?

I have had the Evo 4g since launch, and it has been an amazing phone. I have loved it even more since I rooted it and every new rom I try. But my girlfriend seems to be in love with the note, and I have to admit, that big a$$ screen is kind of nice. I'm just not sure that I would put it to its fullest use for very long, liek using the stylus and stuff. And by the looks fo the forums for the Note, there are only a couple roms for it. Not saying I need to have as many roms available as I have had with my 4g, but it would be a plus.
I guess I am wondering if I should consider the note, or if the galaxy s3 might fit the bill better. Or should I stick with sprint and grab and Evo LTE?
I'm not asking you to make up my mind for me, I need to play with the phones and do that myself. Just wondering if anybody has any opinions or advice?

I've been considering jumping ship to ATT as well lately, never had a problem w/ Sprint's speeds but they've been deteriorating rapidly where I live. If you do decide to move, why not the HTC One X?

This is a good point. Why not stick with that HTC goodness? lol
Seriously, though, I do admit that the Note is impressive, both in size and performance. While not too much more impressive than the rest of the Galaxy SII series (especially the Skyrocket), the screen size is instantly what gets people's attention. I've tested the Note, and I do like its appearance and style...but damn, that One X is sexy
I don't know, it's up to you on this one. The Note isn't too much more expensive than the One X, and Samsung's UI is easy to get used to. You get a nice phone either way.
HTC EVO 4G LTE pretty much is the one x + the SD card, kick stand and removeable battery haha..the note..ehhh,I'd just get the s3 for sprint...can't mess with unlimited data plans..perfect for root + free wifi tether/hot spot....wireless network speeds don't really effect me,as along as I can make a phone call b do basic browsing...there's usually a wifi connection for downloads n updates nowadays

I wanted something different. Nothign against HTC, I loved my evo. And truth be told I may prefer sense to touchwiz. But we, my girlfriend and I picked up a couple notes. The screen size is amazing, no complaints there. Battery life the past couple days has been in the 10-12 hour range, which seems a little low to me since it was with less then moderate use. But then again I am comparing to my rooted evo running decks reloaded and mason SBC which would last forever, lol.
I was hoping to be more wowed by the note like I was when I got my evo. But I think the jump from a blackberry curve to the evo was a bit more of a wow move then what moving fromt he evo to the note is. The note is a great phone, and my girlfriend loves it. I need to really get my hands dirty with it and see what it can do, but I am keeping my options open.

That's expected; jumping from one OS to the other is way different than just switching phone manufacturers. Android to Android isn't that amazing; Android to iOS (or, preferably the other way around ) is.
Either way, seems you're warming up to your phone nicely. Always good to hear that. If you stick with it, great. If not, I would recommend the One X should this phone disappoint down the road. You have some time to test drive it, so get what you can out of it before making that final decision.

I would make the decision based on; what 3G speeds you get now, if where you live will get Sprint's LTE soon, and if you already have Wimax coverage.
So I guess I'm saying it kind of depends.

I am in columbus OH, I have 4G on both att and sprint and i imagine ATT and sprint will both have LTE here by the end of the year.
I haven't read up much on the HTC One X or the Samsung Galaxy SIII, but one thing iI loved about the evo was how easy it was to root/flash and not brickbrick the thing. Looking at the note forums, I see a lot of posts about bricked phones. Granted I haven't read all the details, but it seems rooting/flashing is less safe on the note, which kind of sucks. Are the One X or SIII any easier to root/flash?
Just realized I was viewing the international note forums. The art note forums seem a little more user friendly

Well, if I knew for sure about LTE coming to my area within a year on Sprint, I would stay with Sprint. Personally I would get a Wimax device OFF contact (Epic Touch is Sprint's best Wimax device), and wait til the end of the year to see if LTE will actually come. Then make my decision. If you are completely done with Sprint though, just jump ship now. No reason to wait.
