Where on my SD card do I install copilot maps - Desire Themes and Apps

I purchased a copilot license for my HTC HD2 (windows mobile). However, a few months later I purchased a HTC Desire (android) and deactivated the license on my HD2. I've now got Copilot installed and activated (using my windows mobile product key) on the Desire but the only problem is I cant get the maps installed. It wont allow me to install it via wifi or 3g, so I'm trying to copy the maps directly to the memory card instead.
When I contacted ALK technologies for help this was their reply:
"Dear shaliru,
Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.
In first place, Copilot has been designed to work and be transferred only in between same platform, it van only be transferred from WinMobile to WinMobile or Android to Android.
With regards to your query we inform you that the HTC Desire has all the required specification to work with CoPilot 8 but it hasn't been tested by our technical engineer and therefore we cannot guaranteed the full compatibility. Once we can guarantee its full compatibility we will update our compatibility list at http://www.alk.eu.com/copilot/compatibility.asp
If you have any further questions, or feel that this incident has not been resolved to your satisfaction, please do not hesitate to bring this to our attention.
Regards,
CoPilot Technical Support
http://support.alk.com"
I think this is bullsh*t because I paid for the product and its not like I'm selling on the subscription with my HD2. I simply want to move it over to another device which I know they support.
Like I mentioned above the application is installed and activated on my Desire, but i just need a way to get the maps on there. I.e, the correct directory to copy them to on my memory card
Thanks in advance

install maps
on your SD card create a folder called copilot and then another called save within there, copy the maps into this folder and when you run copilot it should extract the maps and install them
I had a problem installing the maps and this fixed it, hope it helps too
I now have bought copilot for iphone, Win Mobile & android !!!!!

Thanks for your help.
Does the android version use the same map type as the windows mobile version. For example can i simply copy the maps I had on the windows mobile sd card over to the android sd card?
And when you say copy the maps into the folder called 'save', do you mean put the UK Ireland folder in the save folder, or do you mean put the contents of the UK Ireland in the save folder. The UK Ireland folder has five other folders in it (cities, data, places, polygons and save).
Below is a list of the files and folders in the archive I'm working with:

Why? It's essentially a different product as its on a different platform.
When you buy a game for your PC, do you expect to get a free copy of the XBOX 360 or PS3 version as well?

No. But...
if I buy an xbox 360 game and later decide I want the PS3 version, I'll sell the xbox version and use the money to get the PS3 version - unless I specifically want both versions. In my case I have no need for both versions because I no longer use the device. Unfortunately there is no way for me to sell on my license (which I only had for 2 months anyway) and buy a new one.
The copilot software is freely available on their website, however without a valid license the product is pretty much useless. It was the license I paid for so I don't see anything wrong with me transferring that license to a new device (as long as I'm not using both). If I was that desperate to cheat ALK out of their license fee I would have obtained the product in one of many other alternative not-so-legit ways.
Anyway, what's done is done. Its all sorted now and I'm a happy customer, thanks to the many helpful contributors on this forum.

I'm glad it's working for you, but your license IS transferrable, to another Windows Mobile device. Android is a completely different platform, and has a different license. It may not SOUND fair, but really... How would they make money if they let people transfer across platforms? Creating a version for Android involves a lot of extra costs, you know; those costs have to be paid for.
At least CoPilot is cheap... Unlike those crooks at TomTom.

There is no NEW development to be paid for, no new platform has to be produced after initial coding for all the various operating systems, so it isn't quite like a comparison between PC and XBox, where there are considerations such as hardware variables etc. to be coded for. The guy has already paid for the latest version, CoPilot 8, and it isn't unreasonable that he gets the Android operating system either free or subsidised. At least he paid for it rather than using a pirate copy, and his action in buying it in the first place shows he was intending to invest in the system.
CoPilot agree with me as well - I had exactly the same issue, and I emailed support, who very kindly directed me to a download area for map and OS for Android. That was when only the map of Europe was available on Android, and I had purchased only UK+Ireland map, so there was a £40 difference in price to me.

This Worked for me
Hi, If you are having problems try this.
1 De-authorise copilot on your existing phone (HTC Blackstone) used for this.
**Dont have Android phone connected to a pc at this stage**
2 Download the installation file from the http://***.alk.eu.com/copilotlive/androidinstall/ site to your Desktop. (hope that sort of link is ok).
**Connect the phone as HTC Sync**
3 Install the app using the HTC Sync program after going into the following location on the phone, Settings, Applications, Unknown sources (click on allow) you can reset this afterwards.
**Un Plug the Phone**
4 Run the program, it will go throught the setup and at the end say that there are no maps. Complete the setup then close the program down.
5 Open CoPilot Central on the pc it will say no device. NOW connect you phone as a Disk Drive. It will then be detected and you can then install the maps Or download them if you dont have them on your system.
6 Enjoy.
On a small chance that there are no voices shown, copy them from your old sd card install folder (copilot, speach,(whatever ones you want)).
This took longer to post than Do.

on a side note any one buy the Traffic Live product at £20 a year.
Just wondering if it is worth the money?

Developing Apps for WM2003SE Phone Edition

Hi everybody,
I'm a newbie and ask therefore a newbie question! What do I precisely need from M$ to develop applications for my Magician and similars?
My list is:
1)eVC 4.0 (latest SP)
2)WM2003SE SDK (for Smartphones or for PocketPC??)
am I right here? where is the simulator?
Thanks
you're right
and the sim is inside Vc
SDK for PPC; smartphones is only for smartphones!
If you can get it, "MSDN" is also useful to install, but it's all available online easily enough.

Is anyway I can read the Doc file or go Chinese website and read the Chinese contexts?

Or there is a program you can buy called "CE Star" which has many input methods, including handwriting recognization.
I am now using MONSTER Chinese
Try searching on the Trends mobile website for a chinese reading software which is free. Note that it does not include a chinese input method (It does but requires an internet connection). The address is www.trendsmobile.com

I suggest you check out this thread and then modifies/removes your post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290261
You will get a warning (if this is the first time) or you will get banned if it isn't.
why doesnt someone delete this thread? its only going to attract aggro/flaming etc.
ähm...just a question: are maps already included in iGo ??
There´s a thread here in Polaris forum with TomTom CAB, and you do need maps. But maybe he just lost the installer (like me with TomTom) and is in search of the original CAB (cause he has maps already on his SD-card ?)
regards,
Martin
He's also asking for DE AT CH and Western Europe Map if possible. So no, I don't think he just "lost" his CD. If he did he'd be able to get a new from iGo quoting his serial number and name.

Another Tomtom question

Hello,
I've installed Tomtom 7 7.450.9028 on my HD and purchased 8.15 France map on their website but I can't manage to download the map on my device.
When using Home 2.5, I get the following message :

Home 1.5 regonizes my Touch HD but doesn't show the map I bought when I select "Download your updates" or "Install on your device"
Where did I go wrong ?
Thanks for your help
Maybe it's because the 7.x is not in the official sales channels...
So tomtom home knows about this
Well, they didn't seem to mind when I made the payment =)
You paid for the maps, not for the software right?
I get your point.
However, I have here on my desk the TT6 I bought only 5 months ago , sitting beside my TT5, + another 50 euros spent today for 8.15 France map.
Guess I will have to go on the dark side from now on =)
Help if you can ortherwise, don't reply.
Hello rahan95,
I am not too sure that this procedure will work for you but if you have not done so, please proceed as follows:
- Search Tomtom Navigator version 7.910.9185, earlier will not work with your new map
- Install this version of TT on your device
- Launch and download the free map for your region
- Obtain the Tomtom code by checking the about
- Regiter this device ID (HD'S) within Tomtom
- If you have another device or Tomtom use it
- Serach the map by name on your computer (compressed) - a subfolder within My Documents I beleive) and manually decompress it and install it
Bonne chance!
Hello Carola,
Thanks for your reply ! I have my device ID already but I don't understand when you say : " Regiter this device ID (HD'S) within Tomtom"
Where is that option ? TT account ? TThome ?
Thank you
Use TT Myaccount
Sorry, I meant to say to register the device within your tomtom account, yes. So, once you log onto your account, depending when was the last time you changed your Device ID, you can do it yourself; otherwise, just contact TT and they will do this for you.
I guees I'm really dumb but I can't find this option in my account =(
I just cannot find any more; I did contact Tomtom and they changed, but then I found it myself, but strangely, I cannot find it anymore. Below is the original request I received:
"Your reference for your query is 080624
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
Your request to change your Device Code on your TomTom account to XXXXX XXXXX has been approved.
You can continue to use your PLUS Services on your new device.
If you have any queries on how to install your PLUS Services onto your TomTom, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to assist you.
With Best Regards
The TomTom Customer Support Team
Response (Nick M. (UK)) "
Please check it; if I found it, I will let you know.
I do remember this option was there a few months ago for I used it. Guess they took it away.
Thanks for your help, but I'm giving up for now. Going to see what the outside world looks like =)
