Do the HD2 tabs transition like this commercial? - HD2 General

I was looking at this t-mobile HD2 commercial and noticed that the tab transition from the contacts tab to the home tab was very much like the senseUI transition on android devices. It's smooth and doesn't just instantaneously jump. Is this real, or is it just a gimmick? Because mines obviously doesn't transition like that at all.

Of course its not going to be like the commercial, nothing ever is.

I wish it looked like that
Short of looking great it does do that though. Swiping to the right will take you to the panel to the left and vice versa.

So are you guys telling me that this transisiont we see is not real for sense 2.5 2 on WM6.5?

In the commercial it is written "SCREEN SEQUENCE COMPRESSED AND SIMULATED" so ... !!!

Yeah, transition is ... probably... fake !

Like mabold said, the screen is simulated on the commercial but in real life, it's much faster to the point where you dont see the scrolling animation at all (which I prefer).

No, it doesn't do that. It never has done that and never will. Also, it's not "much faster to the point where you dont see the scrolling animation". It just doesn't do it.

Does anyone else miss the old Rosie.apk?

I haven't really seen much mentioned about it, so maybe I'm more bothered by it than you guys, but the newest Hero leak's rosie is missing the ability to grab the thing at the bottom and quickly flip through all the screens. Seems kinda ironic to start calling it TouchFLO after you take out the part that makes it touch flow!
To me, that's one of the things that made it so sweet. With out it, its just another 7 screen home (minus the fact that you get the widgets with it and all). Using 6 swipes to flip through your home is annoying as hell.
But that aside, it still is (for the most part) the same speed as the beta version (when ported to the G1, that is), and still has no landscape mode. Taking those in to consideration, you basically have the same thing, but with one less feature.
HTC you f'ed up.
Sorry, I needed to rant.
I also find my self missing that feature.
Oh well, you can't have everything.
lol only thing I miss is the reliability of all other ROM's not Rosie related....
I think JACHero 2.3.3 is the best ROM which is out atm.
Rosie is useable, and really, I never used this thing at the bottom, it was too fast.
I only use 3 of the 7 hoemscreen:
The middle one for icons and 2 toogles.
Middle-left for WeatherWidget
Middle-right for Bookmarks widget.
That's all. And with this configuration, Rosie works really fluently.

question

hi
anybody know why the nexus one touch is not so smooth lke the iphone?
It is smooth.
Next...
No! Iphone much smoother and N1got better hardware
It's smoother than an iPhone.
Next.
Must admit, I don't really understand the question, however there is nothing unsmooth about mine.
Its real smooth...
Next... LOL
it gose like 10 frames per second and iphone is more like 40 frames per second...
Mine seems faster & smoother than the iphone!
Mines also much smoother and faster, we were doing side by side comparisons at work today.
can you give me link to the rom you use?
mine is also faster but not smoother..
Thats neat.
Iphone is plain Wack and boring!
and not as smooth as i have a 2g a 3g and a 3gs belonging to different family members that live with me and ive played with it and it sucks. mine is so much smoother and they all envy me. now what???

The point is that this is the most retarded thread in the universe.
A) How "smooth" something is, is 100% subjective. To ask someone ELSE why it's not "as smooth" is utterly retarded.
B) Without even giving ***ANY*** sort of specific area or feature (app? homescreen? ???) the question becomes even MORE fail.
Seriously, some people do not belong on the internet.
I agree with the OP. Switch between home screens on the nexus and the iphone. On the iphone, the animation is much smoother, even though the processor is a lot slower. Basically, this applies to all of the graphical animations. It's pretty disappointing, IMO.
its not smooth (not close even) like the iphone in the browser, when you scroll the apps, and everywhere else...
it is much more nice to "play" with the iphone... i have nexus one and my friend got iphone and we see the defrence between our two devices... mine open faster the apps and everything else but like i said, the iphone touch expirince is much smoother...

First, +1 on the above post.
Second, wtf kind of phone are you people using? There is nothing that's not smooth. I've never seen anything so quick and responsive. Maybe you have 4k apps installed that are all hanging out in the RAM?
Perfect example, when you get a new sms, you pull down the notification and click the message. Before the notification bar has time to return to the top the message is up and waiting.
So please expand on "not as smooth as the iTool" because it seems more like PEBKAC to me.
I work at AT&T and every Tool there has an iPhone. They hate that my phone is faster, more responsive and "smoother" than theirs.

That's just a task manager. There's a skinable one for WM whose name I can't remember right now, but it's been discussed on this forum recently. Since it's skinable, you can make it look however you wish.
but
I look at mobile reviw thats part of new sense for android
The new version of HTC Sense features several nice touches - a more detailed screen with contact's personal information and his activities, plus the new Sense's main attraction, new screen transition system.
I don't know how it's implemented on Windows Mobile phones yet, but on Android it works like this. What you are at the home screen, pressing the Home button calls the Screen menu allowing you to pick the one you need, which is pretty convenient, but there is one flaw to it. The phones that were featured at HTC's MWC booth made that window pop-up only when we pressed the button while staring at the Home screen. If we happened to be looking at Music, Weather or any other section of the phone, punching the Home key got us back to the Home Screen and that was it. I feel like this feature must work in any place around the UI, and I hope that it will.

Android home screens are customizable and can only be switched one by one which is why the helicopter view might be more important. You can fly with the slider bar on WM Sense so it makes it less useful - plus it'll be difficult to get all our tabs in that Expose-esque view

Actually that's not a task manager, thats the new pinch to zoom homescreen that zooms out to let you select the home screen. It's called leap, see demonstration here

But that's such a massive downgrade.
Lose 0.6" off your screen size, lose WinMo6.5.3 (which is better than Android imo), and lose your NA 3G coverage (assuming you're rocking a T9193).
I will say that at least HTC finally smartened up and started putting flashes in their phones. My buddy has an HTC Hero and the only complaint he has about it is no flash.
To be honest, I ordered one and will sell my HD2. I lose 0.6" screen size and one camera LED, but I gain Android.
Since I'm in Europe, I don't lose 3G.
I've used Android on an old Samsung phone for some time, and I discovered that I simply enjoy using it.
Despite that this phone is awfully slow and has a very small 3.2" screen, I find the experience to be much better than the one I have with my HD2.
Thus, I'm getting a Desire.
(I'd buy a Samsung Galaxy S with 4" screen, but I want at least one LED for the camera: http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/23/samsung-announces-galaxy-s-android-smartphone/)

Same thing.
Taskfacade has nothing to do with that... except that it looks similar, but totally different functionality.

Something annoying about HTC Sense..

So i've been watching videos of both stock android (Nexus one, G2) and videos of the Desire HD rom with Sense on other devices. Something that's become quite apparent in the sense rom is that HTC decided to strip a lot of the nice animations that make stock android pleasing to the eye.
Examples include, when you open and app you get a zoom in effect, and when u close it u get a zoom out. Also when the keyboard pops up it sort of slides from the bottom. Another is when you open the app tray, the icons fly in.
But on sense there's no animations. Everything just appears instantly. That really is sort of putting me off Sense, and that's a big disappointment considering i like the look of HTC's widgets.
Has anybody else noticed this? What do you think of it?
Agree to disagree...
...
Must say, you are right, but aren't the guys from Cyanogen Mod going to do something about that?!
CyanogenModders only work with stock Android, so whatever magic dust they decide to sprinkle on the DHD, it will not have Sense in the mix
Next week is looming large... Im gonna take a day off work to show my new baby some love when it arrives)))
I had a nexus and the zoom's are really nothing to write home about

Im sorry to say but you are wrong. If you go to the display settings and under animations set it to 'All' you will get keyboard sliding animations, screen transition animations, the only thing you dont get is a 3D effect with the app draw, but it does slid nicely into view from the bottom and is just more professional. However as mentioned previously its android, customise! Add all the animations you want!!

could u tell me what all the options are? thanks
The Desire HD Sense has a fade in/out effect by default for both Sense tabs and applications unlike older Sense versions ... its actually very pleasing and runs smoothly on HD2 so definitely will be awesome on the actual HD
Animations are nice eyecandy, but everytime they play you have to wait till they are finished. After some time they'll only anoy me. I am happy with as few animations as possible, so I turned them off. Just my humble opinion.

Snapyness or slugishness

I am aware there are many posts about slugishness of the Tab 10.1, especially when changing desktops or pages in the apps drawer. But, today I have accidently touched edge of the screen and realized that I can change desktops that way. And you now what, there is no slugishness at all. It's fast and snappy as it should be. Same thing aplies to apps drawer.
Have you guys spotted this before, and do you have explanation of what is going on? I'm not programmer but it seems to me that sweep over the touch clobbers the system. Any thoughts?
I didn't know that and you're right, it's much quicker and smoother.
Good find.

It's faster because there is no "transition" animation...it simply destroys the current screen and redraws the one you tap to, rather than drawing both and calculating perspective angles as you move from one to the other with a normal swipe. It's doing something like less than half the work to tap to an adjacent screen.
I was thinking the same but there is somekind of animation. Because it is so fast it is hard to say with naked eye if it is different. It doesn't seem to me like destroy and redraw...
So the problem is in the launcher?
