I'm suddenly unable to connect to my Hero via the command line! - Hero CDMA General

I don't know if this is related to Fresh 2.0b or not, but it just started today. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. When I go to connect like I normally would (though CMD at C:/android_sdk/tools) I get no devices found when I give "adb devices." I've made sure my Hero is in "HTC Sync" mode, but it still isn't recognizing it. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling HTC Sync, but I get the following error when trying to uninstall HTC Drivers:

I also get it when trying to reinstall HTC Sync, even though it tells me installation was successful. I can connect when in recovery mode, but you can't really do anything then. Any ideas?

are you using the latest version of HTC sync from their website?

Don't uninstall the HTC Drivers, you need that. Just uninstall HTC Sync.
Also, make you have the latest HTC Sync software for the Hero dated from January. It contains the latest drivers.

Can you confirm that USB Debugging is still enabled?
Settings->Applications->Development->USB Debugging
Seems some people may have had it disabled when they updated to fresh 2.0b?

you don't need htc ync either... just update your SDK. At worst you will need to update the android_winusb.inf file by adding
Code:
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C9A&REV_0100&MI_01
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C9A&MI_01
in both the Google.NTx86 and Google.NTamd64 sections

I had trouble with that too on win7 64-bit lifehacker had the drivers that got it all working agian

just reboot your phone i take it you haven't done that since you flashed fresh 2.0b, once you reboot with usb plugged in it will say usb debugging connected

my phone freezes everytime i connect it to my pc, anyone know how to fix this?

same problem, same ROM.
i re-downloaded the sdk. re-installed HTC sync.
command prompt tells me "error: device not found".
i have re-booted my phone (several times since flashing the ROM).
i have it connected in sync mode with usb debugging ENABLED (phone states its connected.)
i can, however, adb into my phone if its in recovery...

This was happening to me, same rom and everything. I just went to the link below, and re installed the ADB drivers.

can we get someone who found the new sync to post a direct link for it thanks cause i keep getting the november/december one

can you please post a link to where you got the drivers I went to life hacker but couldnt find em

get and install the htc sync from htc's eris support page. It has the latest drivers. Voila, fixed.

I got it working using the drivers found here:
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/08/24/workaround-for-htc-hero-sync-problem-in-windows-7/
I've also had zero problems using the new Damageless ROM.

Exact link I posted lol

I went to the global HTC site, and downloaded the latest HTC Sync
http://www.htc.com/www/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=283&act=sd&cat=all
uninstalled the HTC Sync and drivers I already had, installed the one I got from above, bam. Works perfectt.

I cant find this in the search so I figured here would be best to ask, I rooted my hero via Windows vista when it could automatically connect to HTC sync.. Since then I downgraded back to XP cause my sound card wasnt compatiable..
How the hell do I get adb working with my Hero, cause I sure cant connect to HTC sync anymore.. any help or links to the right thread would be much appreciated.

I tried it and it will disable ADB commands from dos...
I Just used it, sync and uninstall
I have htc sync the application installed on my pc. How do I install the phone element onto my Magic? I have root but the Google rom that the phone shipped with; do I need to move to the v6 rom, or is there any other way?
Thanks for the links, but this is a Stupid program.. really.
I couldn't believe that in one point of the installation I saw something like "PC suite"..
No one can even say this HTC Sync and PC suite in the same sentence without lying.
Nokia PC suite is a real PC Suite, this is rubbish.

I've been watching thousand of forum and sites and I didn't think to the most stupid thing. Please, don't be offensive!
Even if i've the Roger Firmware, maybe there is something locked in the hardware that let the HTC Sync didn't recognize the phone. If htc doesn't realize somehthing to sync a 450 euro phone with the pc, i'll sell it on the bay and never by an htc again.

[Q] Windows 7 Driver Problems

Hi guys,
I have literally tried everything I could find here. I have tried the Universal drivers, the PDAnet drivers, and the Google drivers, and I have used an installer as well as manually installed the drivers. For the universal and Google drivers, I can get the phone to be recognized by Windows 7 as a Nexus 4, and Windows says the drivers are configured properly. However, the phone doesn't mount and ADB/fastboot still don't connect (and yes, the phone is in USB debugging mode).
After every failed driver I uninstalled the device, removed the Google drivers from USBdeview, and reinstalled the next set of drivers, to no avail. The computer has been restarted many times, no luck. I have tried all three USB ports on my laptop, and I have tried multiple cords, one of which I know for sure works.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
EDIT: If you want, I can add a screenshot of my USBDeview entries to see if there are any conflicting drivers/interfaces. My old phone was a Samsung Galaxy S, but I removed as many of those drivers as I could find.
Silly question, but when attempting fastboot, you did reboot into the bootloader? If you use twrp, they have an adb push setting in the advanced tab(?), see if that's recognized at all?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I couldn't use adb or fastboot at all. No adb when the phone is on, no fastboot in the boot loader. I don't have a custom recovery because I can't flash one without fastboot.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I'm also on 64-bit Windows 7, I forgot to mention that. Just tried the Universal Naked Drivers, to no avail.
Did you update adb to the latest version (v1.0.31)? If not, adb won't see the phone

Thanks for the reply. I've been trying to use Minimal ADB and Fastboot so far, since I really don't want to download the SDK. However, I've also tried to use the newest versions of Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit and mskip's toolkit, both of which do not work.
My Windows 7 Pro x64 work PC can see it as can my personal Windows 8 Pro x64 laptop at home - both using the stock Google drivers from the SDK
Remember, also, that when you run 'adb devices' the phone will ask you to allow the PC to connect. If you don't click OK on the phone it will say it's offline

The window never pops up on the phone. ADB list of devices comes up blank. I'll try the SDK later.
Using the SDK and the newest ADB did not help, still the same problem. I'm out of ideas.
EDIT: Attached are two screenshots of the USBDeview program after I've uninstalled all the Google and Android drivers. Is there anything there that looks like it needs to be uninstalled?

[HELP] My Nexus 4 is no longer recognized

Hello, since the update to android 4.3 my Nexus 4 is no longer recognized by my Windows 7/8 computers.
I have tried many drivers and software NRT, I also formatted several times.
I've used both connections (MTP and PTP) and USB debugging mode.
Several micro usb cables
Now I know what to do and the problem is that the phone to bootloader unlocked so I do not know if Google agree to exchange it for free.
Desolated if I make mistakes but English is not my native language
Thank you in advance
I don't think you need to exchange it and Google should exchange it even if the bootloader is unlocked, provided you factory reset it I guess. And to re-lock the bootloader you just have to boot it into fastboot mode and type in the command line: fastboot oem lock
(Just follow this guide to return the phone to stock if you need: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312)
As for recognizing the device, maybe the MTP driver become unrecognized or conflicted, check in the Device Manager of your computer it should be called "Nexus 4" under Portable Devices. If it's not, right click on it and uninstall it. Then reconnect the phone and let it reinstall the driver, also try switching on and off USB Debugging option in the Developer mode.
If that still don't work, try this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35667806&postcount=23
Because this is likely a driver issue even if you get a new Nexus 4 your computer still might not recognize it. The issue is likely on your computer side, unless your phone's microUSB port is damaged somehow.
Thank you for answering.
I tried the command to lock the bootloader but it does not work because my device is not recognized
That catches image

You need to install the adb/fastboot driver, again, follow the link I posted for instruction. But you can download the Universal Naked Driver here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996051

I tried to update the drivers but Windows told me that the driver is already up to date
Uninstall it and also check the option to delete the driver, then rescan the devices and reinstall it.

Without success
In that case I suggest do a clean Windows 7 installation and reinstall the drivers on a clean system . Or wipe out Windows completely and install the latest Ubuntu which will detect your device automatically.
OK I installed ubuntu, I 'll let you know

This 1st step has proven to be helpful for re-installing drivers which let you access adb and fastboot.

Hello, I have the same problem.
My phone is in the official service center, and the last information I have is that it needs logic board replacement which costs aproximately 230 euros.
They would repair it under warranty if it wasn't rooted and flashed with TWRP. Of course, I dont want to pay that amount of money, so I'll try to find to buy a N4 with cracked screen and/or back and take the board from it.
So, if anyone has the same problem, the only solution is replacing the logic board or using ADB over wifi if the kernel supports that feature. Nothing else will work

Restored Hard-brick But Still Some Problems...

So my xiaomi m2s was bricked pretty bad, I couldn't even enter the recovery. So I followed this thread and restored my phone by installing the 'aries_images_4.11.21_4.1_cn' fastboot package. So when my phone finally booted up I noticed some problems I also had prior to this brick. My sdcard storage couldn't be mounted, not in the ROM and neither with an usb cable. I tried, for example downloading something but always got an error. When I go to fastboot and try to flash m11kkaa's flashtools with miflash, I always get this error:

This happens with all fastboot packages by the way, not only m11kkaa's. And I've tried this on 3 different computers with each having the windows driver signature enforcement disabled on boot.
So my question is: Is my phone DEAD?

I gave this a try, even though I already had the latest platform-tools installed through android studio > SDK manager. Anyway this little installer puts it in C:/adb. It didn't work either. This is what I always get:
This is what my driver looks like in windows when I connect in fastboot:
EDIT:
I seem to have gained a working sdcard again by flashing m11kkaa's 'aries_core_recovery_single' package through fastboot (pin short circuit method) but I still have no connection with my computer through USB. The only way I can transfer files to my phone are through FTP.

I had a similar problem, i tried installing and uninstalling drivers with no luck.I concluded that something with the driver or windows files was wrong and could not fix it so finally i made a fresh install of windows and everything is fine now.?I know it's not the easiest thing to do so you can try first on a different pc to check if the problem is with the phone or your pc.

If it's not working on the host machine then it doesn't on the virtual installation on vmware.I tried that too.You can make a backup of your current windows installation and then try a clean install and see if it's working.Or you can try on another machine.

[Guide] Fix Device Not Showing Up In Fastboot Mode (Windows 10/11)
You sir are saint...I've been trying to get fastboot to recognize my OP6T for the last 8 hours. Thank you so much!
forum.xda-developers.com
in my case, the other devices it doesnt show when i connect it with usb and it also doesnt show USB CONNECTED notification on my status bar? it would be really helpful if someone can help with the fix, Thankks and Appreciated.
I just went through the same exercise. However, I did not want to download drivers from unknown source (or even worse - run some *magical* driver fixing executable), right?
I am using Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and the ADB drivers came from Samsung and adb was working.
However, once I put the tablet in fastboot mode the USB re-enumerated and Samsung drivers didn't cut it!
Inspecting DeviceManager gave me the USB\VID_18D1&PID_4EE0 and Google search shows this is actually a Google VID. The rest is history: Downloaded (signed!) driver from Google (specifically this) and voila - life is good!
I hope this may help others avoiding wizardry with unsigned drivers.
I didn't think I'd get to ask something like this but here I am:
I can't get the phone to be detected while it is bootloader mode to my PC. I always updated and rooted my phone without any issue but with f.15 I can't.
All drivers are fine because I've rooted f.13 like one month ago so i really don't know what to do.
I remember once I had to install "Android Bootloader Interface" but now when I'm in bootloader mode my PC doesn't see the phone. No "unknown android" under window devices manager, nothing.
When the phone is ON I see "ADB Interface" in devices manager, when it's OFF nothing shows up in the list like the PC doesn't see I've plugged my phone.
What am I missing?
Thx in advance

Not sure if this will help but I would run "usbview" to see what is enumerated. Since the tree is very bid these days with many hubs and USB devices already connected you might first plug-in anything known to the same USB port to see where on the tree it sits. Then plug-in the phone and look at the same spot ("bark at the same tree" ;-) )
If you nave a NIX system "lsusb" will do you similar service. Both are driver independent. Then (if the phone is recognized) get the VID and PID and google what got enumerated and you may end-up with the right driver.
In the case nothing is detected at this low level the only explanation I would have is that the boot doesn't initialize the USB interface on the phone. That would be weird and nasty.
Hey
While trying to install drivers using have disk I encounter a problem. After navigating to the android-usb.inf file I press ok and it rolls back to asking me where is the disk. I tried disabling driver enforcement but to didn't work. It's like windows doesn't want to work. I am using a win 11 copy via parallels on an M1 Mac.
