IM plugin in HTC Sense UI - HD2 General

Hello everyone! I've got a question for you. How difficult would it be to make a plugin tab for the HTC Sense UI for a chat client? as of lately they've been putting tabs for everything (facebook, twitter, at&t on other phones, etc). Could it be a reality?
Thanks in advance

That would be pretty cool. I second this idea.

Would be awesome, but can we do it? Never saw any custom Manila tabs.

But then who made the operator tabs? Did HTC make it for them?

I would imagine so. But I'm sure someone could hack it or I don't know ... It was just an idea. I'd love it for this phone as it would have a large screen and capacitive, perfect for fast typing .

Twitter tab Touchflo3d

I'd really like if there was a twitter tab for touchflo3d on the TP2, like on the HTC Hero (android).... Is there someone who has this already done. Or is there something in development?
If you add the Touchflo Detacher application you can set the Touchflo3D soft key to open up your Twitter client. That's what I've done.
I agree. A Twitter tab would be nice!
Use Manila Today Page (MTP) and find a twitter app that has a today plugin.

Apparently it is, according to HTC. They're planning on porting the Sense UI to WinMo which in turn means the TP2 should definitely get it. I hope so anyway as it looks to work pretty well on the Hero.
To digress for a second, however, I would like to be able to assign a Twitter client to one of the tabs (I use Pocketwit) but I suspect there may be more to it than simply creating a tab. I would've thought it would involve tweaking the app itself to render properly in TouchFLO and there are quite a few Twitter apps out there at the moment.
I could be very wrong but that's my tuppence worth.
if all this is being done then does that possibly mean that one day they will release a touchflo without the battery being eaten up so quickly

HTC has never stated that they will be porting the Sense UI to devices like diamond2 and touchpro2..They have said that they will start using the Sense UI on future devices
I plan on working on a twitter tab come august 12 when I get a Touch Pro 2.
twitter tab for 6.5...
pocketwit already does this.. after installed its built in the 6.5 windows default screen under da g's 23025 build.. its ok, but i ran into issues with it.. so this relationship didn't form into what it should've been..
i actually didn't really prove an answer for those interested in using touchflo, but there's some way to enjoy twitter..
so now i'm in love with tiny twitter as it uses the entire screen.. i just do without the auto notifications.
yeah, sorry the twitter tab is only for titanium http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3693803&postcount=1

No offense, but I really don't see any reason to turn your phone into an iPhone if you didn't get an iPhone. Maybe I'm missing something here, I don't know.
The IphoneToday v1.1 app works great for me.
There is a Rhodium Theme section, why post in the ROM section?
Concerning your question, you could search the Blackstone theme section, since both devices are very similar.

Haha, nice one
The Touch Pro 2 does kinda resemble the iPhone though, with the chrome edges around it
None of that stuff from that site has any support, because they stole it all from XDA. The locker app is called S2U2. In this thread The today screen was probably iFonz. Link here. There are a bunch more iPhone-like applications here, all you have to do is search before buying.

i was just about to say that. to have an iphone just to have an iphone is pretty damn lame, but if you have one and genuinely understand phones and appreciate how good it really is, the more power to you. now, if you come to xda and ask this, that's just rock bottom

No offence, but if you think that putting an Iphone styled theme over a TP2 turns it into an Iphone, then yes, you missed quite a lot.
My 2-cents on this...
If you have an iPhone or use an iPhone theme, you're missing out on a lot of info on your homescreen.
You'll only have a bunch of shortcut icons. No preview of messages, no viewing upcoming appointments, etc.
It's like every time turn on your device, you're presented with the TF3D Start menu. Not sure why anyone would do this when TF3D and other more capable solutions are available.

That's a valid opinion, and as you use your phone that way, it's great you have the option of TF3D. The Iphone has advantages too, like if you want to open facebook/twitter/messaging, you turn the phone on, then click on facebook/twitter/messaging and you're done without having to open the start menu or slide to a different TF3D tab.
People use their phones differently so it's also great that they can set up their phone to suit themselves.
That's what's great about WinMo - people can do what they want with it, so if someone had an Iphone & loved the way it works, but not the lack of a keyboard & high-res screen, they can get a Pro2, enjoy the keyboard, high-res screen, and make it operate in a way that suits them.
If someone wants something on their phone, either help them achieve it, or leave them to it. Why criticise them because we don't want or understand what they want?
That's my view anyway!
Yeah, well said DavidMc0. I've just got the TP2 and want an auto lock solution. s2u2 looks like the one for me but I've concerns over the battery drain. It'll probably be the app for me but we'll see...

If you've ever had an Iphone which I have, you can appreciate the layout of the phone. The visual display and layout of the phone is great, bar but what I didn't like was the none keyboard and the AT&T cost, so if I come across a good iphone theme, I'd be happy to give it test drive

Iphone Theme
I know you might ask, why get a Touch Pro if you want an Iphone Theme. Well if you've had an iphone which I have you can really appreciate the flow of the phone. Everything is touch and setup in a manner that isn't clumped together. Windows Mobile just doesn't do it. Being able to touch things very easily is such a nice touch. I've already played around with some of the themes and some are nice but if someone would emuliate the iphone theme, I garantee it would be a hit. BTW, the only reason I got rid of the iphone is I wanted access to 3G which I didn't have on the TMobile network.
Just my thought...
There are tons of iphone applications that will work for the TP2, free ones... Search them. A couple examples:
iFonz
iPhoneToday
WAD2 (is a skinning program, you have to find the iphone theme for it. seen some beautiful looking ones)
ThrottleLauncher (another skinning program, might be an iPhone theme for it somewhere)
Just make sure you look to see that it supports WVGA resolution before trying any of them. IphoneToday is probably the best out right now in terms of functionality. Very light plugin, customizable, works like the iPhone, can be used with other today plugins, it's just awesome. Had it on my Titan and if it weren't for Manila being so dang sexy I'd have it on my Rhodium as well.

HTC Sense makes me want to die. Please help.

Hey, all. Long-time flasher, first(ish)-time poster. I think HTC Sense does a great deal of covering up for Windows Mobile, which is great... if you hate Windows Mobile. I don't. I love it. And that's all I want.
Right now I'm using Kumar's ROM on my HD2... hats off to all involved, by the way... but it's still not exactly what I'm looking for. Maybe what I'm looking for doesn't exist. I don't know. I'll get to the point.
Here's what I'm after: a stock Windows Mobile 6.5.3 ROM. I don't want any of the HTC Sense bull**** on there. Not Sense, not HTC's SMS/MMS app, none of it. I want strictly Windows Mobile. Does something like this exist already, and I'm just retarded/overlooking it?
Thanks in advance for any help here, all.

I was working on a ROM like that, but in the end decided it was easier to just take Kumar's ROM, and turn off Sense/HTC Messaging.
start->settings->home->Items, disable Sense, enable Windows Default
Ok... disabling Sense on the home screen is easy enough, that I've already done. The real thing I'm after is disabling their messaging client. It hurts to use, I die a little inside every time I'm forced to interact with it. How do you disable that?

Also, Kumar is working on a Titanium ROM without the HTC Sense apps (especially messaging). Or, you can try SPB Mobile Shell to see if that suits you, though it is a commercial product.

NRGZ28 has a Titanium only rom with the HTC messaging already disabled by default. I would give that a look too
Oh brilliant, was hoping there'd be Titanium-only HD2 ROMs - I've got a TMoUS HD2 en-route at the moment, and although I've only played with M2D, I've never understood the fascination with TouchFlo. It's pretty, to be sure, but so memory-hungry and annoying to use. Although I suppose RAM-hogging won't be a factor when the HD2 has so much to spare, heh.
Link to HD2 EnergyROM w/Titanium-only version for anyone still looking.
Say, can anyone who loves Sense UI explain why? I'm just curious, having had bad experiences myself.

I love and hate sense.
As you can see from my signature, I use NRG's titanium ROMs on my TP2, because I get fed up of it, and it always feels slow.
The reason I loved it was the integration of everything in a today screen, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, all in one, along with weather, stocks and everything else I do daily .

Not true at all. I'm not a big fan of sense. It's way more buggy than a lot of other great shells or ui's. I'm gonna start using SPB Mobile shell now that I've used sense for a few weeks to see if I grew to like it. I didn't.

Quite a few people have posted requesting Titanium-only ROMs, thats why several ROM chefs have started making them.
More people still prefer Sense, but there are plenty that do not.
Having actually gotten hold of said HD2 now, I'm really beginning to dig the Sense UI. It takes a bit of getting used to, and I think I'll be hunting for a ROM that has Titanium as well, in case I feel like switching between the two. The major advantages of Titanium are its low memory footprint, nifty clean look (Sense is not so clean, but it looks boring when it is) and having everything on a single screen, while having all the key information visible at a glance - the comm manager panel was the single most important app I had installed. But Sense does all of this too, with a few tweaks and some specific quick links. Although I'd really prefer to have comm manager status/links to favourite people/currently-playing music/new texts/new email/home tab visible all at the same time, I'm pretty sure I can deal with swiping to the left to get to Twitter, heh.
Funnily enough, my friends' reaction upon seeing Sense UI is "WOW, is that Android?"
I've built a rom with chuckys tools 23563 if you wanna try here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618787
i forgot to take out the htc dialler and that interferes with the reminder notification snoozing(gives you a choice of 5/10/15mins etc) so you might wanna google htc dialler disabler aswell.
Be aware i stripped out a lot of stuff with this so no opera or anything, i found it easier to try newer versions etc that way....
I feel you
Your post pushed me to find a way to do exactly what you're talking about. I love Titanium, and despise HTC Messaging.
I installed the Energy ROM ("standard" Sense build 23566) and it's perfect. Once you disable Sense you're good to go. HTC Messaging is not included! Fast, stable, and includes only minimal extra software. The default Start menu arrangement is excellent.
Cheers,
Rob

Schaps is still releasing TouchXperience???? When I started on this forum in 2007....I couldn't wait for Schaps to release that.....then for personal reasons, he was gone. I'm hoping you are saying he is going to release his 'latest' version....because if he still hasn't released his first version...yet...you may want to keep looking. I've always found his work very good....but the drama very high.
have you even heard of the home screen customizer?
it pretty much saves winmo6.5.
go into the Marketplace on your phone, and just search "home screen customizer".
it's amazing, hardly anyone finds it.

HTC Pure ROM on HTC HD2?

Hi Chefs!!!
I'm not sure if this is possible but, I'd really like to see that happen.
Can you port/cook a ROM that is the same or close to the one in HTC Pure?
I'm mainly interested in the UI which is great imo.
Can we at least ahve the People Interface? It looks soo much better than the People Tab we currently have on our ROMs.
What do you say?

Just a quick search and found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=159225&d=1235156015
The old HTC HD (aka Blackstone) had this tab you are looking for.
It might look better but it is not as quick to use. Just like the old e-mail tab with the envelope. You had to always open every message as you only could only read a few lines due to the envelope being in the way. With the people tab, you need to "flip" through until you found the right person or slide down on the right. Not very functional compared to the new tab. HTC is realizing that people want less "eye candy" for the every day items, more "eye candy" for the static items like weather, music, pictures, etc. A business man does not want to find his contact, he would rather tap and go.
Seeing that this people tab is not from the HD2 but from the Diamond and older devices, I would have asked there first.

lool , how would u make 3D on non 3D device simple impossible m8
And that home screens scrolling, that was implemented loong time ago in MIUI RoMs ( at least )maybe some other launchers can do that too. But I have a MIUI RoM for a while and all I can say I would not change for any other style. Well maybe if someone offer me a brand new phone for free with other style Android But still would change it back to MIUI for a while

It's good advertisement made by HTC. Unfortunately the effects of the 3D would not be that nice and crisply clear.
If you read this
http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/22/htc-evo-3d-first-hands-on/
you will discover that the 3D effect only work when the phone is facing you.. sad isn't??
won't work on the HD2 has the 3D effects requires a special screen specially designed for it. The screen on that phone has got also an higher resolution [qHD]
I mean the EVO 3D is a truly piece of art, so if it's available in your country go for it! I think it's the real successor to the King HD2.
however you can get the interface sense 2.1 without 3D effect on the HD2 easily.. just have a look to the NAND development
hope this helps
and remember it's not everything that shines is gold
